Javke 1.4.1 J2EE 1.3 compatability question

I have successfully run the static compatability tests against a .ear file built for and targetted at a J2EE 1.3 environment (SunOne AS 7.1).
A number of issues were identified by the test, but they all refer to the J2EE 1.4 specification ( see example below).
"Please refer to J2EE 1.4 Specification Section #8.1.2 for further information."
In it's current form the report will be confusing to the intended audience, they will expect to see J2EE 1.3 issues and references.
Is it possible to specify the target J2EE specification that the Application should be validated against?
If not could you give me the download link for javke 1.3.1, which I believe validates against the J2EE 1.3 specification.

Just installed Forte as a Simple Server on a Digital UNIX (v4.0d) box (being
a VMSbot it was much easier than I thought). We want to use it to interface

I'm having trouble finding media that contains C++ v5.4.-006 for the Unix

  • J2SE 1.4 & J2EE 1.3 compatability

Is J2SE 1.4 compatible with J2EE 1.3, or do I have to keep on using J2SE 1.3.1? J2EE docs imply 1.3.1 is the only tested version.

i had an EJB formation at Sun and the instructor told us to keep j2sdk1.3.1 because 1.4.0 has many Swing bugs.

  • Compatibility question re: different versions of Pages?

If I upgrade to the iOS version 5.5 of Pages in order to access my iCloud drive on my iPhone, will it be compatible with Pages 4.3 (from iWork 09) which I am using on my Mac?  More specifically, if I edit a Pages 4.3 document in the cloud (created on my Mac) with the newer version while on my iPhone, will I then be able to open it on my Mac (or vice-versa)?
Upgrading to the newer version of Pages on my Mac is definitely not an option due to the fact that it is missing so many features already present in iWork 09.

A JSP runs on a server. It is actually a servlet that merely outputs HTML (usually) to the browser. Your browser does not (really) know the difference between a JSP and a static HTML page and PERL cgi generated page. There is no interaction what-so-ever between the JSP portion and your browser. There will not be any books about compatibility issues between JSP and browsers since its a non-issue.
The previous reply suggesting JavaScript conflicts is entirely true. If you want a flipping nightmare job, write javascript that is compatible on NN 3.0 and above and IE 4.0 and above. It's a godd**ned mess.

  • Monitor Compatibility Question

I plan on purchasing a Mac Pro with the Radeon X1900 XT card in the near future. I have been shopping around for a good monitor, and the Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP (found here: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku= 320-4335) caught my eye. However, at the bottom of the tech specs, it lists only PC under "Compatibility." I know of other people who have used Dell monitors for their Macs, and this monitor does have DVI, so I don't see why it would not be compatible with the Mac Pro. Does anyone know definitively whether or not this monitor would work?

    Hello,
You should be just fine. The majority of monitors are listed as compatible with PC's only. The simple reason is that the manufacturers don't care to test them with Macs and have all their resources devoted to supporting what they know.
If they mentioned that it would work with a Mac, then they would be stuck trying to answer your questions on the phone if you needed help. Since they don't use Macs, and don't maintain a staff of Mac trained people, it is easier to just omit official support. That way they can just tell you that they don't support Macs and hang-up the phone.
I've been using PC monitors with my Macs since before Apple even supported PC monitors at all (you used to have to buy monitors with Apple specific cables). I would just use an adapter to convert the PC connector to connect to the Mac video port.
In all my years, I've never found a PC monitor that would not work with my Mac. And, that still holds true today. I've used several low-end monitors with my current machines, and all work fine.
I've even got a bargain basement DVI monitor connected right-now, and it works perfectly.
Basically, if you want official support and a guarantee, then buy a monitor that specifically lists Mac compatibility.
But, if you are willing to accept that their phone support will avoid helping you, then go with any brand you like.
Understand that Dell is primarily interested in selling and supporting Dell computers. They have no interest in fielding calls from Mac users because they are not going to be familiar with OS X. Naturally, they will list PC compatibility because they know Windows very well.
But, you should also understand that the only difference between an Intel-based Mac and an Windows PC, is that the Intel-based Mac can also run OS X. Otherwise, they are just different brands of computers that use pretty much the same hardware.
    I hope this helps.

