JDBC over TCPIP

Doing JDBC over TCPIP from ICC's DPA system IX1 to any external systems is blocked by the SAP firewall.
Due to SAP's internal security code, this type of traffic can't be allowed.

About JDBC-OCI, in java source code it will call oci function
for db access via ocijdbc dll(jni), so you must sure that your
jdbc driver is the same version as your oci dll.
For example, if you use jdbc-driver for oracle 8.0.5, but you
use oci client not 8.0.5, you will get this Exception
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: make_c_state
You can try to update your jdbc driver for your client. You also
pay attention to place the oracle jdbc driver to the first
position in you classpath. Because you may use other jar which
may also includ old oracle jdbc driver. For example, weblogic.jar

  • Any reported problems using jdbc over a WAN?

    If im trying to connect to a Database that's on a WAN will I experience any issues in using jdbc to connect and execute queries to that database?
    I know problems would come up if my wan network is slow, but has jdbc been able to handle long distance database queries? timeout values?

    but why?
    is it because of security? If a company had a database with your personal info hanging out on the Web for anyone to query without any validation or security, how would you feel about it?
    design pattern issues? It's just good layered design.
    just doesnt make sense?Not in my opinion.
    have u experienced/heard of any problems of
    connecting to a database over a WAN and executing
    queries?You don't say anything about who the client is. If the database is behind a firewall, outside clients shouldn't be able to access the port where the listener is running. Only port 80 should be open on that firewall.
    So you either write a servlet that listens on port 80 for HTTP requests from a browser-based client OR you ask your firewall admin to punch a hole in the firewall and open up the port on which your database is listening for queries and use a Swing client.
    If s/he agrees to do it, quit immediately. It means your company doesn't know anything about security.

  • JDBC over HTTP

    Hi,
    I am wondering if there is some software that allow to communicate to a database over http.
    For example, an applet needs to do some queries to a database but the only access point is the web server host and port.
    Can we do that in a simple way or do we need to use some web services or object serialization between client and server ?
    Thanks !

    The application is only for management. I do not want
    to directly contact the database server threw jdbc
    but just for example :
    Client Applet -> servlet -> JDBC -> DBThis arrangement does not require HTTP to contact the database. JDBC is taking care of it. It's HTTP between the applet and servlet.
    >
    As you say there could be a problem with sensitive
    information but there are at least txo
    authentification : webserver side and database sideWebserver is for each user and can be role based. Database side should be an application credential that says the servlet can access the data. No need to spell each individual out to the database.

  • How to implement the JDBC call over SSL on Oracle?

    I searched the forums and google. It seems to support Oracle 9i JDBC call, Thin driver can not work and we should use OCI.
    I referenced OTN Oracle java example about the SSL, it talked about the security socket but not anythingabout JDBC. http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/network.920/a96573/asoappf.htm#634403
    Who can provide a clear description and resource URL to tell how to make a simple implementation on JDBC over SSL.
    Thanks a lot.

    That article you referenced is referring to the JVM that runs when one runs java stored procedures. It has nothing to do with JDBC.
    You have a unusual requirement (probabaly originated as the same place as your alias.)
    Most of the time SSL is not needed for the database because the database and the applications that talk to it are already on a secured network.
    You can investigate some third party drivers, I believe I recall seeing that one of them does SSL.
    Alternatively you might look into a secure VPN connection. The connection travels over IP and tunnels other traffic through it. Given that the tunned itself is secure, the contents are as well.

  • Unable to access local resources or RDP over VPN Connection

    Dear Tech People.
    I have a Windows 7 computer that I have created a VPN service through Windows on.  I am able to connect to the VPN from outside of my network with my Macbook Air.  However, I am unable to connect to the computer via RDP, nor can I ping my PC that
    I am VPN'd into (192.168.1.252).  When I am connected, the IP address that I am assigned, is 192.168.1.150.  When I run ipconfig /all, I can see the "RAS < Dial In> Interface for VPN, and it is setup with an ip address of 192.168.1.151
    with a /32 subnet mask.  There is no default gateway listed, which is why I believe that this is not working.  I cannot determine any way to make this change.
    Basically, I have a VPN connection that I can do nothing with.  I cannot access shared resources, nor can I start a remote desktop session.  The pass through is setup for PPTP with my router, which I believe is working, as I couldn't even connect
    prior to this.  Below is the full results of my ipconfig /all command on my Windows PC:

    Hi MS DEF,
    A second network adapter is required to provide peer-to-peer communication between cluster hosts. Please isolate your heartbeat network. With unicast when cluster is connected
    to a switch, incoming packets are sent to all the ports on the switch, which can cause switch flooding, please confirm you have setup your switch correct, you can refer the following Cisco Switch related unicast configuration.

