JDeveloper and Eclipse interfacing through Subversion

WE have a project on Eclipse. We are using Subversion for source version control. Now I've downloaded JDeveloper 11g and would like to bring the project in it. It means some will use Eclipse whereas I want to use JDeveloper and the central repository is on SVN. Is it possible? If so...please let me know how.
Thanks
Rashed

Hi Rashed and Steve,
I would suggest a slight alternative to Steve. I would create an application and project in JDEV and check all the code out to it. Then I would add the application and project 'container' files (the .jws and .jpr) to the SVN repository.
This ensures that the context menu options at the application or project level are enabled.
I blogged about this a while age: http://susanduncan.blogspot.com/2007/11/at-what-level-should-i-version-my.html
Also, in JDeveloper 11g Subversion is shipped as part of JDeveloper, whereas in 10g it was an extension as Steve pointed out

Can JDeveloper of JAVA interface with Oracle interMidia to develop Not very complecated and GUI image storage and retrival application?

The previous Context Cartridge is now called interMedia-Text and

  • Remote and local interface on same ejb 3.0 bean instance

    Hi,
Is it posible to get remote and local interface on same ejb 3.0 bean instance.
For example get local interface of a bean and than pass it as remote to client.
Both interfaces must operate on same bean instance.
    Thanks
    Zlaja

yes. You can implement multiple interfaces on a single class, so you can add a local and a remote interface. One trick to avoid duplicate code is to simply make the remote interface extend the local interface; then you only have to add the @Remote annotation and you're done.
For example get local interface of a bean and than pass it as remote to client. You don't pass an instances to a client, a client looks up a remote instance of the bean through JNDI.

  • 10g BPEL process upgrade to 11g hangs in Jdeveloper and Ant script

I have successfully upgraded several 10g (10.1.3.4) BPEL processes and ESB services using Jdeveloper 11g (11.1.1.6.0) migration wizard and deployed them to an 11g environment. Both 10g and 11g environments are up and running.
However, my 11g jdeveloper hangs when migrating the next BPEL process. It hangs at the message box with the title: "Migration Status". I tried the Ant script and it hangs too. It hangs after printing out:
    "CompositeRefs
[upgrade] WARNING: UPGBPEL-02009: No Binding setup for : "soapCheckPrivileges"
. This will cause compilation of the upgraded project to fail. Check SOA Upgrade
documentation on manual steps necessary to bind this composite reference. If ne
cessary, upgrade and deploy any dependencies. If planning to retain 1013x nodes
in this projects dependency tree, check earlier part of this log for 1013x WSDL
    URLs that can be used."
I guess it makes sense since Jdeveloper and Ant script use the same code base for migration.
One other observation is that if I kill the hanging jdeveloper process and reopen it and go through the migration wizard again, it will be successful without hanging. However, when I fix all the wsdl reference and do a build and deploy to sar. The resulting sar is defective and cannot be deployed to Weblogic even if both build and deploy to sar report success. The defective sar contains only scac.log and scac-log.xml, not even composite.xml.
One difference between this BPEL process and others I have successfully upgraded is that it depends on an ESB service (this esb service has been upgraded and deployed to 11g).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

I will answer my question. I killed the migrating Java process and the migrating wizard will report failure of migrating the .jpr file. Actually, the only thing missing in the migrated .jpr file is deployment profile which I can generate from deployment menu. And I can deploy the migrated process. This works as a workaround.

  • How to do inbound and outbound interfacing using UTL_FILE?

    dear members,
How can we do interfacing from a legacy system to oracle and vice versa using the UTL_FILE package. I mean how to do an INBOUND and OUTBOUND interfacing using utl_file.
    regards
    sandeep

    Hi Sandeep,
I do not know if I got your question correct.
Here is my understanding of it, pls correct me if I am wrong:
You want to read from and write to the OS from inside the DB? Right?
There are differnt waysa to do so, depanding on your Oracle version:
    1. you can use the initialization parameter UTL_FILE_DIR to specify a directory on OS where you can read from and write to through the package UTL_FILE.
    2. You can use a directory object in the DB to manage read write access to the OS. This is also usable with the package UTL_FILE as location where to read from and write to.
    => CREATE DIRECTORY my_dir AS '/home/oracle/my_directory';
    GRANT read , write ON DIRECTORY my_dir TO scott;
    SELECT * FROM dba_directories;
You need CREATE ANY DIRECTORY system privilege for this.
You can use directory objects also for external tables.
With these you can read from flat files in teh directory on OS with a select statement as if it were a table inside the DB.
Does this go into the direction you were thinking of?
Hope it helps for the first.

    Lutz

  • Interface through XI or P2P - How to decide?

