Crystal Reports crashes

I am running Crystal Reports using the Universal Web Service Connector and when I drag a field from the "Field Explorer" panel onto the report I or I select "Template Field Object" the Crystal Reports application crashes.  Can some one help me?

Hi,
Try with this:
Following settings are to be made:
Right click on the task bar.
Select Tile Windows Horizontally option.
Check whether desired window can be seen.
Selecting Cascade Windows option might be needed.
This will force all the Windows to anchor themselves in a new location on the current monitor.
Note: It might require reinstallation of video drivers.
If this does not help try to switch on primary monitor as you are using dual monitor.
Regards,
Shweta

  • VS2010 Crystal Report Crashes System when using 'Set DataSource Location..'

    Runtime ASP.NET 3.5
    VS 2010
    Under Database Fields (rt click) try Set DataSource Location... causes VS2010 to crash.
    This is on an imported report from VS2008.  VS2008 has no problem with the report.
    Since this is a ASP.NET 3.5 program the internal property field
    <ResGenToolArchitecture>Managed32Bit</ResGenToolArchitecture>
    has been set in the project in order to allow the code to compile w/out errors.
    What is solution for Crystal Report Set DataSource Location?

    Hi Ken,
    Here's one link on the issue: CRVS2010 RTM: Database Expert / External Component has thrown an exception
    The reason is Old OS's used c:\temp as the default, now you are require to use %user%\temp as your temp folder as well as using the AppData folder for your app. If CR finds c:\temp it uses it and depending on what is in there it can cause Cr to crash, XML files have been know to do this.
    Following MS's new rules on users temp folder should make your app Windows Compliant.
    Thanks again

  • CRVS2010 Beta - Crystal Reports crashes Visual Studio

    I have a problem in VS2010 whenever I attempt to use anything related to Crystal Report files (*.rpt). Attempting to open any rpt file or add one to a project causes VS2010 to crash. I have tried un- and re-installing several times to no effect. Any help would be welcomed.
    I'm running:
    Windows XP SP3 32-bit
    VS2010 Ultimate
    I can get the crash to occur in the following scenarios:
    Create a new code project. In that project, Add new item... Crystal Report file.  The report file will be created and then Visual Studio crashes due to an access violation exception. It generates the following error in the system event log:

    Next case: Add existing item... an rpt file created by the above process. The file is successfully added to the project. However, opening the file to edit it causes a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error dialog to appear, followed by VS2010 crashing. I managed to pull the following errors out of the process:

    Hi J,
    Our PM just verified what you found also. This is another one of those "dll hell" problems that Microsoft is trying to fix by asking all to put their own dependency runtime into their own app folders.
    I don't think Mcafee is the cause. Our IT department push out McAfee as well and I don't have it in the system32 folder so it's likely Adobe installing it into the \system32 folder.
    You could try moving it to their app folder so it doesn't break Adobe or submit a ticket with Adobe to not drop that dll into the \system32 folder.
    For your info also the dll is a Crypto Package released by RSA, file security.... Part of the new feature of locking the RPT files by encrypting them.
    It may not be Adobe doing this either, check the install logs to find out who is placing the dll in the \system32 folder.
    Update - I just installed Adobe Reader and it wasn't Adobe Reader installing it so you guys will have to check the install logs and let that 3rd party software company know they need to alter their installer.
    At this point we don't need the dump file.

    Thanks again for all your time testing

  • Crystal Reports Crashing Application

    Post Author: Soumini
    CA Forum: General
    When ever I run Crystal Reports from my application, multiple times, the application crashes. The crash time is very random.Sometimes it is on the very first report. Some times it crashes after I have run the report some 10 times and at other times reports run upto 200 times before it crashes.  It crashes every time for some users at the
    same place in the application. If any one has any ideas please let me know

    He would have to download the latest merge modules for his version of CR (or the ones for CR for .NET 2003 if that is what was used) and build a deployment project using the keycode.  I have not tried deploying it to Vista yet so not sure if there is anything else that needs to be done.  He can seach the kbase for vista issues.

