Join Configuration cannot be resolved

Hi, I am using Disco 10. I have created and shared a query that uses a join on an intersection table. I, as the query owner, can open the query with no problems, however when I share it, those whom I share it with cannot open it and get the error "Join configuration cannot be resolved. Reason: more than 1 of the detail folders users non-aggregated items. Attempt to open workbook failed. How can I resolve this?

Try to change the join configuration to be 1:1
Disco 10Plus / Desktop / Viewer ?
Also check the aggregation behavior (worksheet -> option).
Try to change the aggregation mode and see what you get

Hi Guys,
I am getting a following error while opening a discoverer report.
Join configuration cannot be resolved. Reason :more than 1 of the detail folders uses non-aggregated items .I know this error is regarding the fan trap.
The report is built from 5 folders(Complex & Simple) and a custom folder.I have 3 more reports which are using some of the simple folders from these 5 folders and are joined with other folders with the appropriate joins.
Is this the reason I am getting the error ?

Hi Veejay,
is it that the columns which I am using should be at same levelNo, not really. A item that has a data point property means that Discoverer knows that the item can be aggregated in a report. So if you include detail (i.e. non-aggregated) data points into a workbook from 2 detail folders then Discoverer will generate a fan-trap error because the workbook is not aggregated correctly.
Let me try and give you an example. Suppose we have 3 folders; A, B and C. Folders B and C are detail folders of A. Now support A has one row; folder B has 2 detail rows to A and folder C has 3 detail rows to A. Now if you create workbook selecting items from A and aggregate (e.g. SUM) items from B and C you will get 1 row containing the SUM from B and the SUM from C. Similarily, if you select the detail data point from B and the SUM from C you will get 2 rows containing rows from B and the SUM from C. However, if you select detail data points from both B and C you will get 6 rows in the report and Discoverer will generate a fan trap error because the number of rows do not relate to any one table. But, if you change the join from A to B to be a 1 to 1 join then you will still get 6 rows in the report, but Discoverer will not raise a fan trap error because Discoverer thinks the number of rows returned is in from table C because you have said that there is only 1 row in B for every row in A.

Another Fan Trap Dilemma - Join configuration cannot be resolved

I guess we’ve all been here at some point or another, tearing our hair out in frustration with the ‘intelligent’ way Discoverer handles Fan Trap Detection. As we are all aware, we could easily turn this lovely feature off and hope for the best. Oracle recommends against this, hence why I am posting this message.
So onto my ‘exciting’ fan trap dilemma :
We’re currently in the process of designing our EUL and ‘Main’ Transaction Report based on APPS tables. We’ve decided to create DB ‘Views’ that we can import into Admin. Our Views are grouped into similar categories. For example instead of having a view for ‘Journal Batches’, a view for ‘Journal Headers’, a view for ‘Journal Entry’ and a view ‘Journal Lines’ we have incorporated them all into one view called ‘Journals’. That view will then contain the items we require and the relevant joins between the journal tables. Hopefully this will make reporting for the end user a lot simpler.
Now just like what we have done for ‘Journals’ as mentioned above, we have done the same for grouping ‘Receivable Transactions’, ‘Purchase Orders’, ‘Receipts’ and ‘Code Combinations’. In Admin we have then joined ‘Journals’ to the relevant imported DB View. For example :

However ‘Data Points’ can be selected. This is visa versa if I select ‘Journals’ & ‘Receivable Transactions’. The error message we get is : Join configuration cannot be resolved. Reason: more that 1 of the detail folders uses non-aggregated items.
Turning off the fan trap allowed the report to run and data looks accurate. However this is a risk that we would like to avoid.
Is the problem due to the fact that we are joining folders in admin together and the folders are actually based on DB views that contain multiple tables and joins. Could discoverer get confused? Can anyone suggest a way around this or how to correct it? Please let me know if you need more information? Sorry for the long post, but I hope I have explained it well.

I previously wrote that I created the following joins in Admin as:
Outer Join on Detail & Detail can have Nulls (Master displayed first then Detail)

Journals.Refereance4 (1:n) Purchase Order.Purchase Order NumberInner Joins (Master displayed first then Detail)

Journals.Period (1:n) Periods.Period NameReversing the Master and the Detail folder around looked like it has resolved the problem, as I am now able to select and run reports from all folders. The joins now look like this:
Outer Join on Master & Detail can have Nulls (Master displayed first then Detail)
Transactions.Transaction (1:n) Number Journals.Refereance4
Purchase Order.Purchase Order Number (1:n) Journals.Refereance4Inner Joins (Master displayed first then Detail)
Code Combinations.Code CombinationsID (1:n) Journals.Code Combination ID
Periods.Period Name (1:n) Journals.PeriodAlthough I was able to get the same results with the first attempt at the join I was being limited with the error. Therefore it was very tricky to spot, I hope others will find my problem and resolution useful. Remember that we all learn from each other’s mistakes.

