Missing Javascript menu items on Acrobat 9 Standard

I've been trying to get into some more advanced JS coding within Acrobat for forms, and I'm running into a bit of a roadblock in accessing the javascript tools.  Specifically, I keep seeing references to Javascript menu items under the Advanced menu, but my Acrobat doesn't seem to have these at all.  I also can't open the JS Debugger/console with Ctrl-J, but it will open if i put in a syntactically incorrect javascript statement and try to execute it (from a form field, etc).
Anyone have any ideas how to correct this?  I found references online to this being an issue if Acrobat Reader is also installed on the same machine (it was), so i removed that, but the problem persists.  I can enter javascript into an individual field, but i can't add a document-level script at all.
thanks

Sweet! I got it working.   My function reads in the contents of a range (30+) of combo boxes and text boxes, does a little editing and then sorts, and then puts them back in the same range of boxes but with the blanks filtered out and in alpha order.  I  used a nested array and it worked pretty well.
The only thing i'm still stymied on is that it works perfectly for everything except if the textbox field is a number with a '+' in front of it (like +1 or +2200).  It strips the + sign out, I'm assuming that's because of javascript special characters, but the escape/unescape function did not fix it.  Doesn't matter if there are plus signs in the rest of the field, only at the beginning (and minus signs don't cause the same issue).  I'm going to try manually escaping with quotes before reading into the array I think, but if you have seen this sort of thing before please let me know.

  • How to hide/remove a menu item in Acrobat X

    Hi,
I have a plugin created in acrobat sdk 9, running on acrobat x. I want to hide/remove the "Manage Trusted Identities" menu item, found under "Sign & certify (panel) > more sign & certify menu."
How can i achieve this using javascript?
    thanks in advance,

Well, I dont want users to be able to access/modify the trusted identities, so i decided to remove/hide the:
Acrobat X > "Sign & Certify (panel)" > More sign & certify (i think its a menu) > Manage trusted identities (menu item).
And can i hide/remove above mentioned item in any way other than javascript, like plugin code?
Is it in any way possible to prevent user from accessing/modifying the acrobat trusted indentities?
    Thanks.

  • The content menu in my Acrobat X Standard does not include the "multimedia" selection??

What am I missing?  The Adobe Classroom In A Book clearly refers to it...

    Hi,
I am sorry to hear that you're having trouble in locating 'Multimedia' tools in Acrobat.
Acrobat X Standard does not include most of the interactive object tools. You need to use Acrobat X Pro for those features. Kindly check the comparison matrix at:

  • Missing command menu items - blur

in ps cs6 there are some menu items, such as FILTER / BLUR / FIELD & IRIS & TILT, which are missing from configuators choices in the command list. i just wanted to confirm that missing items will be added in revisions past configurator 3.1, thanks.

Configurator 3.1 does not add these missing items. Configurator can not get all the items of Photoshop, therefore, some of them are missing. I'm sorry for that.

  • Javascript menu items problem.

    Hi,
We have created a cutom iview which logs the user into a PHP web application. The login works fine. If we make the iview to appear in a new window, i can see all the menu items (coded in javscript) along with the other information on the webpage. On the other hand if we make the iview to appear in the content area of the portal, we see everything except the menu items.
can anyone tell me what could be the problem. we have tried a lot of options but the result is still the same.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Hassan,

  • Aperture 2.0 missing Help Menu items?

Does anyone else have Aperture Help missing from the Help Menu in the app? The only thing in my Help Menu is "Create Support Profile...". Seems odd that there wouldn't be access to online help for the app here.

Thanks! Yes, they're currently at the top of the date sorted list found at:
    http://www.apple.com/support/manuals/.
Oddly enough they don't yet show up in the Aperture specific manual list:
    http://www.apple.com/support/manuals/aperture/
I assume whoever uploaded the PDFs forgot to tag them fully. They'll be fixed as soon as someone spots the mistake .
I assume they'll be distributed with full version. It's a bit odd that Aperture 2.0 doesn't use Apple's Help too. Aperture 1.x had the same odd behavior, but I figured it would get fixed with 2.0. Help is much nicer than PDFs.

  • 'flatten.txt' script for Acrobat 9 Flatten Document Menu Item

    Hello,
I was following the steps in this blog (Add a Flatten Document Menu Item to Acrobat) to add a Flatten Document menu item in Acrobat 9, and the link the 'flatten.txt' script is dead.  The page directs you to this link:  https://acrobat.com/?d=KlVeiP4I1SXCRcTpRh-2wQ, which is just the Adobe Document Cloud webpage.  Does anybody have a copy of the 'flatten.txt' script?  I've used this before on my last computer, but since re-installing I have not been able to add this feature to Acrobat 9.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks

You need to contact Rick Borstein to update the link for the missing file. See his blog entry In case files are missing. Adobe has closed Acrobat.com and started a new service for Acrobat DC.
There are any number of scripts to provide add this feature with some options.

Selective Flattener by UVSAR, you may need to research where the user scripts are stored in the newer versions of Acrobat.
In the future, you should either copy your custom scripts to a remote location for restoration or keep a copy of the scripts and documentation on removable data or a networked location as a backup.