We are in the process of implementing XI for a client.
The client currently has about 600 point to point interfaces connecting more than 200 applications to SAP (and to each other).
We are in the process of routing these point-to-point interfaces through XI.
    My concern is:
Is there a strategy or guideline to decide which of the existing interfaces should be moved through XI and which of these should continue as point-to-point?
I need inputs from the technical angle as well as the business perspective.
In case I need to pose this question in a business forum too...comments on this will be welcome.
    Thanks in advance,
    Prasad Kamath

    Hey Prasad,
To address few of the  queries,
    Firstly with cost.
In this case as there are more number of legacy applicaiton and i would assume there is huge amount data being transfered btw legacy and sap the cost involved including licesnse will be on the higher side.
Time lines again depending upon the complexity varies.
If the organization has already implemented sap and want to consolidate upon it in a long term then XI is the best way out. P2P might be the current solution but the complexity of managing such interfaces in a lng term tends to get tedious and higher on the maintenance as you don't have certralized monitoring of such interfaces.
Most important is to have a understanding where sap currently sits in the organizaton in terms of strategy and commitment of the leadership in pushing the drive to leverage on it. At the end of the day now focus has moved from cost ot business benfits.
You cannot avoid BPM in this case.
The customer has some set SLAs which they intend to achieve with XI...for example an end-to-end JCO call takes less than 1 second in the current landscape.....whether we can achieve this from XI...

  • Jheadstart, JDeveloper and CVS and TeamWork

    Hi
We're four-developer team and we've been working with Jheadstart for some months. Now we want to work with team options that provide jdeveloper (CVS or SCM). But, we are a too much suprised with all the problems that other developers had with CVS, we read it in some jdeveloper forums (JDeveloper and CVS and TeamWork and JDeveloper and CVS
I get very worry about the problems that developers had with CVS and that at last they don't find a better solution than migrate to jdeveloper 10.1.3. All the forums recomend migrate to jdeveloper 10.1.3 for better support of team work, but I read (some time ago) that jdeveloper 10.1.3 still doesn't support ADF, then I assume we cannot use it with Jheadstart, Am I right? Is there a way to use Jheadstart with JDeveloper 10.1.3 Preview right now?
What do you recomend for team work with Jheadstart?
    Thanks in advance
    Liceth

    Liceth,
As you problably know, the JHeadstart team consists of consultants and we face the exact same problems and share the exact same frustrations as you do on an every day basis at our customer projects. It is indeed not easy to use JDeveloper in a multi-developer environment. In all fairness much of this is a given when doing file-based development, and I have seen the exact same problems in situations where other IDE's such as Eclipse etc were used. But using advanced frameworks like ADF and BC4J makes matters more complex, because the declarative way of developing these applications using drag&drop and powerful wizards make you as a developer be less 'in touch' with the file or files that are actually created and updated, and also there tend to be more files in such an architecture that are changed simultaneously by many developers at once.
Merging is the only way out of this mess, and merge tools are not perfect, far from it. They get better and better but at some point you'll need to understand the semantics of the files that are to be merged to be able to merge them correctly, and merge tools will in all likelyhood never become that smart.
Until they do, the only thing one can do is to tackle the problem from the other side: if merge tools dont understand the files they merge, we should take into account the weaknesses of these merge tools, and set up our files so that changes CAN be automatically merged, or in most cases at least. Indeed, JDeveloper 10.1.3 is taking good steps in this direction for notoriously tricky files such as JPR files and such. But the problem will never completely go away.
As for using 10.1.3, well, as you said the preview does not contain ADF so JHeadstart will never run on it. We are developing JHeadstart 10.1.3 that will run on the production version of JDeveloper 10.1.3, but it will be a long time before that release will see the light. And although JDeveloper 10.1.3 is a kick-ass IDE (imho), it will not magically solve all multi-user issues. It will just be a bit more bearable.
Is there ever a real solution for it? I don't know. I have worked intensively with the Oracle Designer product before I switched to Java, and that tool, which uses a database rather than files to store its information, was almost perfect when dealing with multi-user development. It could do so because the level at which conflicts occur is VERY finegrained (so not at 'code line' level but sometimes as far as 'individual properties in a property inspector' level), plus the advantages of instantaneous locking in the database when modifying something. And, thinking of it, it could do so because it dealt with 'structured objects' rather than files, thereby having some 'semantic' information about the data. I have this feeling we can only 'get it right' if we will treat, for instance, a Java file not as a collection of lines of code, but of a structured object tree with members, constructors, methods, parameters etc. etc., and store it as such, instead of storing it as a flat OS file.
Just ranting here (this really should be a personal BLOG entry rather than a forum post, but oh well). As you can tell, its a subject that is very close to every developer's heart.
    Kind regards,
    Peter Ebell

  • How to pass data to XI interface through a particular QUEUE ID

    hi,
i need to pass data to XI through a particular QUEUEID if any body has sample ABAP code for it pls post...........
    its very urgent tx....
    shiva.

