JCO Connection Error Help

Hi!
To give a background, we are using NWDI in this project, and using two boxes, one for local deployment and the other one is the actual development box. We currently changed JCO destinations in our RFC calls, and I have already checked-in and activated the activity for that. I've also deployed the application in the local deployment box.
Now, from what I remember, when activating activities, the changes should also be reflected in the development box (even if deployed in a different local deployment box).
However, I got this error in the development box (but didn't in the local deployment box).
When I tried running a WD app, I got this error:
Failed to Resolve JCO destination <old JCO destination>.. No such destination is defined in SLD.
I know that the JCO reference is missing, but that is because it still looks for the old JCO, which is not supposed to be the case since I've already configured my RFC to use the new JCOs in the WD side.
Does anyone know why teh dev box can't see the changes? Or how do we resolve this?
Thanks!

Angelo:
Login as admin to your dev box WD Content:
http://<host>:<HTTP port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tcwdtools/Explorer
Click on Maintain JCo Destinations and verify you have the correct names for JCo destinations for you apps and also check the connection info. You may click "test" and "ping" to verify the connection is working.
If your JCo destinations are OK, but application is not connecting, restart your Portal. Usually it is not required, though.

Slava

  • JCO connection error:Couldn't create JCOClientConnection for logical System

    Hi All,
We are facing a production outage issue.
We have a Federated Portal Network setup where one of our producer goes down automatically (seems on heavy load).
On this Producer server we have 3 Web Dynpro applications deployed and default trace is full with JCO connection error   saying Could   not create JCOClientConnection for logical System: CSVMR_WD_MODELDATA_DEST.
We had issue with max allowed JCO connections so we changed the below mentioned parameters for JCO connection settings in portal:
u2022     Minimum value of JCo Pool Size in total = 80
u2022     Minimum value for CPIC_MAX_CONV per SAP Web AS = 320
    u2022     Maximum Number JCo Connections = 160
Please let us know if we are missing on some settings, any help in this regard is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Priyanka

    Hi,
As you have already increased the maximum number of connections/pool size but still you are facing this problem. I would suggest you to check the web dynpro application which might not be able to release/disconnect the JCO connection.
Please check this [Thread|How to close a model object connection for Adaptive RFC?; for more details.

  • Jco connection error while calling Custom FM in CRM Internet Sales Application

    Hi ,
I am trying to do some customisation in the CRM ISA 4.0 development component.
Have followed the steps given in the Development and Extension Guide and tutorial PDF
Steps done for Custom RFC Call
    1.       Create RFCs
    2.       Edit file backendobject-config.xml in folder project_root\b2b_z\WEB-INF\xcm\customer\modification:-
    3.       BackendBusinessObject Jco -
    4.       BusinessObject -
    5.       Edit file bom-config.xml in folder project_root\b2b_z\WEB-INF\xcm\customer\modification
    6.       BusinessObjectManager BoM
    7.       BackendAware-
    8.       config.xml - to add custom actions
    9.       Action  creation
    10.     Page : Order_change.jsp.
The backend is the CRM system while making a call to the CRM system the connection to the CRM system is not working .
Similar to what is given in the tutorial the  getDefaultJCoConnection() is used .
But gettting null at the JCO connection.
    JCO.Function func = getDefaultJCoConnection().getJCoFunction(‘CRM_ISA_SHOP_GETLIST’);
This is how my custom FM is being called.
Can someone help me with what may be the possible reason for this call failure.
While debugging and checking it shows null pointer exception in the JCo connection .
    Thanks

    Hi Hamendra,
When the code debugging was done in Java then we got just the NullPointerException for the JCo.

