InfoSet Query - Long Description while selecting variable values

Dear Experts,
We have an InfoSet Query on different InfoObjects like 0CUSTOMER, 0CUST_COMPC etc and the common link between these InfoObjects is CUSTOMER.
We have a variable created on this CUSTOMER. The requirement is that when this query is executed, user should be able to select a value of Customer (F4 help) and at that time, he should be able to view both Key and Long Text of Customer.
We know that if we change the CUSTOMER InfoObject --> BEx Properties tab, then we can display Long Text and Key in Query Selection Screens. However we can not do that because it would affect all queries in which this InfoObject is used.
If we go to Query Design, and choose "Long Text and Key" in properties of Customer, then system displays Long Text and Key of Customer but after the report execution is done.
We want to display the Long Text of Customer to User at the time of selection and that too without making any InfoObject level change.
If it was InfoProvider, we could have done it using "Provider specific properties of Characteristic" option. But this is InfoSet and that option does not appear here.
Please suggest the solution.

Are you looking to display long text for infoobject instead of short description ?
Then go tp rsd1>infoobject>display/change-->master data/texts -->text table properties -->check long text exists.
It supports a long text field with a length of 60 characters

Hi,
In the Web Interface for the component Select Variable value,if there is planning level mentioned in the attributes.Does that make any difference to the Variable value.

Hi,
If you do not add planning level the text of the value of variable will not be displayed. For eg. if your variable is on Cost Center and if you have included planning level then when you display variable value in web interface, the text can also be displayed along with the value if planning level is mentioned in the properties.

Selected variable value is different from the displayed value

Hi all,
I have an issue with variable selection in portal. I have a IO - customer which is compounded to source system. So I have soem customers with the same key with different sources. And I have a variable created on customer. For ex - i have 3 customers like below.
SA/1234567
BP/1234567
F5/1234567
1 - And when I search for a customer 1234567 - I find only one customer that is SA/1234567. And IO properties are set to read all the masterdata values and not infoprovider or posted values. - thats issue one - I would like to see all the three and let the user select what ever he wants.
2 - Now when I select SA/1234567 and run the report. It shows me data for F5/1234567 - which is correct data for that customer. But in the template I have a info field web item to display the selected variables on the screen. That info field shows the Customer as BP/1234567 - which is wrong and confusing. I checked the properties of the web item and everything seems ok. So in the variable screen I get a value, the result set if of another value and the variable value that shows in the Info tab is another customer. - Driving me nuts
3 - When I recreate the same scenario in 3.x query - everything works the way they should - this only happens in 7.0 query. What am I missing here??
Any pointer or insight is appreciated - sorry for the long post.

Sorry - its not how its displaying the values rather what its displaying - it misses on 2 other values from the three - though the Bex setting in IO are set to read all the values from materdata table. And in the query I'm using IO properties. And display settings are ok

Getting error while selecting LOV value

I am getting the below error in R12 apps while selecting the lov value from list (But it is working properly in 11i apps and loacal jdeveloper.)
Error: Stale Data
The requested page contains stale data. This error could have been caused through the use of the browser's navigation buttons (the browser Back button, for example).
Cause:
The view object ProjectInformationAM.EmployeeLOVVO1 contained no record. The displayed records may have been deleted, or the current record for the view object may not have been properly initialized.
To proceed, please select the Home link at the top of the application page to return to the main menu. Then, access this page again using the application's navigation controls (menu, links, and so on) instead of using the browser's navigation controls like Back and Forward.
The lov query is select employee_number,full_name from per_all_people_f
I have tried both internal and external lov but both cases it is showing the error in R12
I have used below code in PR of create page, still no use

I had a similar issue just now, and we fixed it in this way. But the case is probably different compared to your situation.
Situation:
- custom inquiry page
- case: manual search, so not results based or Auto Customization Criteria
- multiple search criteria fields
- separate AM for all the LOV fields
- each LOV has its own VO
- Results table on same page, but with its own VO
- each search criteria field has Lov mapping to the corresponding external Lov region
Issue: when selecting a value via the Lov and coming back into the search page, I received the stale data error.
searched lots of places and finally figured out what was wrong in my case.
Each search field had its BC4J properties set to the VO of the results table. And since we wanted to make a manual search thing, this is not good.
Removing the View Instance value and the View Attribute value in the properties of the search fields resolved the error.
Hoperfully this can help other beginners, like me, in finding a solution for the same mistakes... :)

