Jiniator requires reinstallation

Is there a known problem with using multiple application servers and jiniator ?
While we just had the one box everything seemed to be working ok. Now we have two servers it seems that jinitiator is becoming corrupted. IE disappears immediately after starting the app. This only happens to one of version of the application on a specific application server. The other one is fine. We have also noticed that double clicking the jinitiator icon in control panel does not display the dialogue box. After re-installing jinitiator everything works again. Any ideas ?

"you must have your users to be administrator or power users" - this is not true
"use domestic version of jinitiator 1.3.1.22" - Not an option
"renamed this file symcjit.dll to symcjit.old" - Do we change the file on the server ? <ora AS home>\jre\1.1.8\bin\symcjit.dll or on the client C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.1.8\bin ?

  • Does an upgrade require reinstallation of software

I want to upgrade from OS X 10.5.8 to something newer, but I don't think I can locate the MS Office software installed on the computer.  Does an upgrade require re-installing the software?

What has Office software to do with the question you asked? In your case the best thing to do is erase the drive before installing Snow Leopard. Check all your software to be sure you can upgrade it if necessary. Do not upgrade until you know all your important software will work or can be upgraded to work.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks/Yosemite - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Yosemite
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later

See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • Does OSX suffer gradually slowdown and require reinstallation like XP?

I was at a computer club meeting yesterday and there was one discussion about how Windows XP creates many files that over a relatvely short time significantly degrade the system's performance. One person there, something of a Windows expert, said yes it is a problem and that the only way to deal with it is to reformat the hard drive and reinstall Windows and everything else. He said it probably needs to be done once or twice a year. That was subsequently confirmed to me by others.
So my question is: Does MacOSX suffer from the same problem?
    12" PowerBook G4 1.5GHz G4, 1.25GB   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

All operating systems have similar problems because all operating systems do similar things. OS X does help to alleviate some of these problems. For example, OS X automatically defrags files on the fly (under 20 MBs.) Unless you have a disk full of very large files there's no need to defragment the hard drive.
Have plenty of RAM installed (the more the better) and always maintain an adequate amount of free space on the hard drive: 6-8 GBs or 15 percent of the drive's capacity whichever is greater.
OS X has several built-in maintenance scripts that run on daily, weekly, and monthly schedules that clean out log files, temp files, and cache files as well as rebuilds the lookup database. These scripts run in the early AM, but only if your compute is left on 24/7 (no sleep or shutdown.) If this is not the case you can install a shareware utility that automates the process completely. It's called Macaroni (www.versiontracker.com.)
For occasional maintenance and cleanup you can use one of several available utilities. I highly recommend the shareware utility TinkerTool System (www.versiontracker.com.)
Before installing any system updates or software always repair your hard drive and permissions first. Never update system software until the hard drive has been verified as OK. I also suggest booting into safe mode before installing system software or updates.
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance and optimization and backup and restore. Maintaining a bootable backup can greatly simplify recovery if something goes awry.
Under normal circumstances there should be no need to reinstall OS X. I maintain six different computers all running OS X. None have ever required erasing the hard drive and reinstalling.

  • Adobe Reader X:Recurring issues with print and save requiring reinstalls

One of our staff has recurring issues with PDF print, view, save.  These issue are temporarily resolved by re-installing the Reader from the Adobe website.  No error messages are displayed - the functions just cease to work.  In the most recent iteration of the issue a document attached to an email could be saved (right mouse click, save as) within the email program but not within the Reader itself.
It appears that Reader is getting corrupted - but by what?  This individual does a lot of downloading of web published PDFs - a possible source but one I can't confirm.
Information on a permanent resolution or known cause would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks v much Twilight - once I had posted the question I saw the same issues were posted by another.
I'll try the print as image under the advanced print tab and see how I get on with that. Hopefully Adobe will bring out a fix soon.
    Thanks again.

