JDeveloper 10 (9.0.5.2) with Java 1.5

Hi everyone,
I've tried to use Java 1.5 SDk in conjunction with JDeveloper 10g with no success. I always get the following error message:
Error: initialization error: class file has wrong version 49.0, should be 45.3 or 46.0 or 47.0 or 48.0 on classpath C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\jre\lib\rt.jar;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\jre\lib\i18n.jar;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\jre\lib\sunrsasign.jar;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\jre\lib\jsse.jar;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\jre\lib\jce.jar;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\jre\lib\charsets.jar;C:\Program Files\dev\Workspaces\Testing\TestServlet\classes;C:\Program Files\dev\jdev9052\jdev\lib\jdev-rt.jar;C:\Program Files\dev\jdev9052\j2ee\home\oc4j.jar;C:\Program Files\dev\jdev9052\j2ee\home\lib\servlet.jar;C:\Program Files\dev\Workspaces\Lib\JEncrypt.jar;C:\Program Files\dev\Workspaces\Lib\crimson.jar;C:\lib\mysql-connector-java-3.0.10-stable-bin.jar
now, my guess is that the oracle compiler is of an older java version (1.4x), how do I point the thing to use a different compiler? I've got the user libraries set at my 1.5 sdk java.exe
Thanks tons,
Herman

well.. to run jdev on the 1.5.0 JVM, its relatively simple...
Go into the jdev.conf, and find the "commented out" variable that looks like this:
# SetJavaHome is not required by default, except for the base install,
# since the launcher will determine the JAVA_HOME. On Windows it looks
# in ..\..\jdk, on UNIX it looks in the PATH by default.
# SetJavaHome /usr/java/jdk1.5.0
I run on linux, so my path is forward slashes. On windows, you would point it to the C:\Program Files\Java\1.5.0 or wheerever you base Java path is. Now execute jdevw, and it should run on 1.5.0 also.
A dialog box WILL pop up, (it may be BEHIND the jdev splash screen.. so it might be hard to find), which tells you that jdev is not supported on 1.5.0, but I hit the little checkbox to never tell me again, and hit "ok".
Jdev will happily load and run. Its just that debugging on linux doen't work. (I haven't tried on windows yet.. maybe I should).
While you are in the jdev.conf, there is another thing that can help with speed (both 1.4.2 and 1.5.0)....
# The Windows launcher will attempt to use client (hotspot) by default,
# unless a VM is specified below with the following directive. On UNIX
# we use whatever is listed first in the $(JAVA_HOME)/jre/lib/jvm.cfg file.
SetJavaVM server
Setting this value from "hotspot" or "client" to "server" makes the JVM take a little bit more memory, and it takes a little bit longer to load INTO Jdev, but once in, EVERYTHING runs smoother.

  • 3 Levels Master Detail View Object with Java class interface

    Hi Developers,
    I've created 3 tables with one to many relations as below
    BOARD ------<- APPLICANT ------<- QUALIFICATION
    a board includes many applicants and an applicant includes many qualifications.
    When I add these tables to a Fusion Project, JDeveloper 11g helps me to add the Entity Links and View Associations automatically.
    Then, I defined these relations in an ApplicantModule's Data Model as below.
    [+] BoardVO1
          |
          |--[+] ApplicantVO1
                   |
                   |--[+] QualificationVO1The problem is: I cannot write any function in QualificationVO and publish it by client interface.
    I created a simple function with a single line (System.out.println(...) ) in QualificationVOImpl.java. and selected it in Client Interface. But when I execute it from the ApplicantionModel for testing, an oracle.jbo.NoObjException JBO-25003 is raised. with message: Object ... ApplicantVO1 of type ApplicationModule not found.
    Has anyone tried to implement some coding in the third level of a master details view structure as my example? How do you make it works?
    I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.1.3 with ADF BC.
    Regards,
    Samson Fu

    Samson,
    Looks like a bug (probably with the application module tester). I created your tables:
    create table board(board_id number primary key not null);
    create table applicant(applicant_id number primary key not null, board_id number not null);
    create table qualification(qualification_id number primary key not null, aplicant_id number not null);
    alter table applicant add a_fk foreign key(board_id) references board;
    alter table qualification add q_fk foreign key(aplicant_id) references applicant;I created a JDev project and got the same results. I've e-mailed a test case off to Frank.
    Frank - the method is indeed exposed on the VO instance, and I tried testing that way, but the AM tester gives the error as if it is looking for an AM instance with the VO's name.