  • Performance problem: 1.000 queries over a 1.000.000 rows table

    Hi everybody!
    I have a difficult performance problem: I use JDBC over an ORACLE database. I need to build a map using data from a table with around 1.000.000 rows. My query is very simple (see the code) and takes an average of 900 milliseconds, but I must perform around 1.000 queries with different parameters. The final result is that user must wait several minutes (plus the time needed to draw the map and send it to the client)
    The code, very simplified, is the following:
    String sSQLCreateView =
    "CREATE VIEW " + sViewName + " AS " +
    "SELECT RIGHT_ASCENSION, DECLINATION " +
    "FROM T_EXO_TARGETS " +
    "WHERE (RIGHT_ASCENSION BETWEEN " + dRaMin + " AND " + dRaMax + ") " +
    "AND (DECLINATION BETWEEN " + dDecMin + " AND " + dDecMax + ")";
    String sSQLSentence =
    "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM " + sViewName +
    " WHERE (RIGHT_ASCENSION BETWEEN ? AND ?) " +
    "AND (DECLINATION BETWEEN ? AND ?)";
    PreparedStatement pstmt = in_oDbConnection.prepareStatement(sSQLSentence);
    for (int i = 0; i < 1000; i++)
    pstmt.setDouble(1, a);
    pstmt.setDouble(2, b);
    pstmt.setDouble(3, c);
    pstmt.setDouble(4, d);
    ResultSet rset = pstmt.executeQuery();
    X = rset.getInt(1);
    I have yet created index with RIGHT_ASCENSION and DECLINATION fields (trying different combinations).
    I have tried yet multi-threads, with very bad results
    Has anybody a suggestion ?
    Thank you very much!

    How many total rows are there likely to be in the View you create?
    Perhaps just do a select instead of a view, and loop thru the resultset totalling the ranges in java instead of trying to have 1000 queries do the job. Something like:
    int     iMaxRanges = 1000;
    int     iCount[] = new int[iMaxRanges];
    class Range implements Comparable
         float fAMIN;
         float fAMAX;
         float fDMIN;
         float fDMAX;
         float fDelta;
         public Range(float fASC_MIN, float fASC_MAX, float fDEC_MIN, float fDEC_MAX)
              fAMIN = fASC_MIN;
              fAMAX = fASC_MAX;
              fDMIN = fDEC_MIN;
              fDMAX = fDEC_MAX;
         public int compareTo(Object range)
              Range     comp = (Range)range;
              if (fAMIN < comp.fAMIN)
                   return -1;
              if (fAMAX > comp.fAMAX)
                   return 1;
              if (fDMIN < comp.fDMIN)
                   return -1;
              if (fDMAX > comp.fDMAX)
                   return 1;
              return 0;
    List     listRanges = new ArrayList(iMaxRanges);
    listRanges.add(new Range(1.05, 1.10, 120.5, 121.5));
    //...etc.
    String sSQL =
    "SELECT RIGHT_ASCENSION, DECLINATION FROM T_EXO_TARGETS " +
    "WHERE (RIGHT_ASCENSION BETWEEN " + dRaMin + " AND " + dRaMax + ") " +
    "AND (DECLINATION BETWEEN " + dDecMin + " AND " + dDecMax + ")";
    Statement stmt = in_oDbConnection.createStatement();
    ResultSet rset = stmt.executeQuery(sSQL);
    while (rset.next())
         float fASC = rset.getFloat("RIGHT_ASCENSION");
         flaot fDEC = rset.getFloat("DECLINATION");
         int iRange = Collections.binarySearch(listRanges, new Range(fASC, fASC, fDEC, fDEC));
         if (iRange >= 0)
              ++iCount[iRange];

