Jaws unable to read Menus and menuitems.
Sorry for posting this query here. But I did not find any satisfactory answer on the Accessibility forum.
I am developing a java desktop application, and I have to implement the accessibility features in it.
For starters, I have implemented the accessibility functionality in the menus and the menu items as follows:

I am using Jaws 5.0 as my screen reader, and i am using jdk1.4.2_04. I have also installed the access bridge and the path have been correctly.
But whenever I use Jaws, it does not read anything, except the keys typed like "Tab", "Alt+F".
Can anyone point out the problem?

yes, i saw that solution but it is not an option for me, i am using messaging for SMS and emails. For SMS it would be ok to have them on phone memory, but for emails i cannot consider it. I have a lot of emails daily and very fast the phone's memory would be full. Actually this happened before, this is te reason i have the messages stored on SD card.
Is there a way to store SMS's on the phone's memory and emails on the SD card?

Try a more recent version of my advice. The "for older video cards version" may work when the default version doesn't.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

Too small to read menus and icons
Using a purchased Photoshop CS3 on a new high resolution Dell XPS 15 computer running Win 8.1. Can not read the tiny menus. I have tried changing resolutions and sizes...to no avail.
You have an old version of Photoshop on a new high resolution display.
Support for scaling the UI by 200% for high resolution displays on Windows was added as a new feature in Photoshop CC 2014. -
Lion server unable to read settings and errors in logs.
Having bought Lion Server from the app store yesterday and followed the simple install ... the web server is working ok in that the home page appears, but cannot get wiki server to work.
Am getting the message "error reading settings" in the right panel of the server app when i select wiki on the left.
When i look at the logs ... there are repeated errors relating to inability to access this file: "/var/pgsql/postgresql.conf":

Any help would be much appreciated...This helps me:
1st step was to initialize postgres with
sudo -u _postgres /usr/bin/pg_ctl initdb -D /var/pgsql
this created all needed files and folder in /var/pgsql
2nd step after receiving an error that the PostgreSQL.log could not be written was to chmod the folder
sudo chown _postgres:_postgres /Library/Logs/PostgreSQL
3rd step was to initial all databases the server
cd /System/Library/ServerSetup/CommonExtras/PostgreSQLExtras
sudo -s
run all scripts found there:
CoreCollaborationPostgreSQLExtras.sh
SetupPodcastWikiPlugin.rb
WebmailServerSetup.sh
create_caldavd_db.sh
create_devicemgr_db.sh

I have a mac osx 10.411 power pc and recently i downloaded excel for mac 2004 so that i could download some program that only would work if i have excel for mac but what happen was it went to script and said that unable to read the dictionary of the application of the extension because it is not scriptable and the second pop up said the document autorun,inf could not open script editor can not open files in script editor app can any one help me how do i get these program working thank you norro460
good afternoon Limnos i think i didnt give the right info I didnt download well in a way i did i bought a copy of microsoft excel for mac 2004 i loaded on to my mac then i went and down loaded some software that said i needed to have excel you see my mac is osx 10.4,11 power pc G4 and that is were i had the problem now the excell loaded allright but the the other programs did not the pop ups say it is not scriptable or can not read dictionary if you can help m,e iam not great with computers but i along

When I start the program I instantly see this message: "Adobe Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache, please try purging the central cache in cache preferences to correct the situation". I have tried this and it only results in a stalled/locked program. I have tried restarting my machine multiple times and tried reconfiguring how the cache is managed. Do you have anyone who could walk me through each step to correct this problem which just started two days ago. I have owned this program for at least a year now...

When I tried to convert a file from PDF to WORD.DOC it opened as Read Only and I'm unable to alter any of the text. How do I solve this problem? I don't know how to change it from Read Only.

Referring to your previous message when you said you'd converted via Acrobat and not Acrobat.com, I'm converting via Acrobat.com because that's the only option that is shown (how do I convert via Acrobat? - perhaps that would be more successful). I'm using the Export PDF website, and the OCR is enabled to "Recognize text in English UK". However, I've just tried converting a different LPA pdf form, this time for Health & Welfare https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/245571/LPA114_He alth_welfare_LPA.pdf and again I have the same problem as before. I've altered it from "Read only" and thought I'd then be able to enter text, but "Drawing Tools" is shown in the pane and I'm unable to enter anything onto the form - everything appears to be in images. Also, the lettering on the heading of' page 1 has become jumbled, with the word "Public" overlaying the word "Guardian." Any suggestions as to what it is I'm doing wrong would be welcome - I don't like to be beaten!