  • BC4J and OAS with Java Application Client

    Could you show me an example about using the BC4J and OAS with Java Application client.
    The JDeveloper Help is not enough to solve this kind of problem.
    Configuration:
    Jdeveloper 3.1
    OAS 4.0.8.1
    Database 7.3.4
    null

    if you can logon with client tools then that should be an indication that the service account running the CMS IS working! Good news.
    So the problem is likely with the java portion (krb5/bsclogin or java options)
    If the files are in c:\winnt\ (if not copy them there) and perform c:\program files\business objects\javasdk\bin\kinit username
    then enter and password/enter again
    Probably get the same message. To note in your krb5.ini all domain info must be in CAPS (the .com appears to be in lower case)
    kinit works with just the krb5.ini, java SDK and AD (removing BO config and the service account from the picture). Once that works if your java options are specified properly you should be able to login to CMC/infoview.
    also 1 last point. Add udp_preference_limit = 1 to the krb5 lib defaults section
    libdefaults
    default_realm = BD.com
    dns_lookup_kdc = true
    dns_lookup_realm = true
    udp_preference_limit = 1

  • Programming the Oracle Database with Java and Web Services: sample chapter

    This will be the first book devoted to Java in the Oracle Database: read the sample chapter @ http://www.oracle.com/technology/books/pdfs/mensah_ch1.pdf
    This book also covers the latest Oracle JDBC, Oracle SQLJ, JPublisher and Database Web Services A brief description @
    http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/bookdescription.cws_home/706089/description#description
    Thanks, Kuassi

    Hi Kuassi,
    Thanks for letting us know that your book is available. I have been following one of your articles about "Virtualize Your Oracle Database with Web Services". More specifically "The Database as Web Services Consumer". I think that this is an area that has in the past been under estimated as to the potential benefits.
    I am currently trying to develop a solution that consumes several interfaces with a couple of them being published web services, so an ideal solution. I have then spent the last three weeks having to read up about the architecture of Java in the database, Jpublisher and make sense of how it all works together.
    I have got very close to getting one of the web services to work but failed due to using 10gR2 where all the java & libraries has moved to version 1.5. The solution is to load the jdk1.4.2 and configure jpublisher to use this. So far so good except this is not available on some platforms, Windows - 64 bit (not itanium).
    The configuration is proving very challenging but will hopefully reap rewards.
    (Thought I would give you some background to my experience).
    Anyway my question to you is having looked at Jdeveloper it appears to do almost anything except consume services into the database, also with Java now being at version 1.5 outside the database for 10gR2 and supporting 1.4 inside, do you see some alignment of these in future database releases?
    Finally off to buy your book now as no doubt there is a huge amount more to learn.
    Kind Regards

  • Help with Java Web Service

    Hi,
    I tried integrating java code with java embedding acitivity, but in em it is failing. Can anybody know how to convert the below java code to a webservice, so that I can pass the input paramaters directly to that webservice. I tried of converting java code to webservice in jdeveloper, but because of static void main it is not converting. Can somebody help me in this issue.
    this is the original executable java code.

                   m_session = instance.createSession(params);
                   admin = m_session.getAdminInstance();

              } catch (APIException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
              } finally {
                   m_session.close();
    Can somebody help me in converting this code into a webservice which accepts String SR as input from soa.
    Thanks,

    Hi Francois,
    I never tried to use a webservice in the value help wizzard, so I don't know if it works or not.
    But for your problem you can build your own value help to avoid the problem.
    You told us that the webservice works in the storyboard. The value help wizard "only" creates a popup iView in your model and assigns the output field of the popup to an input field in a form.
    Maybe as a solution you can insert a popup to the model by yourself. Assign the output field of your popup to the input field for which you want to have the value help. Inside the popup iView you can use your custom built webservice.
    I know that this is a little bit circuitous, but I think it will work.

    Hi There.
    We had the same problem with some of our code. We moved the definition of the class from a method out of the method. Like this:
    public class{
    class{
    instead of doing this:
    public class{
    method() {
    class{
    This worked with the web start......