  • WRT54G. Computer sees network but can't connect over wireless

    So I have a WRT54G router since a couple of years now.  Laptop (Win7 64bit), ipod, ipad, phones can connect to it without a problem, but new computer (Win7 64bit) can't.  I can connect the PC via ethernet without a problem though.
    I powercycled my devices, I changed broadcasting options off and then back on, changed my security mode, tried the MAC Cloning (after doing the MAC Cloning, I lost internet connectivity even through ethernet), resetted my security settings, changed SSID, I'm broadcasting through channel 11 2.462.  I also tried deleting the HomeGroup
    Important fact: the network is in the list of available wireless network, but Signal Strength is No Signal and I can't connect to it.
    My network adapter is ASUS 802.11n Wireless LAN Card, drivers are up to date.
    I've upgraded to the latest router firmware.
    I use a cable ISP.
    I've been looking at everyone else's posts with similar problem but none of the suggestions fixed my problem.  Anyone has an idea?  I'm no techie so I may be missing something important/obvious...   Thanks a lot for replies (please don't hijack!)

    As the concern is with your wireless connection and you have updated the firmware of the Router so once reset and reconfigure the Router... Since you are using Cable Connection refer the link for the configuration: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=93&vw=1&articleid=3686
    As far as the wireless is concern make the channel to 6, 9 and 11...
    Under Advanced Wireless Settings change Beacon Interval to 75, Fragmentation Threshold to 2306, RTS Threshold to 2307...

  • Windows 8.1 prefers IPv4 over IPv6

    Hi,
    I face a strange issue regarding IPv6 networking on Windows 8.1 Pro. My local network runs a router with router advertising daemon to announce fc00::/7 unique local address as well as global adresses. It also runs DHCPv6 to assign static unique local address.
    So all my machines in local LAN get multiple local IPv6 addresses:
    IPv6 DHCP lease in fc00::/7 network
    Auto-assigned IPv6 fc00::/7 address
    Temporary IPv6 fec00::/7 address
    Link-local IPv6 address in range fe80::64 network
    Temporary global unicast IPv6 2000::/3 address
    Link-local IPv6 fe80::/10 address
    DHCP-assigned 10.0.0.0/8 IPv4 address
    DNS servers: fc00::/7 IPv6 and 10.0.0.0/8 (same server with DNS listening on both interfaces)
    Gateway: Link-local IPv6 fe80::/10 address of router, 10.0.0.0/8 server (same host as IPv6 gateway)
    So far almost everything seems to work well:
    Can ping and connect to IPv6-enabled web-hosts
    ping www.google.com pings IPv6 interface on Google server
    However Windows 8.1 decides to connect on IPv4 only local servers. E.g. the local web-service. Issuing "ping local-server" pings IPv4 only as well as Internet Explorer or Firefox only connect on IPv4 to the web service. It's not a DNS issue as
    DNS resolves properly to link-local IPv6 address:
    nslookup local-server
    Server:  UnKnown
    Address:  fdea:....:....:....::6
    Name:    local-server.example.local
    Addresses:  fdea:....:....:....::6
              10.0.1.6
    Also using the IP address within the browser like http://[fdea:....:....:....::6]/ works just fine.
    Even more strange the same setup on Windows 7 Professional connects just fine to the same host on IPv6.
    I thought this might be an issue with prefix policies (see 'netsh interface ipv6 show prefixpolicies') which were changed from Windows 7 to Windows 8(.1). But I messed with the rules at no avail.
    Any explanation or hint what I am doing wrong or what has changed in Windows 8(.1) which makes Windows 8 prefer IPv4 over unique local fec0::/7 addresses?

    you can run ipconfig /all, and paste the result here
    Of course I can. See below. Note: I have removed static IPv6 site-local addresses (except the prefix).

  • Accessing File Shares Over NAT

    Hello,
    I am working with a client that set up a new sub net that uses hide NAT. When I try to access a file share on a server in a different sub net, I can only browse for a few seconds and then an error such as "Server service not started" or "network
    name no longer available" appears, and I can't browse folders on that server anymore (it has Server 2003 SP2). Netmon found that the connection was constantly being reset. If I reconfigure the same client (XP SP3) with it's original unNATed IP address,
    everything works fine, and the Windows firewall is disabled on both the server and client. Is there a trick to get CIFS or SMB or whatever to work over hide NAT?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    SMB uses a single session for a pair of IPs and all file transfer between these 2 IPs are made over this session. This makes the file transfer more efficient over the network. On the flip side, since only one SMB session is maintained, clients coming through
    NAT will have problems since all these clients are presented as a single IP to the server. With SMB, only a single session will be maintained and thus there is nothing unique for each client. This breaks the communication.
    We will need to use NetBIOS over TCPIP in place of SMB. This can be achieved by:
    1. Disabling SMB on the server or on all the client machines by setting the registry:
    Name: SMBDeviceEnabled
    Type: REG_DWORD
    Value: 0
    The location of the registry key is:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBT\Parameters. You may have to create this if not already existing.
    2. Block TCP port 445 for the segment accessing shares through NAT

  • Second DC doesn`t take over the control, outlooks started to ask password.