  • Urgent report compatability question

We have some reports that are out of wack.   The original .rpt file was created with CR v8.
I've already tried to modify and save it with visual studio.net but the application that prints the report stated that it couldnt open the report.
I can get my hands on CR v. 8.5 but I open and modify the report, will it stay with v.8 compatibility ?
    Thanks for any replies

once you save an rpt file in a newer version, it will contain the new version format. i would make a copy 1st to double check to ensure that is your issue, the file may be corrupt also.

  • Backward Compatibility Question

Our ADS system is running with Basis 7.0 SAPKB70005
Can we develop forms on systems with a lower Basis version e.g. 6.4?
    Are there backward compatibility issues?
    Regards,
    Lavaughn

    Hi Lavaughn
it depends a bit on what you want to do.
If you want to develop the form on the 6.40 box and then render it with the 7.0 Application Server, the answer is No, as the solution always needs to be on the same NW level (i.e. either '04 or 2004s). SAP development always coordinates changes between Designer, ADS, Reader, and the SAP development environment - and there are a few incompatible changes between '04 and 2004s.
If you want to develop and render the forms on the 7.0 box and integrate data from a lower-release backend (e.g. R/3 Enterprise), you can do that for interactive scenarios using RFC connections to transfer the data and/or the PDF form from system to system.
Do not attempt to do this for print forms. The amount of data that may have to be transferred will heavily impact the form generation time.

  • Compatibility question and syncing

I plan to get a new laptop for work. Seeing as it will come with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and my iMac is running OS X 10.4.11 Tiger am I likely to have any issues with compatibility?
    Or should it work fine?
I know that, in theory, it should be fine but has anyone come across any problems?
Also, will Bonjour allow me to sync certain useful applications, primarily my Contacts and Calendar so I am always using the most up to date info? Or will that require a .Mac account?
    Cheers people.

Both IntelMacs!? Should be no problem.
i think .mac is the only way to sync, but not positive... thinking there was some third party application once that helped with that, but drawing a blank right now.

  • Compatibility question with Nortel phones

    Hello,
I just introduced a Cisco SP200-48P switch into our Nortel environment. When I plug the phone into a POE port, the port is unresponsive (doesn't light up), and the Nortel phone doesn't power up.
The data aspect of the port is fine, when I plug a computer into the switchport.
Am I running into a compatibility issue with Nortel phones, or should they work just fine with the switch right out of the box.
    Thank you,
    John

Hi jdamone, please verify you're using a POE port. The left side of the port banks are POE. The right side are not. If the 1-12 and 25-36 would be POE on a 48 port switch. And yes, if the phone is 802.3af compliant, it should work out of the box, no problems. If you're connecting to the correct port and verified the wire and the phone is POE then the next step would be to upgrade the switch firmware to latest version.

  • Compatibility question UCCX with CCM V5. ???

    like the above info !
    Dears good day,
i just need a help to know if there is a compatibility for the integration between newest UCCX and CUCM V 5.x or not ?
and also need t ask about how much maximum CTI ports for IPCC premium licences till now we have 20 CTI Port as the attached
we know that maximum number of agent for IPCC is 300 agent per cluster which consist of two server one active another passive my info is correct or not  ??
kindly check the attached snap for license .

    Hi
Yes, the UCCX system itself can have 20 concurrent calls (one per CTI port)
Your 10 agents can all be talking to callers (agent-connected calls do not continue to hold a CTI port).
With Premium you just buy more agent seats to get more ports. It's an oddity of the licensing that Standard/Enhanced edition allow you as many ports as you like, but Premium needs agent seats.
Also you may struggle to buy licenses for this system as it is end of life, and end of sale. You'll have to speak to Cisco..

