JavaHelp viewing .mth files (MIME HTML)

The benefit of using MHT file (MIME HTML) is , rather than as a collection of code and images in separate files, it holds the Web pages in a standardized file format. All the images and css for the file are in the same file. This is something IE has been able to view for a while and firefox has an extension that can be installed to allow the viewing of .mht files. I was wondering since the javaHelp is a basic html browser, if there was a way to give it the ability to view .mht files.

Sorry for the double post. It was an accident.

    Can any one please tell me how to view .shtml files in Firefox?

    SHTML files are regular HTML files that make use of Server-Side Includes. In some server configurations, the special file extension is required to instruct the server to parse the file for SSI code.
    If Firefox doesn't recognize the file type, it is likely the MIME type is incorrect.

  • Displaying images in the JavaHelp Viewer

    I have developed a small help system which works, but images are not displayed in the JavaHelp viewer. They are displayed when I load the .html file into a browser.
    All images are collected into an .images file, and are referenced there. The Map entries for each image resembles the Map entries in the sample, but I believe that none of the images within that directory are being displayed by the javahelp system.
    Directory layout in eclipse is:
    <pre>
    <project>
    &brvbar;
    +----help
    &brvbar; &brvbar;
    &brvbar; +-images

    &brvbar; &brvbar;

    &brvbar; &brvbar;
    </pre>
    Sample image declaration from Map file: <mapID target="SuccessWin1"
    url="images/Successwin1.png"/>
    When executing in the eclipse IDE, I copy all friles from the help directory to the bin directory so it is in the classpath. When building the .jar, all files from help, and images are placed directly at the first level of the jar so that the '...="images/..."' reference in the Map will succeed. Yet it does not.
    Many thanks for any suggestions.

  • Viewing .doc file (saved as .doc from .mht) on ipad

    Hi
    My requirement is
    I have a .doc document, which i saved as .doc from .mht format, i am able to open that file on a PC, but where as if i try to view the same on iPad i am not able to do so,
    Is there any way of converting a doc file which is based on .mht to iPad compatible doc? or can i convert it to dsiplay on iPad.
    Please advice.
    Thank you very much
    Regards
    Chaitanya.A

    What apps are you using to try to display the file?
    My understanding of mht is:
    MHTML, short for MIME HTML, is a web page archive format used to combine resources that are typically represented by external links (such as images, Flash animations, Java applets, audio files) together with HTML code into a single file.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MHTML
    Can't you copy the web page to one of your servers?
    You could try saving the page in firefox.  It leaves the page in as one file and a folder of all the included files.  You can forget about viewing flash.

  • How to view PDF files like a flipping magazine?

    Hi, I am new here. I didn't know if it is the optimum catagory for my question, I hope you guys will help me.
    In brief, I want to view PDF files like a flipping magazine. You know, just the same flipping effect that ibook did on ios. Adobe reader is the only choice to browse PDF on computer for me. It's kind of bothering and annoying now.
    So, any ideas for that? Plus, my computer runs on win7 64bit.

    This is also a good site:  http://www.issuu.com/  You can sign up and use it for free or you can upgrade(for a price) to make custom changes (like background color, button color, etc.)  You can also embed the html code into your website if you would like someone to view it there.  Good luck!

  • Adobe 9.1.3 and FireFox 3.5.1+ "...can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser"

    This is the issue but I'm not sure there is a resolution:
    Firefox:  Version 3.5.1
    Adobe: Version 9.1.3
    When navigating the web, click a URL that opens a PDF inside the browser and you get an error * "The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is
    running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser".  Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again".  I did read a post that doing a "repair" from the Adobe Reader application should fix this, they also reference a few registry keys to check becuase the post states it's lost the application path to Adobe version X.  I don't necessarily buy that "fix" and here are my details below.
    In FireFox if you navigate to Tools > Options > Applications > Adobe Acrobat Document
    You're given choices:
    Always ask:  DOES NOT WORK, produces afore mentioned error *
    Save File:  Works, saves the file to a directory on your PC
    Use Adobe Reader 9.1 (defau...:  Works, opens your PDF's outside of your web browser
    Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox):  DOES NOT WORK, produces afore mentioned error *
    Use other...:
    IE seems to just work as expected.
    If you open Adobe Reader > Edit > Preferences > Internet > Check "Display PDF in browser" - DOES NOT WORK, produces afore mentioned error *
    This would seem to be an Adobe error rather than a FireFox web browser problems since FireFox does seem to know the correct path although I suppose you can't rule out that this is a FireFox problem since 2 out of the 4 PDF open options DON'T WORK.
    Any thoughts on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Other information:
    Adobe 8.1.5 works perfectly with FF 3.5.1+ when opening PDF's in the web browser, we also had no problems with previous versions either.
    MSI push via Active Directory from Adobe 8.1.5 upgrade to Licensed Distribution I signed up for, Adobe 9.1.3 which was upgraded from 9.1.0, to 9.1.2, to 9.1.3 via an MSP patch.
    Operating system:  Windows XP SP 2, plenty of RAM, plenty of Drive
    IE version this works with the new version of Adobe 9.1.3 is version 7 (7.0.5730.13)
    Our FireFox MSI's come from Front Motions website and as far as I know we've never had problems with their MSI's, also tried the new release of FF 3.5.2 from their website.
    I think that about covers it.  Anyone else experiencing the same problems or have a patch?