    Hi All,
    -I had Windows 2012 Server as DC.
    -I have installed 2012 R2 as second DC
    -I`ve AD integrated DNS
    -Both DCs are DNS
    -When I click "Operations masters" I see only PDC in both section.
    The problem is that when I turned off the PDC yesterday, the new one didn`t take over. The Outlooks were giving authentication errors.
    When I click change DC to transfer roles, it showing version as "unknown"  for new server with R2. I didn`t try to transfer but it may fail, too.

    Thank you for the answer, I changed the primary DNS to themselves even though it stated it should be other server on most of the forums and blogs!!!.  DCDIAG result showed below error. I realized that there is single entry on DNS on both servers other
    Domain.loc\_msdcs with win-m8rqcvgm1th.mydomain.loc., I removed that and both server passed the test. I`ll test if it is successful. But nslookup still shows Default Server:  UnKnown / Address:  192.168.144.4

  • Comparison of RMI and serialized object over TCP/IP

    I do not know quite clearly the advantages and disadvantages of the two tech. Could anybody advise in which sitution I shall use this or that?
    Thanks

    Let's assume you have some kind of a distribuited - client/server application in mind.
    OK - You see that you need to pass data back and forth, and you COULD serialize the data and pass it over TCPIP.
    So how would you make a request to do something?
    Example: Ask for a computation to be performed?
    Example: Ask for a database to be searched and selected data to be returned?
    Example: Ask for a database to be updated?
    How would you communicate the fact that a request was illegal - say an attemnpt to withdraw money from an account with no balance?
    Remote Method Invocation is one way to get the serialization, data transfer, AND formulate requests and get results.

  • Accessing and retreiving ResultSets through CORBA via JDBC

    Hey,
    Im in the middle of doing a project and I was originally planning to connect to the database through JDBC over TCP/IP only. Everything worked fine. Now Ive been told that I have to use CORBA to relay the result sets over from the remote database. ie An applet requests information, queries the CORBA server, the CORBA server via JDBC then queries the database and gets the result set. The result set is sent back via CORBA to the client applet, where the data is then manipulated.
    What I want to know is it actually possible to do this? I only know a small amount of CORBA and Ive been crawling the web for even a small example of it. Could anyone help me out. Ive been looking for the past week and you guys are my last hope.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    You won't be able to send actual instances of the Java class ResultSet via CORBA. All interfaces and data structures you use must be defined in CORBA IDL. You should be able to find a lot of tutorials about general CORBA, including the ones at the bottom of
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/guide/idl/index.html
    You should define an interface in CORBA IDL for your server that the client applet will call. Probably you'll have a method which takes the query parameters and returns some sort of data structure that you also define in IDL.
    The only problem I really see is whether or not the JVM your browser uses does CORBA very well.

  • SQLJ -codegen=jdbc

    What is the difference between the -codegen=oracle and -codegen=jdbc options of Oracle SQLJ? Will there be any performance benifit for -codegen=jdbc over -codegen=iso?

    Based on the above mentioned stack it looks like the sqlj program is being compiled in codegen=oracle mode. As can be seen in the below three lines.
    sqlj.runtime.ref.ConnectionContextImpl.getOracleConnection(ConnectionContextImpl.java:149)
    sqlj.runtime.ExecutionContext$OracleContext.prepareOracleCall(ExecutionContext.java:1507)
    adaptech.model.karibu.pusua.Pusua.existe(Pusua.sqlj:74)
    The generated client program is calling ExecutionContext.OracleContext.prepareOracleCall directly. This would be seen only with codegen=oracle and not with codegen=iso.
    Also, please do check if you have ojdbc14.jar or classes12.jar as part of the classpath at the time of execution of the program.
