JChecjBox and JTextField Event Handling in JTable

Hi,
I am creating a dynamic Jtable from data in Database. My table has x num of rows and 5 cols. I have 2 editable columns in Table. one is of type checkbox and other is textfield. I have also created a CustomTableModel which extends DefaultTableModel. My Question is How to trap an even on JCheckBox and JTextField when User changes the data in the table. I want trap the event, read the new data and save it to the database.
Please help me with this problem.
I am fairly new at JTable..Please help me. Do i need to create customeCellEditor??

Thank you for your help. From TableChanged event I can find out that table has been updated. But how do i know which rows were updated? I mean How do i know which checkbox was checked/unchecked, or JTextfield text was changed? I need to read them one by one and compare with previous data. TO do that Do i need customCellEditor? Editable Checkbox is in first col of table and Editable Jtextfield is in 4th col. Number of rows vary depending on my resultset from DB.
Please help me.

Multiple movieclips and mutiple event handling.

Hi All,
I have multiple movieclips(images sequence), which I want to add mouseevent (click and drag), keyboard event(left and right arrows) and zoom event(mouse wheel).
I have this function for only one mc(one image sequence).
Now if I use this function, I am having problem with calling the function from the same frame.
That is,
If click another mc from say frame 3, and click on another function, it should continue from frame 3 only, not start from first frame again.

I assume that shows the part where you rotete the house view in a 360degree fashion?
if so, make a global var on your root timeline:

you can access this var from anywehere inside any function of your app by calling:
root.rotationframe
now in the function that handles the rotation (lets say its your keyboard function) in the end (after you moved the playhead) you make sure to always set
root.rotationframe = garage.currentFrame;
and in the function that handles the switching between images you write sth. like
gotoAndStop(root.rotationframe);
Be aware, you can`t simply use that code without adapting it to your special needs.

How to get selection of a DropdownListBox and its event handler

I am trying to get the selection of a DropdownListBox in its event handler. The thing is, that I can´t cast the Component to a DropdownListBox.

In the JtextField whener I pressed the ALT + TAB the focus lost of the

So, you press ALT+TAB in a JTextField and it loses focus.
Do you give focus back to the JTextField before you press Tab again? That
could be one problem. The second is that Tab is a focus traversal key, and
so the focus manager is going to process that key before the component
sees it. You could remove Tab as a focus traversal key, and that would allow
the component to receive it, but I'm not sure you want to do that.

Event Handling in JTable Custom Cell Renderer

I have a JLabel as a custom cell Renderer for a column. I want to handle mouse click event for the JLabel rendered in the cell.
I tried adding the listener for the label in the custom cell renderer but it is not working. Any ideas how to handle this problem??

Event handler eats up memory. Bad programing and/or bug.

I've been programming a GUI for a project. The basics of the program is a sample routine that updates a array once a second. Once the array is updated I use a event handler to plot the new array in a graph.
When I wrote this gui I think I've stumbled upon a bug in Labviews memory allocation.
If you have two loops. One that builds a array and then signals a loop with a eventhandler that reads the array and the event handler is stoped for a few seconds (by opening a sub vi or something inside the event handler), the memory goes berserk. When the event handler is free after the stop the memory is still allocated and does not return.
I could not find any information on this problem in the forum so I thought I would share this information with everyone. I managed to reproduce this phenomena in a small example (attached), if anyone is interested in it. The problem is simple to fix once you recognize the problem. However it was not the simplest problem to find (imho that is ).

Where are you seeing the memory being allocated? What tool are you using, task manager or LabVIEW profiling? I'm not seeing what you describe (LV 7.1.1 on a 3.4 GHz Pentium 4 w/ 1 Gb memory)

I have implemented preprocess and postprocess event handler before with similar kind of plugin registration, metadata import and everything worked fine. Not sure what is the problem here with validation event handler.

Instead of registering the plug-in can u try placing it in the plugins folder under Oracle_IDM1/server folder.
at times restart is required. esp when the server is running in production mode.

Event Handling in Fullscreen Exclusive Mode???????

the graphic rendering thread DOESN'T sleep.
Here's my problem. I have a bad trade off. In fullscreen exclusive mode my animation runs <30 fps and jerks when rendering. i.e. stop and go movement (not flickering/jittering just hesitant motion) when the animation is running. I solved this problem by raising the thread priority of the rendering (7-8). . . this resulted in latency/no activity for my input events both key and mouse. For instance closing the program alt-f4 will arbitrarily fail or be successful when the thread priority is raised above 6.
How does one accomplish a >30 fps and Instant event handling simultaneously in Fullscreen Exclusive Mode?
Is there a way to raise thread priority for event handling?
Ultimately I want to be able to perform my animations and handle key and mouse input events without having a visible 'hiccups' on the screen.