  • Crystal Reports Crashing with Memo fields

    Hi All, I am trying to figure out why Crystal Reports is crashing on me. I have been trying Crystal Reports 9 and 2013. When running a report on a local machine the report runs fine. When running it on a terminal services session is crashing. I have narrowed it down to a memo (or long text) field. I am connecting to a MySQL database with MySQL 5.1 driver on a Windows 8 Terminal Services Session. Any help appreciated.

  • Crystal Reports crashes when accessing Help or refreshing report data

    I am running Crystal Reports 2008 (v12.0.0.683) on the same server as Business Objects XI 3.0.  When I open a report in the Crystal Reports 2008 designer client, the client crashes without any error messages if I try to access the Help files or refresh the current report data.  My report does include parameters and a subreport.  I am logging onto the Windows 2003 SP2 server via a Remote Desktop connection.  Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Kathy

    Please re-post if this is still an issue to the Business Objects Forum or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with you

  • Crystal report crash on refresh

    Hi Guys,
    I know nothing about crystal reports hence coming here for some advice. I have a user who is having an issue on crystal reports when she refreshes one particular report she will get the error message:
    "crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close"
    It will then restart crystal reports. I would like to know if this is as simple as that particular report is a corrupt file or is there is anthing that can be tried to fix this such as rebuilding the report. Or will she just have to create this report again from scratch?
    She is using crystal reports 2008 - cr developer - version 2.0.0.549 type full
    We do not know how to check for service packs installed, but I am not sure if this is the issue anyway as its only 1 report that has the problem.
    All suggestions / idea's welcome.

    Open the report in Crystal, before you refresh to see the data, click on Database / Verify Database, make sure it has the latest design. As far as I know, Crystal only totally bombs when you have a bad SQL statement which is usually do to some database schema design change. Start here. Now, if no database changes are made, you will need to create a new blank report, attach to the same datasource, same tables, and start adding the fields back onto the report one at a time  until you come across the crash.
    I suspect it could also be a divide by zero problem if you are doing any complicated formula's. (although this should NOT crash crystal)

  • Crystal Reports Crashes : CRAXDRT.DLL fails

    I am using an old version of Crystal Reports probably v8. We have our users who like to see the report in PDF format.
    On certain days,when the users open the reports at high frequency the application goes crashing down.
    We are using asp.net 3.5 to run this application which was developed in vb.net.
    When i looked at the code,it is first saving the report on the server and then the same file is being read and displayed on the browser as a pdf.
    I have some questions.
    1. Can we directly render the report without having to save it on the hard-disk of the server?
    2. What is the current version of crystal reports?
    3. How do I prevent the CRAXDRT from crashing?
    4. Crystal Reports 9 ActiveX Designer Runtime Library,is it something which we need to install on the server where crystal reports are placed?

