Javascript while selecting all values in multiselect option of prompt

Hi,
I am getting javascript error while doing following steps. It seems to be a bug in OBIEE.
- Create a dashboard prompt, add a column with multiselect option.
- Use this dashboard prompt in your report.
- Click '...' button to select values for this dashboard prompt.
- Now click '<<' button to include all values and then click 'ok' button.
- Now again click '...' button to modify values.
When you click, you will get a javascript error. If debugging is ON in your browser setting then you will get a prompt. If it is turned OFF you can see it at the bottom left corner of your page.
Any idea how can i resolve this issue?
Thanks.
Aasim Khan.

No, I'm not getting the error. Able to do all the steps specified by you and even adding, removing etc... Tested in 10.1.3.4.
Which version of OBIEE are you using?
I think it might be because of large number of values it is extracting in your case (don't know exactly).

  • Selecting Multiples Values from Multiselect Box

    Hi
    Here is my requirement ,
    Multiselect List Box should display Simulator_Type Values
    Simulator_Type Values           Values to search for in the column simulator type
    AC - small signal                              AC
    HB - Carrier                                    HB
    SP - Linear Noise                            SP - L
    SP - s parameters                           SP - s
    TR - Transient                               TR
    DC - operational point                     DC
    ET - Envelope Transient                  ET
    SSNA                                           SSNA
    [nothing]                                      nilDepending on the values selected in the multiselect values the data has to be dipayed where the value is in the simulator type column
    For Eg : AC - small signal is selected in the :p1_simulator_type multiselect box, The data where the word AC is in simulator_type column should display
    Examples of data in the simulator_Type column:
    SIMULATOR_TYPE
    ac, dcOp, Periodic Steady-pss
    AC - small signal
    AC Small Signal, Operating Point, Periodic Steady
    AC - small signal, SSNA
    DC - operational point
    ET - Envelope Transient
    So , here if i select AC - small signal from the multiselect list box , then the data where "AC" is there in simulator_type has to be displayed , in this case the data associated with
    ac, dcOp, Periodic Steady-pss
    AC - small signal
    AC Small Signal, Operating Point, Periodic Steady
    AC - small signal, SSNA
    has to be displayed...
    currently i have the report query below which is working but only when one simulator type is selected ....
    select
    * from   DW_RFA_JOBDATA
    where  RFA_SUBMIT_TIME >= :P1_START_DATE
    and RFA_SUBMIT_TIME < :P1_END_DATE
    AND RFA_SIMULATOR_TYPE like '%'||:P1_SIMULATOR_TYPE||'%'Could any body please let me know how do i get data when multiple values are selected...
    Please let me know any further explanation is needed for the question
    Thank you

    Hello,
    It seems to me like you don’t really understand how multi select items work in APEX. This type of items (we are talking about multi-select list, checkbox and the shuttle item) don’t really returned multiple values. They returned a single value that contains multiple segments, each include one valid option. By default, each segment is delimited with a colon (:). In your case it means that if you chose two values from your static LOV, the returned value will look similar to “HB:DC” (or any other combination of options). Now you need to work with this value.
    The way your RFA_SIMULATOR_TYPE column build, you can’t really work with the multi-select value, as you’ll never find a match to it, as this is actually an artificial value that only exist as a result of your multi-select.
    Regarding the new query you are trying, you wrote yourself that “i am getting the data with all the simulator_type select”, and that is correct. Where in this query you are using your filter (:P1_SIMULATOR_TYPE)? This is not the way to go.
    You need to break the compound value returned by your multi-select items, and work individually with each segment. You can do that in two ways. The simple one, as I already suggested, is to add another column that will contain only the code describing the simulator (similar to the returned value of the static LOV). In this case, using the instr() function you are checking if the column value is included in your filter (it’s a revered angle – you are actually checking if the single column value is included in your filter and not if the filter included in your column).
    The second option is a bit more complicated and it involves slicing the filter itself and dynamically build your query, using the “SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query)” report option. In this case we are going to use the APEX built-in function APEX_UTIL.STRING_TO_TABLE(). The following is a very simple code example that you’ll need to adapt to your scenario:
    declare
      q      varchar2(4000);
      filter APEX_APPLICATION_GLOBAL.VC_ARR2;
    begin
      q := 'select * from emp where ';
      filter := apex_util.string_to_table('10:20');
      for i in 1..filter.count loop
        if i = 1 then
          q := q || 'deptno = ' || filter(i);
        else
          q := q || 'or deptno = ' || filter(i);
        end if;
      end loop;
      return q;
    end;In your case the parameter for the string_to_table is your filter item, and you can use LIKE as your comparison operator.

    Arie.

  • Select all values from field in LOV

    I need to create a LOV in Discoverer that works as follows: I have 4 values in a dimension, but I want the user could select another value, something as 'all'. This value includes the values in the dimension table and any other value in the relationed fields.
    For example, I have four values, A,B,C and D. But I want to add another value, 'All' that matches this four values as any other one. How can I do that?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Javier,
    When you create a parameter, you have the option to let the user to enter multiple values. Therefore, if you have a LOV, the user can select one or multiple or all values.

