Jdeveloper applications on Linux

- is it possible?
I know Java applications can run on Linux and I hope that it is
possible to run JDeveloper apps on Linux. Any experiences?
Also: Does JDeveloper 3.0 run under Wine?

Yes, it's possible.
I use WinNT and Linux.
I make application by Jdeveloper 2.0 under WinNT and successful
rut it on Linux (SuSE 6.2). Also I use Apache+JServ and so I run
jservlet developed under JDev2.0.
You need all requered to application jar and zip files from
jdeveloper 2.0 in your CLASSPATH.
Can be any troubles to install jservlet under Apache but it
resolve easy. All depend from your configuration Apache.

  • Using Notes and Oracle Client in the same application on Linux crashes

This thread is copied from a thread of the same name under Database - General, since I cannot get any replies there.
Could someone from Oracle PLEASE comment on this.
Our application on Linux loads the Notes client libraries and then the Oracle client libraries. The application will crashes when connectimg to an Oracle server. This is because the T_* symbols in libnnz11.so get fixed up into libnotes.so rather than locally into libnnz11.so where the functions are defined.

We have circumvented the problem for the time being by making sure that we load the Oracle libraries before Notes, but we cannot go with that as a long term solution.
In my opinion the Oracle library is wrongly linked since all the T_* functions are defined in libnnz11.so. When we load Oracle first, the loader debug trace shows the correct fixups. When we load Notes first, the loader trace shows the incorrect fixups. We are using dlopen(libor9i.so, RTLD_LOCAL) for Oracle and dlopen(libnotes.so, RTLD_LOCAL) for Notes. libor9i.so has a dependency on libclntsh.so.10.1.
An opinion would really be appreciated.

    Thanks again.
We don't have an Oracle support contract because we do not use Oracle ourselves. We supply an application that synchronises data between multiple data servers and server types, of which Oracle is one and Notes is another, as well as LDAP servers and many other types.
Producing a full resolved binary is therefore not an option since the types of data server are configured when the apploication is installed, and then the client software for each server is loaded as required.
The end user of the application supplies the client libraries and has a support contract for the servers, in particular Oracle and Notes in this case. So the other option is for the end user to raise a ticket using his support contract, but he is reluctant to do that since he considers that this is our problem as we supply the application that is having the problem. So we are in a dead water area. We do not want to take out a support contract just to get what is an Oracle product problem resolved. I imagine that this problem is something that has not been encountered before, because our use of the client library in conjunction with other client libraries is probably unusual.
So that is why I am hoping, without any success so far, that someone from Oracle will pick this up.

  • Getting GTK error while running javaFX application on linux

The Sample JavaFX applications available at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javafx/downloads/devpreview-1429449.html work great on Linux. But when I run my application, I got this error:

  • Actual Cost of JDeveloper applications

Does anyone have a breakout of the real cost of JDeveloper applications.
We currently have in house Oracle Fin. and BIC. I was looking to create some applications with JDeveloper. Right now I am given the impression that J2EE development is too expensive to support. If we use Oracle Fin, BIC and JDeveloper would our costs be less because we are allready paying for Oracle Fin and BIC?
Any help would be appreciated - as soon as possible.
    Thanks

I'm not an expert on what is included in the Oracle Apps installation you have.
They might contain a Java EE server - but it also depends on your licensing of the applications - cause that server might only be licensed to run Oracle Apps specifically and you might not have a license to run other applications on it.
If that is the case then you'll need to license an Oracle Application Server too - the version of which depends on the version of JDeveloper you want to use.
I think your best bet is to contact your Oracle account team and ask - they'll be able to break down the licensing costs for you based on what you have or not.

  • Error messages in JDeveloper applications

    Hi,
I'm an JDeveloper newcomer and I have following problem:
if in my JDeveloper application oracle.jbo exceptions are thrown
the error text is displayed in english. How can I get the error text
    in another language(for example german)?

Werner - you can read about this in the online help.
Bring up the help and in the index type ERROR - you will then see an option "Returning a Localised error message".
This will give you the info you need.

  • Providing XML Editing functionality in JDeveloper Application

    Hi Members,
    Can anyone help me.
I’m developing a JDeveloper application and need to provide some means of editing XML files within my application UI.
Is it possible to integrate the XML editor that is used in the JDeveloper IDE as a UI component?, That would be an ideal solution.
Alternately if anyone could recommend a good alternative solution, I’d be grateful.
    Many Thanks

  • Uninstall air application on linux (ubuntu)

Hi, maybe this is a stupid question, but I can't figure out
how to uninstall an air application on linux.
    Can you help me?

You can uninstall an installed AIR application (on all
operating system) by double-clicking the .air file used to install
it. The AIR application installer includes an option for
    uninstalling an installed application.
On Linux, you can also use a package manager (such as
Synaptec Package Manager) to remove installed applications.

You are certainly welcome to try.  We have not tested this environment in anyway and you may face difficulties with Adobe Creative applications that require heavy use of the CPU.  I also would be surprised if Acrobat could be installed in this environment due to it's dependencies to system resources.

  • How do i install labview application on linux?

    Hello,
I have a small application that i built using Labview 7.1 for windows. I have been using this application on windows xp.
All the application does is, get an array of numbers from a file, calculate the min, max and average, and display the result in a simple 2D graph.
Now i'm in the process of switching OS from xp to Redhat Linux. Would i be able to use this same application in Linux without any modification? if so, how do i install the application on Linux? if not possible, what changes do i need to make to get it work on Linux?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks.

The platform indepedence is in the way the LV code is represented. You can open a VI you wrote in LV on windows in LV for Linux or Mac and it will work. The compiler embedded in the development environment turns the VI into platform-specific executable code in the same way that a C compiler would. The problem is that actual executable code is not transferable between OSes because they simply won't know how to execute it, just as it wouldn't work with a C built application.
If you don't want to buy LV for Linux you can try running a Windows emulator (like WINE) which might allow you to run your windows executable. Another option is to try contacting NI. They might decide to let you change your license from Windows to Linux. You should also consider that platform specific functions (like ActiveX) are not supported and that certain toolkits were only written for windows.
Try to take over the world!

  • Best CD/DVD Burning Application For Linux?

What's the best lightweight burning application for Linux? I'm trying to avoid Brasero and K3B.

I'm currently using k3b its great as is Brasero, I would go so far as to say both are commercial quality applications. I've used growisofs for dvds which is a command line app, extremely light weight: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/DVD_writing I have not used Nero Linux before though it was my favorite program on windows.
This recorder application sounds very interested, looking forward to trying this one out when I get home tonight.