    Yes, you can use the stream API, something like this:
    private void ExportToStream_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
        rptClientDoc = rpt.ReportClientDocument;
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.MicrosoftMailDestinationOptions mailOpts = CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportOptions.CreateMicrosoftMailDestinationOptions();
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.DiskFileDestinationOptions diskOpts = CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportOptions.CreateDiskFileDestinationOptions();
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportOptions exportOpts = new CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportOptions();
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.CharacterSeparatedValuesFormatOptions csvExpOpts = new CrystalDecisions.Shared.CharacterSeparatedValuesFormatOptions();
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.HTMLFormatOptions HTMLExpOpts = new CrystalDecisions.Shared.HTMLFormatOptions();
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.PdfFormatOptions PDFExpOpts = new CrystalDecisions.Shared.PdfFormatOptions();
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.EditableRTFExportFormatOptions RTFExpOpts = new CrystalDecisions.Shared.EditableRTFExportFormatOptions();
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.PdfRtfWordFormatOptions PDFRTFExpOpts = new CrystalDecisions.Shared.PdfRtfWordFormatOptions();
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExcelDataOnlyFormatOptions XLSXExpOpts = new CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExcelDataOnlyFormatOptions();
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.TextFormatOptions txtFmtOpts = new CrystalDecisions.Shared.TextFormatOptions();
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ReportFileFormat crExpFormat = new CrystalDecisions.Shared.ReportFileFormat();
        CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.HTMLExportFormatOptions myHTML = new HTMLExportFormatOptions();
        CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.RPTExportFormatOptions myRPTExp = new RPTExportFormatOptions();
        CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.ExportOptions RASEptOpts = new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.ExportOptions();
        rpt.Load(@"c:\reports\b.rpt");
        rptClientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();
        string MyRptName = rpt.FileName.ToString();
        MyRptName = MyRptName.Substring(MyRptName.LastIndexOf(@"\") + 1, (rpt.FileName.Length - 3) - (MyRptName.LastIndexOf(@"\") + 1)) + "pdf";
        exportOpts.ExportDestinationType = CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportDestinationType.DiskFile;
        exportOpts.ExportDestinationOptions = diskOpts;
        diskOpts.DiskFileName = @"D:\Atest\735372\ReportName.rpt";
        CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.ExportOptions exportOptions = new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.ExportOptions();
        exportOptions.ExportFormatType = CrReportExportFormatEnum.crReportExportFormatPDF;
        //rptClientDoc.VerifyDatabase();
        //This exports the report to a byte() that we will stream out.
        Byte[] oByte = (Byte[])rptClientDoc.PrintOutputController.ExportEx(exportOptions).ByteArray;
        //this is used to verify the file so I saved it to disk
        System.IO.File.Create(diskOpts.DiskFileName, Convert.ToInt32(oByte.Length)).Close();
        System.IO.File.OpenWrite(diskOpts.DiskFileName).Write(oByte, 0, Convert.ToInt32(oByte.Length));
        System.IO.File.SetAttributes(diskOpts.DiskFileName, System.IO.FileAttributes.Directory);
        GC.Collect();
        MessageBox.Show("Export to Stream complete", "RAS", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Information);
    I do export to disk but not required. There are other ways also but the idea is the same.

  • Crystal Reports Crashes on startup

    All,
    Please help. We have been using Crystal Reports for a couple years now, never really impressed with the product but it gets the job done. Now we have 10 or so users that use the software and it keeps crashing. We are up to three licenses that are just going to waste becuase the computers the software is installed on can't start the program anymore. We are using Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 on each system.
    3 Computers are suffering the exact same problem.
    When Crystal Reports 2008 is selected from the start menu the program loads until the point it shows the Start Page then it closes itself down, no errors, no indication on what is going on it just goes "poof" as the users explain it. Oddly enough however if I right click the application shortcut and choose "Run As" I can start it as a diffrent user on that machine however the user it was intended for cannot. The program did start in the past but it now does not start at all. Since I can start it as another user I assume it is some part of the users settings in Crystal Reports that is the problem. I was hoping to find a folder in the application data or the local settings folders that had to do with Crystal Reports that I could just delete/rename to make the program load all defaults but none such folder seems to exist. I tried deleting all the Crystal Reports registry keys for the particular users in the Current User Hive to reset to defaults but that doesn't work either. I have uninstall and reinstalled the program numerous times. I tried diffrent service packs, 1, 2 and 3 all with the same result.
    We don't have a Crystal Reports server we are just using the program to formulate reports coming out of a SQL database but at this point we can't even start the program to connect to the database.
    The computers running the software are the following:
    HP 6730b Business Notebooks
    2GB of RAM
    2.4GHz Core 2 Duo
    250GB HD
    Windows XP SP3
    Latest Windows updates as of September 15, 2010
    McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise 8.7i up to date as of yesterday October 11th, 2010

    I found the solution late last night. Apparently the Start Page for Crystal Reports is what is causing the problem becuase when I tried to open in IE 8 it would give me errors about scripts on the page. It looks like SAP didn't properly program in a try and catch statement when loading the start page that would catch the error instead of crashing out the program. Since the Start Page doesn't hold any useful information anyways I just disabled it by replacing the start.html file in
    %PROGRAMFILES%\Business Objects\Business Objects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\Start Page\en with a blank HTML document so that there is nothing to load that could upset Crystal Reports and cause it to perform Sepukku.
    I think I am going to put out a patch to my users today to disable all their start pages before my helpdesk gets clogged with requests.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Crystal Report Crash using BW query

