JDeveloper 10G Preview Feedback

Hi, I've switiched over to 10G Preview. As a constant user of JDeveloper I thought I'd supply some requested feedback on some encountered bugs in this Preview release :
[1] 'New View' Navigator restart : When I create a 'new view' of a project to open up in a new navigator, this navigator is displayed by is empty when JDeveloper 10G is restarted. It only displays a single non-expandable node of the .jpr file.
[2] Sources tree in Projects always default back to 'File List' view on restart. Its irritating that it does not seem to restore to each sources tree view as set when the IDE was exited.
[3] CVS Server in Connection Navigator. Created CVS connection which failed to connect to pserver (which it should of as all as was specified in WinCVS client which works fine.) Can delete CVS connection, but cannot create a new CVS connection (menu option disabled)
Will send more as I encounter. Like the IDE though and look forward to the Prod release.
Richard Bergquist

Some more :
[1] IDE Locks up when Root HTML input path is altered in Project settings while these source files are being editied.
[2] The ability to trim down JDev's footprint via external tools is a great concept. But, why in 10G Preview is there nothing visible in the list. A bug ?

  • Creating secure web apps in JDeveloper 10g preview

    Hi all,
I am trying to set up a secure web application and test it within JDeveloper 10g preview. So far, I am able to set up the correct entries in web.xml and ???-oc4j-app.xml (actually had to add the role mapping manually in the last file). I am able to automotically bring up a login form, enter my username/password and get to the protected resources. What I am not able to do is the following:
    1. Display an error page when the login fails (I get a generic HTTP 403 page instead of the page I specified in web.xml).
    2. Enable SSL. I can set the write checkboxes, etc., but instead of displaying the login form, the browser asks me to open/save the file home.do (the protected resource). I think there is some setup that is messing, but what is it?
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
    Ara

Sorry, I guess I shoud have made it clearer: I am using HTTP-FORM authentication and I have specified a login and error page there. Neither page is protected (i.e., their URI pattern is not specified in the servlet deployment descriptor).
I get the login page fine. I am also able to log in,provided I submit the right username/password. The problem comes when I submit an incorrect name/password. In that case, I get a generic HTTP 403 page instead of the error page I specified.
    Hope this provides more clues.

  • JDeveloper 10g Preview status

    Hi,
I wonder how stable JDeveloper 10g is?
Can it be used for professional project development?
When is the first verion expected to be released?
    Thanks for your answer.
    /Magnus W.

Personally, I don't use JDev 10g yet. I'll wait till the final version is out. In fact, I've only just upgraded from 9.0.3.1 to 9.0.3.3.
Judging from all the posts on this forum (and as can be expected with 'preview' versions) there are still quite a lot of issues to iron out. So, I really wouldn't use the new JDeveloper for anything else than fiddling around.
Someone on the JDev team mentioned that the final version is scheduled for the end of January 2004, if I'm not mistaken.

  • Bug in JDeveloper 10g preview 101.3.0.2.223

    Hi.
    The bug is:
I have an application with a project. in that project I have
a package named web and other named tag on the application resource of the project. so, for some strange reason those package no appear on the application resource. if I change the name of those project they appear successful.
so, someone know why occur this.
    thankz in advantage

    Hi everybody
I'm again Mauricio Viveros and already know what happen.
Into the package wed and tag I had Tags Files .java, which are binding with a .tld file.
So, JDeveloper remove the the Tags Files from application source and move it to as a child node of a .tld file but physical on disk the archives are fine.
so this way you just see the .tld file and immediately you see the class binded with it.
    very useful and nice :).

So I try to test one of my old application with this configuration. After Jdeveloper migrated my workspace and projects and business componenet
to the newer version, I run the application generator. It worked fine without any problem but after running the application, I got an error page showing

On the other hand, I found out that when I wanted to view my UIX pages, 2 dialog boxes appeared. The first one asked to upgrade

    Could anybody help me ?

    Alex,
The document Sandra referred to applies to JDeveloper 10g preview (9.0.5.0). JHeadstart 9.0.4.5 will NOT work with JDeveloper 109 production (9.0.5.1).
We plan to release a new version end of april that is compatible with 9.0.5.1. See this thread for more info: JDeveloper 10g production, status JHeadstart?

  • JDeveloper 10g - ODBC (MS-Access) database connection

    Hi!
    I'm a new JDeveloper user.
I can connect to an ODBC (Access) database and I can see tables in Oracle JDeveloper 9i. It's work fine.
I can connect to an ODBC (Access) database but I CAN'T see tables in Oracle JDeveloper 10g(Connections Navigator-tables). It's NOT expanding table items. But when I enter an select sql command in SQL worksheet, it shows me datas in my tables. it's work. How can I resolve this problem?
I've downloaded only JDeveloper 10g Preview zip file at www.oracle.com. Do I need download any program or application/driver ?
    Thanks...

Note that JDeveloper 10g is only a preview release-- i.e. a beta. I'm sure that there are bugs in it at the moment which will be addressed in the final release.