  • J2EE, JSTL and JSF questions

I am trying to learn J2EE/JSTL/JSF and have quite a few general questions. Any help on any of these is appreciated.
    1) Is there a way, just by using J2EE/Java to "manipulate" an XML file. Not just parse and read it's data but actually add nodes to the file?
    2) I've been reading quite a bit on JSTL and JSF recently. Is JSF supposed to be an alternative to Struts and JSTL an alternative to scriptlet coding?
    3) I am also working on creating a message board but throwing around a couple of ways to implement it. Either (a) using a database to store posts and a JSP interface or (b) using an XML document to store postings. Which of these two seem best or is there a better option?
    4) Is there an easy way to call Php from a Java program? I need to invoke a php program when a user clicks on a link on a JSP page I have.

    1) The SDK provides JAXP (Java API for XML Processing) in javax.xml package.
    2) I wouldn't call it 'alternative'.
    3) Your choice. I'd to use a RDBMS. Less overhead, better suited, (much) more functions and better performance.
    4) If that program is available on the web, then just invoke a HTTP request. If not, I'd rather to rewrite it to Java.

  • Platform compatibility question(s) from new user!

    I'm confused.
I picked up Java a few days ago, with the intention of converting a long-standing JavaScript project that I have to run as an applet. I downloaded and installed the Java2 SDK (1.4) and associated runtime environment, and a simple but good IDE (JCreator 2).... and I'm happily developing applets to my heart's content. Cool language, by the way.
HOWEVER, none of my colleagues (on IE5/5.5 on Win2K/Millenium) can view my resulting efforts. Their browsers complain that they can't find the class. Works on mine, on-line, just not theirs. I've sadly made the assumption that it's because I've installed the 1.4 JRE and they haven't.
I REALLY want to use 1.4 to develop if I can. My JavaScript project that I'm converting is heavily dependant upon regular expression operations, and it would be a pity not to have them available - but platform compatibility is a must; this is a commercial project.
I'm missing something here, and I need to ask some really fundemental questions.
    1. I was assuming that most browsers over 4.0 would support "Java2". Just what IS their level of support, by default. I hate new plug-ins, and the Java ones arent trivial!
    2. I had thought that any flavour of Java2 (1.2/3/4) would work on the same virtual machine release, and that new features in 1.4 would simply compile to existing bytecode sequences. Am I wrong?
    3. If I have to develop for maximum compatibility with earlier browsers, can I do this with 1.4 and some compiler switch, or do I have to download older SDKs?
    4. If the worst comes to the worst, is there a class out there that handles regular expression "style" operations that will work on older releases of the language.
Sorry that there's a fair bit there to answer, but since I can't find this info ANYWHERE on the web, I guess I won't be the only newbie facing such issues.
    Peter McKean.

just a few points to add to the other answer :
HOWEVER, none of my colleagues (on IE5/5.5 on
Win2K/Millenium) can view my resulting efforts. Their
browsers complain that they can't find the class.

made the assumption that it's because I've installed
the 1.4 JRE and they haven't.
Yeah the Java support in IE is whack. The m$ JVM never got past java 1.1.4 compatability for various reasons. So unless you want users to install the java 2 pluggins, you have to code applets with the java 1.1 api. You can still do this with a java 2 sdk - you just have to watch the parts of the api you use.
    >>
    2. I had thought that any flavour of Java2 (1.2/3/4)
would work on the same virtual machine release, and
that new features in 1.4 would simply compile to
existing bytecode sequences. Am I wrong?Yeah you are wrong ;) . When do do:
    import java.<package>.<class>
you are telling the compiler where to find the classes you are about to re-use in your code. You are not including them in your final compiled class files. So when the program runs, it looks for the classes in the classpath. If you use classes that don't exist in an older jvm, the program won't run in that jvm. (Same as if a C or C++ program is dynamically linked to dlls (in Win32) or shared objects on unix - they need to be on the system that the program is executed on.)
    hope this helps...

  • Mountain Lion Compatibility question?

    Hi,
I'm considering getting the Mountain Lion OS, more out of curiosity than actually really needing any of the new features to be honest. I assume that there won't be any compatibility issues with Apple apps/software such as Logic Pro 9, and iPhoto, but will there be any compatibility issues with other non-apple software such as audacity, wondershare video converter and such like?
This would be the first time I'd have upgraded an OS with Mac as I've had PC's in the past, and most things tend to work fine with the new windows, or soon after there's an update to make it compabitble. Is this the same with Mac?
