Javascript menu problems in IE

Hi
I am using a javascript menu for a website I am trying to
build, I have tested it on many browsers and thought it was working
fine, it's fine on all the macintosh browsers, works fine on
firefox on the PC but there seems to be problems on some versions
of IE. Especially runing XP but am not sure about vista.
You dont seem to be able to see the menu when the page loads,
you can see something is there and the buttons show when you hover
over them, but they are kicked out of place.
here is the code if it helps

Gad. Ask the authors of the menu for help. Would you REALLY
use something
like that on a web page?

  • Missing Javascript menu items on Acrobat 9 Standard

I've been trying to get into some more advanced JS coding within Acrobat for forms, and I'm running into a bit of a roadblock in accessing the javascript tools.  Specifically, I keep seeing references to Javascript menu items under the Advanced menu, but my Acrobat doesn't seem to have these at all.  I also can't open the JS Debugger/console with Ctrl-J, but it will open if i put in a syntactically incorrect javascript statement and try to execute it (from a form field, etc).
Anyone have any ideas how to correct this?  I found references online to this being an issue if Acrobat Reader is also installed on the same machine (it was), so i removed that, but the problem persists.  I can enter javascript into an individual field, but i can't add a document-level script at all.
    thanks

Sweet! I got it working.   My function reads in the contents of a range (30+) of combo boxes and text boxes, does a little editing and then sorts, and then puts them back in the same range of boxes but with the blanks filtered out and in alpha order.  I  used a nested array and it worked pretty well.
The only thing i'm still stymied on is that it works perfectly for everything except if the textbox field is a number with a '+' in front of it (like +1 or +2200).  It strips the + sign out, I'm assuming that's because of javascript special characters, but the escape/unescape function did not fix it.  Doesn't matter if there are plus signs in the rest of the field, only at the beginning (and minus signs don't cause the same issue).  I'm going to try manually escaping with quotes before reading into the array I think, but if you have seen this sort of thing before please let me know.

  • IE PDF plugin hides javascript menu

Hello, we are using ActiveReports to create report at our web
project. We use their PDF options, which create PDF file and simple
display it. We use IE 7 as a browser. And our problem is, that
client's PDF document viewer hides our Javascript menu. Did anybody
there have similar issue? I tried all CSS XHTML options but with no
success. What is interesting at IE6 it is working fine. Thanks for
    your answer
    Tomas

  • JavaScript menu is not showing up, when it comes over applet area, why?

When my javascript menu is overlapping on applet, the menu is going behind the applet. Is there any solution to get rid this. Please, anybody have the solution mail me at this id.
    [email protected]
    thanks
    sateesh

Many people have tried to solve this problem but just about the only thing you can do is to put your applet in a <DIV> or <LAYER> (depending on the browser you want to support) and turn the <DIV> or <LAYER> invisible when your menu is activated. You'll find that your menu will also be displayed behind a FORM and other heavy-weight component, not just an applet!
    Good luck!

  • BPS_WB: JavaScript Menu System

For sometime I have been using a JavaScript Menu system with my BW WebAppDesigner Templates.  Each leaf of the menu contains a URL to execute a different Report. This works great for the reporting.
I have been trying to implement a similar JavaScript Menu system within the BPS_WB Text Elements.  The TextElement has the HTML = True option selected.
The menu does not load when I execute the application.  Although, when inserting the same 2 lines of script within the resultant BSP application's first page with flow logic (pm_page.htm) after the <htmlb:documentHead>, the script (i.e. menu) loads fine.
So I could just leave the script there but everytime a new component needs to be added to the BPS_WB the user needs to regenerate and the script would get wiped-out.
    The script is simply:
    <SCRIPT src="script1.js" type="text/javascript"></SCRIPT>
    <SCRIPT src="script2.js" type="text/javascript" ></SCRIPT>
Maybe BPS_WB has a problem with the source files, while the BSP App does not?
    Any assistance would be appreciated!!

    Hello Marc,
The Scripts are in the MIMEs directory.  I tested with a smaller script [alert('This is an alert'); document.writeln('<H1>This is a Test!!!!</H1>');] and it works fine.  As noted before, my larger menu scripts get loaded properly when inserted manually into the BSP App.
I am thinking there may be some form of script size limitation (max number of characters?) for the TextElement?
About the Source HTML. The resultant HTML uses FrameSets based on a GUID.  Can you please explain 2 things:
    1) Are the Frames Dynamically generated at runtime or are they stored in a table, if so where are they stored?  If Not, is it possible to evaluate the Frames via the browser? From the source the frame GUID are defined as:
    var frame_A = "427B596E3F6D1F60E10000000A45B429_A";
    var frame_B = "427B596E3F6D1F60E10000000A45B429_B";
    2) I would have expected that when the BPS_WB app was generated that the JavaScript would have been added to one of the BSP files.  The JavaScript does not seem to get stored there.  Can you explain where I would find the stored JavaScript?
I have activated the debugging for BSP's and have started the debugging process to figure this architecture out but it "goes way deep"... (Is Alice and the White Rabbit down there? )   Very Object Oriented implementing Polymorphism supported via the many Interfaces and a MVC architecture for the BSP app.  Is there possibly a document that might help understand the architecture from the generation of the BPS_WB app to the BSP app?
    Thanks,
    ATC