When opening Bridge (CS6) I get the following message: "Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. Please try purging the central cache in Cache Preferences to correct the situation" I tried and after selecting purge cache it does not allow me to select OK. Also Bridge keeps saying "Building Criteria" with the spinning wheel and nothing happens. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. Please help:)

Restoring preferences returns settings to their defaults and can often correct unusual application behavior.
Press and hold the Ctrl key (Windows) or the Option key (Mac OS) while starting Adobe Bridge.
In the Reset Settings dialog box, select one or more of the following options:
Reset Preferences
Returns preferences to their factory defaults. Some labels and ratings may be lost. Adobe Bridge creates a new preferences file when it starts.
Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache
Purging the thumbnail cache can help if Adobe Bridge is not displaying thumbnails properly. Adobe Bridge re-creates the thumbnail cache when it starts.
Reset Standard Workspaces
Returns Adobe predefined workspaces to their factory default configurations.

I have master suite cs6. on mac osx. bridge has been quitting unexpectedly. Also, getting message at start up that states that "bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. Please try purging the central cache in Cache Preferences to correct the situation" I have purged the cache several times and adjusted settings with no change. I also downloaded the entire suite and installed. Do I need to uninstall all of the programs before installing the suite? There is not an option to install only Bridge from the install package.

Our Bridge has been acting very strange. It keeps giving a dialog box of "Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. ... purge central cache" For one, I can't find the central cache and two, I've purged the cache in bridge. Shouldn't that help? There's just all kinds of weird stuff going on. I suppose it does have something to do with the central cache, so maybe someone can tell me where to find it.
When I use the burn/dodge tool sometimes it drags and staggers and takes forever to complete whatever I'm burning/dodging. When I try to delete an image from the dock, it won't disappear but it won't display either.
Any help would be appreciated.The Central Cache is the Bridge Cache.
It's referred as the Central Cache to differentiate it from the individual folder's cache or even the individual image cache. -
I purchased a IMac in Feb later I added a Seagate ext. hard drive. On April 29 I received an errors that the ext. Drive may be a read only and not backing up files. I'm unable to check disk permission or correct errors. Help would be appreciated.
Click on the hard drive on the desktop, then File > Get Info. What does it say about permissions? If this is just a data drive you may want to consider "ignore ownership on this volume".
Otherwise I can only say I have not been reading good things about Seagate drives recently. I have some of their rock-solid ones from about 10 years ago (still running well), but now...? -
NVDA and JAWS won't read doc in Acrobat Pro and Free Reader correctly!
I downloaded the free trial of Adobe Acrobat Pro in order to create 508-compliant, accessible PDFs.
I first created the doc in Word, and, using the Acrobat tab, created a PDF for accessibility purposes, and it prompted me to save it as a PDF. I entered the name and saved, and it automatically opened the PDF version of the doc in Acrobat Pro with the "Make Accessible" tool bar open on the right-hand side.
I went through the reading order and tagged and organized everything to be in the correct order, and then I filled in the Alt Tags for images/figures. Then I had the system perform an accessibility check. It told me the tags would need to be checked manually, as do the colors, and the title was missing. (I had entered the title and source info, etc. into the document's properties, in accordance with an Adobe Acrobat article I'd read on creating accessible docs. I don't know why the title wasn't being noted.)
I tested the doc's accessibility with the Adobe built-in reader, and it worked perfectly- everything was read in the correct order in which I'd tagged it- including the alt tags!
When I tried opening the doc in the free Adobe Reader, however, it wasn't read at all. I then opened my screen readers (one at a time)- JAWS and NVDA- and neither one would read the document, unless I clicked the cursor on a particular part of the text, etc. I need this to read the document- in its entirety- automatically!
Please help!!Finally figured it out -- if I view the form directly in Adobe Reader (over our network), I see the confusing message about "Click 'Sign' to fill out..."
BUT, if I open the form within a web browser (IE, Firefox, etc.), I see the usual message: "Please fill out the following form. You cannot save data typed into this form. Please print..."
It is doing what I expected; I just wasn't viewing it in the usual manner. Users will be seeing this form via a web browser, so problem solved.