I had the same problem and solution for this problem is as :
u will have to select all the items from ur selection list again.mean put ur selected list as empty and choose again.u r prob will resolve.
it happens bcoz there is no. of columns which are agg. or detailed and when we use columns which are joined through folder ,we need to take all as either detail or sum .

Join configuration: 1 join to a separate master

Upon login to Plus or Viewer, as an end user (non-Adminstrator, not the Workbook creator) we get:
"Join configuration cannot be resolved. Reason: more than 1 of the detail folders has a join to sa separate master. Attempt to open the workbook failed."
What do we look for?
The workbook owner does NOT get this error.

More info on the situation:
We have a region->state->group-> area hierarchy in the data.
The user can select Region, Region by State or State. (ie Mid-Atlantic, Mid-Atlantic by State, or Delaware, Virginia, etc) One parameter selection allowed.
We have a join from the main fact table to the lookup table by group, and one by area.
We think this is what causes the error .. but, changing this messes up the parameter selection and query output. We realize that ideally this is a compound join in one join, but earlier tires of this messed up the selection parameters.
What is the recommended way to set up such a selection list - one that crosses levels of a hierarchy?

Hi i am opening a discoverer report by logging through user A and get the following error
Error
Unable to open the worksheet requested.
- OracleBI Discoverer was unable to find the worksheet that was requested.
- BIB-10310 An unknown exception occurred.
- Join configuration cannot be resolved. Reason: the joins on the detail folders use different keys to join to the master Attempt to open workbook failed.
But when i login through User B , i am able to see the report .
I have given user A access to underlying tables, business areas . Still i have the problem .
and it is high priority for me to solve the issue

The fan trap occurs when you have two or more 1 to many relationships at the same time from the same folder. What you will end up with is a cartesian join where the values are multiplied by the number of rows found in the other table. Here's a simple example:
Let's say we have 3 folders, one called Department, one called Dept Expense, and one called Dept Budget. The model says that for any given department there can be many expenses, and for any given department there can be many budget items. If you attempt to pull all of the detail values for expenses and all of the detail values for budget for a given department you will have a fan trap. So if there are 2 expense items and 5 budget items the expense rows will be multiplied by 5 and the budget rows will be multiplied by 2 giving 10 rows of data. Attempting to build this kind of query would give the wrong answer and this is what Discoverer's fan trap protection blocks. When enabled it will not allow the query to run with detail values on both sides. When disabled it will display the rows by rewriting the query into one or more sub-queries but Discoverer will still not let you compute totals for all of the columns which are part of a cartesian join. Many users think that Discoverer has broken at this point and export the data to Excel and add it up there completely oblivious to the fact that they have duplicate rows and that the totals will be completely wrong.
It is very, very dangerous to export data to Excel when Discoverer is not computing a value.* You have to understand why Discoverer does not compute and go from there.
It can be enabled/disabled at the user level in the Plus tool by using Tools | Options | Advanced from the menu bar. Please be aware that disabling is a global function and applies to ALL queries run from that point. It is generally a bad idea to disable the fan trap protection.* The right solution is to rectify the muliple one to many relationships, perhaps by creating a database view instead using denormalization techniques.

Join configuration error

One of my clients is getting the following error when accessing data from 3 joined tables: "Join configuration cannot be resolved because more than 1 of the detail folders uses non-aggregated items"
I don't have access to their data or business areas, so I can't see how he's set up the business area and the joins.
1.Is this a fan trap error?
2.Is there anywhere where Oracle posts error messages for Discoverer and probable causes?

According to Metalink, this is a Fan-Trap error. To fix it, you have to turn the Fan Trap off. Here are Oracle's notes:
The Fan Trap is held in:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Software | ORACLE | Discoverer 3.1 | Database
In here you can set DisableFanTrapDetection by using these values:
0 means fan trap detection is not disabled
any other value means fan trap detection is disabled
You may have already figured this out, but I wanted it documented for the next person who encounters the error...

