  • Location JDBC jar file while building Jetspeed2

    Hi,
At the moment I'm trying to get Jetspeed2 installed. Reading the manuals it seems soooo easy. I installed Jetspeed using the default installation method, and wanted to change the database from derby to MySQL.
To change the database from derby to MySQL I need to start an Ant script. As a result of running this script, I got the following error:
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: -> Unable to start DBCPCDatasourceComponent: -> java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
(tabs and -> added for readability)
There is a mysql-connector-java-5.1.6-bin.jar in Tomcat's shared/lib directory. This jar file is also part of my systems classpath.
Does anyone have a suggestion in which way I can look?
    Abel

  • Running Jar Files created in Sun Java Studio

    Hi everyone,
I am still trying to explore the functionalities (especially as regards deployment issues) of this robust IDE. However I do have a problem. I have developed a very basic program that connects to a database (MSSQL) using Java Studio 8. However after building the jar file, if I try to execute the jar file it gives me this message
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver.....
But all goes well within the IDE and it runs well if I use my notepad or vi editor, compile it from the command line and execute the generated class file. The classpath have been set for all the necessary jdbc jar files.
    Any Help Will Be Appreciated

    1. Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8 is based on NetBeans 4.1 which does not provide direct support for packing an application. One alternative you may want to consider is to use NetBeans 5.0 (http://www.netbeans.info/downloads/download.php?type=5.0) or JSE 8.1 which is based on NB5.0 and which is now in beta (http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jsenterprise/downloads/index.jsp).
You may want to refer to http://www.netbeans.org/kb/articles/javase-deploy.html for packing and deploying a standalone application is NB5.0 or JSE8.1.
    2. Using JSE8, you may want to try copying all the library jars (including database drivers) used by your application to your projects dist directory manually and then package them all into one jar.
    3. You should not have to know the exact location of the jdbc jar on the client machine. How are you instantiating the driver in your code? Are you using 'Class.forName()'? If so, java should be able to pick up the driver from the classpath. (Pl. ref to http://forum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?forumID=122&threadID=62696, which may be of help).

  • Accessing a Jar file within my jar...

    Hi,
I've got a JDBC Jar file that I wish to include in my Jar package, but I'm unsure how to do this...
I'm using ant to compile my code & package it up into the Jar, & I can get it to compile fine, and package everything up fine (including the JDBC jar), but when I go to run the app I get an error
    (No suitable driver).
My app works fine without being Jar'ed up.
I'm guessing that I need to set the classpath to reference the JDBC jar file in my jar... but I'm unsure how to do this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

package what you thirdpart jar file and your jar file to one jar file..
    it will run ok.
maybe the below tool can help you.
a tool named JavaJar(written by java) can compress and decompress jar, war, ear and.zip...
    may download from http://www.qwerks.com/download/4114/JavaJar.zip
the tool is very verygood tool.
but the homepage(www.pivotonic.com) of JavaJar cannot be accessed.
    it is funny.
    good lucky.

  • Classpath inside a JAR file...

    Hi there,
I have recently learned that I cannot use my JDBC driver JAR file from within another JAR file. So now I have two JAR files........my application and associated files in one and the JDBC driver in the other.
    This gives me......
    gatekeeper.jar
    ojdbc14.jar
My problem is, when running the application I get an exception stating that it cannot load the Oracle driver. I'm assuming that this is because it cannot find the JDBC JAR file from within the manifest Class-Path.
    My manifest is this: -
    Main-Class: GateKeeper
    Class-Path: ojdbc14.jar commonfiles images
This includes my commonfiles package (all classes) and my images directory. All these things are included. I'm trying to run the gatekeeper JAR file from the same directory as the JDBC driver JAR file.
    I've tried: -
    Class-Path: ojdbc14.jar commonfiles images
    Class-Path: .\ojdbc14.jar commonfiles images
    Class-Path: ..\ojdbc14.jar commonfiles images
None of these things help. Obviously I could just specify the JDBC JAR file when running the application using: -
    java -cp ojdbc14.jar -jar gatekeeper.jar
....but I want to have the user just run it without having to know about the classpath.....i.e.
    java -jar gatekeeper.jar
DrClap said (and I quote) "In the same directory as your main JAR file is easiest, but at any rate the Class-Path entry in your manifest should include the relative path of the driver jar."
...Isn't the relative path to the JAR file outside the JAR this?
    .\ojdbc14.jar
Basically, to recap....from within my JAR application file I want to add to the classpath in the manifest file the JAR file that is outside the application JAR file in the same directory. Helpy?
...I'd offer dukes to you fine folks, but I've only got two left. Since I'm such a newbie, I'm not likely to get any more inthe near future, so I'm saving them for a raining day. :) I hope I can get a little charity without resorting to duke bribary. :)

