Jdb problem ?

Hello ,
After a java out of memory error which occurred because my application was trying to read a huge BufferedImage that has a dimension of about 9000X9000 runing on a 512mb jvm.
Now when ever i run the jdb.exe to test the application the jvm crashes with no error or log file explaining why it crashed. but when i run it with java.exe it runs fine. what could be the problem thanks for your response.

Would you not get more response if you asked this question in [Java Database Connectivity (JDBC)|http://forum.java.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=48]?

  • JDB Debugging problem.

    Hi, I am new to JAVA. I tried to debug a small problem which uses DataInputStream. When I receive the value for a variable from the keyboard, JDB is not passing it back to the readLine() function. In turns, it assumes it as a JDB command and gives me error. How can I input the value to the variable? TIA.. - Elan

    import java.io.*;
    class testpgm
    public static void main(String arg[]) throws
    IOException.........................................................
    DO NOT THROW EXCEPTIONS IN MAIN (), CATCH THEM INSTEAD.
    DataInputStream obj = new
    w DataInputStream(System.in);>
    System.out.print("Enter Value for 'A': ");...............................................................
    BufferedReader r = new BufferedReader (new InputStreamReader (System.in));
    a = Integer.parseInt(r.readLine());
    System.out.print("Enter Value for 'B': ");
    b = Integer.parseInt(obj.readLine());
    When I compile with javac -g testpgm and then running
    jdb.exe.....................................................
    COMPILE JAVA PROGRAM USE: javac + your .java file
    RUN JAVA PROGRAM USE: java + .class file
    at jdb prompt, I added a stop condition like this.
    stop at testpgm:16
    run testpgm
    it stops at break point 16 and asking me to input the
    value for the readline command, Enter Value for A:
    when i enter a value as 10,
    the following error comes:
    main[1] unrecognized command. Try help...
    main[1]
    How do I continue my debugging?
    TIA

  • First Time JDB user - Problems already

    I get the error when I try to run my app... (I am in the folder D:/Projects/EdsApp when I start JDB)
    run D:/Projects/EdsApp/EdsApp
    Exception occurred: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException (uncaught)"thread=main", java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(), line=198 bci=72
    Any ideas? When I exit JDB, I get this...
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: D:/Projects/EdsApp/EdsApp
    Exception in thread "main"
    I've even added the folder D:/Projects/EdsApp/ to the CLASSPATH.
    Thanks in advance,

    It's not finding the class you're giving it.
    under the linux version, you give it the classpath then then class name
    like:
    jdb /myclasspath/ myclass.class
    I haven't used it under windows, but it's probably the same.

    After that, I tried setting permissions for the cwallet.sso file to ugo+rwx, but this leads to the same problems as mentioned above.
    My second try was to setup an external WLS 12c, but it seems to be not yet possible to connect to a WLS 12c from within jDeveloper.
    Do you have any ideas ?
    Thank you in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    Robin

    After debugging the WLS Initialisation with jdb, I recognized that there was some trouble with dependent libraries.
    In the end, I solved my problem by using another OS (Ubuntu 11.10) for development. There, the WLS works out of the box, even with 64-Bit libraries.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Problem to debug applet, please help...

    i use windows.
    there are 3 files under "c:\current" directory, they are
    file 1. mem_appletviewer.bat - with content:
    "e:\install\java\jdk1.3.1_05\bin\appletviewer" -J-Xdebug -J-Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_shmem,address=conn001122,server=y,suspend=y test.htm
    file 2. mem_jdb.bat - with content:
    "e:\install\java\jdk1.3.1_05\bin\jdb" -attach conn001122
    file 3. test.htm - with applet tag:
    <applet
    code="Let0.class"
    codebase="G:\Victor\Vc5060\Develop\JCity\files\RecentFile"
    width=400 height=250 ></applet>
    (Let0.class is a simplest class extends Applet)
    please note, codebase is not "c:\current" directory
    problems happend when i debug: (run mem_appletviewer.bat first then mem_jdb.bat)
    a) if move Let0.class to "c:\current" directory, debug is fine but test.htm can not load Let0.class itself because of codebase tag.
    b) if move Let0.class to codebase directory (G:\Victor\Vc5060\Develop\JCity\files\RecentFile), test.htm can load the class but appletviewer can not load the class (can not find Let0.class).
    ===========================================================
    in my application, i need to put Let0.class in codebase directory.
    Question:
    1) how to set -classpath for appletviewer (as debug application class in java.exe )? is it possible?
    2) codebase TAG in test.htm doesn't work for appletviewer, what is problem? how to fix it?
    totally:
    how to debug Let0.class if it is in codebase directory (not in "c:\current")?
    thx

    i fix it.

