JDEV 11G R1 - Panel Stretch Layout

Hi,
I am using Jdev 11g R1. I would like to know how to set the size of the "Panel Stretch Layout" component to fit to the complete window.
Whenever I add it it just render on some part of the window and I have to change the width and height to set the size accordingly. But thats really weird.

Panel Stretch Layout - Center facet needs to be adjustable

I am using JDev 11.1.1.3.0; building a public facing website.
I have set up the basic page layout with a Panel Stretch layout with facets at the top, center abd bottom. The top is the header, the bottom is the footer, the center is the content.
The payout needs to adjust based on how much content is contained within the center. Howeverm right now, that is not occuring. What is occuring is that if the content in the center exceeds the initial space, it creates a scoll bar.
I have the PSL contain set for a specific width. If I do NOT specify a height, it simply collapses. If I specify a width, taht width remains fixed.
Am I using the wrong container to define my variable content ?

wait a second here. I am confused.
When you have a normal web page, whether the content is contained within a <div> or a <table>, BOTH of those components strecth to allow the content flooding into them to show. If the content itself exceeds the height of a browser, the browser creates a scroll bar to allow the user to scroll up and down to vie wthe content. All very normal web protocol.
Here, the "PSL" comonent seems to do neither. I created a test page. It has nothing more than a PSL on it, with a TON of text I added in a <verbatim> tag and I put that in the center facet of the PSL.
Not only does the center facet NOT "push" the bottom facet down to reveal ALL of the content of the center div, (it just cuts right off mid-line) but if I remove the bottom facet, the broswer page does not stretch. the content simply runs off the page.
Why?
This should be MUCH easier than this. These ADF components are a joke. This is NOT web 2.0. What am I missing here? I want to design a simple web page where the center facet stretches top to bottom to grown with the content being added. This is my basic page layout:

the facetref named "main" is where I am dragging portlets. Some of those portlets contain a little data, some contain a lot. Either way, the page needs to strectj to accomodate the data.
Can this even be DONE? If so, what am I missing?

Inside the PanelTabbed Component I cannot insert the PanelStretchLayout component.
The error it is displaying is that the Panel Stretch Layout is not a valid child of the PanelTabbed Component.
Please let me know how can I embed the 'Table with Header Left,Footer Right' in case of a PanelTabbed Component as shown in the use case in the documentation.

Yes, children of af:panelTabbed must be af:showDetailItem - these represent each tab. You then add further components (e.g. your panelStretch, table etc.) as children to the af:showDetailItem.
Looking at your code, you have a showDetailItem but the panelStretch is not inside it. In fact nothing is inside the showDetailItem as the XML tag is self-closed (i.e. has a / at the end). You need to remove the / and add a closing tag (</af:showDetailItem) after your panelStretch.
Change your code to something like this:

Panel Stretch Layout

Hi. I'm a begginer in ADF's and Jdeveloper and need some help.
If i have a Panel Stretch Layout and in the left facet i create a static menu with a pannel accordion and a panel list with some commandlinks, how can i show some info in the center facet qhen i click those commandlinks?
in my faces-config.xml i have a index.jspx and a secondary page page1.jspx joined by a gotopage1 JSF navigation case.
What i need is to click in the command link placed in the index.jspx page on the left facet of the panel strech layout and the result of clicking on it draws the page1.jspx in the center facet of the panel stretch layout.

There are a number of ways achieve what you describe. One method would be to set the rendered attribute on the panel you wish to render to "true" based on the selection in the left menu. In addition, you will need to set a partialPageTrigger on each panel. The trigger should identify the id of the link that should display the corresponding panel. The is probably the simplest approach.

Partial Trigger is not working with Panel Group Layout using ADF 11g.

I have a requirment , Based on the <af:selectBooleanCheckbox> value I have to render <af:panelGroupLayout> dynamically. If the check box is checked then I have to display panel group layout otherwise not. The problem what I am facing here is Partial Trigger is not working, If I Un check the boolean box and refresh the page then I see it is working. If I don't refresh the page I am not seeing this is working as expected.

How to right align a read only numeric field in a panel form layout

Hi, does anyone know how to right align a read only numeric field in a panel form layout? I am using: Style Class = AFFieldNumberMarker, but it only seems to work if the field is disabled. Disabling the field gives it a difference appearance that does not look right on our forms. These are calculated fields, which cannot be modified, so read only is necessary.
I have looked online for some answers, and it seems that others are having similar issues.
I have tried different combinations for the properties, but so far I cannot get it to work.

