JDeveloper and BPEL Designer - You dont mean this serious...

Quality of software seems as alpha release maybe but definitely nowhere near stable...
Problems we are experiencing are slowing our development totally comparing to any other IDEs available.
We are using version 10.1.3.3.0.
I ll mention few:
Every completion editor takes ages to load.
In some editor there isnt even basic clipboard operations available.
Expression editor is some kind of bad joke, isnt it? Even if i move window it revalidates everything, it seems it virtually reloads every schema what takes tens of seconds and making work with it totally impossible.
Validations in some editors aint even working OK, when u enter valid xpath expression with whitespaces editor resoves it as invalid.
You delete file and it remains in filesystem and after u recreate same transformation file no matter what target and source of transformation you choose it will just load old deleted file...
These problems are just peak of iceberg.
Please tell me theres kind of magic button i forgot to press what will resolve these problems...
Im very unsatisfied and cursing on Oracle everydaily, sadly I cant choose another product since customer choosed.
Best Regards,
Mathew Stafurik

Hi Mathew,
cursing and ranting in a very unspecific way doesn't help you nor gives us a chance to help you.
Indeed the BPEL Designer in JDeveloper is very in certain situations, esp. when you have very complex XSD with lots of imports in your project.
Some tips to improve performance:-
- Have 2GB RAM at minimum
- Run it on Linux
- Split you work in as many as possible projects
- Don't include XSD, because you might need them in the future.
We're looking forward to your detailed problem descriptions to help solve one by one to make you more productive.

  • Jdeveloper and bpel designer

    whats the lowest version of jdeveloper for using bpel designer ?
    i understand that jdev 10.1.3 will not have bpel designer for sometime .. does that mean - we need to retain jdev 10.1.2 for bpel designer 10.1.2 or is there a plugin for bpel 10.1.2 for jdev1 10.1.3 ?
    Thank you for your responce
    jasi

    BPEL PM has JDev plug-ins that correspond to the same release number for BPEL. So, with 10.1.2.0.0, a BPEL plug-in is available for the same JDev release. Likewise for 10.1.2.0.2.
    BPEL PM 10.1.3 will provide the first JDev 10.1.3 plug-in. That release is expected to have an Oracle internal preview build in the next week or two. Contact your Oracle representative if you want access to that. We expect a public Beta in the April timeframe.
    And if you wnat to see some of the new features that are coming, you may want to register for the "BPEL 10.1.3 Preview" feature preview webinar at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/bpel/htdocs/webinars.html.
    In the near-term, you will need to have both JDev 10.1.2 for BPEL development and 10.1.3 for Web services publishing and general development.

  • JDeveloper 10G (BPEL Designer): how to create db connection to Oracle Lite

    I want to create a JDeveloper database connection to the Oracle Lite database installed with JDeveloper 10G BPEL Designer, but haven't been able to find any info on the subject.
    Can anyone point me to some info or walk me through it?
    Regards

    To connect JDeveloper 10g to an Oracle Lite database, you will need to follow this setup.
    1. Create an ODBC entry for the Oracle Lite database. If you have installed Oracle Lite 10g Mobile Development Kit, you should have a copy of POLITE.ODB pre-installed. Check your ODBC.ini, or run Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC), and follow the polite entry pattern. If you create a new Oracle Lite database, you must create a matching enrty in the ODBC configuration file.
    2. In JDeveloper, create a new connection for your Oracle Lite database.
    The Connection Name should match your entry in ODBC for ease of reading.
    The Connection Type should be Oracle Lite.
    The Username is system.
    The Password is xxx.
    The Deploy Password box is checked.
    The Datasource Name must match the ODBC entry exactly.
    Leave the rest of the fields as is.
    Test your new connection.
    Enjoy.

    You need to have xlsm where you can access the macro in numbers.  this is frustrating that the idea of Numbers is to make it like Excel yet you dont have this capability.  Question is, when will it happen or will it happen????

    Hi brev,
    Several points here:
    1. Although there is some compatibility between Numbers and Excel files, I doubt very much that "the idea of Numbers is to make it like Excel." The two applications share some similarities, but also have several differences.
    2. Your Question is unanswerable in this forum. Apple does not generally reveal future development plans or schedules for its applications, and anyone with knowledge of those plans will be bound by a non-disclosure agreement.
    3. "You need to" implies a feature request. If you want to request that a feature be added to a future version of Numbers, that request is better made directly to Apple, via the Feedback channel, than here, where the readers and responders are all users of the software, not developers. From the application menu (the "Numbers" menu in Numbers), choose Provide Numbers Feedback, then make your request for a feature to be added to Numbers.
    Meantime, if you absolutely need the macros capabilities of MS Excel, try one of the Office clones—OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice, or NeoOffice, which may offer macro support, or use the Mac version of Excel itself.

    Barry

  • Does jdeveloper provide BPEL designer and integrations ?

    Hi
    Thank you for reading my post
    does Jdeveloper provide BPEL integration?
    if it has , where i can find tutorials and articles for it
    if not , is there any plan to integrate bpel designer into jdev ?
    thanks

    I also need this feature
    i want to migrate to Jdeveloper from netbeans enterprise edition
    I would be very good if Jdeveloper people post a road map about integrating BPEL / Portlet development into jdeveloper.
    In this way we (developers) whom use Jdeveloper or consider migration to jdeveloper are in dark.
    Please Post a roadMap or time table that shows when we can develop Portlet and BPEL from within Jdeveloper.
    Thanks

  • No option to create new workspace in JDeveloper; turning BPEL Designer "on"

    I'm trying to do some BPEL work on Linux, using JDeveloper Studio 10.1.3.4.
    A couple of issues:
    1) although the BPEL Designer shows up as a component in the "About", and BPEL Process Modeler shows up as a loaded extension in the same place, BPEL Process Project is a grayed-out option in New Projects. This may simply be due to the fact that BPEL Designer apparently needs to be turned "on", and I've yet to figure out how to do that on Linux (since the documentation is mostly for Windows).
    So if this problem is solved by turning the JDeveloper BPEL Designer "on", I sure wouldn't mind knowing how to do it on Linux. It's easy enough to start the BPEL Process Manager - I have that running right now - but I see no shell script anywhere in the SOA Suite installation that remotely looks like it might start BPEL Designer.
    2) Many of the tutorials say that one should create a workspace in JDeveloper. According to them this is available as an option under File > New. Well, in Linux JDeveloper Studio 10.1.3.4 it's not available at all. It doesn't even exist as a disabled option. I find this curious, and somewhat disturbing.
    Any ideas as to why something so central doesn't show up?
    Regards,
    Arved

    OK, good to know, John. Eventually a person figures it out one way or the other. I realize all of this stuff exists in documentation someplace, but there's only so many hours in the day. And if you're using JDeveloper 10.1.3, with JDeveloper 11 already available, you don't necessarily expect a lot of the articles you run across to be so old that they still refer to workspaces. I'm not saying that these are necessarily Oracle articles.
    As an aside I've found Oracle documentation to be pretty good. I use Oracle software on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. For ESB and BPEL on Linux the main problem with the docs is that they are incomplete. It's disconcerting to see continual references to having to turn BPEL Designer on, in Windows, and have no instructions concerning that for Linux, as one example. As it happens, doing a "startall" for opmnctl does everything I need, so if there's a separate BPEL Designer started up by that (as opposed to the BPEL Process Manager) I guess that's where it gets fired up. That may also be covered in documentation someplace, for Linux, but I haven't found it.

  • Jdeveloper ESB BPEL Design

    Hi,
    Situation:
    An external system sends a request to the ESB that I am going to create. This ESB transforms the incoming request to a different format and then sends the transformed request to the BPEL (need to create). The BPEL invokes an external system
    My Question is "How do I start with this?".
    I have input XSD and output XSD. I am having hard time figurings out which service to create first (ESB or BPEL?). If I start with BPEL (synchronous) I need an input wsdl (from ESB) which I did not create it yet. If I start with ESB I need an target wsdl (for BPEL).
    Can some please advice me on this. Your response is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    dod

  • Can you help with this serious error message?

    I have Premiere Elements 8.  I tried to open some .prel that I have made and now I get this error message:   Projects created with Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Premiere Elements are not compatible.  Please use the appropriate application to open this project.  What gives??  Also, as usual, Premiere Elements 8 crashes after I have accomplished one lousy thing, so I have to constantly open project and save.  Now I can't even open a project.
    Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Holy cow! Something is seriously wrong here, lilthea!
    What model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is it?
    What project settings did you select when you set up your project? (You can see them under Edit/Project Settings.)
    Version 8 was not the best version of the program ever produced. In fact, it was one of the worst, when first released. But if you downloaded the update (from Help/Check for Updates) and the rest of your system is stable, you should at least be able to edit video from a miniDV, HDV or even AVCHD camcorder.
    If you truly can't do ANYTHING without it crashing though, there's something much, much deeper going on that a bug in your program or its set-up. (This is why I need you to be as specific as you can about things!) If things are really that unstable, it could indicate malware or viruses or possible corruption of the operating system.
    I sometimes recommend a program that I use every week but that some people object to because it's Chinese software and has been accused of stealing virus definitions from other software companies. But it's got an easy interface. Just select Deep Care, click the go button and then select the option to clean. In my opinion, it makes your operating system as good as new. But there are some people who disagree, so that's my personal recommendation only.
    Download the free version from here:
    http://www.iobit.com/advancedsystemcareper.html
    What you're dealing with could be problems with your source video -- since I don't have enough information to say either way. But, assuming your video came from a miniDV, HDV or AVCHD camcorder and that you've properly set up your project to those specs, a tune-up using Advanced System Care might be worth considering.

