JDeveloper 10g - Connection problems

I have start testing with JDeveloper 10g and made a connection to Oracle Lite 9. The Navigator shows the tables but when clicking on a table it returns with an error [POL-5205] column not found. A test with Mysql behaved about the same, it showed the tables but then only loading...
These both connections works with JDeveloper 9.0.3.

One step forward. When using the MySQL Connector/J driver com.mysql.jdbc.Driver instead of the older org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver it now works with MySql.

  • JDeveloper 10g classpath problem

    The source file has:
    import javax.mail.*;
    import javax.mail.internet.*;
    import javax.activation.*;
    The error on making is
Error(20,1): cannot access directory javax\mail; verify that directory is reachable from classpath and/or sourcepath
    Please what is the answer?
    Thanks.

For anybody that has a similar problem, I have fixed it by going to
    Project/Project Properties/Profiles/Development/Paths/Additional Classpath
    in JDeveloper.
Although JDeveloper will not compile Java classes using the latest release from Sun (5.0), you can surprisingly specify project classpaths to the latest Sun release in the Additional Classpaths and JDeveloper doesn't object.
I put the additional classpaths in my project as:
    C:\Sun\AppServer\lib\j2ee.jar;C:\Sun\AppServer\lib\mail.jar
which is what you would set if you compile from a DOS prompt.
Now it recognises all the javax Mail Internet and Mime classes.
It seems Java is not particularly backward or forward compatible and you have to watch out for things from release to release.
PS If you install JDeveloper 10g and mistakenly point it to the latest Sun Java, it is best to de-install (just delete the complete directory tree) and re-install and point it to an earler version. There is an XML initialization file which holds all the paths, but it is a futile task to try to fix it up retrospectively to point to the right places.

  • JDeveloper 10g video problems with Windows Vista

    Hi,
I'm using JDev 10g 10.1.3.3 over Windows Vista with Aero active. Since I started using Vista, I have always had problems with JDev. First, the fonts in the JDev panels would mess up and the scrolling would not work well. I made some changes in the way JDev uses the JDK, I don't remember exactly what I did, but I think I made the whole JDev environment to use a newer JDK, which is not engouraged/supported by Oracle. Since then, the scrolling problem was solved. But When I run my app, Aero stops working.
Is there a way to make JDev 10g work perfectly with Vista?
(No, I'm not willing to migrate to 11g, for several reasons, so I need to stick to 10g for now).
    Thanks!

  • Can JDeveloper 10g  connects to Oracle8i DB?

DB: Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.4.0
Anyone tried Jdev 10g with Oracle 8I DB? Does it work, are there any issues with the installation?

JDeveloper should be able to connect to the latest Oracle8i release without any issues.

  • Oracle database 10g connectivity problem with Report Builder

    Hi,
I need to amend a .rdf report and am using the dev10g. I can't connect the test database from report builder.
It is getting the error like :
"ORA-12154 : TNS: could not resolve service name".
I can connect the database from sql*plus, Toad etc. Also It's giving me the response when I run the TNSPING command with the database name.
Could someone advise me that how can I resolve this problem?
    Thanks,

set the TNS_ADMIN variable point to the correct tnsnames.ora file
or try the note mentioned in http://www.alexyscorp.com/products.htm
Lastly try opening a command line/dos prompt, set the TNS_ADMIN variablea and start the reports builder from commandline

  • JDeveloper 10g - ODBC (MS-Access) database connection

    Hi!
    I'm a new JDeveloper user.
I can connect to an ODBC (Access) database and I can see tables in Oracle JDeveloper 9i. It's work fine.
I can connect to an ODBC (Access) database but I CAN'T see tables in Oracle JDeveloper 10g(Connections Navigator-tables). It's NOT expanding table items. But when I enter an select sql command in SQL worksheet, it shows me datas in my tables. it's work. How can I resolve this problem?
I've downloaded only JDeveloper 10g Preview zip file at www.oracle.com. Do I need download any program or application/driver ?
    Thanks...

Note that JDeveloper 10g is only a preview release-- i.e. a beta. I'm sure that there are bugs in it at the moment which will be addressed in the final release.

    Both friends
You have to set the ORACLE_SID enviroment variable before getting connection to the database through SQL*Plus so:
    export ORACLE_SID=<database_sid>
    sqlplus /nolog
    conn <user>/<password>
    and that's it

  • Problem in using JDeveloper 10g with JHeadstart

I am using JDeveloper 9.0.3 and jheadstart 9.0.4.5 and I would like to test jdeveloper 10g preview with JHeadstart.
So, I have downloaded the JDeveloper 10g to test it with my old application.
Having run the Jdeveloper for the first time, I realized that Jdeveloper
installed the jheadstart automatically and following message was shown in the message window :

So I try to test one of my old application with this configuration. After Jdeveloper migrated my workspace and projects and business componenet
to the newer version, I run the application generator. It worked fine without any problem but after running the application, I got an error page showing
that my bc4j.xcfg is not in the path.
On the other hand, I found out that when I wanted to view my UIX pages, 2 dialog boxes appeared. The first one asked to upgrade
to UIX 2.2's new expression language syntax and the other which is on the top of the first one, showing that UIX runtime failed to render the page
    with following detail :

I think that I should have set some setting before use JHeadstart with JDeveloper.
    Could anybody help me ?

    Alex,
The document Sandra referred to applies to JDeveloper 10g preview (9.0.5.0). JHeadstart 9.0.4.5 will NOT work with JDeveloper 109 production (9.0.5.1).
We plan to release a new version end of april that is compatible with 9.0.5.1. See this thread for more info: JDeveloper 10g production, status JHeadstart?

  • Problem Adding Custom JSF Components to Oracle JDeveloper 10g (10.1.3) Prev

I'm having a problem on Adding Custom JSF Components to Oracle JDeveloper 10g (10.1.3) Preview (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/101/collateral/101/adffaces/howto_customcomponents.html)
The step 1 of 5 isn't visible for me and I don't see the "Install from local file" option to select the adf-faces-bundle.zip from my file system. The OTN check for updates don't prove the ADF Faces...
    What may I do?

    And...
If "Check for Updates Wizard" is not launched, you can try to set LANG.

  • Can't make a connection from JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.0) to WebLogic 8.1

    I can't make a connection from JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.0.0) to WebLogic 8.1
When I click "Test connection" JDeveloper 10g writes the following:
    Cannot instantiate class: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory
Have somebody ever established a connection from JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.0) to WebLogic 8.1? How to do this?

It connects successfully now. Thank you for the information.
But it does nothing when I try to deploy my J2EE application.
I right-click on Resources -> application.deploy, choose "Deploy to" -> my connection. It starts to do something obscure.
Then I go to the WebLogic console and it shows that there is no my application.