  • K8T Neo F1S2R No Longer Boots - Help Diagnosing

    Hello,
I've had good service from my K8T Neo Athlon 64 mobo for 2 years. Today when I turned on the PC, all the fans cranked up and nothing more. The four test LEDs stayed red. No beeps, no display to the monitor. The light on one CD drive (I have 2) and the HD light come on solid at power up. According to the manual, four red LEDs at power up indicates a bad processor or processor connection and nothing more.
I removed my Audigy sound card since I know it has been known to cause boot-up problems on these boards. Still no boot.
What I need to know is if this is most likely a bad processor as stated in the manual, or something else like a bad mobo or power supply (Enermax). I don't have a spare processor, 64 bit PC, nor power supply to swap and check, so I need to know what is the best step process to resolving the problem. I'd just hate to go out and buy a new processor to find out the problem isn't the processor.
    Thanks!
    Buddy

UPDATE: Kudos to MSI support! I RMAed my original failed, over 2 year old K8T NEO via the MSI online support system. Shipped the K8T back to MSI on 4/11 and received a replacement on 4/26. It took only 11 business days, east coast to west coast and back.
I was having stability issues with the new K8MM-V motherboard described here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=95656.0
in that I was unable to run my Radeon 9800 Pro at "full" hardware acceleration without crashes. I could only get stability using the onboard graphics or setting the Radeon 9800 to "low" hardware acceleration (the setting next to "none").
Pulled out the K8MM-V and installed the warranty replacement K8T NEO. The replacement K8T booted flawless, only requiring reinstallation of the Radeon 9800 Pro's Omega drivers on the first boot. I've had flawless performance with hardware graphics acceleration set at "full" with no reboots or blackouts since.
It was easy as pie to execute warranty service with MSI.
A big thank you to MSI for their fine support and for providing this forum....and a just as big thank you to all the fine folks here for offerering their expertise and help to us novices.

  • Windows 2008 server OS authenticated user keeps failing

I have a new server that has windows 2008 server installed, 64-bit. I've installed oracle 11gR2 64-bit and have created my database. Now I need to create two oracle accounts that are OS authenticated and I can't seem to get this right. I've set os_authent_prefix in my spfile and I've created the user (example) OS$<domain>\<username> in the database. In Windows, the account name equals <username> and that account belongs to Administrators and ora_dba groups. I've tried creating the oracle user with <domain> in caps and lowercase, but both fail. On the server, the domain is all lower case.
So in SQL> create user "OS$my.domain.mil\user1" identified externally; (user created)
    Grant connect to "OS$my.domain.mil\user1";
Log out of sqlplus, pull up command prompt in Windows 2008 server as 'user1' and type in "sqlplus /"
    Invalid username or password.
What am I missing here? Any help appreciated.
SA feedback: "Finally, Windows Server 2008 R2 Operating System has a tighter security scheme than that of previous Windows OS.
Also, it would be helpful if I remove the AD domain controller role from this server. This may require reinstallation of this server (worst case). Let me know when I can do this so you can proceed with your configuration."

    Hello Ricardo,
You may want to reference SAP Note 1054740 - SAP System Installation on Windows Server 2008
and ensure you are on SAP Netweaver 7.0 SR3 or above, and it will also tell you if the product you are installing is supported in Windows 2008 Server.
For database and SAP product combinations that are already
supported by SAP to run on Windows Server 2008, see the Product
    Availability Matrix at: http://service.sap.com/pam
Also check the following: in Regedit.
    SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\gpsvc
Right click on it and select "Permissions" in the context menu.
    Provide "Full Control" for sidadm
Does the installation user has full administrative rights and belongs
to the group of LocalAdministrators and to Global Administrators also
when you are doing a domain installation ?
Please ensure the user <sid>adm has the access rights
to change the file system permission.

  • Start Up Disk and iMac

    Hi Experts,
I bought iMac in Nov '12 & it did not come with a start up disk.
If for a question, my hard disk crashes & requires a new start up disk or requires reinstallation of the Lion OS - how do I do this?
    Thanks

Actually, the "start up disk" is the hard drive. The iMac does not come with an installation disk. Instead, you can hold down cmd-R when you reboot to use the Recovery partition:

  • Acrobat 9 questions

Before I upgrade to version 9 I would like answers to a few questions.
Have there been any installation problems with an OS of Windows XP SP3?
Are there any specific installation instructions to installing this software? Such as uninstall version 7 or 6 before installing.
Is there any detailed instructions on how to install it?
    Specifically about version 9 Standard.
Can you take a static PDF form and turn it a fillable form?
    I have versions 6 and 7 Standard.
Is upgrading to version 9 worth it?

