Hi,
how can I invocate remote methods from my JavaFX application to a web server?
I know that there's an article about, at http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/scripting/javafxpart2/ but link doesn't work...
Anyone can help me???

You can also look at [Flaming RIA framework|http://exadel.com/web/portal/flamingo] . You won't have to work with any HTTP, request/response API. Flamingo hides all the complexity connecting JavaFX to server-side.

JavaFx + rmi server problem

I have a problem not with code but with the way how rmi is working. I have such a classes for Server side which is RmiServer.java RmiInterface.java and UNode.java (this one is for supporting linked lists on server side) and my client side looks like main.fx, list.fx RmiClient.java and RmiInterface.java. The problem is that server files and client files are suppose to be in the same directory. Im using netbeans and I can not create an fx project with two main classes. So what i was trying to do is to create two projects one for server and second for client + fx script. But then I get the error about paths. And I can not copy those files because If i do so they immediately appear in second project. So guys do you have any idea how can I solve this problem. If it is helpful I can attach java files. Because what I understood is the server side is suppose to run all the time and different clients get connected to it so it can not be in the same project.
P.S. When I was checking the rmi without connecting it to javafx it was working properly.

Sometimes you are starting the RMI Registry with the correct classpath, or in the correct directory, and sometimes you aren't.

Connect JavaFx(Applets) to J2EE - best practice & browser session

Hi there,
Im new to JavaFX and Applet programming but highly interested.
What I dont get at the moment is how you connect the locally executed code of the applet to your system running on a server (J2EE).
Of course there seem to be different ways but I would like to avoid using RMI or things like that because of the problem with firewalls and proxies.
So I would like to prefer using HTTP(s) connection.
And here my questions:
1.) Is there any best practice around? For example: using HTTP because of the problems I mentioned above. Sample code for offering java method via HTTP?
2.) Is there a possibility to use the browser session? My J2EE applications are normally secured. If the user opens pages he has to login first and has than a valid session.
Can I use the applet in one of those pages and use the browser environment to connect? I dont want the user to input his credentials on every applet I provide. I would like to use the existing session.

1) Yes. If you look at least at the numerous JavaFX official samples, you will find a number of them using HttpRequest to get data from various servers (Flickr, Amazon, Yahoo!, etc.). Actually, using HTTP quite insulates you from the kind of server: it doesn't matter if it run servlets or other Java EE stuff, PHP, Python or other. The applet only knows the HTTP API (GET and POST methods, perhaps some other REST stuff).
2) It is too long since I last did Java EE (was still J2EE...), so I can't help much, perhaps somebody will shed more light on the topic. If the Web page can use JavaScript to access this browser session, it can provide this information to the JavaFX applet (JS <-> JavaFX communication works as well as with Java applets).

JavaFX EJB 3.1 with Netbeans and GlassFish v3

It seems there is no information in the Web.
Basicly, is it possible?
has anyone a link or a small running example?
How can i deploy a JavaFX Application into an Enterprise Application.

Since you can use regular java from javafx, it's not too difficult. Keep in mind javafx is more like a swing application than a servlet or jsp. It's an important factor when deciding how you want to connect. There are a couple options:
EJBs and the ACC
I'm sure it's possible to get the Glassfish ACC (application client container) integrated in some way, but haven't actually done it. I don't think it's a good solution for javafx since it it uses an extra port (3700 by default) for RMI communication. However, depending on your requirements, it may be a possibility.
REST
I'm fairly sure this will be the preferable approach for javafx and writing REST like services using Glassfish 3.1 is very easy. It's mostly annotation based. There's lots of documentation around the we for writing REST like services for Glassfish and I've seen several examples of how to consume those services in javafx. I don't have any links handy, so you'll have to do a bit of googling.
Most of the documentation about connecting a swing application to Glassfish is still relevant for javafx. I know you were looking for code samples, but I haven't seen many (or any) on the topic. Hopefully my info is enough to get you started.

Can I include java files into my javafx project?

If I do so, exception always occurs until I delete the created java files.

Suppose I include the following class in my project (all other classes are of .jx type)

To add to it the BPEL process is executing successfuly and RMI call timeout is happening.
Can I know how to increase the related timeout value?

Have got the same problem. Scenario at my end is little different though.
I am trying to invoke a BPEL process from an ESB Service.
I am trying to look into it..

Several JVM s with RMI?

Hi,
As you can guess, my Java program needs more and more memory as users connections grow.
We are of course trying to optimize the way its running but looks like we will anyway soon need to increase ressources of our JVM.
We first thought to increase memory heap but there is a limit, on any 32 bit system 4Go seems the theoretical maximum ram size. And we have to keep a 32 bit JVM, cant change this.
Here is our next idea: we would like to run our program on several JVMs.
Two options came then, and so here are my question: (maybe irrelevant for experts but I am a beginner regarding distributed architecture, so feel free to give me some reference to learn about it)
-First option: several 32 bit JVMs running together on one 64bits machine
Is it possible to run several 32 bit JVM (jre 1.5) on a windows (or linux) 64 bits machine? So that we could share the system (big) ram between each of them.
Is there, in this case, a limit for the memory heap per JVM?
What would be in this case the best way to communicate between jvms (I m thinking about RMI, but is it the only way to?)
-Second option: run several 32bits JVM on several 32 bits machine.
Questions are the same here:
is it possible? I guess so, and would it be worse or better from a performance/learning time point of view, compare to option 1?
Is RMI the best way here to make the several jvm communicate?

