JDK during Oracle 9.2.0.1 install on AIX

Does anyone know why the Oracle installer for 9.2.0.1 AIX 5L requires specification of a '1.3.1' JDK.
Doesn't Oracle installer use and install its own JDK?
Does this field need to be entered with something legitimate? I have JDK 1.3.0 installed and I do not want to have another JDK installed if I can help it.
I do not plan on running any other Java apps on this AIX machine.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

最后看到一个中文帖子中的回复,心就凉了。一比较文件大小,发现是以前下载oracle 9i时下载错了 。1、Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard Edition for AIX 对应4.3.3
2、Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard Edition for AIX-Based 5L systems 对应5.X以上版本
比较一下文件名和文件的大小,我查了一下OTN上面的你看看,
Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard Edition for AIX - Based 4.3.3 Systems (64-bit)
server_9201_AIX64_Disk1.cpio.gz (523,877,469 bytes)
server_9201_AIX64_Disk2.cpio.gz (629,437,482 bytes)
server_9201_AIX64_Disk3.cpio.gz (620,877,880 bytes)
server_9201_AIX64_Disk4.cpio.gz (221,321,393 bytes)
Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard Edition for AIX- Based 5L Systems
server_9201_AIX5L_Disk1.cpio.gz (516,923,899 bytes)
server_9201_AIX5L_Disk2.cpio.gz (644,157,620 bytes)
server_9201_AIX5L_Disk3.cpio.gz (618,906,723 bytes)
server_9201_AIX5L_Disk4.cpio.gz (176,610,584 bytes)
I found it on a chinese forum.but it dosn't solve this prob.
i uninstall vsd,then pass the rootpre.sh check.
but still cannot make and link.what shall i do then?

    Hello...
               I am working as a SAP BASIS trainee.I am facing some problem related with java and SAP System.
    Actually an SAP System was already  running on the my system and suddenly i required to work on eclips (an IDE for java). And to install eclips it required JDK 1.6 version.But as we know that for SAP System an JDK 1.4 version required only.
                   I forgot and deinstalled JDK 1.4 and Installed JDK 1.6. and again tryied to installed eclips bt it was still throwing an error that it required JDK 1.6 and currently JDK 1.4 is running.
      On the other hand SAP System was getting problem during SAP START (  dialog queue waiting time elapsed .......). and finally not working.
       I deinstalled JDK 1.6.  now SAP System is working fine. It is getting started and everything is right.
    Could i get any problem latter regarding to SAP Start??and why i cant use eclips on the same system??
    Thanks in advance.
    Uttam Kumar.

    > Could i get any problem latter regarding to SAP Start??and why i cant use eclips on the same system??
    You need to make sure that the SAP system uses the correct JDK. You can install two JDKs in parallel (don't upgrade but install the 1.6 JDK in a separate directory).
    Anyway, NWDI should not be installed on the server but on a local workstation.

    8i hasn't been supported in years. I haven't seen NT in quite a while, I'm pretty sure Microsoft desupported that a while ago. Are you really trying to install a desupported version of Oracle on a desupported version of Windows?

  • Creating Logical Volume during Oracle VM installation

    Hello,
    I am trying to install Oracle VM Server on a machine with 2 TB hard-disk. There are 2 disks each with 1 TB capacity.
    During Oracle VM Server 2.2.2 installation, if you go with default partitions, layout looks like this
    /dev/sda
       sda1          101M  ext3        /boot
       sda2       952737M  ocfs2       /OVS
       sda3         1027M  swap
    /dev/sdb
       sdb1         3074M  ext3        /
       Free space 950792M  Free SpaceIdeally I would like to give everything except what is needed by */ (root), /boot* and swap to */OVS*.
    So from the layout above, I also want to give Free Space to */OVS*.
    This excerpt talks about Logical Volume Creation during Oracle VM installation.
    During the Oracle VM Server installation, press Alt+F2 to use the terminal, and run the lvm command. When you have finished creating the LVM configuration, press Alt+F1 to return to the Oracle VM Server installation.
    But I couldn't figure out how to do this? Can anyone give me exact steps to achieve what I am trying to achieve.

    You need to run the i586 installer on a 32-bit machine. It won't work on a 64-bit machine.
    If you want to install on a 64-bit machine then you need the 64-bit installer.

  • W2k8 is 32-bit,which oracle 10g version should be installed?

    Hi everyone,
    I am a new DBA. Now I will install Oracle 10g on w2k8. I found w2k8 is 32-bit system, i am wandering which oracle 10g version I should install?
    Thanks!

    Go to http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/index.html
    Note that Windows 2008 explicitly is listed against 11.1.0.7
    Therefore, you can assume that 11.1.0.7 is the first that definitely supports W2008.
    And you can assume that anything older than that line is definitely not supported.
    And if it is not supported (as is the case for 10g), you can assume that you will run into some kind of problem either during installation or (worse) at some unknown time later.
    You can probably find some workaround to make it appear to work. Which is fine ... it's your job. (At least until it stops working.)