With regard to upgrading to Acrobat 9, please be aware that the foundation to Adobe's mode of development and customer service personifies the word arrogance.
Our company purchased multiple copies of the upgrade version of Acrobat 9 and after numerous attempts to install it on multiple machines, each has been unsuccessful. We receive an Error 1606 each time.
Calls to Adobe support have resulted in our being told that the problem lies with Microsoft Office and requires reinstallation of the entire Office suite which can then be followed by the installation of Acrobat 9.
This is completely reversed logic -- Acrobat is built to work with Office, not the other way around. Or so we thought. And if Acrobat 8 was successfully installed and working just fine, what has occurred in Acrobat 9 that breaks the partnership between the two products?
What if the cause were the inability to work with a file in Windows? Using their logic, the OS would have to be reinstalled. That simply makes no sense.
The vast majority of businesses today use Microsoft Office and Acrobat is used by most in conjunction with it, to quickly and easily turn Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files into PDF files. The inability to install an upgrade of Acrobat due to a previous installation of Office is just wrong on so very many levels.
If you're developing a product to operate properly with a another company's product, you need to develop your product so that it does.
The result has been the creation of a completely dissatisfied Adobe customer with the all of the Upgrades being shipped back as quickly as we can put them in an envelop.

  • Elements 8 cra$he$

Photoshop 8 elements has been a bear ever since I bought it a couple years ago.  the editor will not open most times, it says it has encountered a fatal error and the computer needs to be restarted.
i'm using Windows XP, with 1 gig of memory on a 1.5 GHz Dell laptop.
Usually I can get Elements 8 editor to work by removing it from the computer, and then doing a fresh install.  But, it's a pain.
I used elements 5 for years on this and other computers with no problems, but Costco had a deal on Elements 8 a couple years back and I thought 8 would be an upgrade.  Besides changing ways a lot of functions are invoked, I didn't see anything great about the new and "improved" version except that it cra$hed frequently, and required reinstallation.  A very neat "great new improvement.".
Should I purchase a new legit copy of elements 5.0 and forget about "the new and iproved" Elements 8?  I won't even try Elements 10.x, after the disastrous results of 8.0.
    Ideas are cordially invited.
    Hank Greeb

You have 1Gb of RAM, which is not enough for adequate performance and functionality, especially when you're still running XP.
You can no longer buy earlier versions of PSE.

  • Problems with Chinese characters

I have a client experiencing 3 distinct problems with their Chinese-localized Fm files:
The SimSun TTF font used in the source Fm files is "uninstalling" itself. This requires reinstallation of the font on a regular basis (every few days).
The colons used in index markers in the Fm source files are not being parsed as Level1IX, Level2IX, etc. in the RoboHelp project. Instead, they are recognized as colons. In other words, the first level marker in Rh is XXXXXXXX:XXXXXXX:XXXXXXX. The same is true for the semicolons.
The conversion settings for the Chinese project do not allow for mapping to individual CSS elements and classes. This means that all of the formatting is controlled via the supplemental CSS generated from the FrameMaker formatting. IOW, the formatting all uses the class="FM_ definitions.
Has anyone had success working with Chinese characters in a FrameMaker to RoboHelp workflow (either linking or importing)?
Anyone else seen any of these issues in Chinese or any other fonts?
I'm thinking the first two issues are likely due to the TrueType font used, but can't find an Adobe OTF SimSans font to use as a replacement.
However, the lack of mapping capability in the conversion process is a stumper...perhaps due to the double-byte font itself.
Any thoughts or solutions are greatly appreciated by my client (whose deadline passed yesterday!)
    -Matt

I dont think you can print chinese chars at the console on window
to print the character codes to the console use someting like that
    char [] chars = request.getParameter("whatever").toCharArray()
    for(each chars){
    System.out.println((int)chars);
then check if you got the corresponding chinese char

  • Illustrator CS5.1 crashes when changing fonts

Hoping someone can please help!! Every time I try to change fonts in Illustrator CS5.1, without fail it crashes. I'm on a macbook pro with retina display, OSX 10.9.4 and I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling the program and downloading the Adobe patches but my computer won't accept them. I've tried deleting the Illustrator preferences as well but nothing seems to work. PLEASE HELP?!!

    dezine,
In serious cases requiring reinstallation, you should also use the Cleaner Tool, see 6) below.
But it may be something with fonts/font caches, see  Items 1) and 11) in the link in 5) below; these may be the most probable causes.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Quicken 07 remains after Archive and Install?

Will the Quicken 07 application AND all my accounts remain after doing Archive and Install? I mean, will they be up and ready to use or need to be located in a folder and re-installed?