  • JDB crashes while lodading core dump or throws errors

    I'm having here RHEL 5.1 system and some core dumps generated by our 32 bit java application. This application uses JNI and for some reason (that I'm still trying to figure out) is crashing while executing JNI calls.
    I can load the core dumps inside gdb and even backtrace the native stack of the program and see the variables inside the shared library where it's crashing. But I need to take a closer look on the java stack and some of the variable values on the java side also.
    I did try to use JDB to do this like it's described in the Troubleshooting guide for Java 6 but for some unknown reason when I do try to attach JDB to the core dumps I either get some error thrown on the console or JDB crashes and produces a hs_err_pit*.log file. I have used this technique already few times and didn't had any problems with JDB. I'm wondering if it could be that the core dump files are too big - some of them are around 3 Gb. But one of them is ~600Mb and also is crashing. So is ti possible bug in JDB or I'm missing something. I'm posting the error and the one of the hs_err_pid files.
    Appreciate any help and ideas

    Thank you for your responds!
    I'm not trying at all to transfer the core to a different system. I'm debugging on the same linux red hat box where the cores where produced and I'm using the JDB version from the same JDK that was used to run the app.
    I'm wondering what makes you think that I'm possibly mixing core files?
    Here is the output that JDB generates when I define LIBSAPROC_DEBUG=1. This is the case when JDB crashes:
    $ jdb -connect sun.jvm.hotspot.jdi.SACoreAttachingConnector:javaExecutable=/usr/java/jdk/bin/java,core=core.23850

    From the error code, it looks like you have a scripting error in the BusComp_SetFieldValue event on the Position
    business component in your application.
    Have you tried to look at that code or to turn of scripting for the application as a total?

  • Error thread java : problem with the function "resume 0x***"  (forum sun)

    One problem with the function of jdb occured when I tried to use it to
    pilot the processor with differents threads. In fact, I use a simple example with 2 threads.
    I stop the two threads with two breakpoint, and I want to resume one or the other (with the function "resume 0x****"), the one wich I resumed stop again on the breackpoint and I decide again to resume one or the other. All of that to obtain a tree of execution.
    I give you the code of the class and the code of jdb.
    CLASS: (it's just a object Room with a variable degre that I increment and decrement with two threads increase and decrease)
    public class Test{
         public static void main(String[] args){
              Room r = new Room();
              decrease de = new decrease(r);

    PS: I tried many other examples with other class and other kind of breakpoints, but, in any cases, on thread doesn't manage to resume. When I try with general resume (no specification of the thread), It works but it isn't interresting for me because I want to decide wich thread continue his execution.

    Hi,
    I have read the FAQ of the JMF.
    The problem was the jar files of the JMF were not in the JRE\BIN\EXT
    folder of the Java runtime!
    now it works!
    thanks

  • Problems with setting DriverManager.getConnection as a variable

    HI,
    I was wondering if someone could help me out with a problem i have. I am trying to read in the url, user name and password from an external file, and then add it to con = DriverManager.getConnection(IN HERE);
    I know that i can connect to the database and retrieve information by entering the connection in the following format: ("jdbc:mysql://url:3306/database","userName","password"). But i want to be able to read this line from an external file. When trying to do so i keep getting back the following error in the console window:
    Exception in thread "main" java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver found for "jdbc:mysql://url:3306/database","userName","password"
    at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:602)
    at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:207)
    at fast.JDBC.openDB(JDBC.java:68)
    at fast.JDBC.main(JDBC.java:40)
    Any help with this would be appreciated!
    I am using the following code:
    public class JDBC { private Connection con; public static String filePath = "C:\\Users\\Documents\\Connector.txt"; public static String sql = ("SELECT * FROM users"); public String readFileAsString(String filePath) throws IOException { //Read connector from a file byte[] connectionDB = new byte[(int) new File(filePath).length()]; BufferedInputStream f = new BufferedInputStream(new FileInputStream(filePath)); f.read(connectionDB); return new String (connectionDB); }//Close readFileAsString public static void main (String[] Args) throws Exception { JDBC j = new JDBC(); j.openDB(); j.readDB(sql); //System.out.println(j.readFileAsString(filePath)); } /** * Process for creating a connection to a database * @return * @throws Exception */ public boolean openDB() throws Exception { boolean connected = false; JDBC j = new JDBC(); String connectionDB = j.readFileAsString(filePath); System.out.println(connectionDB); //Load Drive Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"); //Establish connection to database try { con = DriverManager.getConnection(connectionDB); } finally { connected = true; } return connected; }//close openDB