  • Getting error while selecting LOV value

    Hi all,
    I am getting the below error in R12 apps while selecting the lov value from list (But it is working properly in 11i apps and loacal jdeveloper.)
    Error: Stale Data
    The requested page contains stale data. This error could have been caused through the use of the browser's navigation buttons (the browser Back button, for example).
    Cause:
    The view object ProjectInformationAM.EmployeeLOVVO1 contained no record. The displayed records may have been deleted, or the current record for the view object may not have been properly initialized.
    To proceed, please select the Home link at the top of the application page to return to the main menu. Then, access this page again using the application's navigation controls (menu, links, and so on) instead of using the browser's navigation controls like Back and Forward.
    The lov query is select employee_number,full_name from per_all_people_f
    I have tried both internal and external lov but both cases it is showing the error in R12
    I have used below code in PR of create page, still no use
    if(!am.getEmployeelovVO1().isPreparedForExecution())
    am.getEmployeelovVO1().executeQuery();
    Row row1 = am.getEmployeelovVO1().createRow();
    am.getEmployeelovVO1().insertRow(row1);
    row1.setNewRowState(Row.STATUS_INITIALIZED);
    Except this lov all lov's working properly,
    Any one help on this it is very very urgent....
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I had a similar issue just now, and we fixed it in this way. But the case is probably different compared to your situation.
    Situation:
    - custom inquiry page
    - case: manual search, so not results based or Auto Customization Criteria
    - multiple search criteria fields
    - separate AM for all the LOV fields
    - each LOV has its own VO
    - Results table on same page, but with its own VO
    - each search criteria field has Lov mapping to the corresponding external Lov region
    Issue: when selecting a value via the Lov and coming back into the search page, I received the stale data error.
    searched lots of places and finally figured out what was wrong in my case.
    Each search field had its BC4J properties set to the VO of the results table. And since we wanted to make a manual search thing, this is not good.
    Removing the View Instance value and the View Attribute value in the properties of the search fields resolved the error.
    Hoperfully this can help other beginners, like me, in finding a solution for the same mistakes... :)

  • InfoSet Query - Long Description while selecting variable values

    Dear Experts,
    We have an InfoSet Query on different InfoObjects like 0CUSTOMER, 0CUST_COMPC etc and the common link between these InfoObjects is CUSTOMER.
    We have a variable created on this CUSTOMER. The requirement is that when this query is executed, user should be able to select a value of Customer (F4 help) and at that time, he should be able to view both Key and Long Text of Customer.
    We know that if we change the CUSTOMER InfoObject --> BEx Properties tab, then we can display Long Text and Key in Query Selection Screens. However we can not do that because it would affect all queries in which this InfoObject is used.
    If we go to Query Design, and choose "Long Text and Key" in properties of Customer, then system displays Long Text and Key of Customer but after the report execution is done.
    We want to display the Long Text of Customer to User at the time of selection and that too without making any InfoObject level change.
    If it was InfoProvider, we could have done it using "Provider specific properties of Characteristic" option. But this is InfoSet and that option does not appear here.
    Please suggest the solution.
    Regards

    Rohit,
    Are you looking to display long text for infoobject instead of short description ?
    Then go tp rsd1>infoobject>display/change-->master data/texts -->text table properties -->check long text exists.
    It supports a long text field with a length of 60 characters
    Activate the infoobject

  • Error while selecting NULL value from Popup Key LOV(numeric or value error)

    Hi,
    I have a item P1_DEPTNO with following properties.

    Only in case of NULL value, I am getting this error.
    ANY idea, why this error is coming??
    Thanks,

    Hi Varad,
    I did the following change
    Null display value - (blank) // by default it is displaying '%' in the select this
    Null return value - -1
    but when I select % (null value) from the popup list, it displays the return value -1 in the text field.
    My question is why it is displaying the return value -1 in the text field...*It should display the display value in the text field (i.e blank in this case)*
    then, I did the following change
    Null display value - (blank) // by default it is displaying '%' in the select this
    Null return value - // a single space, so that when I select %(null value) from the list, it should display blank in the text field...
    then I did the following change in the PL\SQL process.
    PL\SQL process
    declare
    v1 number;
    begin
    if :P1_DEPTNO = ' ' then // -- checking the value of single space ' ' when we select %(null) in the popup list, BUT even I select %(null), control is not coming here.
        v1 := 0;
    else
        v1 := :P1_DEPTNO;
    end if;
    // rest of the PL\SQL process

  • CSV output selects all values returned by htmldb_item.select_list_from_lov

    I have a report with several columns using htmldb_item.select_list_from_lov. When I enable CSV Output (export to Excel) All the values in each of the columns get exported to Excel, not only the one selected in the report. For example. A value of ABC is selected in the report (stored in the database and this is a valid value in the LOV). In the drop down I also have values of DEF, GHI and IJK. I would expect only ABC to be exported, but I actually get ABC, DEF, GHI, IJK (all possible values) instead all displayed in the same column.
    Any ideas?