Multiple JVMs dont have any inherent special behavior on the same maching. However, you must consider the shared resources of that machine such as ports and files that may be contended for.
The only advantage of multiple JVMs of single JVMs is an OS one. The JVMs are separate processes and as such if one crashes it will not bring the other down.
If you want to transfer user sessions from one JVM to another, no matter if on the same computer or not, you will need an architecture to support this. That is where application servers come in. Some of them will allow you to do this. So if you design your product to run in an application server, you have a lot of room to expand. That is really the benefit of designing for an application server.
The details of a shared session are likely very complicated. You will have to ask the application server folks about that. Maybe go over to the JBoss forums.

Issue with DataApp Sample in JavaFX.

Okay so I downloaded the Samples pack here http://jdk8.java.net/download.html or here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk7-downloads-1880260.html at the bottom.
Inside is one called DataApp which requires setting up an SQL DB, and connecting to it.
In Netbeans8 I get an error about not having RestLib api inside the DataAppClient which according to the setup DataAppClient - The JavaFX 2.0 client application. inside there you can see a package with packages that wont import such as

So why am I in a Java 8 samples pack needing FX 2? Though I'm not sure if it's FX8 yet, I just didn't think the 2.0 client would work.
So I tried Netbeans 7.3 to see if it would work. At first the DataAppClient was fine, but I see the DataAppPreloader will not run because it uses Package javafx.something which apparently is new in Java 8.....
So now I'm stuck, wondering why Restlib doesn't exist... I looked it up, and it says it's used for Web services, but I don't have it, nor does it say to install it in the readme.
not existing, which I guess has to do with the RestLib?
Anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: So I just downloaded the version for FX2, and I am still getting the same error when I run it, though nothing shows "errors" in the packages. Maybe I just needed to run it correctly for it to work, so not what is this error tellingme

The only thing I haven't done is created a DB, but I don't think I need one, and the instructions don't say anything.

Install the MySQL drivers into GlassFish.
Manually copy the mysql-connector-java-5.1.13-bin.jar file from the netbeans-install-dir\ide\modules\ext\ to the glassfish-install-dir/glassfish/lib directory, where netbeans-install-dir and glassfish-install-dir are the directories into which the products were installed. For example, on Windows the install directory for products is typically in the C:\Program Files\ or C:\Program Files (x86)\ directories.
Open the following DataApp projects in NetBeans by selecting File ->Open Project and navigating to the location of the DataApp sample:

Configure and create the database (only needs to be done once):

I found the same issue but resolved it by myself. The user table of the MySQL changed, my guess. You need to add another 'Y' or 'N' to the end of this statement in the build.xml of DataAppLoader:

What is the difference between RMI and JAX-RPC?

Dear All
First of all my understanding of RMI and JAX-RPC:
RMI is JAVA only version of RPC. It can't talk to any other language.
JAX-RPC is a part of JWSDP and if you implement your client and server with JAX-RPC, client written in any language can talk with JAX-RPC implementation.
What else makes them different and am I right with my understanding?
Finally, I would like to develop clients which will have a java class, say httpserver.java, which will act like a http server, listens to a http port. Now, Two such client will run in two different PC and I want to call a module from one client to another which should be accessible via my httpserver.java. For that which should be my choice RMI or JAX-RPC? Can I achive it with http get-post method, as I am expecting to read some value of variables from one client to the another.
Say class A has variable a, aa, aaa and clas B has variable b, bb, bbb. Now I want to read the value of b, bb, bbb from class A. How do I do that when class B is listening to a http port with my httpserver.java class.
Lastly, say B is listening to a http port and I want to send a file to B from A. How can I do that? Remember, B didn�t ask for that. How can A send a file to B when B is listening to a http port with my httpserver.java.

simply put, RMI allows you to (semi) transparently treat remote objects as if they were local, and your distributed application can be written (more or less) like a "normal" java app. Sockets just give you a "raw" connection to work with, and you get to build up your application from that.

I tired this approach you mentioned, and interestingly if i just make ejb calls without any event handling, meaning if i call them separately they all just work fine and i see the results coming back from server. But when i relate them to any click events the whole IE freezes.
One more thing i noted is that, seems like the way JRE 1.6 render my applet is somewhat different than JRE 1.5.* familiy,because initially when my aplet is loaded, i see everything which should be displayed from the first screen, but any further operations i cannot perform, even opening a file chooser from tool bar. I admit my applet is real heavy and it contains a lot of data in it on the first screen, may be its the heap size causing the problem in 1.6 but fine with jre 1.5.
Day by day am coming to conlusion that jre 1.6 is my concern now ..:(

Can't run JavaFX app as a jar file from command line

I'm trying to build a JavaFX app from scratch (that is, by including the jar file from the JavaFX SDK rather than by using the special JavaFX project type from NetBeans). It runs fine in NetBeans. However, when I try to launch it as a jar file from the command line (using "java -jar dist\TestApp") I get the following. Has anybody seen this before, and if so how can I fix it?:

Unsatisfied link means that Java is trying to access a native library, but it cannot be found. As to why this error is being thrown, here is my guess:
If you open up one of the sample jars with a zip viewer, you will see that the Manifest file has the following entries:

In other words, a JavaFX project works a bit differently than a normal Java project. com/javafx/main/Main is used as the Main class and your "Main" class is called later.
If you are trying to build this from a normal Java project, then com/javafx/main/Main will not be created and it will call your Main class right away. Thus, whatever setup is needed to run JavaFX will not occur.