    It is possible to run an application in the embedded runtime with JDK 1.4 after running with JDK 1.5 but there is some workarounds you will need to perform. You can see my comments at the end of the following thread. The error message is somewhat different, so you could be experiencing a different problem.
    Re: Unsupported major.minor version 49.0
    If you run your application once in the embedded server using JDK 1.5 you must follow these steps:
    Before switching from JDK 5.0 to JDK 1.4.2, you must remove all compiled application files from the OC4J instance:
    1. Stop the OC4J instance.
    2. Delete the ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/instance/application-deployments directory.
    Deleting this directory will cause the application files to be recompiled when OC4J is restarted with JDK 1.4.2.
    This info was included in the 10.1.3.0 release notes and continues to hold true in 11g.
    Switching Between JDK 1.5 and JDK 1.4 When Running Applications in Embedded Server (4737312,4747983)
    Users must be cognizant of the JDK version being used when running applications in the embedded server. This is especially true when switching between versions of the JDK and working with multiple JDeveloper projects with different JDK versions.
    By default the embedded server starts with JDK 1.5. Once the server has run with JDK 1.5, running a JDK 1.4 based project (Project Properties->Libraries -> J2SE Version) will require that users follow the steps documented in chapter 4 (OC4J runtime configuration) of the Oracle Containers for J2EE Configuration and Administration Guide.

    I am getting a null connection context, and I assume that it is looking for the directory connection information (OID host,port,user,password).
    Is this somehow specified in the .properties file?

  • XSLT Mapping with Java class not working in Integration Repository

    Hi,
    I have an XSLT mapping program with Java enhancement and I was able to successfully tested it in Stylus Studio. However, when I imported the Java class and the xslt program in Enterprise Service Builder and tested it, my program does not compile.
    Here is the error message: "Transformer Configuration Exception occurred when loading XSLT mapping_temp.xsl; details: Could not compile stylesheet".
    My java program is in a zip file containing SOAPHeaderHandler.java and SOAPHeaderhandler.class. My Java has a package com.nga.xslt.
    Here is the declaration of my Java class in the XSLT: xmlns:javamap="java:com.nga.xslt.SOAPHeaderHandler"
    It seems that it could not read the java class. Can you please advice what is wrong?

    Hi ,
    select XMLTOOLKIT option in Operation mapping and execute it.
    I am not sure we can call java program in XSLT Program,but alternative is copy the code and use it in XSLT mapping it self,that means your XSLT program will become with JAVA extensions.
    then in Operation mapping level select SAPXMLTOOL kit option and execute it. i hope it will work. if it is not working then you have deploy some JAXP files on server,because the way execution of XSLT Mpaping program got changed,like when eve you executing XSLT with extnasions( if you are not using XMLTOOL kit option) then you have to use latest version of JAXP.JDK files.

    I want to pass along a couple of tips that will get you more and better response on this list.
    1) There is an un-written rule that says more "stars" is better than just one star. Giving a one star rating will probably eliminate that responder from individuals that are willing to anser your question.
    2) If someone gives you an answer that meets your needs, reply to that answer and say that it worked.
    3) If someone suggests that you look at an example, DO IT! LV comes with a wonderful set of examples that demonstate almost all of the core functionality of LV. Familiarity with all of the LV examples will get you through about 80% of the Certified LabVIEW Developer exam.
    4) If you have a question first search the examples for something tha
    t may help you. If you can not find an example that is exactly what you want, find one that is close and post a question along the lines of "I want to do something similar to example X, how can I modify it to do Y".
    5) Some of the greatest LabVIEW minds offer there services and advice for free on this exchange. If you treat them good, they can get you through almost every challenge that can be encountered in LV.
    6) If English is not your native language, post your question in the language you favor. There is probably someone around that can help. "We're big, we're bad, we're international!"

  • Problem with java installation on Linux

    HI ,
    I am trying to install jdk on Linux..I am new to java and Linux both. I am trying to download the file for the linux installation onto my home PC(windows XP) and then ftp it to my Linux machine. I need to do this because I have a remote login to my Linux machine( a server at school). However when I try to download file my IE jsut crashes. I can see the page for accepting the Agreement but when I click on Accept the next page just stops responding.
    Could someone explain why this is happening.
    thanks,
    G.