  • JCO Connection error

    Hi,
While giving the parameters for JCO connection in SLD(Technical System Type:- Web As Java) I am taking the destination Type as Application Server.
While creating the JCO connection the JCO connection is getting  created but while testing the connection I am getting the following error
<b>com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (102) JCO_ERROR_COMMUNICATION: JCO.Client not connected in repository call.</b>Do I need to take destination type as Message Server, what are the Name and Message Server for both?
    Please reply.
    Regards,
    Pawan

Hey in SLD the WEBAS-ABAP technical system is created to identify  a SAP system. The common connection properties of the SAP system(like ECC,BW,CRM)are defined under WEBAS-ABAP technical system. For each SAP system one WEBAS-ABAP technical system is created. The changing properties like username password  client number of the backend system i.e SAP system are declared under the JCOs.So when you are connecting to SAP system a WEBAS-ABAP technical system should be created and JCOs should be created/specified for webdynpro applications. The JCOs will make use of the WEBAS-ABAP technical system connection properties internally from the SLD also contains the extra connection properties(client no,uname, pwd). So you have to create JCOs when you are communicating with SAP systems.
Note:No need to create JCOs for other systems(non SAP).

  • JCO connection error explain

    Hi All,
I have a list of JCO which is comes with intallation  of ESS those starting with "SAP_" all of them are green and ping is successfull
Apart form these I created few system defined JCO connection to connect to backend for the systems I defined.
When I ping the JCO connection using SSO as the autherntication it is successful but the Test fails
    giving out this error.
com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (103) RFC_ERROR_LOGON_FAILURE: Name or password is incorrect (repeat logon)
My question is which username and password this is validating to test the connectiion (I gave in SSO as the authentication for creating this JCO) and I do this test by loggin in as the portal admisnitrator
Please explain how it is tested with the backend and what is the username and password used to test the connection since I use SSO as the authentication type and where the username is stored.
    Thanks,
    Charan

    Hey thanks for your reply.
I already login into the portal as the administrator who has all controls on the portal.
    user id : adminsitrator
Do you mean this user id (administrator) needs to be created in the backend and given all rights to create a JCO or to test a JCO.
    Thanks,

  • JCO Connection Problem

    Hi Experts,
This is not related to Java Web Dynpro directly.
We are encountering strange behavior with respect to JCo Destination.
Up to yesterday we had no problems with JCo. But when we tried to run run a Web Dynpro application, it
was not able to extract data from SAP backend.
On further investigation it was found out that JCo Destination test is failing. Following is the error when we
    tried to test JCo Destination:
com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (103) RFC_ERROR_LOGON_FAILURE: Client 100 is not available in this system
Backend is working fine with username and password in the client. Connection from ABAP server to
the the problematic ABAP server is also working (SM59). But connection from any Java portal to ABAP
    server is not working.
    Has anybody encountered this problem?
    Best Regards,
    Pramod

    Hi Promod,
It would be some Username and password issue. If you manage to change them you issue will be resolved. Have a look at the the following useful discussion. It would be helpful for you.
    JCO Connection Error
Also have a look at the following Wiki for troubleshooting the RFC Communication problems with Java Connectors.

  • Finding component that does not close JCO connections

    Hi,
I'm working on a big project with many webdynpro components. My problem is that I seem to be loosing JCO connections. After a while I get JCO connection errors. I just can't find which component is causing this. I checked over and over again.
Is there a way to check how many JCO connections an application/component has or at least how many open connections a model has?
I really need to know which component is causing my loss of JCO connections.
    Thanks all!
    Jeschael

    Hi Jeschael,
Go to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Select Web Dynpro Console -> (Model & backend- You  can check JCo performance by component)  or ( JCo Connection Pools you can check max. calls and active connections for JCos)

    Hi
Please configure your SLD. Your SLD holds the system definition. Define a SAP WebAS abap system and then try to create a Metadata connection using WebDynpro content administrator. Now you will be able to see the msg server defined in the dropdown. Also ensure that you have the message server entry in your services file.
    Refer these links for SLD

    Thanking.
    Rajendra

    Hello Rajendra,
Good to hear from u. Let me try to give a soln for this problem of yours.
I think probably the logon group has not been specified in the backend. If thats the case then do the following:
Connect to the backend server for which you are trying to create the JCO. Run the transaction SMLG. It will show u the existing logon groups. carry out the following steps if the 'PUBLIC' group is not present in the list of logon groups.
Click on the create button. In the pop-up, type the logon as 'PUBLIC'. For the instance, select the F4 help and choose the existing instance number. Click on copy and click save. Try running the transaction /nsmlg and now it should show the logon group 'PUBLIC'.
When you create the JCO connection, it should now show the logon group 'PUBLIC'.
    Regards,
    Prathamesh.
