JDeveloper 3.0 Tutorial Errors

I was trying to follow the tutorial for building an InfoBus application using the IDE and ran into a number of errors. Besides the typos, there appears to be missing text about what needs to be imported.
I managed to get a clean compile, but when the application tried to run I started getting system error messages including
System Error: JBO-25222: Unable to create application module.
System Error: JBO-25222: Unable to create application module.JBO-25002: Definition package1.Package1Module of type ApplicationModule not found

I would appreciate some help or pointers to where there are better explanations of what is happening. Thanks.

I was using an incorrect dbc file. I thought I needed to remove the back slashes from it (I believe in version 9i I had to do that since I'm running on windows, but it isn't required in 10g version).
Finally figured it out and now I can get on with development tasks!

• JDeveloper shows a fatal error when create Database or UML Diagrams

My Platform is Windows 7 x64 with JDeveloper 11.1.2.3
JDeveloper shows an error when I do this:
1) Create a new Database Diagram.
2) Create a Table in this Database Diagram.
3) Delete the Database Diagram.
4) Try to create a new Database Diagram again.
5) JDeveloper shows a Fatal Error, and the ADF Model Project still to be corrupt after restart JDeveloper.
The same happens with UML diagrams.
Do you know any solution for that?
Best Regards,

I found the reason of this error.
This error happens, if you store your ADF Application Project in a Network Drive, if you store your projects in local drives all works fine.

• JDeveloper - problems with Tutorial for Java EE Developers

Hi,
I am trying to start learning Oracle J2EE technologies, and I am using the Oracle "Tutorial for Java EE Developers (10.1.3.1.0)" listed in the Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.3) page: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1013/how_to/index.html.
I am having problems in chapter 2, at the creating EJB 3.0 Persistence Entities stage, when using the Create Entities from Tables Wizard. Basically, when I select all the tables from the SRDEMO schema and attempt to create the Java classes, only the first table objects are created - ExpertiseAreas.java and ExpertiseAreasPK.java. I do not get any error messages, so I am not sure why the other table objects are not created.
If I then use the Wizard to select tables individually, the objects are created. However, they appear to be missing some details - specifically the @OneToMany annotation.
Has anyone encountered this same issue, or are there any known issues with this tutorial.
I am using version 10.1.3.4 of JDeveloper, on a 10g (10.2) XE database. I installed the version of JDeveloper without JDK included. I have a Sun Java EE 5 SDK Udate 5 (JDK 6u7) install of JDK.
Thanks,
Fraser

• JDeveloper "Web Services" tutorial new version needed

Hi everybody,
I'm studying web services now.
I've tried to follow "Publishing, Consuming, Deploying and Testing Web Services" JDeveloper tutorial (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/tutorials/9050/mvcmodel_webservices_tut.html), but I've failed. Tutorial seems to be too old. I've got problems with generating web service and so on... This "End2End" web service demo (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/viewlets/10g/WS_End2End_Demo_viewlet_swf.html) is too old as well...
Are there any more web service tutorials (preferrably online) for JDeveloper 10.1.3 except "building simple application"?

I tried to follow "Building a JAX-RPC Web Service" (http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1013jdev/unitedloan/unitedloan.html#p) tutorial, but I've got problems with steps 2,3,4.
Step 2 output: "Could not canonicalize 'P?↕' (The filename, directory name, or volume label synt
ax is incorrect). From system property java.library.path.
Enter an admin password to use:"
I enter password "welcome" as it is said in tutorial, but then step 3 causes problems.
Step 3 output: "Could not canonicalize 'P?↕' (The filename, directory name, or volume label synt
ax is incorrect). From system property java.library.path.

Step 4 fails because "test connection" fails.

• Web Services Tutorial - Error instantiating web-application

Hi all -
I've been trying to follow the "Create a Web Service from a Java Class" tutorial in the JDeveloper help and I'm running into problems accessing the web-service. After starting the embedded OC4J server, I try to access the target URL and get the following error message:
Error instantiating web-application
Error compiling :C:\jdev\jdev\mywork\Application2\Project1\public_html: Syntax error in source or compilation failed in: C:\jdev\jdev\system\oracle.j2ee.10.1.3.40.66\embedded-oc4j\application-deployments\current-workspace-app\Application2-Project1-webapp\project1\runtime\MyWebService1_Service_SerializerRegistry12.java
The thing is, I've actually tried the steps on a separate computer and it worked perfectly. But it seems like I have something misconfigured on this system which is giving me problems. Does anyone have any suggestions for my problem?
Thanks

I never did solve the problem. I decided to try out GeoServer for WFS and am very impressed. It was much easier to install and pretty feature-filled as well with a lot of documentation. I would definitely suggest checking it out to see if it will fit your needs.

• JDeveloper Setup & CreditFlow Tutorial?

I suspect this is a JDeveloper setup issue, but I have the BPEL Manager connection set under connections|Application Server in JDeveloper.
I'm running 10.1.3.3.0 JDeveloper and the BPEL Manager. I'm trying to get through the CreditFlow tutorial and I'm encountering a problem in setting up the Partner Link. I have added the Invoke process and the Partner Link. I can double click on the Partner Link which brings up the Edit Partner Link dialog. However, when I click on the flash light to select the WSDL service or file I get the Service Explorer dialog. I'm guessing that is just a different name from the one the tutorial identifies.
The first level of the service tree is:
- Adapter Services
- Registered ESB Services
- BPEL Services
- Local Registry
- UDDI Registry
- Projects WSDL Files
When I attempt to open Adapter Services, Registered ESB Services, BPEL Services, or UDDI Registry I get an error saying it can't open the connection. I think the issue here is why it can't open the connection for the BPEL services when it has a connection to the BPEL Manager defined. When I open the local registry I get a list of services like the eBay Price watcher, but none of the services loaded into the BPEL manager.
This is with the BPEL Manager running, and I can see and run the services. I ran the CreditRatingService (the one that is required for the tutorial) from the manager, and it is working fine.
If I open up the the server under the left panel's Connections tab and then open up Application Server I do not find and of the deployed BPEL services. There are many other Web Modules listed there. I would have thought they would have been listed under the "Application Server|{server}|standalone|Applications|default" node. They are not.
Any ideas on what is wrong would be very appreciated.

After reading the help on the Partner Link Editor it appeared that I needed to add an Integration Server entry on the Connection Tab. I added one using the wizard to the same BPEL Manager OC4J server - this was basically the default that came up in the wizard. However, when I test the server in the wizard I get:
1. Success for the Application Server
2. BPEL Process Manager Server: FAILED
Reason: BPEL Identity Service: java.net.ConnectException:Connection refused: connect
3. ESB Server: FAILED
Reason: ESB Connection: ESB Server connection could not be established.
Connection refused: connect
It appears to me that there is something wrong with regard to authentication of the oc4jadmin user on the BPEL manager.
Do you have a suggestion on where to look?

• Problem with End to End JHeadstart Tutorial ( Error: No XMLProvider found )

Good day,
When executing the step-by-step tutorial as listed at:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/consulting/9iServices/jheadstart.html
, I am following the "End to End JHeadstart Tutorial" ( http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/jhstutorial/index.html ):
I am getting an error "Error: No XMLProvider found" for C:\MyDemo\ViewController\public_html\WEB-INF\page\Employees5Table.uix at step 1d when I try to run the application at point 1d of the tutorial.
The particular file Employees5Table.uix has been generated in step 1c by doing a Run JHeadstart Application Generator for the ' Application Structure File' .
Can anybody provide me more information?
Regards,
Mike

Problem solved by using release 1!
I was using JDeveloper 10.1.2.1.0.1913 (JDeveloper 10.1.2 release 2, build 1913) instead of system10.1.2.0.0.1811 (JDeveloper 10.1.2 release 1, build 1811).
When I did it againg with the release 1 version, build 1811 the problem did not occure. The JHeadstart version was the same.
Looks like a bug to me in in release 2.

• "Running Oracle Spatial Web Services" tutorial error

Hi,
I am currently working on setting up the WFS service with OC4J. I completed the initial tutorial to set it up and everything went well. I am now trying to run the WFS demos from WSCLIENT and using this tutorial: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/11gr1_db/datamgmt/spatialws/spatialws.htm.
I just focused on the WFS Relational features and did the following:
Ran @wfsrelmd.sql and users/tables/grants were all successful.
Ran compileAndRunClient.bat runwfsct and the feature was created successfully.
Ran compileAndRunClient.bat runwfsrel and received the following error in the OC4J server shell:

I have no idea where this error is coming from and would really appreciate any help if any of these errors indicate a problem someone may know of.
Thanks for your help!