    The problem doesn't have to do anything with Java or Linux as far as i can see. It's more likely a problem with Windows XP and IE. Be assured that normally downloading the Linux JDK in windows is not a problem.

  • Problem with Java and Windows (Mainly Vista and UAC)

    Hi all,
    I am having a problem with a program that I've devoloped. The program itself is packaged as a jar and I plan to deploy it across multiple platforms eventually however right now i am only concerned about windows based systems. I have made an installer for a windows baised systems using NSIS to install the software files. I made the installer as I need several java packages to be installed so the program would work (JAI, J3D, JAI ImageIO) and I also require the program to have fileassociations on windows.
    I know that this is not what java is about, however the majority of the users will be on windows baised systems so I've decided that OS specific installers is the best option.
    During the process I have noticed that there are several key problem with java for this type of application!
    The first issue that I have come across is getting file associations to work on java. As a .jar is not an excutable it is not possible to directly associate a filetype with it in java so to overcome this I currently run the program from a .bat files and also the program requires large memory so this also allows me to run the program with -xmx. The batch file that I use is :
    <code>
    cd PATH TO PROGRAM
    start javaw -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -Xmn100M -Xms500M -Xmx1000M -jar "PATH TO PROGRAM\program.jar" %1 -vram 134217728
    pause;
    </code>
    Ok so all this appears to work fine and allows windows to have file associations and start the program and thats all works perfectly but this is a non-ideal solution. Has anyone got any advice on improving this?
    The next problem that I have appears to be a problem with Vista and UAC (user access control). When a user installs the program and installs the program into the program files directory I found that the program did not work and kept saying that I did not have access to the files in the current directory. This is a problem as I read and write settings files during program execution.
    On a Vista system UAC prevents file write operations into the Program Files directory unless the program has requested elevated status even if the user is a full administrator. The probem is that there appears to be no real way to achieve this under java that I'm aware of...
    Has anyone else had this probem and has a suitable solution?
    Any advice on these issues would realy be appricated.
    Regards
    Joey

    Ok so i've kinda found a solution, its not ideal but its very good. I found this program called Elevate
    A link to the site I got it was
    http://www.wintellect.com/cs/blogs/jrobbins/archive/2007/03/27/elevate-a-process-at-the-command-line-in-vista.aspx
    This program allows you start java with a UAC dialog for high access using
    Elevate java -jar myjar.jar
    This then allows you to have full access using java... I guess it could be dangerous but it does the job.

  • Problem with java and flex web service

    Hi,
    I have a basic web service written in java using jax ws 2.1
    ri. I need to call it from Flex using the WebService class
    Annotations for the java web method :
    @WebMethod
    public void Login(
    @WebParam(name="server") String serverURL,
    @WebParam(name=AUTHENTICATE_HEADER,header=true,mode=WebParam.Mode.INOUTHolder<Authenticate Header>
    authHeader)
    When I try and call the service from Flex , it can't find the
    login method and attempts to call it fail. If I set the web service
    to RPC based using @SOAPBinding , the method is found but then
    there are issues with the authentication header.
    What do I need to do to get flex web services communicating
    succesfully with java ?
    Are there are any known compatibility issues ? Or guidelines
    for going about this ?
    Any help would be appreciated

    well Shay,
    i've used JDev's tools to developer and to deploy the web service: the war and ear files are automatically generates you to the end of the process.
    I have included all the files java and the compiled classes, but I do not have files jar.
    But don't works: if i create only one java class with all code inside then it works fine!!

    So here is what comes to pass.
    Recall this started as a Lion Safari/5+ environment that SU took to version 6.
    Two weeks ago I just updated Flash Player. Today I fire up Java Preferences and I am told that I need to download Java. Did so, intentionally hit the "factory reset" button and then installed the Flash Player from teh Adobe site. The most recent install suggests automatic update but I choose "ask first."
    Restart Safari and we seem to be in order
    Thanks

    When you run a RAR Risk Analysis and go to export the resulting reports, RAR automatically exports this into an Excel spreadsheet. Is it possible to export the reports into some other kind of format/tool?  (SQL would be ideal.) We are on GRC 5.3 SP13