Problem creating reference heap snapshot with JDev 11g and OAS10g

Has anyone successfully configured OAS 10g and JDev 11g for reference heap snapshots in the memory profiler?
I have configured the server in opmn.xml and the client in JDeveloper. I can start the server and connect the JDev profiler and start and stop the use case.
I do not, however, see any results in JDevelopers References panel, and I get an I/O error when stopping the use case
"Profiler snapshot I/O error reading input file D:\profile\myfile.opi". This binary file is actually written, however.
The Java start parameters in opmn.xml are:
-agentlib:profiler15=port=4627,
jarpath=D:\jdev\lib\profiler-agent.jar,enable=r,refpath=D:\profile\myfile.opi

OAS v10.1.2.0.2,

I have the panel form layout with components, fine perfect, but...
when I want to put a LOV such an output the text
the center together the alignment of the components is lost i have the picture :)

Stacking panel groups layout using a responsive design UI

Hi,
I am wondering if there is any way by using adf components, stretching, etc to accomplish what we can see in responsive web applications. For example, given a full screen you can see three panel groups layout next to each other, but if you reduce the size of the browser, the panel group should stack one on top of another. Anyone has done this? Any ideas?

Error while running HRFacadeClient of JDev 11g Tutorial

I was following the tutorial under Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces
Section 19 says to run application under OC4J,
19. Right click the HRFacadeBean in the Application Navigator and select Run from the context menu to launch the facade bean in the Embedded OC4J sever.

Hi Heidi,
I tried once again to install a fresh instance of Oracle soa suite 10.1.3.0 and upgraded it to 10.1.3.4 successfully. I did all the JDeveloper 11g installation and configure SOA process all successfully. I can create a connection to OC4J using 12401 RMI port successfully but none of my applications are deployed to server.
This message is repeatedly displaying in messages tab:
Exception returned by remote server: com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIConnectionException: Disconnected: oracle.oc4j.admin.management.shared.SharedModuleType. local class incompatible during deploy ...
The default OC4J RMI port is 23791 but in my installation it is set to 12401 when I checked the Runtime Port option of Oracle Application Server and the connection is fine with this port but applications can not be deployed with this configuration.
I can deploy applications on separate standalone OC4J instance successfully but not able to do it with my SOA application server.
Any comments will be appreciated.

Jdev 11g Production - Unable to edit EO/ VOs from Application Navigator

I created an ADF Model project. In this project I created ADF's 'Business Components from Tables' using the wizard. I went through the wizard and created EO, VO, AM and business diagram. After that, I was able to execute the AM (right-click and Run), but when I tried to open the EO or VO to edit properties (Right-click and Open), I was unable to do so.

user8028667, under JDev 11g you're right, it should be right click > Open (entity name). This should open the Entity Object document window.
Unfortunately the link you've provided appears to be internal to Oracle and can't be viewed by the vast majority of readers on this external Oracle forum. I'm guessing you're an Oracle employee because of the link you supplied. The Oracle JDev PMs normally point Oracle employees to post on internal forums, not external customer forums.

Minor display bug in JDev 11g "View Annotation" with Subversion

Hi all,
A very minor visual display issue with the "View Annotations" feature of JDev 11g when using a Subversion repository. To reproduce, simply follow these steps:
1). Open up any source file and right-click in the editor; select Versioning -> View Annotation. The annotations will be shown, and if you right-click again, you will see a check-mark next to the "View Annotation" menu item.
2). Open another source file. Annotations are not shown. Right-click in the editor; you will see that "View Annotation" menu item displays a check-mark (even though annotations are not shown). Select Versioning -> View Annotation. Annotations are now shown, but you will see the check-mark is no longer displayed.
To summarize my analysis; it appears that "View Annotation" was intended to be a global setting (as indicated by the check-mark), but is actually implemented on a file-by-file basis. Obviously a very minor display bug not affecting functionality, but a bug nonetheless.

Creating a webservice from PL/SQL Package in JDev 11g

Hi All...
I have a PL/SQl package and I am using JDEv 11g. I want to create it as a webservice. I want to deploy it in a remote server. Can I deploy it from my client machine. In server Weblogic already started. What are the prerequisites, that we need to deploy a wbservice. I done the following steps.
1. Create an application.
2. Right click the package and select Generate Java option.
3. It create a Java class in the Application sources.
4. Double click the class and select Create Web Service. It created the web service.
5. When I select the webservice and click Run it shows the following error. It going to the Default \server. Actually I need it in a remote server.

