JAWS and Selection Events - JComboBox, JTabbedPane

Hi,
I am adding accessibility to one of our Products for a client that has employed a blind person. I am having trouble with JAWS reading items in JComboBoxes and items in JTabbedPanes.
If I start JAWS then our application which runs in a browser as an applet, JAWS will read the label for the ComboBox when it is focussed, then read the Item name and which element of the total elements it is. eg. "Combo Box closed, Elephant 1 of 20". If I then try and change the selected item in the combo box JAWS will not read any of the selection changes. These results are the same with Java Ferret, it does not read any of the selection changes.
Now the interesting part, if I start my applet and have it loaded and THEN start JAWS or Java Ferret, they will read the menu items as the selection changes. This problem is exactly the same for changing tabs in a JTabbedPane, JAWS will only read the Tab names if it is started after the Applet.
If anyone can help with this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Thumbnail selections, events and selection lists

I'm experimenting with creating an external data file to track Bridge selections. I've come across two problems, one of which I have found a fix for, the other not.
If I obtain 'app.document.selections' following a 'select' event type, the list I get is actually the list prior to the latest selection. So if I had test1.jpg selected and switch to test2.jpg, app.document.selections[0] will be test1.jpg. The same applies to using 'deselect' that actual deselection does not show in the app.document.selections list when the event is triggered.
The fix for this is to use event type 'preview' which returns the latest selections at the moment you change the selection.
Unfortunately, preview does not update when you click when you deselect - and since deselect and select events both seem to come ahead of the updating of the selections list, using them does not work.
Any suggestions / ideas on this.

ugh, hadn't thot that thru yet on the deselect...
Looks like you get "n" deselects in a row.
Run this in ESTK, keep estk's console visible then select/deselect in bridge...

All the deselects (on a multiple deselect) happen in a row, and you're only interested in the last one, and you're not even interested in that. app.document.selections will be correct on the event (regardless of type) after the last deselect.
Hold off doing anything on a deselect until the event type changes.

Since it's possible that you won't get another event for some time, you might want to setup a scheduled task that checks to see if the "gun is loaded", and if so to write the files.

I will get the list of Branches(first DDL) and Zones(Second DDL) from a webservice written in DOT(.)NET, what i needded is touch events and selection events for both the dropdown lists and the data in the second DropDown List should bind based on the First Dropdown list item selected.

Therer are two ways you can assign an action to the "OnEnter"-event of your input field:
1. in method cl_wd_input_field=>new_input_field you have the parameter:
ON_ENTER
You just have to assign your action name to this field and it will be called on the OnEnter-event of your InputField.
e.g:
     lr_input_field = cl_wd_input_field=>new_input_field(
                                             id = 'INP_MY_INPUT_FIELD'
                                             on_enter = 'MYACTION'
2. You can use the method SET_ON_ENTER.
like:
     lr_input_field->set_on_enter( 'MYACTION' ).
Just make sure, you have created and implemented this action and its handler.

AT LINE-SELECTION event and HIDE area

I've got a strange situation: at line-selection event in my program gets fired, but internal table work area doesn't get retained from hide area.
What can be the source of mistake?

What is the diffrence between "Key to Select" and "Selected Key" while creating Radio Buttons?

While creating radio buttons there is a confusion regarding two properties "Key to Select" and "Selected Key".Can anybody explain it with example?

Key to Select: This is the unique key for each radio button to identify which one is selected
Selected Key: This holds the "KEY" of selected radio button
Example:
   Let us say we have 2 radio buttons : Male & Female
     Create a context attribute SELECTED_KEY of type STRING.
     Create an action ON_SELECT for radio button select event
     Now,
     the properties for "MALE" radio button as below
          KEY_TO_SELECT = 'M'
          SELECTED_KEY = "bind to the context attribute SELECTED_KEY
          OnSelect = 'ON_SELECT'.
     The properties for 'Female" radio button as below
          KEY_TO_SELECT = 'F'
          SELECTED_KEY = "bind to the context attribute SELECTED_KEY
          OnSelect = 'ON_SELECT'.
If we select radio button 'Male', we get the key as 'M' and for 'Female' radio button 'F'.
check inside the event handler method ONACTIONON_SELECT, you get the 'KEY' of selected radio button.
So, the context attribute 'SELECTED_KEY' gets filled with the key of selected radio button

Not able to reach start of selection event in the called program

I have a report 1 in which i am calling report2 using below syntax,
SUBMIT Report2 VIA JOB gv_jobname NUMBER gv_jobcount
WITH s_g_yr IN s_g_yr
WITH s_c_rf IN s_c_rf
AND RETURN.
the problem is when report 2 is called it exists after event "at selection screen output" and does not go in the event "start of selection".
Please advise. how can i reach the "start of selection" event where all the processing logic is specified..

Hi,
In your report you have used the event AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT. So, first it will trigger this event and then it will go for START-OF-SELECTION event.
Events will trigger in this following way.
LOAD PROGRAM
INITIALIZATION
AT SELECTION-SCREEN
AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT
START-OF-SELECTION
END-OF-SELECTION
TOP-OF-PAGE
END-OF-PAGE
In above sequence events will trigger in report.