  • Query regarding composite.xml and bpel

    Hi,
    I am absolutely new to SOA.Last day, I was experimenting with BPEL processes.I dragged a BPEL process(TestBPEL) onto the SOA composite and exposed it as a SOAP service.Now the component(testbpel_client_ep) that is being shown in the left swimlane wired to the BPEL process, what is that?I mean is that a service itself.Again in the .componentType file, I saw a service was defined but the name of the service defined was testbpel_client.But I didn't define any other service,so where did that service come from?Again in the composite source I saw the follwing code was generated:-
    <service name="testbpel_client_ep" ui:wsdlLocation="TestBPEL.wsdl">
    <interface.wsdl interface="http://xmlns.oracle.com/PatientDataService_jws/Test/TestBPEL#wsdl.interface(TestBPEL)"/>
    <binding.ws port="http://xmlns.oracle.com/PatientDataService_jws/Test/TestBPEL#wsdl.endpoint(testbpel_client_ep/TestBPEL_pt)"/>
    </service>
    I guess it defines the service testbpel_client_ep.But what are the implications of the <interface.wsdl/> and <binding.ws/> tags?In the .componentType file also, the service testbpel_client had the same <interface.wsdl/> tag.
    <service name="testbpel_client" ui:wsdlLocation="TestBPEL.wsdl">
    <interface.wsdl interface="http://xmlns.oracle.com/PatientDataService_jws/Test/TestBPEL#wsdl.interface(TestBPEL)"/>
    </service>
    It also intrigues me that both the services(testbpel_client and testbpel_client_ep ) refer to the same wsdl file.I have no clue what is happening.
    Thanks in advnce

    Now the component(testbpel_client_ep) that is being shown in the left swimlane wired to the BPEL process, what is that?I mean is that a service itselfYes. If you check the generate soap service checkbox when defining the BPEL it will generate the service and wiring as you have seen.
    Again in the .componentType file, I saw a service was defined but the name of the service defined was testbpel_client.But I didn't define any other service,so where did >that service come from?testbpel_client should be the partner link name for the service. If you open the bpel designer you should see this partner link on the left swim lane. And if you check the wire's in the composite source, you will see that the wire target is testbpel/testbpel_client. Partner Links are by which services and references are referred within the bpel designer.
    what are the implications of the <interface.wsdl/> and <binding.ws/> tags?interface.wsdl specifies the wsdl porttype of the interface exposed by bpel.
    bindings.ws specifies the wsdl port and soap:location for the bpel. You are not seeing the location part here as this is a service definition and soa runtime will automatically populate this depending upon your deployed environment. This section is more relevant for 'References' coz this is the place you have to modify the endpoint URL's of services you have to invoke.

  • Jdeveloper 10.1.3 with BPEL designer

    I downloaded Jdeveloper 10.1.3. But this version of Jdev doesn't include BPEL designer. I wonder how I can I make BPEL designer included in Jdeveloper 10.1.3.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I observed that JDeveloper 10.1.3 does not come with BPEL, you need to download updates again in order include BPEL projects. Instead download JDeveloper 10.1.3.1 Developer Preview which includes BPEL projects and libraries.
    You can get this on OTN. Hope that helps.

  • Does any one use the SPIGEN iphone case? if so, can you tell me the difference between the ultra fit, ultra fit a, ultra fit s, and ultra hybrid? also does this case get in the way of the camera flash? i ask because the camera opening seems so small.

    also if you dont recommend this case please point in the direction of the best slim fit case

    The Ultra Fit A has a cutout on back to display the Apple logo. The Ultra Fit and Ultra Fit S do not. And the Ultra Fit and Ultra Fit A are a soft matte finish all over, while the Ultra Fit S has a brushed finish in its midsection.
    The Ultra Hybrid is a bumper, with back protection. (1) It's made of TPU (for anti-shock) vs. the all polycarbonate (for anti-slip) Ultra Fit/A/S.
    (2) It also has power and volume buttons overlaying Apple's, which the Ultra Fits do not. (3) Lastly, it covers all four sides, whereas the Ultra Fits cover the left and right sides and wrap around the four corners, leaving the top and bottom exposed (which is good if you want to connect some models of headphones or adapters that require more space there).
    They're all properly designed for the 5/5S flash, including the black around that cutout (you don't want to buy a case that doesn't have a black rim there).
    IMO Spigen's slim cases are better made/more durable than other third-party cases (of which I've bought aplenty). I love mine!

  • BPEL designer issues

    Hi,
    I facing following problems while designing BPEL process using Oracle JDeveloper 10g BPEL Designer :
    1> While editing XPath exp through query builder in activities (e.g assign, switch) it takes a lot of time which is actually irritating.
    2>Sometimes the design through bpel designer is not saved back in the .bpel file even after it shows that file is saved. And once i close the JDeveloper i loose my design because it opens the old bpel file in design mode.
    If any one is having workaround for this or if this problem is resolved in some latest version of Oracle JDeveloper BPEL Designer then pls tell me.