    Hi Shiva,
Are you talking about queue prioritization?
To be able to have your interface pass through a particular queue name, you have to first register your queues in sxmb_adm.  You can check that in the "manage queues'.  Then you configure the sender and receiver service/system and the interface in the configuration "configure filter for queue prioritization".

  • Why hasn't Adobe navigation and user interface design improved as much as it could have over time?

I haven't tried CS6. I'm sure it's great based on what i've seen alone. But as a user of adobe products for a number of years, i have to noticed there are still a lot of stagnant, awkward, stiff, irriating, slowing down elements found in the navigation and user interface on cs3-cs5, that i'm sure could have been eliminated or improved on at least from 2005 or 2007 onwards. I find some of these things inexcusable and unprogressive from bad traits that defined 1980's and 1990's general computer navigation and so on.
CS5.5 has lessned this a bid bit and is more fluid in bits and pieces but for those using cs3-cs5 and in general, i find some things just horrid. As a graphic designer no one is supposed to admit the flaws or irrations of these programs. We must hail them as god, never critisize, and always adjust to new things which i think is a bit fascististic and silly
The way the tools, options are laid out can be improved to be quicker, and easier to find and use. Using your voice as a commanding system would be helpful as well.
A lot of cmds are too complex to remember, they can be simplier or resemble the name of the tool or option. Its makes a chore to follow this system and competition for the smart *** who memormized all the cmds.
The way in which you loose floating side boxes, and the amount of tools or names hidden in the bars sometimes seem random and its always a constant search to find them incase you forget where they are.
The inability to open cs4 or 5 files in cs3 is just beyond extremly annoying. Whey shouldn't you be able to open cs1 or 2 files or photoshop 9 files  as well? Every five years work expires as well?
The layering system gets tricky and seems that a lot of things don't work when you normally move things. Its about going back, remembering and clicking on this or that, looking it up to make everything work. Sometimes which leaves you in a rut and wastes a good amount of time. You will always find this even after you've been using it for years.
The use of the fill paint/airbrushing, clone tool, lasso tool, pen tool, history being two steps back can be vastly improved to be much better to use
Masking and tools that have more complex features should find a way be automatically done or sampled. They can also have less complex steps and tha ability to be  previewed,  automatic or simpler  ( in case you can't remember how to do something or aren't getting it)
A lot of the special effects, and blending modes are useless, outdated, super-ugly and don't resemble  true darkroom effects ( such as polarization, and bas-relief for example)  which they could much more vividly done. There also could be more options that are closer to repro cameras/CTP software for halftoning and more complex digital effects.
Having to press or get used to pressing muliple keys or clicks for the most basic things simultaneously can be reduced to be easier
Adjusting text, new documents, photos should have a smoother, quicker navigational experince where things a lot of room to be , clicked back, re-done, saved in the wrong place etc..
Indesign could use more shapes, include more features that illustrator has, and possibly even photoshop to save time.
There should be a way to remind you of features, complex things you've forgotten, other than history and daily usage/practice of the programs
The help should resemble more of "visual -learners" guide books with voice features.
    There are a lot more
    Regarding other things:
I think the price encorages more piracy and allows people to not have a concept of what is means to owning software.
The loss of a manual or lessening of them for certain programs is a loss because it's always useful to  physical info you can flip through while looking at your program.
I think adobe should make entirely better products for professionals or people in the industry rather than spoonfeeding the same software to all.
They should also make less expensive add-ons like before for graphic software.
What do you adobe could have improved over time and if so what do you think they could have improved on?

You have this wishform to suggest improvements to Adobe products:

  • JDeveloper and Designer 6i Repository

I don't understand the reasoning behind the need to install Designer 6i in order to use JDeveloper in a 6i repository. If the repository you're using is remote (on a server vs local PC), and you won't be doing any work using Designer, why should you need to take up the space on your PC to install it?

As John correctly states, various things you might need to do as a developer (create workareas, create / merge branches) are only currently possible through the RON. In addition, we invoke other tools such as the Dependency Manager which are part of the Repository client install.
However, you don't have to install the whole of Designer. This is a bit confusing since Designer and Repository are still packaged together in the same installer and Repository is still not being properly marketed as a fully separate product (which it is). Early on during installation of "Designer", you will be prompted whether you want to install the whole of Designer or just Repository. For SCM in JDeveloper to work, you only need the Repository client side.
We're working on making the integration between JDeveloper and Repository tighter in a future release so that it is no longer necessary to install Repository client side.