  • Menu problem with IE

menu problems with IE connected with spry - see site:
    1.
    http://www.whatwomenwant-tv.com/index.html
(horizontal menu bar - will not display fully, probably to do with
    flash)
    2.
    http://www.whatwomenwant-tv.com/about.html
(horizontal menu bar swerves to the left)
    3.
    http://www.whatwomenwant-tv.com/streetinterviewswomen.html
(vertical menu bars in questions are all over the page)
    thanks 4 help.

I tried in Firefox 3 and IE7 and they both seemed fairly slow
for any action to take place. But IE7 did seem pretty slugish.
It seems that you're already determined what the issue is,
you have waaaaaay too many menu items. Seems to me that that number
of items don't belong in a menu. There are even menus that are too
long to appear entirely on the page, so they can't be easily
accessed without accidentally hiding the menus again, which I did
    several times. IN particular:
    Cartuchos > Technologica
If you cannot change to a different format to show all of the
items, then perhaps you can split up the menu so that you don't
have too many at one time. I checked the code of your page and it
seems that you've got a lot of other scripting going on there
besides Spry, so is the issue with Spry or with everything else
you're trying to do with that menu. If you can try to recreate the
page with only the menu items on it (and not pulled in dynamically
on the fly), and then add back to your page a bit a time, you might
be able to find out what is really causing the delays.

  • Javascript security problem in IE/Netscape

I am facing with the javascript security problem in IE/Netscape. I have solved this problem partially, but there are more issues involved.
    Here's the scenario:
There is an HTML page on client's hard disk (main.htm) containing two frames:
frame 1 contains a page that lies that is deployed from my server, say
    src="http://127.0.0.1:8080/MyApplication.htm"
frame 2 contains a page that lies on the client's server, say
    src="http://www.clientside.com/clientPage.htm"
My page in frame 1 wants to access the URL of the page in frame 2 (through a button click, say ). This is done in MyApplication.htm through javascript as:
    window.parent.frame2.location.href;
Now when the above line is executed, i get the following error:
    In IE(5.0): "permission denied"
In Netscape(4.7): "access disallowed from scripts at http://127.0.0.1:8080/MyApplication.htm to documents at another domain."
    (which is understandable)
I have partially solved the above problem in Netscape, by granting access permissions to MyApplication.htm (page on my server) to access the
    "http://www.clientside.com/clientPage.htm" page at client's domain.
    This is done as follows:
    1. First enable code base principals in client's Netscape by adding the following line in prefs.js file of Netscape
    "user_pref("signed.applets.codebase_principal_support", true);"
    2. Secondly i must add the following line in java script of "MyApplication.htm"
    "netscape.security.PrivilegeManager.enablePrivilege("UniversalBrowserAccess");"
Now when the client clicks the button on my frame he'll get a netscape window asking him to grant permissions to MyApplication.htm.
After granting permission, MyApplication.htm can retrieve the URL of clientPage.htm (even if he browses to another url)
As you can see this problem is solved partially, but i want that the page "main.htm" (which is now on the client's hard disk),
must be deployed at client's server (in which case not even the above technique works).........what should i do? any alternates or other solution?
Secondly i want this to work with IE too, (which should according to their documentation, but does not and is therfore a big IE bug-as mentioned on the net)
Any sort of help in this case would greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Sudden menu problem in CS4:  Running OS10 Mavericks. Anyone got a clue?

Cannot keep history and layers windows open simultaneously. Others likewise. By sudden I mean, one day it's fine, the next there's a menu problem. Assistance appreciated.

If you have placed your layout the way you want it, use the Save Workspace, give it a name, and only check Palette location in the Save dialog.
Then switch to another Workspace and back to your saved workspace to see if that fixes the problem.
Last resort is to reset Prefs. Hold down ctrl-alt-shift, start Photoshop and agree to the reset.

  • Spry menu problem - CS6 Dreamweaver

I wonder if anyone can help me with my spry menu problem which I have with a fixed 960px wide horizonal menu bar that has 8 items in it. The sub-menus don't seem to display properly when you click on them in that some of the submenus only show up at the end of the menu bar itself in Explorer browsers 8/9. Does anyone know of any code I can apply to fix this problem? I am new to spry menu features and so any help would be very much appreciated.