  • Compile error with Jdev 10g Preview

I am trying out Jdev 10g with JHeadstart. I followed the instruction on the Oracle JHeadstart 10g and Oracle JDeveloper 10g preview document, and then used the isnstructions on the NewJhsProjectInstructions.html document.
    The first time I tried to compile the project, I got a whole list of errors which looked like;
    /usr/oracle/jhs904/jheadstart/src/jhsruntime_source.zip!/oracle/jheadstart/model/bc4j/JhsApplicationModuleImpl.java
Error(143,31): cannot access class oracle.cle.persistence.HandlerNotFoundException; file oracle/cle/persistence/HandlerNotFoundException.class not
This was due to Jdeveloper trying to compile jhsruntime_source.zip. I removed this from the java source path and added jhsruntime.jar.
    I am now getting thisError(22,53): cannot access class oracle.jheadstart.model.bc4j.handler.DataObjectHandlerImpl; file oracle/jheadstart/model/bc4j/handler/DataObjectHandlerImpl.class not found error;
I have checked, and cinfirmed that the class file oracle/jheadstart/model/bc4j/handler/DataObjectHandlerImpl.class is in jhsruntime.jar.
    The Java Source path in Jdeveloper is ;
    /home/chandana/jdevhome/mywork/JHS/src;/usr/oracle/jhs904/jheadstart/lib/jhsruntime.jar.
Can some one tell me what is wrong ?

    Hi Chandana,
You should not put jhsruntime.jar in the Java Source Path. It should be in the Additional Classpath.
The Java Source Path (Project Settings - Common - Input Paths) should only contain /home/chandana/jdevhome/mywork/JHS/src .
If you created the library JhsLibs the way it was described in the JDev 10g document, your project should now compile correctly. The JhsLibs library ensures that your project can compile against jhsruntime.jar (amongst others).
    Hope this helps,

  • HELP! JDeveloper 10g: WrappedDocLiteralStub badly formed class

    hello,
    Using JDeveloper 10g preview, I created a wrapper/skeleton for a webservice.
    I noticed a dependency on:
    import oracle.jdeveloper.webservices.runtime.WrappedDocLiteralStub;
SO, i loacted this class in jdev.jar and extracted the 2 classes that I needed.
I then tried to load these 2 classes into oracle using the loadjava utility.
When trying to do this, I get an ORA-29545: badly formed class error.
does anybody have ANY idea's whats going on?
    pelase help, thanks!

    Hi,
As a first step to solving this, can I ask:
    1. What version of the database are you using
    2. Have you loaded the Client SOAP stack (see http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/java/jsp/loadjars.html )

  • 10g Preview Problems

Hello Everyone, we are hoping for some help in deploying one of the tutorial applications.
Currently we are testing out the JDeveloper 10g preview application. We''ve been able to follow a few of the tutorials, although it seems that at least half have instructions that are only valid for previous versions of JDeveloper. Anyways, the ADF Web Application Tutorial seemed like a very simple example that shows one how to leverage this new technology. Specifically we followed the, "Developing a Web Application Using the Default Technology Scope Tutorial" tutorial. We are able to follow and run this tutorial quite easily using the embedded application server with JDeveloper 10g.
We would like to deploy this very basic application to our application server sitting out on the network. The version of this application server is 9.0.3.0.0 . So, we create a .war file and deploy this to our OC4J instance. When we attempt to goto the customers.jsp page we receive this error:
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError

    at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:479)
    Can anyone help us out?
    Thank you

    Thanks for the info Duncan.
So when different documentation refers to Standalone OC4J that doesn't mean only include installations of the Oracle containers but also installations of the application server itself?
In other words I thought that for development you might install the standalone Oracle containers but for a more production worthy environment you would run the application server suite. I was under the impression that where instructions specify updating/upgrading the standalone those instructions don't always apply to the Application server installation as well.
Do you understand what I'm atttempting to say? I feel that since I'm very new to the J2EE environment my lack of knowledge regarding terminology and architecture is a hinderance. That said I'm not always adequately explaining my situation and or problems.
So, in conclusion, even though we have installed the application server and not the standalone (Oracle Containers) we still need to install the adf runtimes.
    Is this correct?
    Thanks again

  • JDeveloper 10g and BI Beans

How Jdeveloper 10g(preview) is integrated with BI Beans?
What is %JDEV_HOME%/bibeans/lib/bibeans.jar? How to use it? Where I can see sample? Documentation?
Thank You, sorry for bad english.

    Hi,
%JDEV_HOME%/bibeans/lib/ actually is the directory where the bibeans.jar library is located. %JDEV_HOME% is the installation directory of your JDeveloper release.

  • Check out TopLink integration with JDeveloper 10g

I just thought you might want to get a look at the upcoming integration of TopLink and Oracle JDeveloper 10g.
You can download the JDeveloper 10g preview now and play with it.
    See demo: http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/viewlets/905p_adf_toplink/toplinkEditor_viewlet_swf.html

    John,
"1) When I did this last step, it created a new set of 'Offline Database Objects'. It would be nice not to have to redirect the new classes at my original objects or create a new diagram from the new objects. (I would like to bae able to get rid of one set of Database Objects.)"Currently, you are running into the issue since you already have offline tables that you are using to create online tables. You then are creating Java objects from online tables. Each time you create Java Objects from online tables, offline tables are created and cached with the project; the generator is not smart to recognize whether these tables exist offline.
That's a great suggestion and we already have this under consideration for future release. What you are asking is the ability to generate Java Objects from offline tables.
    2) The Database Objects that were created when I generated the classes all have the schema name prepended. My original Database Objects have the 'package' prepended. I would like my Java classes to map to unqualified tablenames.Another great suggestion; we have already taken this into consideration for this release.
Also, can I model sequences for my tables and have those automatically generated along with the tables and constraints? You can always create a SEQUENCE table offline or online (on the database; see connections tab) in Jdeveloper and then use it in the TopLink mapping editor with your data model. Let me know if you need more info on it.
Is there a place I can modify the default datatype to java type mappings? For example, what if I would prefer my classes to be generated with BigDecimal attributes instead of Double? Yet another great suggestion, we will keep it in mind for future release.

    Hello Frank,
Thank you for your suggestion. I tried that and I got the same error. Looked more careful at it:

I tried to execute it manually:
