JDeveloper 10.1.3 preview and Hibernate 3.0
I'm testing JDeveloper Preview 10.1.3.0.2.223 and find some problems when using hibernate 3.0
When I'm using with OC4J, some packages conflicts and Hibernate don't work.
I hava to rename <jdevhome1013>\webservices\lib to <jdevhome1013>\webservices\libold
and replace the file <jdevhome1013>\j2ee\home\lib\asm.jar from file asm.jar that folloies Hibernate 3.0
So, I'd like to know if it's a know bug, a unknow bug or JDeveloper/OC4J won't support applications with Hibernate?

I'm evaluating JDeveloper (for the first time, not migrating from a previous version), so I'm realy brand new with this environment.
Now that I see that you (maybe) go in the same direction I go, please, give me your opinion about one point.
I can see JDeveloper gives the developer a lot of code-generating advantages if you accept using ADF and the rest of the whole Oracle proposed environment. Specifically, the amazing speed you can get on binding the three tiers: database (with connections and drag-and-drops for tables), Business Objects and logic (with middle tier wizards) and presentation tier (with that great drag-and-drop jsp creation tool). I think all this tools can really make a speed-difference
But
I dont like proprietary solutions, I like open-source-standards, so
I prefer Hibernate (3.0.5), any structural-framework, like Struts or whichever, and for example JSF for the presentation tier (still evaluating this point)
Ive seen that tutorial about using Hibernate + JSF with JDeveloper (http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/vohra_hibernate.html) but it didnt satisfied me too much: Its written for Hibernate 2.1.8 and migrating to Hibernate 3.0 is not possible without a headache
So finally, I decided to import a neutrally built Struts + Hibernate 3.0 project and try to speed it up using JDeveloper. And then it was when I hit my head against this problem youve just solved! Jiiiimy, Jiiiiimy!!!! :-))))))
So, finally, my questions:
1) Would you say that if Im developing this within this kind of tools, then JDeveloper still gives me much of the speed It gives in the first case? Can I drag-and-speedy-drop from database to model tier, or from model to control or to presentation tiers without introducing any Oracle libraries in my project? How? Do you have any example?
2) In your opinion, which is the best environment for speeding up this whole development process: JDeveloper, Eclipse + Exadel or any other plug-in environment? Any other you may prefer?

I am using Flash Builder 4.6, BlazeDS, and Hibernate. How to store a webcam snapshot into the MySql Database. I stored Form Items by using RemoteObject into the database. But I failed to store webcam snapshot. I captured that image on Panel component.I converted that image to ByteArray. Now I want to save that image into the database. Please help me in this regard.

Adding New View Objects/Link on "Preview and Print" - Order Acknowledgement
Hi,
Can we add New View Objects/View Links for the existing "Preview and Print" Order Acknowledgement.
I want to add for the 2 new functionalities i.e., for Charges (from OE_PRICE_ADJUSTMENTS_V ) and the Line Level Notes, which is currently not supported by Oracle.
Can anyone help me on acheving this functionality?

MuruYou can do that. You should first create the new business objects(AM, VO, VL) in jdeveloper, create your new regions in jdeveloper, associate the AM to the top level region(stackLayout) you create. Use personalization and add a stack layout in the Preview and Print page, set the extends property to point to the new region which you had created. Donot forget to deploy all the files in middle tier before doing the personalization.
The AM which you had added to the stackLayout will automatically be nested with the root AM of the page during runtime. -

I have customized the sales order acknowledgement report and created a new report with my modifications and designed a rtf template to view the output.
I need to call my new template in the place of Preview and Print.
I referred to Note:341206.1 which states to update the template. As I have modified the report itself , this doesn't works. Can anyone let me know to do the same?

Problem removing files with CVS (JDeveloper 10.1.3 Preview)
Hello,
I've got a problem removing files from CVS :
- I right-click on the file I want to remove -> Versioning -> Remove
- The file is removed from local directory, and it appears in "Pending changes" view, on "Outgoing" tab. Its status is "scheduled for removal".
- When I commit the file in the "Pending Changes" view, and click OK, then nothing happens. The file stay with "scheduled for removal" status, and it is not deleted on CVS server.
I tried to commit the package or the project, but it's the same thing.
Files additions and modifications work correctly.
I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3 Preview version.
Is this a bug ? Or do I do something wrong ? Is there an other way to solve my problem ?

Has some one tried this yet?Over here I'm using JDev 902 and I think I had a similar problem (not specifically related to JHeadstart though). In short, I'm almost certain that it has something to do with the different versions of xmlparserv2.jar that are available. Or, at least.. I think that was the case over here. After I correctly used the jars listed here: http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/howtos/appservers/deploy_bc4j_to_iplanet.html#update_classpath the NoSuchMethodException disappeared.
I must stress out that the NoSuchMethodException I had might not be related to yours, but I know for a fact that before I made sure I was using all the correct jars, I was in fact using a different (and maybe incorrect) version of the xmlparserv2.jar

Sleep and Hibernate does not work after BIOS update X1 Carbon 20A8
As subject title, did a recent Lenovo "System Update" on BIOS and other drivers, and since then sleep and hibernate no longer works, when i close the lid, it turns on by itself after 2 seconds.
When i select Sleep or Hibernate in Windows 8.1 with lid open, it just behaves like a Restart command.
Need this fixed! Any ideas?Try downgrading to your older BIOS and see if it works again.

Problems with display of preview - and Adobe's tech support.
Hello, all.
After quite a bit of struggle I am still experiencing problems with the way Bridge CS5 displays previews. Previews are displayed with rather low quality. By that I mean low resolution that causes images to appear pixelated and out of focus. I've tried every possible setting in Bridge (or at least I think I have) but nothing seems to work. The setting that forces Previews to be built to the specific monitor size of the computer used doesn't work for me as I spend equal amounts of time working between my Macbook Pro 17" and my Apple 30" cinema display that have different resolutions. I've tried this setting and the preview images created on the notebook would not display at all on the 30" display.
I have contacted support only to find it is nearly non-existent. A voice obviously from someone located in India answered and kept asking what I considered to be basic questions and must have used the word "apologize" at least 20 to 30 times (no exageration) during the 1 hour and 43 minutes we were on the phone to accomplish nothing other than to "register" my complaint.
What is happening to Adobe ? This is not a joke, a rumor or an angry comment but rather a serious question from a user who has built a professional workflow based on the use of Adobe's products. I have been an user of the Adobe Creative Suite since its very first version and of the individual applications even before then. Bridge is one of the applications I use the most in my workflow that involves the organization of my large database of medical images I keep from my treatments and research. So this is very serious to me. I am now on the phone with Adobe waiting again to speak with someone in technical support. I was told the average waiting time would take between 35 and 50 minutes and I didn't think it would be possible but so far I have been on hold waiting for 1 hour and 7 minutes and someone has yet to answer the phone. What is happening with Adobe ? Is the company about to go out of business ? The last time I remember experiencing such a lack of support from a company I did so when contacting Polaroid and we all know what happened to it.
To make matters worse I have twice contacted Adobe and asked their technical support agent to remove a phone number that they seem to have mistakenly written as a contact number in my files. More than one month after I registered my support request I finally received an e-mail stating that had tried to contact me at the phone that isn't mine and shouldn't be a part of my records despite the fact I have instructed them twice to remove. There are serious legal implications here as I am bound to confidentiality when it comes to the medical information I manage with my Adobe applications and the idea that someone in technical support may accidentally share this information with a stranger while calling the wrong number is a serious problem.
What is going on ?
Outside of this forum I have no idea who to contact and if it is even worthwhile doing so as it may prove to be a huge waste of time.
Bridge has been a problem application since its inception. In fact the only version of Bridge that seemed to have worked (somewhat) right out of the box was the first one. I have experienced problems with Bridge with every single new version. Previews that don't display properly, crashes, folder hierarchy indicators not displaying properly, and others. The same images display fine if I open them in Apple's OS X Preview or Photoshop CS5. The problem is restricted to Bridge. All images are RAW high-quality images from a professional Canon EOS 1Ds MK II camera with a 17 megapixel full size sensor, and they always look stunning on everything else.
What is one to do ???

I've tried both choices for both options. My usual default options are 'Software Rendering' unchecked as I have a new Macbook Pro (only a few months old) and the graphics card is powerful enough to handle the previews and 'Monitor Previews' also unchecked.

On Bridge's interface upper right hand corner I have also selected using one of its pull down menus the following options:

Problem with Preview and PSD files - random gray square
Hi guys, hope you can help...
I've got a problem with Preview and PSD files.
If I open in Preview both an original jpg straight from my reflex and the photoshop version of the same picture, the psd file presents a gray square (of what it seems unrendered image) in a random area of the photo (sometimes in the center.). The square is quite big...
If I zoom in or zoom out it disappears...if I scroll to another photo and then back to the psd, the square it's there again...sometimes in a different position.
I've tried the same psd on my older iMac with leopard...and got no problem at all.
I suspect it got something to do with my Ati...
(this is the second iMac 27...the first went back for gray banding on the lcd screen and flickering and yellow tinge........)