On an "Archive and Install", you have the option to save user data and network settings. This will copy all your user data into the home directory on the new install, and make the install process as seamless as possible. Applications are copied over as well, I believe, but if they're not they are left in the "Previous System" folder and you can copy them over manually and test them out. I believe "Quicken" is one of those applications where you just drag it to the applications folder to install it. As such, it should migrate to the new system easily and be up and running without the need to reinstall it. Most apps that require reinstalls are those that put extensions and plug-ins into the system folder (Adobe CS3, for example). Some things to keep in mind:
Corrupt preference files can cause applications to run funny or not at all. If an app doesnt behave normally then remove the preference file for that application from your user library. Corrupt preference files can happen during an install, so its good to be aware of the possibility they might crop up.
In a similar manner as corrupt preference files, sometimes the install process can change the permissions on files and folders, which will result in the same funky behavior. Using Disk utility to fix permissions BEFORE and AFTER the install will greatly reduce the probability of this being an issue.

  • Problem running java

Hi, I am new to java and to this forum so I hope my questio is posted in a right place.
    Ok, here goes.....
When I run a program in JCreator things work fine but sometimes when I need to run it from command line it gives me errors:
    "main" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 0
    at XXXX.main(Book.java:6)
    or sometimes:
    "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: XXXX
Some have advised to reinstall everything but it has not helped.
    Any ideas?

When I run a program in JCreator things work fine but sometimes when I need to run it from command line it gives me errors:
    "main" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 0
at XXXX.main(Book.java:6)You are probably attempting to use the String[] args parameter in main. From the command line, you must pass some arguments in to use them.
    example:
java XXXX.main blahwhere blah is the argument
"main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: XXXXif in the example above, XXXX is a package, it is not possible to run it. Read up on classpath.
Some have advised to reinstall everything but it has not helped. Not all software requires constant reinstallation. This is a bad habit learned from windows, where it usually does require reinstallation. In this case, it is most definately a case of user error (hey - you're learning, don't get me wrong).

  • IBook G3 refuses to launch applications

    Hello!
I recently obtained a iBook G3 Dual USB (500 MHz/ 64 MB RAM/ 10 GB HD) off ebay. It just happened to be a public school board surplus computer from some school district in North Carolina.
Anyway, besides the point. I am having a issue. The machine won't launch any applications (such as Word '98, Appleworks 6, Stuffit Expander). It gives me either an error type 1, 2, 3 or a bomb error type 10. I researched a little and found something about the "Internet Config Extension" needs to be enabled, but it isn't in the extension list. The icon is, however in the Extension folder but doesn't appear in the Extension list that allows you to turn them on/ off.
I read that you could also download URL Access 2.3 from Apple, however my iBook won't launch it due to it requires Stuffit Expander, which gives me an error because it won't load applications. This is using Mac OS 9.2. The machine did not come with system disks (a mistake I horribly regret with buying it) but now that I have it I don't want it to go to waste. I'd like to get some kind of help to where I could get the OS fixed without a required reinstallation.
Any help will be greatly appreciated! I'm not entirely sure, but this could also be a hardware issue. It was suggested to me by a friend the hard drive might be going bad on the unit because it is loud and sometimes finder will unexpectedly quit or i'll get a bomb error on the login menu.
    Thanks again,
    Jake

Are you certain that the Tiger discs are CDs? Tiger originally came on DVDs. There was a media exchange program that allowed someone to exchange the DVDs for CDs if they didn't have a DVD drive, so the CDs do exist, but they are rather rare. I can tell from the 64 MB of RAM that yours is equipped with just a CD-ROM drive (no DVD compatibility). (If you have an external DVD drive, this shouldn't be a problem.)
Upgrading the hard drive is a complicated thing to do:
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/iBook-G3-12-Inch-Hard-Drive/130/1
If you're up to doing that hard drive upgrade (or know someone who is), you maximize the RAM, and you really have the Tiger CDs (or an external DVD drive), then it should work. You won't have the applications that came with the iBook, though (such as AppleWorks). And say goodbye to Word 98, too, unless you have the software to install it on the new hard drive.

  • Crystal Reports crashes

I am running Crystal Reports using the Universal Web Service Connector and when I drag a field from the "Field Explorer" panel onto the report I or I select "Template Field Object" the Crystal Reports application crashes.  Can some one help me?

    Hi,
    Try with this:
Following settings are to be made:
Right click on the task bar.
    Select Tile Windows Horizontally option.
Check whether desired window can be seen.
Selecting Cascade Windows option might be needed.
This will force all the Windows to anchor themselves in a new location on the current monitor.
Note: It might require reinstallation of video drivers.
If this does not help try to switch on primary monitor as you are using dual monitor.
