jbo:row action="create" Validation Failure

In our InsertSubmit JSP, we use the <jbo:Row> and <jbo:SetAttribute> data tags to create & populate the row:
<jbo:Row id="myrow" datasource="ds" action="Create">
<jbo:SetAttribute dataitem="*"/>
</jbo:Row>
This works great under normal circumstances but, should an error occur (due to a characters being entered in a numeric field in the InsertForm JSP for example), the SetAttribute statement fails reporting an "invalid type" (or similar) error to the user (as desired).
HOWEVER, the row appears to have been created in the RowSet so that once a valid value has been re-entered into the numeric field and the form re-submitted, a "Too Many Objects Match Primary Key" error is produced from the above statement when the valid form data is (finally) submitted!
Should this row not have been backed out by the framework when the validation failed? If not, how should we test for/remove this row such that the InsertSubmit does not attempt to create a duplicate in the RowSet?
Many thanks...

Thank you for your comment. The action value createonly is new in 9.0.3.
Starting in 9.0.3 (production release) you will be able to create rows in these ways:
create - inserts a new row at the beginning of the RowSet and sets the currency to the new row.
createinrange - inserts a new row at the beginning of the range without changing the currency.
createonly - creates a new row but does not insert it into the RowSet. This is useful when you
need to create row simply to be able to retrieve the default value of each attribute and
you do not not use this row after that.

  • URGENT : jbo:Row Find action bug ???

    Hi,
    I am using JDEV 3.2.3 and the data tags to create JSP Master-detail pages.
    But very often when I am using the find action of the jbo:Row data tag, the corresponding rows in the detail view is not good (no rows or not all rows !!!).
    But if I test my data model with BC4J Tester it is working well !!!
    Is there a BUG with the Find Action of jbo:Row Data tag ???
    If so how can i correct the bug until the next release of the jbo data tags ???
    Thanks

    Jared,
    The rowkeyParam seem to be correct since you where able to retrieve a row.
    Now the problem seem to be when we try to set the current row to this one.
    at oracle.jbo.server.ViewObjectImpl.setCurrentRow(ViewObjectImpl.java:4971)
    It might be something simple like the row in the rowkey is not from the same entity as the rowset you are using to find it (deptDs).
    Another possibility is the rows are not fetch yet or there are no rows yet in the set.
    Try to place a <jbo:RowsetNavigate datasource="deptDS" action="first" /> before your Row tag.

  • Dynamically creating XML using Sap-xMII Colum and Row Action Block

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a xMII-format XML using IlluminatorDocument Action Block.
    My problem statement is during run time I am required to create columns on the fly.which I have done using xMII Colum Action block.but now I am required to assing values to these dynamically created columns.I have tried using Data Item and Row action block but am not sucessful in doing so.Can anyone help in creating this xml Dynamically.
    The steps that I have followed is
    defined
    tagquery action block and defined tagquery
    blank Illuminator Document Action block
    put a repeater on result of tag query
    set a counter
    updated the counter
    used column action block and mapped the column name i.e IlluminatorColumn_0.Name------"test"&Local.count
    my column output looks like
    Rowsets DateCreated="2007-03-27T12:59:39" EndDate="2007-03-27T11:42:40" StartDate="2007-03-27T11:42:40" Version="11.5.0">

    after this action block i want to assign values to each column i.e
         <Row/>
              <Row/>
              <Row/>
              <Row/>
              <Row/>
    i.e erach row tags should be filled with columntag and value
    but i am not able to achieve the same
    Can anyone help me doing this

    After adding IllumColum Action block I have created 5 columns dynamically
    but now I am unable to add row.
    currently for everycolumn created it is giving one row  without any column node
    the configurations that I have done in Data Item Action Block is
    In My Link Editor
    IlluminatorColumn_0.Name----
    >IlluminatorDataItem_0.Name
    hardcoded the value i.e 20----
    >IlluminatorDataItem_0.Value
    IlluminatorDocument_0.Output----

  • \\Column 1 Validation Failure

    Hello, haven't created a dimbuild file in a long time (have been working with HAL in Planning).
    Can somebody give me some information about what \\Column 1 Validation Failure means?
    I am working in 9.3.1 and the dimbuild rule validates, but when I try to load the file the only thing that shows in the error file is \\Column 1 Validation Failure?
    Any help on what it means would be great.
    Thanks in advance.