I've just found out that opening Preview in 32bit mode (instead of default 64bit) works flawlessly with any psd files. If I switch back to 64bit mode, Preview is much faster but the gray square comes back...
It seems like the i7 is much faster than the Ati....
Any more realistic ideas? -
Preview and Open dialog box on initial start of program?
Okay, I understand that it might be beneficial when starting Preview that an open dialog box also pops up. However, I find it VERY annoying that it does it when I double click on a PDF and Preview goes through it's initial startup. It NEVER did this before...am I missing some setting?
I know it may seem like a small annoyance but, for some reason, it really bugs me.Thanks. I guess I wasn't very effective with my search phrases before posting.
It did solve the annoyance but definitely seems like a bug to me. I will post in feedback to Apple since opening a pdf in preview and then automatically opening an open dialog box has no value. It also shouldn't be linked to Documents and Data in icloud being checked or not. -
Preview and Download in ALV report blank

I have a problem. When user preview and download to local save (txt, xls, etc) from report in ALV format, user get blank preview and blank file.
I use 2 FM.
1st i use FM REUSE_ALV_LIST_LAYOUT_INFO_GET to get fieldcat because user want to download after customize the layout (example default there are 5 field then user hide 2 field so only 3 field are displayed and downloaded).
2nd I use FM REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY to display as ALV format. and user can download via download button default in ALV format.

Preview and print a Crystal report prompted for the sa password
Dear All,
Our customer has Crystal report add-on to be installed. When we Preview and print a Crystal report, we got a window prompted for the sa password. Even we type in a correct password, it still says wrong password...
Every time when I open my report in Crystal Basic 2008 on the server, then go database expert >> My connections >> click + in front of the connection name, it asks my sa password. I type in my password then save and close. Next time when I open the report and go my connections, I have to type in my password again. This only happens on one customer.

Correct, MS does NOT support MDAC or WDAC when connecting to SQL 2008.
2) Then go ODBC >> SQL Native Client 10.0 >> Create a new connection to SAP server. Should we use sa user or another use that has the same authorization as sa?
Correct again if they are also using ODBC to connect, as for using the sa account or creating a new one is up to you. I suggest creating a Crystal account with what ever rights your app needs, this way if tracing it turned on etc. you can confirm who is actually running the report.
3) Then from MY Crystal report, I have to use ODBC connection as well?
Just to clarify, if you created your reprots using OLE DB then they can do so also. But you need to update your connection properties. Open each report click on Database, Set Location, scroll down to OLE DB and expand and then choose MS SQL Server Native 10 as your OLE DB provider, fill in all the logon info and then verify the database. Do the same for each subreport also.
Save your report and either send them the new one or if you are doing this remotely then replace the original report.
VERIFY your reports to confirm they still return correct data and do work as expected.
Or if you are using ODBC then yes you do select the MS 10 driver with a new DSN. Then do the above to update the reports to all use ODBC as their data sources.

Transfer Object in JSF, Spring, and Hibernate
The application on which I am working deploys the JavaServer Faces, Spring and Hibernate frameworks.
We are going to use the "transfer object" to move data between J2EE tiers from the front end to the back end and vice versa. In addition, data "types" may need to be converted --
At the front end, the "type" of the data that are entered by users may not match that in the database table. For example, checkboxes may be marked or left blank by users. The "type" of the checkboxes is "boolean" in the JSF backing bean. However, we have either "Y" or "N" for the corresponding field in the database table.
The JSF backing bean holds data as well as controller functionality. Of course, the transfer object holds data only.
With regard to class properties, Is the transfer object an exact copy of the JSF backing bean? And at which tier the data are converted to match their correspoding "types" in the database tables?
We also have the "data objects" which are exact representation of database tables.

has a 3rd state: null).But it all goes back to your data model. If your data model supports null for that property, then of course boolean is a poor choice. If that case one could use Boolean. None of this has anything to do with re-usability, which was your objection.
I think the re-usability question goes back to the data model as well. Suppose your data model says this property is boolean valued. However if your database does not support booleans natively, then you need to map the value for storage in the database. But that is the data persistence layers problem.
OTOH, suppose your data model says that this property may be 'Y' or 'N'. Then the Java class represent the business object should not have a boolean property, we should make it match the data model.
However, I think that most cases where people are storing 'Y' or 'N' in a field in the database fall into the first case, where the data model is a boolean and they are working around limitations in the database. There is no reason in that case to perpetuate the same limitations in the Java code.