    After troublshooting this for the entire day today the issue seems to be a MIME problem.
    If everything is woking perfectly, in Tools > Options > Applications...
    You should see 4 or more things related to Adobe like "Adobe Acrobat Forms Document", etc.  If you don't see at least 4 MIME entries either your Adobe installation is hosed or your FF installation is hosed.  I haven't figured out which is causing the issue.
    What I did was remaster my patches from my original Adobe 9.1.0 MSI with the two updates via the command line in the directories with the source files.  On the 9.1.0 original file I first remastered my MST transform with the Adobe MST utility.  I then applied my patches.
    msiexec /a AcroRead.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd912_all_incr.msp
    msiexec /a AcroRead.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd913_all_incr.msp
    I then uploaded that to my network share, unlinked my group policy, made a new group policy, added a batch file to delete adobe.com from program file and the desktop on system startup even though my MST was supposed to take care of that - it's not a perfect world is it?  :-)
    I then reapplied my GPO's for both FireFox 3.5.2 and Adobe 9.1.3, I checked to make sure the MIME extensions were there and they were.  You might have to go into your Adobe Preferences and select that open in browser setting depending on what happens or adjust your MIME settings in FireFox's options but it should work.
    That's what worked for me.  It's possible a few other things I did along the way tweaked it out, in my group policy on the first run I did select to upgrade previous group policies, for the remaster and repush I didn't select any previous GPO's to upgrade.
    It's hard to tell what one thing tweaked it out or what combination of things tweaked out the install.  I did also reinstall Adobe 8.1.5 and FF 3.0.10 before doing all this since our machines currently have that setup, I'm not sure if that affected it either, it's just hard to tell but I don't think it did simply because I had done that several times in troubleshooting this issue.
    If anyone else has more specifics that would be great!

    nows it says complete action using (here i only have 2 icon options 1= DB Text Editor 2 = HTML Viewer)

  • How can I quickly view pdf files like I can do with Windows Picture and Fax viewer for jpg files?

    How can I quickly view pdf files like I can do with Windows Picture and Fax viewer for jpg files? I need to look at several thousand PDF files. It takes too long to open each one individually. The only thing I could think of is combining them into large groups and then using the Navigation index. But I like the way windows Picture and Fax Viewer does it because you can keep the files separate. Combining PDFs causes loss of individual file names. That would be a problem since I do need to have the individual file names.

    Windows Picture and Fax Viewer is a DLL and is started via a rundll32.exe call and can't be set as an application to handle images in Firefox 3 and later versions.
    Try to set Windows Picture and Fax Viewer as the default viewer in Windows, then it should be listed automatically in the Mozilla Firefox Browse dialog.

  • Still can't view acrobat files in Safari

    I recently upgraded to OS X 10.6.2 and can no longer view acrobat files in Safari 4.0.4. I deleted the Adobe PDF plugin from /Library/Internet Plug-Ins (as suggested in another post in this forum) with no luck. Does anyone have another idea that could work?

  • Unable to view video files in browser :[

    Does anyone know why Safari is unable to view video files in the browser ??? I used to be able to view .mpg video files right in the browser and when viewing .wmv files Safari would open up Windows Media Player which would then play the file. I really dug that feature. Now when clicking on a .mpg video file, Safari simply downloads the file to my HD and that's it. Is there an easy fix for this issue ??? Hello !!! Anybody ???

    Tell the QuickTime plug-in to play the file inside a browser window.
    Open System Preferences/QuickTime and click the Advanced tab. Click the MIME Settings button and then put a check mark in MPEG media.
    Quit and relaunch your browser for these changes to take effect.