However when I try to start the scheduler agent using

    it gives me error
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Login failed for user odimaster
Now if i remove the sql related things from the odiparams i.e remove these statements
    ODI_SECU_DRIVER=com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    ODI_SECU_URL=jdbc:sqlserver://<hostno>:1433
After removing these statements, the scheduler agent works fine.
I want to start the scheduler agent for SQL SERVER interfaces as well. Please let me know if you have any pointers for the same.
    Thanks,
    Pritika

    Hi ,
ODI_SECU_DRIVER and ODI_SECU_URL is related to ODI master repository .
You can have single master repository only which in turn can have multiple work repository .
So odiparams.sh file can have only 1 entry for ODI_SECU_DRIVER and ODI_SECU_URL.
You define your source and target data server information in Topology which will be stored in ODI repository .
You don't have to specify the data server information in odiparams.sh .
Regarding "whereas with these statements in odiparams.sh,Im able to execute the SQL Server interfaces using an agent"
agent will not look into odiparams.sh file for repository parameters .. that is why it is working .
But agentscheduler looks for repository parameters in odiparams.sh .. and your odiparams.sh file is not correct .. that is why it is failing .
    Thanks,

  • Cisco 4402 WLC IOS Upgradation using CLI and Web Interface

    Hi,
I would like to know how to upgrade IOS of Cisco 4402 WireLess LAN Controller using CLI and Web interface ?
Can any one help me regarding the same.
Please answer as soon as possible.
    Thanks in advance.

Here are the instructions for upgrading the controllers via GUI:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn52.html#wp472449
    Instructions via cli:
Cisco recommends that a direct CLI console port connection is used to update the controller software.
    1. Make sure a TFTP server is available for the Operating System (OS) software download. Also, keep these guidelines in mind when the TFTP server is set up:
If a download is performed through the service port, the TFTP server must be on the same subnet as the service port because the service port is not routable.
If a download is performed through the Distribution System (DS) network port, the TFTP server can be on the same or a different subnet because the DS port is routable.
The TFTP server cannot run on the same computer as the Cisco Wireless Control System (WCS) because WCS and the TFTP server use the same communication port.
    2. Download the desired OS software update file from the Cisco website to the default directory on the TFTP server.
    3. Log into the WLC CLI.
    4. Issue the ping server-ip-address command to verify that the WLC can contact the TFTP server.
    5. Issue the transfer download start command and answer n when prompted to view the current download settings.
This example shows the command output:

  • JDeveloper and CVS

    Hi All,
Just for anybody getting started with JDeveloper and CVS. I've been using both during a while and my comments are:
-- If you are thinking to replace your old CVS System, you really must think about it, JDeveloper just incorporates a little subset of features any CVS System actually has (like eclipse).
-- If somebody have been working with the same code your are using, to know if the code have changed isn't as simple like to make a "check for changes or compare with". Because if you use "JDeveloper Compare With option", JDeveloper check correctly for changes, but for changes over your own last revision, so if somebody create a new revision, you will loose your changes.
well I think JDeveloper creators must make a lot of effort to incorporate CVS functionality, if not, better remove this option from it.
    anybody has any comments???

I need to try to understand why you would want to erase a version controlled file in your sandbox from disk but not remove it from version control. I guess we do this automatically because it seems like the right thing to do... it should be noted that this is also the default behavior in Eclipse.
If you remove a file from your sandbox but do not schedule it for removal from CVS, you could basically make changes in your sandbox that will cause other developers to run into compilation errors after you commit and they update.
E.g. SomeClass.java depends on a class defined in AnotherClass.java. You remove SomeClass.java from disk but not from the sandbox. You then rename a method in AnotherClass.java that SomeClass.java had been using. You compile your project, it all seems fine. You commit your changes to the cvs repository. Then your collegue updates and the world is broken.
It seems like a bad way to work. I'd be interested to know what the usecase is for doing this and whether there is perhaps a better way of achieving it (e.g. using working sets or the project content filters).
I'm aware of the issues with the files you mention. They're not really issues with the CVS support as such, they're issues with the parts of the product which generate those files. I know that probably doesn't make much difference to you, but it is relevant in terms of how (quickly) things get fixed.
The xml mergeability of several IDE files (in particular projects) improved greatly in JDeveloper 10.1.3 preview. I've tried very hard to raise awareness in the teams that develop those other features (ADF and Struts) about issues they have with version control. It's sometimes hard to convince people that there's really a problem for some reason. I'm hoping things will eventually improve. You can help that a lot by reporting such issues to your Oracle Support representative so that your specific problems are being tracked as TARs.
    Thanks,
    Brian