    Hi All,
    Crystal Reports are created with SAP BW query
    CR application gets opened without any problem.
    When the report is opened the prompts are displayed correctly.
    When the values are entered to parameters and report is run the Runtime error is flashed , when clicked on OK another error appears saying "CRW32.exe has encountered an problem and needs to be closed" which terminates the application.
    This problem happens occasionally and nothing specifically can be said when it happens.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Sheeba

    Hello Sheeba,
    You can attempt to enable tracing on the driver used to access the data.  This can be done in the registry on your CRW machine under the following key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\SAP
    You have to choose whether to enable tracing on the BW query driver vs. BW MDX Query driver sub-key under SAP based on how you connect in Crystal Reports.
    Also you must add a string value in SAP key called TraceDir and define the folder where the trace file will reside.

    Hello,
    To get to SP 6 first you have to install SP 4 5 and 6 incrementals.
    It is easier if you uninstall CR and then install the full build of SP4 and then apply SP5 and SP 6, 5 and 6 are incremental builds only.

  • Crystal Report crash when run

    i tried reinstalling my application, but it still crash when i run using a dynamic parameter from Business View.  any thoughts on how to solve this issue?

    I have the same issue.  I thought it was my computer, but I have reloaded the OS and reinstalled CR XI release 2 version 11.5.11.1470.
    I can create a new report and set the parameters manually (in the Selection Formula not a Static Parameter), but as soon as I use a dynamic parameter and run it, CR closes out and I get box letting me know it closed.  There is no error message.
    The same happened in XP and I am using Windows 7 now.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 crashes when previewing image with graphic location

    Hi,
    I'm using Crystal Reports 2008 for SAP Business One.  When I try to insert an image with a UNC graphic location (browse to a UNC drive for image) and I preview, Crystal Reports crashes with the following debug info:
    Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name:     APPCRASH

    Any idea why?  If I trun graphic location off, it works fine.
    The code I'm using to pull image is:
    sapserver\B1_SHR\Bitmaps\Versailles\" & {RSM_Inventory_Images;1.PicturName}
    Thanks.

    Through  Startu2014Run are you able to view the image by choosing the following path ?
    sapserver\B1_SHR\Bitmaps\Versailles\" & {RSM_Inventory_Images;1.PicturName}
    Also try to insert any image which is on your local hard drive and try.  I think this is because, CR is unable to access the images which are on UNC.
    Thanks,

  • Crystal Reports 2008 crash when Select Page or Print Report

    Hy,
    I Have Crystal Reports 2008 on Windows Vista. When I select page or I print reports, Crystal Reports crash. I tried to uninstall Crystal 8.5 and Crystal XI that I was on the same computer and manually removed all entry in Registry. After this I reinstalled Crystall 2008 but the problem was not resolved.
    So I tracked the dll called by CRW32.EXE and I found that the problem was on a DLL of Microsoft Office OneNote. I uninstall the Microsoft Office OneNote printer that Office Installation Program created for OneNote and now all work fine. I hope that this can help other people that have the same problem.
    Ciao Filippo

    Thank You for the information Filippo,
    This is actually a known issue with CR 2008 when a printer driver is missing at least one file. Our developers are aware of the issue and are planning to release a fix soon.

  • How do I connect from Crystal Report version XI to Oracle 10G express?

    I'm new to oracle 10G express and I'm developing an application that needs reports to preview some data from oracle tables.
    The oracle database is installed on the server and I installed the client on my machine. I need to use the crystal report 11 to report the output. Thus, I designed a crystal report that should simply read a table on oracle and though I need to be able to connect to the oracle 10G Express Edition database. I tried to create a connection from the crystal report using the Database Expert >> Create New Connection >> Oracle Server and I include the following parameters.:
    - Service: host:1521/XE
    - Username: username
    - Password: password
    Then when I tried to connect the crystal report crashes always.
    Is there any way to create a connection to the Oracle Database 10G express from Crystal Report 11?

    How to configure the tnsnames.ora on the client side?

    Please check the files content I included above and give me the way on how to establish a connection from the crystal report to the database where both are installed on the same machine.