Hmmm...still not joy. This is the exception I'm getting with the stacktrace.

Oracle JDBC jar files are provided by Oracle (and tested by Oracle).

  • CLASSPATH and JDBC Drivers in a Jar File

Hi all, I am creating an application in JDev that uses JDBC to connect to a 10g database. I am deploying my application to a jar and running it on the database server using the jdk installed with the database. $ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin I want to also use the jdbc driver installed in $ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib instead of including the driver in my application jar file. How can I cause my jar file to find the jdbc lib?
Can I register it directly with the DriverMannager using the file? My app knows the $ORACLE_HOME.
Or do I just include the jdbc driver in my jar?
    John

I was hoping it would be that easy. But I am still having problems. Here is my setup.
    export MON_JAVA="$ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin/java -classpath /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/jdbc/lib/ojdbc14.jar"
    $MON_JAVA -jar PMonitor.jar -c trace
and I get this error when connecting to the database.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/jdbc/OracleDriver
I also tried the classes.jar with the same results.

  • JAR files for SQLJ and JDBC drivers: what is the best practice?

starting a migration from IAS 10 to WebLogic 11g.
Apparently the jar files for SQLJ are not on the classpath by default.
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: sqlj/runtime/ref/DefaultContextwhich is the better practice: putting the SQLJ runtime jar into the lib subdirectory of the domain directory, or using a shared library reference? (usage of SQLJ is pretty prevalent in our apps, though we may be getting away from it)
are the Oracle JDBC drivers on the classpath by default?
if not, then the same question: put them into the lib subdirectory of the domain directory, or use a shared library reference?

I'm looking at the setDomainEnv, especially the big note at the top:
    >
    # WARNING: This file is created by the Configuration Wizard.
    # Any changes to this script may be lost when adding extensions to this configuration.
    >
and am getting squeamish about editing it...
http://www.bea-weblogic.com/how-do-i-disable-wls-automatically-adding-to-classpath.html looks like the default behaviour is for WebLogic to put $DOMAIN/lib;$WL_HOME/common/lib/ext;$WL_HOME/server/lib/ext on the classpath; there is also a reference to setting weblogic.ext.dirs= when starting weblogic (which means I set the WEBLOGIC_EXTENSION_DIRS environment variable).
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/programming/libraries.html#wp1067450 also refers at the bottom to using the domain /lib subdirectory.
so am I correct that a good practice is to just put the jars I think I will globally need into $DOMAIN/lib, rather than putting them in $WL_HOME/common/lib/ext, $WL_HOME/server/lib/ext, or fiddling with the WEBLOGIC_EXTENSION_DIRS environment variable?

  • Application in JAR file cant find JDBC classes

    Hi,
When I run an application from the JAR file the ClassNotFound exception is throw! When I run from the application classes in the directory the program works. The JDBC classes are in the CLASSPATH, the manifest of JAR file is:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: xxxxx
    Main-Class: com.xxx.jhdesk.JHelpDesk
    Class-Path: classes111.jar JdbcDomino.jar
I tried to put "class-path" parameter in the manifest but the problem continues.
I need to send only my jar file, and the JDBC classes would be anywhere at the client machine.
    Any hint will be appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!
    Daniel Carvalho

Those two jar files in the Class-Path entry in the manifest file, are they in the same directory as the jar file? (What you put there is supposed to be relative to the jar file, and you have no directory information.) And is there a line-ending character at the end of that line?