I solved some of the problem after posting this thread. . . .
I inserted a thread.sleep(1) and my alt-f4 operation worked unhindered with the elevated thread priority.
I haven't tested it with mouse event or any other key event but at the moment it looks I may have solved the problem.
If so, my next question will be is there a way to reduce the amount of cpu power needed to run the program.
I'm afraid that the other classes that I'm adding will actually become even more process consuming than the actually rendering thread.

Shared Variable event handling--spurious events

This is more of a nuisance than anything:
Using the DSC module to register for shared variable events, the event structure always fires once for each variable registered for. For example, if I register for the shared variables "Var1" and "Var2", upon entering the event structure [in a loop], I'll immediately see two events [one for Var1 and one for Var2] even if the values for Var1 and Var2 haven't changed.
I originally figured that it's intentional--it appears to be impossible to use SV events without this "feature"--except it doesn't happen in "highlight execution" mode, which I find puzzling.
Why does this exist, and is there some magic way to disable it? Or is it a bug? Anybody who has ever used SV events undoubtedly has some way of dealing with this. Right now I just burn off the first N events, where N is the number of shared variables I'm registered for. But that's extra diagram junk and it really shouldn't be necessary.

Here's a sample project with two SVs and an event handler VI. SV1 has an initial value but SV2 doesn't.The array displayed in the front panel should be empty after running--the SV's are not written to anywhere. I get two entires--one from each event--when I run the VI.
I noticed some new behavior when I put this together. In this example I use the timeout condition to terminate the loop. There is a timeout value around 110ms that defines the cutoff for this behavior--but the value is not consistent. With timeout values ~110 and below, I get no spurious events. But I DO get them for any timeout value of above that. So perhaps this issue is invisible to anybody who is generating events faster than ~10Hz. This may explain why I've been having inconsistent behavior when using the execution trace.

Cant add Rows In a Matrix (Child) and No event catching

Hi,
I created a Master File and its Child. Registered as an UDO. Created an UDO Form with the UDO Form Generator.
I Can Add, find, update, records to de Master File, but The Matrix related to the Child Table Only allows me enter information in the first Row.
I Have tried the addrow command in every place possible, but It doesnt work.

You have matrix on user form. The matrix contains child data. This child data are inserted to matrix manualy or bounded to some datatable, i think with datatable?
When you add new line to matrix, Im using
omatrix.AddRow(1, 0) - 1 is that I want to add 1 row, 0 is position, where the new line will be in matrix
When the matrix is filled with code, Im doing it as
I update usertable
oUserTable.UserFields.Fields.Item("U_Popis").Value = ""
oUserTable.UserFields.Fields.Item("U_PATH").Value = ed.String
then update the form to affect changes to db
oOrderForm.Update()
and then I make new bounding to datatable.

About CL_GUI_ALV_GRID's event-handling & PAI/PBO

Hi, all,
I met a problem when using CL_GUI_ALV_GRID's event-handling.
I created a simple event-handling-class with an event-handling-method for DOUBLE-CLICK event of CL_GUI_ALV_GRID. And the event-handling-method, only makes some changes to the contents of itab to be shown in ALV_GRID.
The problem is: In my idea, after event-dispatch and event-handling in PAI, subsequent PBO will be called. Since SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY is called in PBO, I would saw the changed itab shown. BUT, I saw the contents of the itab remaining unchanged.

Swing: when trying to get the values from a JTable inside an event handler

Hi,
I am trying to write a graphical interface to compute the Gauss Elimination procedure for solving linear systems. The class for computing the output of a linear system already works fine on console mode, but I am fighting a little bit to make it work with Swing.
I put two buttons (plus labels) and a JTextField . The buttons have the following role:
One of them gets the value from the JTextField and it will be used to the system dimension. The other should compute the solution. I also added a JTable so that the user can type the values in the screen.
So whenever the user hits the button Dimensiona the program should retrieve the values from the table cells and pass them to a 2D Array. However, the program throws a NullPointerException when I try to
do it. I have put the code for copying this Matrix inside a method and I call it from the inner class event handler.