  • Missing preferences, tool bars, menu items after receiving CS3 file while I have CS2

    I have Indesign CS2. I rec'd a CS3 file not knowing it was CS3. A message appeared as follows:
Cannot Open. Please upgrade your plugins to the latest versions, or upgrade to the latest edition of Indesign.
I went into HELP, Configure plugins. Chose "all" and "required" plugins. I then clicked ok and it said "All plugins available when you restart application" and it still wouldn't open. Then I was sent an exchange version of the same file and it still wouldn't open. I received this message:
Cannot open. InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing or the file may be open in another application.
After this I wasn't able to get my CS2 screen back the way it was before. There's no introduction when I open the program, my tool bars aren't present, and the menu items aren't as extensive as they were before.
It was then suggested I reinstall Cs2. I logged in under the administrator. CS2 was different than the way I had it before but the tool bars were present. I then logged in under my name and there are still problems;no tool bars, missing menu items, no intro, etc.
    I then tried rebuilding my preferences using these instructions;
The fastest way to do this for InDesign CS2 (and any CS2 program) is to quit the program, then hold down Command-Option-Shift-Control immediately after starting it up again, and keep those keys held down. (On Windows, hold down Control-Alt-Shift.)
If you mashed on those keys quickly enough, youll get an alert when the splash screen appears offering to Delete InDesign Preferences File?. Click Yes, but dont release the modifier keys while you do so, because youre going to get a second alert to which you should also click Yes.
Now you can release the keys and InDesign will complete the boot-up process with fresh, clean Preferences.
Nothing happened so my program is still missing preferences, menu items and toolbars. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Dell Precision 360

First, you need to realize that resetting preferences will put them back to ground zero, not the way they were the last time you were happy.
You can try the key combination again and see if you are any faster (we're talking near instantaneous) or you can open your user profile, show hidden files and folders and navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Adobe\InDesign\Version 4.0 and rename the two files InDesign Defaults and InDesign SavedData.
In your case, a better first option, I think, would be to try System Restore which you'll find in System Tools under the Programs > Accessories heading on the start menu. Go back to the first restore point before you tried to open the file, if you can.
In any case, for you to open a CS3 .inx file you will need to be fully patched the the last CS2 update, and you should expect to see some text reflow issues, as well as missing any CS3 features that the author used which aren't supported in CS2.

  • No Deactivation Menu Item?

I want to move Dreamweaver CS3 to a new computer. I want to
deactivate the license on the old computer first. However, when I
click the Help menu, there are no Activate or Deactivate menu items
listed. The two menu items called Download e-license and Return
e-license are there but are grayed out.
Does anyone know how I should deactivate Dreamweaver CS3
since I appear to be missing the menu items. I already have the
product installed on 2 machines (per the license agreement) so I
think it will be important to deactivate this one before I install
    it on a 3rd machine.
    Thanks!

There is no iTunes menu item for photos. When you connect your iPhone in iTunes left sidebar (under "Devices") the main window will show the iPhone sync selections. Across the top of the window are sic tabs, each of which can be selected by clicking on them. They are Summary, Info, Ringtones, Music, Photos, Videos, and Applications. That's the photo tab you need to click.
See the picture on page 9 of the manual.

  • Ipod appears in itunes but without ipod menu items (eg. Music, Movies, Podc

When I connect my 5th generation ipod (2006) to my pc (windows xp), my ipod appears in itunes (v.7.6) in the left pane in itunes, but there are no ipod menu items listed under the ipod icon (eg. Music, Playlists, Movies, Podcasts, Audiobooks, etc.). When I left-click on the ipod icon, the "Set Up Your iPod" screen appears WITHOUT any of the check-box options. There ARE playlists on the ipod .. when disconnected from the pc, the ipod functions perfectly .. including listing all my Songs, Compilations, Podcasts, Playlists, etc. I have RESET my ipod successfully (starting from scratch - wiped out all data), but that did not eliminated the missing ipod menu items in itunes. Does anyone know how to fix this ??!!!

Hi, back to the original thread !
... i checked out http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93499 but it does not seem to resolve my problem ...
SOMETHING NEW i just noticed is that under Disk Manager for my "working ipod" (ie. all the menu items show up under the chevron in itunes) there is NO UNALLOCATED SPACE .. HOWEVER, with the "problem ipod", there is 78MB of unallocated space ... so i guess my next question is how do i reclaim the unallocated space without bricking my ipod ? Anyone ???

  • How to hide/disable menu items using Javascript in Acrobat 9 pro or later

We just wanted to know on how to hide/disable menu items for e.g. 'Open' menu item under 'File' menu in Acrobat 9 or later on Mac using Javascript. It would be useful if you could provide if any other option is in place already.

Not sure it will work, but you can try using the app.hideMenuItem() method. See reference here.

  • Acrobat 9 Standard- missing "Redax" menu

    Hi,
I have a weird problem that I hope someone on here can help me with.  Recently started working in a law firm as their IT guy.  Have many users of Acrobat 9 Standard, but only a handful of them have the "Redax" menu on the toolbar.  As I didn't perform the installs, I don't know how these installs were performed.  I have the CD media, but even when I do a "complete installation" on a computer, no "Redax" menu.
Can anyone tell me how this would only be showing up on a few of my users' computers, and how I can get it to show up on other users' Acrobat 9 Standard installations?
Thanks for any help/info anyone can give me!
    Dave

    Possible problems are:
Acrobat Reader: Make sure you are using a full version of Acrobat  6.0 or later, not Acrobat Reader. Redax does not work with Acrobat  Reader.
Certified Mode: Make sure you are not running Acrobat in certified mode:
In Acrobat, select Edit > Preferences > Startup.
Is the Use only certified plug-ins box in the Application Startup section checked?
    - If yes, you are running in certified mode and must switch to uncertified mode. Go to step 3.
    - If no, you are not running in certified mode. Click Cancel to exit the Startup Preferences, and then go to step 6.
Click the Use only certified plug-ins box to clear the checkmark. A  message is displayed, telling you to exit and restart Acrobat to load  any non-certified plug-ins that are present.
Click OK to remove the message.
Click OK again to exit the Preferences dialog box.
    Exit and restart Acrobat.
If Redax is installed, you should see the Redax menu.