    This is what I did for my OracleDb which required that I download a driver from the Oracle Site. You install the driver and then link the driver through the DriverManager object. It looks like your using a local JDB database - which I have never had to make use of. Here is my code for the OraceXE database. Hope this helps.

  • Failure when connecting MS SQL SERVER from ODI ! could not load JDBS driver

    i have some trouble with connecting MS SQL SERVER from ODI.
    I have already downland jdbs driver 3.0 (and 2.0 ) and copy the sqljdbc4.jar to D:\oracle\product\11.1.1\Oracle_ODI_1\oracledi\agent\drivers( where the oracle jdbs driver is already exitst )....but i have this error :
    could not load JDBS driver class..
    thanks

    After more investigation and even more chocolate, we've identified the problem and it's now working. For anyone else who strikes this problem in future, here's something to check/consider/try:
    Even though Squirrel SQL Client was connecting and working ok using the MS JDBC driver (v 3.0), it recorded this in its logs:
    Cannot resolve the collation conflict between "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS" and "Latin1_General_CI_AS" in the INTERSECT operation.
    We've found that the open source jTDS driver does not have the same issue as the Microsoft one.
    We've installed the current jTDS driver, recorded the driver name (net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver) and the JDBC URL (jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://<hostname>:1433/<database>) and the connection is now working fine.
    Hope this helps other people...
    Thanks to those of you who offered suggestions and things to check...much appreciated.

  • First time, using jdb :(

    Hi,
    I have little problem uderstanding the messages of the jdb.
    I compiled my class with the "-g" option and than I set with jdb a Breakepoint.
    If I run now in jdb my program I get this message:
    run Prog
    >
    VM Started:
    Exception occurred: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException (uncaught) thread="main", java.net.URLClassLoader$1.r
    un(), line=-1, bci=72
    main[1] next
    main[1]
    Exception occurred: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException (uncaught) thread="main", java.net.URLClassLoader.fin
    dClass(), line=-1, bci=28
    main[1] next
    main[1] Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Prog
    The application exited
    But I have a catch-block in the main!?
    Or what is wrong?

    The exception you reported is signalled by the JVM, which seems to be unable to run your program's main class.
    I usually debug my programs by executing the command "jdb <main class>" (I don't know whether this could make the difference or not, though).
    Do you run jdb in the directory holding the main class?
    And if so, does the compiled class file really exist?
    Bye

  • How to use jdb for debugging a servlet?

    I'm using Apache/JServ with jdk 1.4 (via Textpad on win2K SP 3).
    The 'gospel' I'm trying to follow is:
    'Start the server manually and record the password for remote debugging
    (this is displayed on the console).'
    'Start the Java debugger:'
    'jdb -host your_host -password the_password'
    'You should be able to debug your Java classes now using the jdb
    command.'
    My problem is that I can't find the password from Apache.
    I normally start/restart apache as a windows Service.
    If I start it from DOS I get:
    'C:\orant9i\Apache\Apache>apache -k start'
    'Oracle HTTP Server Powered by Apache/1.3.12 (Win32) ApacheJServ/1.1
    mod_ssl/2.6.4 OpenSSL/0.9.5a mod_perl/1.24 running...'
    I've searched the log, conf & property files but can't find any password.
    I've also searched the Apache website for 'jdb' without luck.
    I've printed out (and read!) the 'Using Apache with MS Windows' manual.
    I did a Google:
    --Someone suggested starting Apache using using the -X flag, but I don't
    seem to have this option.
    --Someone else suggested changing jvm12.conf, but I don't have one.
    I have tried the following, just-in-case I don't really need a password,
    but it doesn't tell me a lot, and I would appreciate some help:
    JDB -sourcepath E:\javaPackages org.apache.jserv.JServServletManager
    C:\orant9i\Apache\Apache>JDB org.apache.jserv.JServServletManager
    Initializing jdb ...
    > run
    run org.apache.jserv.JServServletManager
    Set uncaught java.lang.Throwable
    Set deferred uncaught java.lang.Throwable
    >
    VM Started:
    Exception occurred: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException (uncaught)"thread=main", java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(), line=199 bci=72
    main[1] list
    Source file not found: URLClassLoader.java
    main[1]
    Thanks,
    Peter.

