JavaScript support to store passwords to Firefox password manager utility for latest Firefox versions

I would like to store the password for a site as password manager does with "Remember Password" when we do a login. I'm planning to do it for automation purpose with below steps.
1. Load add-on when launching Firefox. This add-on will have a method to access Firefox Password Manager to store password.
2. Execute JavaScript that can call a method under add-on to store the password.
Note: Second script will hold all information required to store password under password manager utility.
Can anyone help me on getting the step one to be completed ?

Once you are at 10.6.8 Lion is still available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. to purchase it. Then within 3 days you will get an email with a code which you can use to download Lion from the App Store.  The price is $19.99.
Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

  • "**Urgent**" Please reply asap! Where can I find the 64 bit installer for latest Firefox (8.0) for MAC OS X ?

I tried looking for the same at :
    http://pv-mirror01.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/8.0/mac/en-US/
    and http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox//all.html
but these locations only show single build for MAC which I am assuming is 32-bit.

No, on Mac the installer is an i386/x86_64 universal binary. So both versions are in the same file.

I cant imagine that you don't have an update that works for my MAC. Please tell me how

Hello ourhouse2u, the update is for 10.7.5 as you said OR as system details said 10.5 ?
For 10.5.8 intel mac, [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-no-longer-works-mac-os-x-10-5#os=mac&browser=fx19 Firefox no longer works with Mac OS X 10.5]
16.0.2 is the latest version(for 10.5.8),see in the above link '''Option 3: Continue to use Mac OS X 10.5 and Firefox 16'''
for 10.7.5 you can use the latest, BUT first fix your user agent because is corrupted by Fast Browser Search ('''FBSMTWB''') and that identifies you as Firefox/3.5.2
    see your user agent:

  • Firefox Profile Manager not opening (V20.0.1)

I'm trying to open the Profile Manager in order to create a 'developers' profile. I was originally following this blog's instructions using the Run command.
    http://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2009/01/28/how-to-develop-a-firefox-extension/
The problem is that it's just opening up a new Firefox window, and nothing else. I then went to get more updated documentation, here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles?esab=a&as=aaq
And alas the same results. Here are the commands I have tried:
    firefox -p
    firefox -P
    firefox -profilemanager
    firefox -ProfileManager
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -p
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -profilemanager
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -ProfileManager
They all return the same result, which is just opening a new Firefox window.

Gah sorry about the mess of the commands. Here's my reattempt.
    firefox -p
    firefox -P
    firefox -profilemanager
    firefox -ProfileManager
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -p
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -profilemanager
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -ProfileManager

  • Is there a configuration option to prevent an unprivileged user from accessing the firefox profile manager and/or firefox safe mode?

I'm designing a locked-down Firefox user profile for use on public computers (common room in an apartment building). I can use existing plugins and add-ons to prevent access to about:config and to lock down the various firefox preferences but this is moot if a user can still access the firefox profile manager or can start firefox in safe mode. Is there any configuration setting that could prevent this?

    Hi...
Reinstalled 10.7.3 from the Combo Updater from apples website.
The only way to reinstall the Mac OS X or repair the startup disk running v10.7.3 Lion, is to use Lion Recovery The combo update does not do that.
How much free space on the startup disk? Not enough free space can account for the problems with your apps.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
    and no web-pages will load.
Try using OpenDNS as suggested here >  Safari 5.0.1 or later: Slow or partial webpage loading, or webpage cannot be found
Use OpenDNS for better speed, more security, includes anti phishing filters, prevents browser redirects, and it's free.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
    Click +
Enter these addresses exactly as you see them here.
    208.67.222.222
    Click +
    208.67.220.220
    Then click OK.

  • Firefox won't store my usernames and passwords

    '''bold text'''hi there,
firefox won't remember my usernames and passwords...
    need help.

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?<br />
If the latter happens then you have a problem with cookies that are not kept or the file that stores the cookies is corrupted.<br />
Such details are stored in a cookie.<br />
    * Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
    * You must allow that cookie (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions), especially for secure websites and if you let cookies expire when Firefox closes
    * Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"

  • HP ProtectTools password auto fill in does not work with Firefox 4

My HP Compaq 6715b has a credential manager called ProtectTools that stores user name and password for favorite websites and auto fills the information when the website is opened up. This worked fine with Firefox 3.x.x but since I upgraded to Firefox 4 it is no longer "syncing". I have checked the program and I am "logged in" which is what is necessary to activate this program. I have tried logging off and then back on without any results. I have tried to go back to the 3.x.x version of Firefox and cannot do that either. Technical support for my computer no longer is available from HP due to it's age (2007). Does anyone know if Firefox 4 and ProtecTools is compatible? What do I need to do to get these two "communicating" again?

I think I solved the problem. I have CCleaner software and had the clean cookies checked. After unchecking the box and restarting, the auto login works fine. So if anyone has a cleaner program or anti-virus program with clean cookies enabled, auto login for google or yahoo will not work.

  • I use master password & if I change passwords on a site, it doesn't ask to "change" Also doesn't ask to "remember" with new usernames/passwords. Does anyone know how to fix this or add usernames & passwords to saved password page on Firefox.

Firefox (I think version 5, maybe 4) does not ask to "remember" passwords anymore nor does it ask to "change" a password when I've done that. It didn't ask when I changed my Facebook password & I have to log in each time so I removed my username & password for FB on Firefox's "saved password" page. When I've don't that before, it asks to "remember" but doesn't anymore. I use a master password.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.
To see all History and Cookie settings, choose:
*Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
*Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"
The website may be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving the name and password.
You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox save the name and password.

  • What can you do to access Password options in the Security window if your Firefox browser won't display the options?

I want to stop and prevent my Firefox browser from saving website passwords, which I understand can be done using the Security window.
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/security-and-passwords-settings?esab=a&s=passwords&r=1&as=s
Unfortunately, once opened, the Security window doesn't display the password options check boxes for me even though that's what the support site says the browser should do it. Neither can I get the Security window to extend to display the other potential options, which leads to me think there aren't any other options.
Any ideas what I can do about this problem? I'm running Mac OS 10.8.5 and Firefox 30.0. Thanks for any advice!

(The following definitely relevant to Windows, but I'm not sure about Mac)
Another thing Safe Mode does is ignore the localstore.rdf file, which contains toolbar/window/dialog layout information and sometimes can become corrupted. To eliminate localstore.rdf as a factor, you can rename the file and customize from scratch.
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
    * (classic menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste '''about:support''' in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, click the "Show in Finder" button.
Leaving that window open, switch back over to Firefox and Exit/Quit
Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename '''localstore.rdf''' to something like localstore.old
Start Firefox up again. Any improvement?