Also validate the rest of the code in your pages to see if you have any critical errors that need fixing.  For example, a missing doc type declaration might explain Spry failures.
    CSS - http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
    HTML - http://validator.w3.org/
As an FYI, Adobe abandonded the Spry Framework late last year, after CS6 was released because Spry drop-menus don't hold up well on touch screen devices.   If you can't get satisfaction with Spry, try jQuery Superfish.  It's a better menu system.

  • Javascript Menu  (foxfire and netscape help)

I made a javascript menu online and it looks perfect in IE6.
However, I tested in both Netscape and Foxfire and it doesn't work
    as well
I want the begining colors to be a blue background and white
text, then when someone moves their mouse over it, it switches to a
white background and blue writing. I really don't understand why it
    would work perfect in IE6.
In netscape and foxfire, when I move my mouse over it, the
background switches to white which is what I want, but the text
    color doesn't show/change.
PLEASE help! :) Here is a test I made.
    http://www.geocities.com/myserables/menutest.html

You don't need to use a javascript menu for that type of
    menu.....
quite simple just using css -here's and example:
    http://www.dreamweaverresources.com/tutorials/clickable_cell.htm
In your example, it appears you haven't specified a text
    color for the hover
    state of the menu.

  • CSS/JavaScript Menu

I have cobbled together a CSS/JavaScript menu, based on the
    Vertical Expanding Menu by “alsacreations.com”
    http://tutorials.alsacreations.com/deroulant/menu-vertical.htm
I was foolishly distracted in simply constructing a pretty
menu without considering the fundamental necessity of being able to
edit just ONE menu for the entire site rather than all the pages in
    the site.
How do I establish this menu to operate as an independent
file? Are there instructional sites available?
Currently, my html is structured as follows:
    1) <SCRIPT type=text/javascript>
    JavaScript function declaration
    2) <STYLE type=text/css>
Detailing design features of the menu
    3) <BODY>
    The actual menu with links
The menu that currently exists on the site is a Xara Menu
with a .js file that I have edited when needed.

    Hi Mike,

  • Spry Horizontal Menu Problem

I switched to version 2 of the Spry Menubar due to sub-menu problems associated with iPads. Now I am having problems with sub-menus within IE8.  It is not possible to *quickly* scroll down the menu without the sub-menu disappearing.  Here is an example:
    http://gerberanalytics.com/tennis/tennis_header_test.php
It works ok with CS6 in the design view, but not on the local test server or on the production server.  Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Gramps,
I appreciate you providing this.  I took a closer look at the errors and I made a few changes but this validator service continued to kick out errors.  In fact if you put Adobe's own web site into this application (http://www.adobe.com), it comes up with 44 errors.  As I mentioned before, the Adobe Widget Browser application for Spry Menubar 2 is essentially creating my code so I doubted that this was an actual problem.
While I have been interacting with you, I have also been awaiting an update from Adobe's senior technology staff for a solution.  I heard from them today.  Here is what Adobe said:  Spry Menubar 2 has problems with IE 8 and IE 9 (which I already knew).  The first person with whom I spoke at Adobe suggested that my customers running the IE 8 and IE 9 browsers should switch to a different browser, such as Chrome.  I explained that asking users to switch was not a solution -- that's about 35% of my users.  I then asked to speak with a manager / supervisor.
My conversation with the supervisor went a bit better.  He told me that those running IE 8 and IE 9 on a Windows XP machine are ok.  Vista is a problem.  Windows 7 is also iffy.  My machine is a Vista and my wife's machine is a Windows 7.  It does not work on either machine for us.
I told him that Spry Menubar 2 should be withdrawn from their site or there should be a warning to insure that people are aware of the problems.  He didn't say that they would do that.  He suggested that I should check back with him in a couple of weeks.  I did not get a warm and fuzzy feeling that this was a priority item for them.
At this point, I'm bailing on Spry Menubar 2.  I may return to Spry Menubar 1.6 which requires a "double tap" on the nav buttons to work on an iPad.  I may also check out jQuery.
Thanks for the suggestions but it looks like Adobe has some serious issues.  If your customers are using iPads (and they are), Spry Menubar 2 is not a solution to fix the problems encountered in Spry 1.4 and Spry 1.6.

  • Javascript menu items problem.

    Hi,
We have created a cutom iview which logs the user into a PHP web application. The login works fine. If we make the iview to appear in a new window, i can see all the menu items (coded in javscript) along with the other information on the webpage. On the other hand if we make the iview to appear in the content area of the portal, we see everything except the menu items.
can anyone tell me what could be the problem. we have tried a lot of options but the result is still the same.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Hassan

    Hi Hassan,
maybe you should change the iView's Isolation Method to URL
    hope it helps,