    Disregard, when I marked the first row as a header row the error went away.

    Hi Bret,
    Sorry it's taken me a bit of time to respond, but please find below a run-down of the WS-I related problems I spotted in your WSDL document. The first few are related to the import error you saw, and there's a few others that I'll also discuss. Apologies in advance if you've already spotted and corrected those.
    I'll use line numbering based on the formatting of the WSDL and XSD that you supplied.
    BP2417 (the one you asked about)
    The line number in the error is a red herring. There are two problems here:
    - WSDL document, line 29: You're using the XSD type string unqualified - it should be xsd:string.
    - WSDL document, lines 8 and 13; schema, lines 3 and 4: The namespaces you're using don't match. Either change the namespaces in the schema to be http://Messages.xsd, or change the namespaces in the WSDL to http://www.bret.org/S3test/Messages.
    BP2202
    You should declare UTF-8 or UTF-16 encoding when creating WSDL or schema documents. The easiest way to do this is to go to Tools|Preferences, and set JDeveloper's default encoding to either UTF-8 or UTF-16.
    BP2032
    WSDL document, line 26 and 43: The name attribute of the fault should read SigFault, not sigFault, as WSDL is case-sensitive.
    WSDL document, line 44: You should use a soap:fault element, not a soap:body element, to bind a fault, thus:
    <soap:fault name="SigFault" use="literal"/>
    BP2012
    WSDL document, lines 17 and 20: Message parts in a document-bound service like this one should reference XSD elements and not complexTypes. What you need to do is define two elements in your messages schema whose types are SigReplyMessage and SigRequestMessage respectively, and then reference those elements from the WSDL.
    WSDL document, line 38: The value of the parts attribute should be Keys to match the name of the part child of the RequestSignature.
    WSDL document, line 41: The value of the parts attribute should be SigAndExp to match the name of the part child of the ReturnSignature.
    WSDL document, line 44: The value of the parts attribute should be faultMessage to match the name of the part child of the SigFault.
    BP2115
    WSDL document, lines 17 and 20: The names of the elements should be sigReplyMessage and sigRequestMessage and not SigReplyMessage and SigRequestMessage, again because WSDL is case-sensitive.
    WSDL document, line 30: The element attribute of the part references xsd:string, which is not an element but a complexType. You'll need to add an element declaration to your schema, which is of type xsd:string.
    I've included corrected versions of your WSDL and schema below, I hope this helps. I also note you've posted a few other messages related to WS-I and WSDL, I hope I've managed to cover those in this message too.
    Regards,
    Alan.

  • 9i; JSP; Find a row using jbo:Row.. ?

    Hi,
    newbie question:
    Simply i want to search a RowSet for a specific value.
    (e.g. Emp_No=8)
    So, how can i define this condition for <jbo:Row...> tag
    here is my code:
    <jbo:DataSource id="dsEmp" appid="app"
    viewobject="EmployeeView" ></jbo:DataSource>
    <jbo:Row id="EmpRow" datasource="dsEmp" rowkey="..."
    action="Find" ></jbo:Row>

    Avrom,
    I copied your suggested code and passed myKey to rowKey
    attribute as follow:
    Note: I only replaced {&#8220;8&#8221;} instead of {new Number(8)}, because
    Number class is abstract and cannot instantiate.
    <%
    Object[] keyValues=new Object[] {"8"} ;
    oracle.jbo.Key myKey=new oracle.jbo.Key(keyValues);
    %>

  • Formula for Find Row action

    Hi,
    Can anyone please advice how to write the formula to for "Find Row" action in the Table tool bar? If there are 1000 entries in the table the user should be able to search for his record. Please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks.
    Aditya.