    I was able to work through this problem. Thank You.

    One way to get the values.
    declare @definition nvarchar(max);
    select @definition = m.definition
    from sys.objects o
    inner join sys.sql_modules m on o.object_id = m.object_id
    where schema_name(o.schema_id) = 'dbo' and o.name = 'Rle_Currency_Lst';
    set @definition = SUBSTRING(@definition, CHARINDEX('''', @definition), LEN(@definition));
    set @definition = LEFT(@definition, CHARINDEX(')', @definition) - 1);
    declare @myXML AS XML;
    set @myXML = N'<H><r>' + REPLACE(SUBSTRING(@definition, CHARINDEX('''', @definition), LEN(@definition)), ',', '</r><r>') + '</r></H>'
    declare @result table(myvalues nvarchar(100));
    insert @result(myvalues)
    SELECT Vals.id.value('.', 'NVARCHAR(100)') AS val
    FROM @myXML.nodes('/H/r') AS Vals(id)
    update @result set myvalues = REPLACE(myvalues, '''', '');
    select * from @result;
    Note that rules is a deprecated feature and will be removed in a future version of SQL Server.  The replacement for rules is CHECK CONSTRAINTS.  You may well want to consider a plan to migrate your current rules to check constraints.

  • "Select All" option in Multiselect Query Filter

    Hi,
    Is there a way to select all values in a multiselect filter option in a query. currently i have created a variable or a mandatory filter which allows me to select all values one by one and then move it to right side, but its very painful option in certain cases where in i need to select all values. Is there a way where in one can select all values with a single click in Query Filter in Web Analyzer.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You can give range values in the Query designer.
    You can include variable selection where user can enter the selections with their own selections.

  • Dropdown list with custom All Values option

    Hi,
    We are running VC on 7.4 SP2. I have a dropdown list which gets its' values from a BW query. This works great except that I want to add a custom entry which selects all values.
    In BW you would do this by setting the selection variable to "" as in nothing specified/empty. This is also the default setting in VC (you made no selection so you will get all results) but once you select something this can not be deselected.
    So the idea is to add a custom entry All with value "" but apparently this gets send to BW as """" which is not a valid value. VC does not allow to use an empty value field.
    So basically I am stuck here. Any of you found a solution to this problem?
    regards,
    Matthias

    Hi Matthias,
    I see your point. I could suggest two options:
    1. In the dropdown input control, delete the value. Then press submit.
    This works fine, only we don't get the empty value in the list.
    2. To have the empty value in the list, like this:
    Add to the entries of the list:
    Then edit the mapping to the service to convert * into an empty string:

  • How to create a search all value on list

    I am trying to create a form which will enable user to select
    an item on a list to filter records, or allow him to not select
    anything and see all records.
    I created a generic form with one list on it and a submit
    button. Values are:
    Item Label Value
    Select All-- (I left this blank)
    Bicycles--Bicycles
    Motorcycles--Motorcycles
    Skateboards--Skateboards
    My results page seems to be okay. I created a recordset and a
    dynamic table. In recordset, the default varable that was created
    shows Name: colname
    Type: Text
    Default value: -1
    Runtime Value: $_POST['2']
    Problem is that when I select one of the items from the list
    on the form (ex. skateboards), my results page shows all records
    for skateboards. When I select "Select All" from the list, I don't
    receive any records. What can I do to allow user not to enter any
    value and have him receive all records?
    Thanks in advance....

    I found the answer for all of you trying to do the same
    thing:
    In your "Select All" value, put %
    then, select 'contains' instead of = in your filter. That
    should do it! Hopefully this helps someone!

  • Hide "All values" in input controls?

    Hey guys,
    I'm wondering that I could not find my question already in this forum but however - this is my question:
    Isn't it possible to hide the value "All values" in the input controls? In some cases it just doesn't make sense to leave that into the input-control-field.
    I.e. if I want to give the possibility to switch between Euro, kEUR and mEUR I need to hide the "All values" radio button (see screenshot).
    But how can I do that?
    Thanks for your help !
    Oliver

    Hi,
    That was a very useful answer!
    I have a quick question - I am in BO 4.0 (not 4.1) and I would like to default the "All values" selection to a specific value.
    I have defined the input control using Var_Currency_Type (dimension) and have assigned two values i.e. 'USD' & 'Local Currency'.   The default value is 'USD'.
    The input control works fine. When I select either USD or Local Currency.
    but, I do not see any table when I select 'all values'.  I would like it to display 'USD' when user selects 'All Values'.
    =======================================================================
    In the format table (two tables - one for USD and one for Local currency), I have put in the formula:
    x - Hide when following formula is true
    =ReportFilter([Var_Curency_Type])<>"USD" -- for USD table
    and = ReortFilter([Var_Currency_Type])<>"Local Currency" for Local Currency table.
    ======================================================================
    Does anyone have encoutered this situation.  Could you please share the solution?
    Thanks for your time.