  • Combining Word and Visio Files Through HTML and PDF

    I have a Word document and a Visio drawing with multiple pages, and I would like to combine them together into a pdf file.  Both documents have internal links and links to each other, and I would like to maintain them when converting to pdf (so that I do not have to re-add them through Acrobat).  Word anchors are specific words on a page, and Visio anchors are specific pages in the drawing.  I can maintain Word bookmarks as named destinations through OpenOffice, so that isn't a problem.
    Originally I was able to accomplish this by converting both of the files to html, linking the html pages to each other, and using the Web Capture feature in Acrobat 5.  However, Word formatting was lost, so I am looking for a way to convert the Word file directly to pdf and still maintain the links.
    I was able to make most of the links work properly by saving the Visio file as html pages and linking to those from the Word document.  Then I could export the Word document to pdf, open the file in Acrobat 9 Pro, and Web Capture > Append Links On Page from the table of contents.  However, links from the html (Visio) pages to "file.pdf#destination" do not link back to the same file.  Instead, they try to open another file with the same name and become very confused.
    When I tried this in Acrobat 5, it would append another version of the pdf Word document.  However, named destinations would not be maintained, so all of the Visio to Word links would go to the title page of the Word document.
    Is there a better way to accomplish this through Acrobat 9 (or Acrobat  5)?
    Additionally, Acrobat 9 image map conversion does not seem to work as well as it did in Acrobat 5.  Most of the link boxes are twice as big as they should be, making it difficult to click on anything.  Is there a good way around this?

    Basically, the question is: can I combine two interlinked PDF files so that the links in each go to the correct views in the merged PDF?  If not, is there a third-party application that will?
    Could I possibly make a PDF Portfolio that maintains the links?  I'd prefer a single file, but that would work as well.

  • Acrobat X pro - Problem viewing PDF files in web browser

    I've recently upgraded to the latest Imac and have experianced one or two teething problems with software compatibility with OS X 10.7.1 Lion (most now resolved)
    My latest issue is viewing online PDF's which appear in my browser as just a blank black page. This happens in both Safari and Firefox (both latest versions)
    My question is: Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?

    I was able install and view the files in adobe reader 10.1.1 and in web browser window 7 64 bit machine.  But when I go to Edit-preferences-internet and  unchecking "display PDF in Browser" , I am not able to view the pdf files in ie 9 browser.  I have used this javscript to check for pdf version.
    Immediately after installing adobe--
    when I do adobe test in ie 9---https://courses.worldcampus.psu.edu/public/diagnostics/Acrobat.html--  launches a test pdf file--Acro_Test.pdf
    After unchecking-- it stays in the  https://courses.worldcampus.psu.edu/public/diagnostics/Acrobat.html instead of showing test pdf file--Acro_Test.pdf
    Tried to go back to "display PDF in Browser"--it is showing it is checked(eventhough I did not check it)
    and in ie
    it stays in the https://courses.worldcampus.psu.edu/public/diagnostics/Acrobat.html instead of showing test pdf file--Acro_Test.pdf

    Hello,
    For converting xml file to html, we could refer to the way shared in the following thread which uses an XSLT stylesheet to transform the XML into another format using the
    XslTransform class.

  • Viewing AI file in ID as cmyk when the file is rgb. Why?

    I've upgraded from CS5 to CS6 and this is the first time I'll have used Illustrator. I've worked on an rgb file that I downloaded from iStock. I saved it as an rgb file but before I saved the file, I viewed the vector image in cmyk mode just to see what it would look like. I closed the file and opened my document in ID that I wanted to place my AI file into. When I placed it into the ID document, it imported as a cmyk file. I wouldn't have known what had happened if I hadn't viewed it as a cmyk file when I had saved it in Illustrator. I've never experienced this before so am curious as to why this is happening. I'm working in OS10.8.2 on a Mac Pro tower (whether this makes any difference or not, I don't know, but I've been asked these questions before when coming to the forums.) I've seen on other posts this is a color management glitch in CS6. Has there been a fix? Or is there some other bug?

    How do you 'view' the file? A SWF file is meant to be launched from its companion HTML file (name.htm) which will call the JS and CSS files and then launch the SWF.
    Do you see the playbar when you Preview in Browser (F12)? Can you check version number: 8.0.1.242 is the present version of 8.

    Thanks

    Hello,
    From your GUI, you need to request a topic ID; let's call this "optionsHelp". Then create a map file, which uses XML syntax, and link the help page to the topic ID with something like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <!DOCTYPE map PUBLIC
       "-//Sun Microsystems Inc.//DTD JavaHelp Map Version 1.0//EN"
       "http://java.sun.com/products/javahelp/map_1_0.dtd">
    <map version="1.0">
       <mapid target="optionsHelp" url="help/options.html"/>
    </map>
    Note that this is separate from the helpset file. I believe you use HelpBroker.enableHelpOnButton(Component, mapID, helpSet) to setup the help action for a button. [All this info was taken from the .pdf JavaHelp spec and whitepaper]
    Hope you get it to work!