I read and do with sample at the View Controller Programming Guide . But when run it only view TabBar with title but haven't got any TabBarItem on it. Two user exits are needed to determine the correct G/L Account and Cost Center on Shipment Cost documents and post the Material Group on the Accounting document. BADI_SCD_ACCTG and Business Event 1120P can be used to accommodate the new functionality.
Business Process
Specific G/L Accounts and Cost Centers have to be determined to post on the Shipment Cost document. This is needed to provide accurate management reporting capabilities on shipments for Sales Order or Stock Transfer Order. A new custom table must be created which contains the following information: Distribution, Mode of Transport, Account, Cost Center Material group. Distribution is an identifier here if this shipment originated from an SO or STO.
There are no screens involved in this enhancement.

If it exists and field ATWRT contains RFY, the plant is a refinery.
     Product Group can be determined from the Material master through Material group field MARA-MATKL.

[JS/CS4/CS5] Catching a selection event in a ScriptUI interface.

I've got this ScriptUI interface (javascript based), and now I wonder if it would be possible to change one of its button captions depending on whether anything is selected or not, in the active document (would also have to be updated if the user selects or opens another document).
1. Is it possible to write event listeners for this?
2. Would it be possible to include this in the same script as the rest of the Script UI interface code (that is, I'd prefer avoiding a separate file in the startup folder).
3. What's the best source of information regarding events, which ones there are, and how to handle them in javascript?

1. Yes. The selection events work well in my experience.
2. Yes, you don't have to add them at startup. You can do something like:
app.addEventListener("afterSelectionChanged", selectionChangedFunction);
before you open your window. Remove the listener in the onClose event of the window. I think you'll have to have some error trapping in the selectionChangedFunction to deal with app.selection erroring after a document close or during a revert.
3. See this thread for an extension that lets you see events as they're happening.

Why can´t I see contacts and calendar events already registered in my iPhone, in my Mac Pro ? I already actualize LION OSX and selected these items in the adjustments menu of the icloud. I could do it just once, after I installed Lion OSX, but up to the moment it does not updates.

Assuming you activated iCloud, try going to Settings>iCloud and make sure Calendars and Contacts are set to ON.

Finding selected event in iCal

I want to run a script that processes the currently selected iCal event / todo. (sync it with a Filemaker DB).
I cant find a command that returns the selected/current/active iCal object. I can only find an object one with a given property value.
I'm a bit new to this so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I was waiting for someone to post something Apple maight have added in newer versions of iCal, but I guess they didn't add anything.
There is no selection property in iCal, but you can create macro like statements to script applications. So, as a wrokaround in iCal, you could use keystrokes to get the name of the currently selected event.

This would copy the summary of to selected event. You could tab to tab through the information for the event. This might help you pinpoint the event in the case where there are several events with the same summary. Like a macro you would have to test it out in iCal to find the right combination of keystroke and ui scripting.
Note that it is very hard to get recurrence events.

Errors while configuring Life and Work events

Hi,
Am getting the following errors when trying to activate enable to life and work events.
When I try to imoprted objects,
I am able to successfully select and release the processes
1) change 'employement status'
2) 'Divorce' 'Marriage'
3) 'My First Days'
4) 'Terminate employement'.
But I am not able to release the processes 'Benefits' 'Birth/Adoptation'. I released these processes from the folder 'Life and Work events - US'. I am not able to release any processes from 'Life and Work events' folder. I released/trying to release the processes from workset guided procedures --> administration --> Transport --> Manage impoprted Objects
Why am I not able to release the benefits and birth/adoption services?
Issue 2
For the released processes I went to Design time and initiated the processes( my first days etc). Then I went to life and work events for the employee( through ESS). I shows me the smae screen it showd me before I did all these activities. It shows me the initiate process screen with an error message at the bottom saying "Cannot retrieve process template: No active version of the given development object exists".
I went to the backend and saw that the resource 'EMPLOYEE_LIFEWORK_FIRSTDAYS_SERVICE' is assigned the follwoing URL parameters
"process.template.id=CE140F51C11711D9824C000BCD45EE55&process.autostart=true".
Not sure why I am getting the error "Cannot retrieve process template: No active version of the given development object exists".
Appreciate any inputs on the same.

Since I upgraded to Yosemite I can no longer upload photos to eBay by selecting "events" all my photos pop up together. Anyone know how to fix this?

I recently updated to Yosemite 10.10.1. Since I updated I can no longer upload photos to eBay, Shutterfly, Craigslist by selecting "events". It is no longer an option.
All my photos come up as one entire library. When I view them in iPhoto they are divided into events, however once I go to upload them the entire library appears without any defining options, such as "events", recent imports, etc. I thought at first this might be an issue with eBay, but realized it wasn't when I tried to list on Craigslist. This is a nuisance and time consuming process. Does anyone know if there is a fix in the future or if I am just missing some quick fix?

I would like to add that Comcast is my internet provider. Perhaps that is part of the issue although the Connection Doctor confirms the mail box is connecting to the internet. No other function processes when Connection Doctor program is used to find the source of the issue. I have read forum posts but am unable to find a way to get my Apple mail to be delivered to my computer. It worked fine up until I chose to transfer mail to the Cloud. My mail account is a .mac account.
Still hoping someone out there can help me.