I never did solve the problem. I decided to try out GeoServer for WFS and am very impressed. It was much easier to install and pretty feature-filled as well with a lot of documentation. I would definitely suggest checking it out to see if it will fit your needs.

• JDeveloper IDE: Developer Mode Error

Hi All,
I am facing an issue after launcing JDEV through /jdevbin/NT/1223_db2dbg_17007206 (JDeveloper IDE for Release 12.2.3 Dev Build 2).
I am getting developer mode error after launcing my application. For the error to perish, we need to disable the same by :
Go Project Properties -> Oracle Applications -> Run Options and remove OADeveloperMode from the selected list.
However the OADeveloperMode option is not visible at project properties. Any idea on how to disable the option through any other means or any workarounds.
The profile “FND:Developer Mode” is already set to No in site level in environment. I am still seeing the Developer Mode error in jdev.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Arpita

Hi Shobit,
Error message :

This error part of the file (oracle.apps.ozf.oa.claim.webui.ClaimUpdateCO) present in the error message is an already existing code.
Now the problem with solving this issues may end up solving many other issues. I am also not sure that my solving one part will fix it or not.
If you can please help me with suppressing the option how we used to do that earlier via jdev, then I can move ahead with my changes and test them.
Thanks,
Arpita

• JDeveloper to BPA Suite Error

Hi there,
when I try to save my model to the bpa server in JDeveloper I get the following error: (Update BPMN Model checked)
java.lang.Exception: script ModelImport.js, line 141: Jdeveloper proposed model available in Oracle Business Process Architect, please accept or reject the proposed model. (ModelImport.js#141)

Although the BPA Suite notifcates me that the IT updated the process, there are no improvement proposals.
Has anybody had the same error? Is there a solution or workaround?
Thanks,
Stefan

Have you teested teh IIOP connectivity with the session shell
(sess_sh)? Make sure that this works. The Connection URL will
look like:
sess_iiop://machine_ip_address:port:SID
If you are going through the listener (and the listener must be
configured to listen for IIOP) or like this:
sess_iiop://machine_ip_address:port
If you are going directly to the MTS Dispatcher port. You can see
what this port is by using the following command:
LSNRCTL services
See which port the presentation
oracle.aurora.server.SGiopServer
is on and use that port number. You do not use a SID when
connecting directly to the MTS dispatcher port since an MTS
dispatcher is specific to a given instance.

• PLEASE, HELP! Tutorial error

Hello.
I am teacher of a Java course and I wanted to teach my students JDO. I tried
Kodo because of its transparence persistence.
But I'm not able to run the tutorial. I am using Windows 98 SE and JDK
1.4.0. I tried Kodo 2.3.1 and 2.3.2. I follow the right steps:
1) I set JDODIR and JDKHOME at jdocommand.bat.
2) I run jdocommand.bat (the CLASSPATH seems OK)
3) I get into \tutorial directory
4) I compile the tutorial classes with javac *.java. (No problem).
5) I run "jdoc tutorial.jdo". The following error appears:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException:
org.xml.sax.SAXEx
ception: file:/C:/kodo-jdo-2.3.1/tutorial/Animal.java:
org.xml.sax.SAXParseExcep

I have made no change to the tutorila files. I am getting mad trying to get
information about how to fix this error but I have not found anything.
I am desperate and I am thinking about forgetting JDO and Kodo. This makes
me unhappy because I think it's an interesting issue for my students.
Could someone help me? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,

OK. I have it.
I have to delete all .java files (and even the solutions directory) from the
\tutorial directory and everything works well.
I don't know why this deletion was not included in the tutorial
documentation :-(
Thank you for your interest,

• Tutorial Error: Model binding context not initialized

While examining the new JHeadstart Tutorial I got the following error when I try to start the application:
Model binding context not initialized
What does it mean?

It could be a missing ADFBindingFilter in web.xml. What you can do, is try to re-enable JHeadstart on the project. This will overwrite the web.xml file. You can do that by right-clicking the ViewController project in the Navigator, and choosing Re-enable JHeadstart on this Project.