Bex. Query in 3.5 : All Variable values using Text Elements not shown

I am using a Variable, for which I am suppose to select more than 15 values . After executing the report, I am trying look for these values using Layout--> Display Text Elements --> All.
Only first 10-11 values are shown and the rest are shown as ...
As such, I cannot see all the values in WAD too, in the info tab.
Is there any limitations to display the values with text elements ?
Any idea how to display all the values ?

You are right. I can do this if I select Filter values.
But, I am trying to show the values entered for the variables using Layout-->Display Text elements --. Alll or variables.
These are the values shown in the web template. The filter values goes to the data analysis tab, which are fine.
I want to display all the values in the information tab, but only few values are show and rest are shown as ... The same is the case when I select Layout-->Display Text elements --> All or variables. after I execute the query.

RRI - Jump query, unable to pass the variable value from source to target

I've a source query which has a variable on 0vendor, from this query i jump to another query for which i want to pass the this variable value, in the target query i've vendor in free characteristics (no filter or variable in there), and in RSBBS i tried the assignment details options keeping vendor as generic, tried variable and the variable name but nothing seem to work.
But when query is run i can jump into target query but the vendor variable value doesnt get passed thru the values i get in target query is for all rather than for the variable entered vendor value in the source.
btw we're in NW2004s.
any help appreciated with points.

Anyways, I read somewhere that a variable with replacement path in target query would work, tried it seem to work.
let me know if there other way to do it without creating a variable in target query.

InfoSet Query: Syntax Error while generating the program.

The InfoSet Query throws up a Syntax error while generating the program.
So, we are not able to change the Infoset using the Infoset Query through SQ01.
The error is as follows:-

There is an error in your query, specifically in the definition of CRMT_REPORT_LOCATORLIST. In the short dump (transaction ST22) you will see more details and the exact location of an error if you just scroll down.
I can't tell more because this problem is specific to your system, to which I have no access. Read the whole dump and look at all the objects mentioned there.

Error while selecting NULL value from Popup Key LOV(numeric or value error)

I did the following change
Null display value - (blank) // by default it is displaying '%' in the select this
Null return value - -1
but when I select % (null value) from the popup list, it displays the return value -1 in the text field.
My question is why it is displaying the return value -1 in the text field...*It should display the display value in the text field (i.e blank in this case)*
then, I did the following change

Query property "Save and reuse variable value" doesn't work in BW EHP1

We have a workbook which contain 4 queries, every different worksheet is a different query.
All the queries are on the Same InfoCube and all the queries use the same variables.
In the properties of the query n.2 we set the parameter "Save and reuse variable values" then we refresh the 1st query and all work fine (the system asks the variable values) but when we refresh the 2nd query the system doesn't use the same variable values that we have inserted for the query n.1
We don't have the same problem in 7.0.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
I suppose, you need to set the 'Save and reuse variable values' for each query individually in the workbook. I am not sure however there is a option where you can specify to apply the settings of one query to all queries in the work book.

Web Report - Selecting variable value

Hi,
I have web report, where one selection variable for company code is there.
If i am running the report like compnay code 2000 it is working.
The web report is having a facility to select multiple company code like >1000. Means before the text box to enter the company code 1000, there is another selection box where we can select =,>,< etc like that.
If i am selecting > and company code 1000. Then report is not displaying any thing.
But we have company codes > 1000 like 1001-1007,2000,3000.
Could you please advise me what might be the wrong with this case.

One possibility would be that you are having a security issue. If you do not have authorization to see ALL companies > 1000, then your report will show no data (even if you do have authorization to see company 2000).