    Hi Aditya
    I have used the Find Row action successfully before.  In my case I had an input field (Search_Table) and a push button in a form view that triggered the Find Row action.  I set "Apply To" to the table I want to search on and the "Validation Scope" to "Element".  My table had 2 columns - KEY_EXT and TEXT.
    I then used a search formula like the one below:
    CONTAINS ( @KEY_EXT , #ID[ACA4GI]@Search_Table ) OR CONTAINS ( @TEXT , #ID[ACA4GI]@Search_Table )
    I assume you can do the same for a table toolbar button...
    When you trigger the action it will select the first hit (row) but will not automatically scroll to make the row visible which would have been good!
    Hope this helps
    Adam

  • Retain all form field values after input text field validation failure

    Hi,
    I have a form with 1 input text field, one Command button and one h:selectManyListbox. when User enteres some values in input field and clicks on command button named Add, the value is validated. If input is invalid, then an error message appears next to the field. If input is valid, then the value is added into h:selectManyListbox. Adding to list box is done using Ajax4Jsf.
    Probelm:
    Let's assume user entered 3 valid values one after another and all are added into the list box. When he enters a wrong value, and error message appears. however, the entered values in list box goes away. Is there a way to retain the values even after validation failure.
    Code is given below;

    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f"%>

              reRender="inputEmailId1, selectedSharedEmails" />
    </t:panelGroup>
    <t:panelGroup style="text-align: left;">
         <h:selectManyListbox id="selectedSharedEmails" size="8" style="width:100%;" immediate="true">
              <f:selectItems value="#{bean.sharedEmails}" />
         </h:selectManyListbox>
    </t:panelGroup>
    Thanks in advance,

    Use the attribute "binding" instead of a "value". This will remember the value. You can also make sure that you dont have anything in your constructor or class level that initialises that value to "" or null. Because if JSF is remembering your value but your initialization that gets triggered before the page loading resets it to default values then you need to change that part of the code.

  • "ORA-20001: Invalid action CREATE on this object. (U)"

    I have a page where data are inserted in my procedure.
    <br>This procedure assign "PXX_ID" which is a key from that table.
    After that I use "Automatic Row Processing (DML)" with check only on UPDATE", to fill other fields that are not filled in my INSERT procedure. This process is defined with "PXX_ID" which is reassigned (not as it was when page was submitted - before my insert).
    <br>SAVE process, which is only calling this DML is working perfectly. My procedure is inserting new record also. But together they are not working. What I want is to use this process for changing data (SAVE button) and for INSERT part also.
    <br>Now I get this error "ORA-20001: Invalid action CREATE on this object. (U)"...any help on this?
    <br>If problem is that I'm reassigning value of "PXX_ID" then please let me give some hint how to make this if possible using DML processes...
    <br>If the solution is to put all fields in INSERT part and use this DML only for changes, let me know. All I need is some hints to understand more this error!
    <br>P.S.
    <br>I have tried to recreate new process ... but no help.
    <br>P.S. II
    <br>I cannot sent app on WORKSPACE (too much work to do)...but I can send page export.
    <br>THX!

    This is caused because you have only checked the UPDATE option in the Automatic Row Processing(DML). By unselected the other options you are basically saying they aren't allowed. In order to get around this you need to put a conditional clause on the process. I would use something like if rowid = null then use my insert process. If rowid is not null then use the Automatic Row Processing(DML).

  • Getting values from datatable row action

    Hi,
    I have a data table defined to load dynamic values. It works fine. Now I want to add a Row Action and then after clicking it it should be forwarded to the next page which displays other details of the row.
    Now the problem is I dont understand how can i fetch a particular column value in the doRowAction method. I know this is a very basic question but please help!!..

    Not sure where you're talking about with "doRowAction()" but this article might give useful background information and new insights: http://balusc.blogspot.com/2006/06/using-datatables.html

    Hi, I have rechecked this issue. In the bug they say that Big Integer should be changed to Big Decimal to resolve the issue. I checked my application and saw that there is no Big Interger. Please can you guide me further.