  • Install Oracle 8.1.7 (64 bit) on AIX 5L

    Hi all,
    I'm installing Oracle 8.1.7 (64 bit) on IBM AIX 5L and everything goes fine while copying files, but there are problems in the relinking phase. I've installed the 32 bit version and it works, so the problem seems to be with the 64 bit version.
    Can anybody tell me if Oracle 8.1.7 (64 bit) cannot be installed on AIX 5L?
    Thanks in advance.

    Are u booting the kernel in 64 bit mode?
    Installation guide has the following note:
    NOTE: As of 25-Oct-2001, the only version of Oracle8i certified for use on AIX 5.1 is 32-bit 8.1.7, which requires that the AIX 5.1 system is booted in 32-bit kernel mode. Booting the AIX 5.1 system in 64-bit kernel mode will not work with either 32-bit or 64-bit 8.1.7.
    hope this helps

  • How to determine which of the Oracle security products have been installed

    Hello!
    I would like to determine whether or not the Oracle security products have been installed for an Oracle database.
    The Oracle security products are:
    * Oracle Database Vault
    * Oracle Audit Vault
    * Oracle Configuration Management
    * Oracle Total Recall
    * Oracle Advanced Security
    * Oracle Data Masking
    * Oracle Label Security
    * Oracle Secure Backup
    * Oracle Database Firewall
    So what I thought is to look at the "DBA_REGISTRY" table which displays information about the components loaded into the database.
    But on the other hand there also is the "V$OPTION" view which lists database options and features.
    Does anybody know, how I could correctly determine whether or not each of the product is installed?
    I guess for "Oracle Database Vault" I should query V$OPTION, but what should I do with the other ones? And in case DBA_REGISTRY would be the right table, how would the comp_ids look like for the products?
    SELECT 'Oracle Database Vault' , nvl( (SELECT VALUE FROM V$OPTION WHERE PARAMETER = 'Oracle Database Vault'),'FALSE') FROM sys.dual
    OR
    SELECT 'Oracle Database Vault' , nvl2( (SELECT 'valueFound' FROM DBA_REGISTRY WHERE comp_id = '??????' AND status NOT IN ('INVALID', 'REMOVING' , 'REMOVED')),'TRUE','FALSE') FROM sys.dual
    Thanks in advance

  • Oracle 9i Web Services Quickstart Install TCP tunneling problem

    When I try to run the OTNGUIDGenerator example using the TCP Tunneling portion of the Oracle 9i Web Services Quickstart
    Install I get this in the From localhost8900 tunnel window:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <SOAP-ENV:Body>
    <ns1:getGUID xmlns:ns1="oracle.otn.ws.emarket.OTNGUIDGenerator" SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/">
    </ns1:getGUID>
    </SOAP-ENV:Body>
    </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
    I get this in the From 127.0.0.1:8888 window:
    HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found
    Date: Mon, 28 Oct 2002 20:38:06 GMT
    Server: Oracle9iAS (9.0.2.0.0) Containers for J2EE
    Content-Length: 171
    Connection: Close
    Content-Type: text/html
    <HTML><HEAD><TITLE>404 Not Found</TITLE></HEAD><BODY><H1>404 Not Found</H1>Resource /j2ee-web/oracle.otn.ws.emarket.OTNGUIDGenerator not found on this server</BODY></HTML>
    This is my webservices stub
    public class OTNGUIDGeneratorStub
    /** public String endpoint = "http://otn.oracle.com/ws/oracle.otn.ws.emarket.OTNGUIDGenerator"; */
    public String endpoint = "http://127.0.0.1:8900/j2ee-web/oracle.otn.ws.emarket.OTNGUIDGenerator";
    private OracleSOAPHTTPConnection m_httpConnection = null;
    public OTNGUIDGeneratorStub()
    System.setProperty("oracle.soap.transport.noHTTPClient", "true");
    m_httpConnection = new OracleSOAPHTTPConnection();
    Properties props = new Properties();
    /** props.put(OracleSOAPHTTPConnection.PROXY_AUTH_TYPE, "basic");
    props.put(OracleSOAPHTTPConnection.PROXY_HOST, "proxy.scott.af.mil");
    props.put(OracleSOAPHTTPConnection.PROXY_PORT, "375");
    props.put(OracleSOAPHTTPConnection.PROXY_USERNAME, "fowlerji");
    props.put(OracleSOAPHTTPConnection.PROXY_PASSWORD, "F1234567*g"); */
    m_httpConnection.setProperties(props);
    Not sure what to call the server - this works okay when I'm not using tunneling and using our proxy server??

    I think your problem is that you have a proxy user/password and the TCP Monitor (both the command line and built-in 9.0.3 version) do not support that - they only support specification of the proxy server itself :-(
    It is a feature request that I hope will make it into the late spring/early summer release of JDeveloper - I wrote it up as a request based on the number of folks who faced this issue with these tutorials.