    Hello
    You wrote:
    I added the following to jserv.properties:
    wrapper.bin.parameters=-Xdebug
    wrapper.bin.parameters=-Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=2930,suspend=n,server=y
    and it ran the servlet okay.Fine so far. This means your debugee VM is started and running. The "suspend=n" means it
    will start running without waiting for a debugger to attach... so you can attach later whenever you
    decide to debug. Note that 'later' could be weeks later, or possibly never.
    Now: Time to attach jdb to the victim/debugee process you started above.

    But I get the following when I try to start jdb:
    jdb -connect com.sun.jdi.SocketAttach:hostname=localhost,port=2930 org.apache.jserv.JServServletManager

    Cannot specify command line with connector:
    com.sun.jdi.SocketAttach:hostname=localhost,port=2930,
    and
    jdb -attach localhost:2930 org.apache.jserv.JServServletManager
    gives:
    Cannot specify command line with connector: com.sun.jdi.SharedMemoryAttach:name=localhost:2930,The problem here is that you are trying to supply too much information to jdb.
    When you are using the attach connectors, all you need to supply is the
    host name and socket (for the socket connectors), or the name of the shared memory
    area (for the shared memory connector). The connectors you tried above are throwing
    an error because you are trying to supply something extra (the class name).
    When doing an attach, the debugee VM is already launched. The debugger will
    attach to it and inspect the classes loaded.
    If you are still running with the wrapper.bin.parameters you listed above,
    then all you need to connect with jdb is:
      jdb -connect com.sun.jdi.SocketAttach:hostname=localhost,port=2930 You should get a jdb prompt, and you will be able to inspect the debugee
    VM by entering commands such as threads and classes. Typically
    the next thing would be to set some breakpoints (stop in package.class.method,
    or stop at package.class:line. Then restart the debugee with a resume.

  • Facing problem for inserting the  RFC return response in JDBC

    Hi
    Can any one  share views for resulting my problem,
    This is my scenrio(JDBC>RFC>JDBC) logic follows like this:
    Design:
    1. MT--X(request from JDBC(A))
    2. MT--Y(Response to JDBC(A))
    3. Defined Outbound Sync MI(Z) and given request as 'X' and response as 'Y'
    4. Imported BAPI--B
    5. Done MM between X and B-->request mapping(Zmap1)
    6. Done MM between B.Response and Y--->response mapping(Zmap2)
    7. Defined the IM between Z and B
        a. Zmap1 given as request
        3. Zmap2 given as response
    And according to that i have confgured CCs,SA,RA,RD,ID.
    It seems to be working fine..request map posting data properly in BAPI and also getting response as payload only, but it is not updating in JDBC column, which i mapped as response!it seems to be everry thing is ok..but i dint understand why it is not updating the return response in JDBC side?
    Note: Here i'm not using BPM, without BPM i made synchronous.
    In SxMB_MONI ..i'm getting response as E or S based on rfc return structure.

    Hi,
    I think there is a mistake in your messaage type to insert into JDBC. The format should be,
    <MT>
      <statement>
         <test action="insert">
              <table> </table>
         </test>
         <access>
              <row1>  </row1>
              <row2>  </row2>
         </access>
      </statement>
    </MT>
    Your action is an attribute of <test>.
    Likewise in your case, you Message should be something like,
    <root>
         <statement>
              <Invoice action="insert">
              <table> nameoftable <table>
              <access>
                   <f1> </f1>
                   <f2>     </f2>
              </access>
         </statement>
    </root>
    Check out these links on the various options avaiable for the JDBC adapetr and how the action attribute can be used,