Infoset Query - Long run times

Hi All,
I was running a Bex query on top of an infoset query a few days ago with no problems and very good performance. Now, returning any number of records it runs and timesout. I know that there will be recommendations related to statistics and possibly those related to the active table of the ODS. I have checked these and they have been recently updated. In fact, when I manually update the statistics the behaviour is the same. The structure of the infoset has not changed.
We are running 3.0B on DB2.
Any ideas?

check the difference between X and Y hierarchy.

Query performance when multiple single variable values selected

Hi Gurus,
I have a sales analysis report that I run with some complex selection criteria. One of the variables is the Sales Orgranisation.
If I run the report for individual sales organisations, the performance is excellant, results are dislayed in a matter of seconds. However, if I specify more than one sales organisation, the query will run and run and run.... until it eventually times out.
For example;
I run the report for SALEORG1 and the results are displayed in less than 1 minute.
I then run the report for SALEORG2 and again the results are displayed in less than 1 minute.
If I try to run the query for both SALEORG1 and SALEORG2, the report does not display any results but continues until it times out.
Anybody got any ideas on why this would be happening?

While compression is generally something that you should be doing, I don't think it is a factor here, since query performance is OK when using just a sinlge value.
I would do two things - first make sure the DB stats for the cube are current. You might even consider increasing the sample rate for the stats collection if you are using one. You don't mention the DB you use, or what type of index is on Salesorg which could play a role. Does the query run against a multiprovider on top of multiple cubes, or is there just one cube involved.
If you still have problems after refreshing the stats, then I think the next step is to get a DB execution plan for the query by running the query from RSRT debugging mode when it is run with just one value and another when run with multiple values to see if the DB is doing something different - seek out your DBA if you are not familiar with executoin plan.

InfoSet query - eliminate duplicates while calculating amounts

I got InfoSet consist of FI DSO and Dunning data DSO.
FI fields in Infoset are:
AC_DOC_NUM
LINE_ITEM
AMOUNT
Dunn. fields in InfoSet are:
AC_DOC_NUM
LINE_ITEM
DUNN_NUM
DUNN_AMOUNT
ODS are joined through AC_DOC_NUM + LINE_ITEM fields.
Every combination of FI (ac_doc_num+line_item) can have several dunn_num, and as a result I get wrong (larger) amounts in InfoSet while summing up on ac_doc_num level.
Is there any possibility to get valid FI amounts on Query level?

Here I need to have the data for a scheduling aggrement where there is a shipping done in a month, the problem is that I am getting the data for all the schesduling aggrements which were happend once in a month, if for the same aggrement number if there 2 or 3 days then i am getting the average of all
example:Data in DSO level
Scheduling no.        Date           Value
1200000001       24.10.2009       20
1200000001       27.10.2009       10
1200000045       29.10.2009       50
1200000128       03.10.2009       40
for the above i am getting the duplicate records i.e. same value getting repeted for "n" times then i am calculating the values in reporting by dividing the value with row count. i am able to get the correct value, but if the case of above getting the average
Data in Infoset level
Scheduling no: 1200000001
Infoset values 202020202010101010+10 = 150
in report i am calculting like this 150/10 = 15
where as the exact value for the above is 30
Scheduling no:1200000045
Infoset values 5050505050 = 250
in report i am calculting like this 250/5 = 50 which is correct
Scheduling no:1200000128
Infoset values 4040404040 = 200
in report i am calculting like this 200/5 = 40 which is correct

Javascript while selecting all values in multiselect option of prompt

Hi,
I am getting javascript error while doing following steps. It seems to be a bug in OBIEE.
- Create a dashboard prompt, add a column with multiselect option.
- Use this dashboard prompt in your report.
- Click '...' button to select values for this dashboard prompt.
- Now click '<<' button to include all values and then click 'ok' button.
- Now again click '...' button to modify values.
When you click, you will get a javascript error. If debugging is ON in your browser setting then you will get a prompt. If it is turned OFF you can see it at the bottom left corner of your page.
Any idea how can i resolve this issue?

No, I'm not getting the error. Able to do all the steps specified by you and even adding, removing etc... Tested in 10.1.3.4.
Which version of OBIEE are you using?
I think it might be because of large number of values it is extracting in your case (don't know exactly).