JDev 11g update 1 base edition on windows: error building default domain

Hi all,
(refer to [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=3168105]here for original post)
I'm posting this again with some more information. When downloading the Studio Edition (Base - no JDK) version of JDeveloper 11g update 1, an error occurs upon first (and each subsequent) startup of JDeveloper (error details below).
Tests that I have done:
1). Install using JDK 6 u 11 - JDK did not show up automatically in the installer, had to browse to find it and select it. Running using 6u11, 6u10, and 6u7 (deleting the system directory after each try) - error occurs.
2). Install using JDK 6 u7 - JDK was automatically found by the installer. Running using 6u7, 6u11, and 6u10 (deleting the system directory after each try) - error occurs
These errors do not occur when using the Windows installer. For information: my machine is Windows 2008 Server Standard 32-bit. An update - I just tried this on a Vista 64-bit laptop (running Sun 32-bit JDK 6u10) and did not have the problem. Ergo, this seems to be an issue with the JDK and detecting Windows 2008 as a Windows platform (or possibly with whatever mechanism JDev/WLS is using to detect the OS platform). I'll do more research on that and update if I find anything.
One more update: I didn't find any issues reported like this related to Windows 2008, but I did one more test: install and run JDeveloper using:

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_05-b13)
BEA JRockit(R) (build R27.6.0-50_o-100423-1.6.0_05-20080626-2105-windows-ia32, compiled mode)                                                                   The issue does not occur using this JDK. So to summarize, installing JDev 11g update 1 Studio edition, base installer using any of the SUN JDK's on Windows 2008 gives this problem. Using the windows installer or JRockit Mission Control JVM - no problems.
Finally, one last update - the error is related to the JVM that is used to install, not the one used to run JDeveloper (via editing jdev.conf) - the offending JDK is in wlserver_10.3\common\bin\commEnv.cmd. Seems like a no-no to have one JDK running JDev and another running the integrated WLS, though. Quite a pity, as JDev starts up pretty slowly using JRockit Mission Control.
JRockit Realtime seems to be a bit faster... sigh - now to remove the 72 extra JDK's on my laptop ;)
My going forward plan: use the Windows installer. Wish I never installed Windows Server 2008.

I'm posting this again with some more information. When downloading the Studio Edition (Base - no JDK) version of JDeveloper 11g update 1, an error occurs upon first (and each subsequent) startup of JDeveloper (error details below).
Tests that I have done:
1). Install using JDK 6 u 11 - JDK did not show up automatically in the installer, had to browse to find it and select it. Running using 6u11, 6u10, and 6u7 (deleting the system directory after each try) - error occurs.
2). Install using JDK 6 u7 - JDK was automatically found by the installer. Running using 6u7, 6u11, and 6u10 (deleting the system directory after each try) - error occurs
These errors do not occur when using the Windows installer. For information: my machine is Windows 2008 Server Standard 32-bit. An update - I just tried this on a Vista 64-bit laptop (running Sun 32-bit JDK 6u10) and did not have the problem. Ergo, this seems to be an issue with the JDK and detecting Windows 2008 as a Windows platform (or possibly with whatever mechanism JDev/WLS is using to detect the OS platform). I'll do more research on that and update if I find anything.
One more update: I didn't find any issues reported like this related to Windows 2008, but I did one more test: install and run JDeveloper using:

BEA JRockit(R) (build R27.6.0-50_o-100423-1.6.0_05-20080626-2105-windows-ia32, compiled mode)                                                                   The issue does not occur using this JDK. So to summarize, installing JDev 11g update 1 Studio edition, base installer using any of the SUN JDK's on Windows 2008 gives this problem. Using the windows installer or JRockit Mission Control JVM - no problems.
Finally, one last update - the error is related to the JVM that is used to install, not the one used to run JDeveloper (via editing jdev.conf) - the offending JDK is in wlserver_10.3\common\bin\commEnv.cmd. Seems like a no-no to have one JDK running JDev and another running the integrated WLS, though. Quite a pity, as JDev starts up pretty slowly using JRockit Mission Control.
JRockit Realtime seems to be a bit faster... sigh - now to remove the 72 extra JDK's on my laptop ;)
My going forward plan: use the Windows installer. Wish I never installed Windows Server 2008.