Cannot start Outlook 2013: "name cannot be resolved" / "connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable" / "___.ost is not an Outlook data file (.ost)"

My work e-mail has a double-login system, where my credentials for work access are one username and my e-mail is an alias of that first username, so they differ from one another. I suspect that's why I've been having the hardest time with Outlook 2013. I
was able to add my account just fine once but changed my mind about using Outlook and removed the account. Now I can't get back into Outlook for the life of me. The error messages that show up are:
1. It asks me to verify server and Mailbox. I've tried it with both usernames (the official work username and the e-mail alias) as my Mailbox info, followed by the email domain (even tried it without the domain) and it still won't verify when I click "Check
Name".
2. This message comes up: The name cannot be resolved. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
3. Then once I click "OK" another pop-up says: Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. The file C:\Users\FirstLastname\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\FirstLastname.ost is not an Outlook data file (.ost).

I am trying to compile code but keep getting an error stating that the import of a class is not working? I wondered if I am having the same problem. I am running eclipse 3.0. The applet is called joole and it is importing CBoolFkt but it is evidently not working. Appreciate any ideas.

I installed Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers (Version: Helios Service Release 1) and the Crystal Reports SDK via Eclipse "Install New Software" feature described at http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/crystalreports-java
I have a sample code now and get in one of the JSP-files in Eclipse the error message:

I got the Crystal Reports for Eclipse Developer Guide and configured my project in Eclipse: menu Project -> Properties and added the CR library to the Java Build Path and activated CR at "Project Facets". I still get the error message... what's missing?

Instead of adding the "Add external class folder" try out to add to your Java Build Libraries "Add External JARs"
When you click on this button you can select the path of all the jar files from your Business Objects installation directory.
E.g. C:\Program Files\Business Objects\common\4.0\java\lib"
and "C:\Program Files\Business Objects\common\4.0\java\lib\external"

I really would appreciate some help or pointers on my situation. I have a SharePoint 2013 farm, 1 server is the DC and runs SQL, the other is the WFE Server with SharePoint and ADFS. I've configured Active Directory Certification Services and followed an
excellent ADCS blog here.
I've gone ahead and configured ADFS and believe my Certificates to be sound as I have no warnings or anything for the Service Communication, Token Signing nor Token Decrypting Certificate. Below are my certs.
I also configured the trusted relying party following numerous blogs (I did this a couple of times to make sure I didn't do anything wrong) but followed this blog.

So then went and extended my Web Application, added a host header (secured with wildcard cert) and chose my trusted provider I've just added with the script. When logging on, sure enough, I get prompted with the login dropdown but as soon as I choose the
adfs option I get:
ID4220: The SAML Assertion is either not signed or the signature's KeyIdentifier cannot be resolved to a SecurityToken. Ensure that the appropriate issuer tokens are present on the token resolver. To handle advanced token resolution requirements,
extend Saml11TokenSerializer and override ReadToken
So far I have not been able to get further than this. I've double checked that I have given permissions on the token signing cert's private keys (read permissions on the ADFS service account as well as Network Service).

According to your post, my understanding is that you got the “ID4220 SAML Assertion is either not signed or the signature's KeyIdentifier cannot be resolved to a SecurityToken” error.
I recommend to run Get-SPTrustedIdentityTokenIssuer PowerShell command on SharePoint server and look at the Trusted Identity Token Issuer to see if certificate associated was correct version of ADFS Token signing certificate.
If you export ADFS Communication Certificate for ADFS Login URL instead of ADFS Token Signing Certificate, please export the correct version of ADFS Token Signing Certificate and rerun the
following command on SharePoint Servers using SharePoint Install account to associate correct version of ADFS Signing certificate with SharePoint TrustedIdentityTokenIssuer and it should resolve the issue.
$cert = New-Object System.Security.Cryptography.X509Certificates.X509Certificate2(“C:\Host\ADFS Signing.cer”)

I have two group ( TREE section , Detailed Section )
Tree Section have a 4 Top Org Units loaded initially when clicking on each Top org, it expands as a Tree and goes deep strucure. No trouble in populating Tree,
when I bind the Text element in the Detailed section with the PERNR, I get the Above Error.
Configuration & Code
All cardinalities are 0..N, initailization Lead selection is set for all the NODES.
TREE_NODE > MAIN_ORGEH > ORGEH > PERNR > OBJEC
Main_ORGEH has ORGEH, the attribute TOP_ORG and the SUpply function GET_MAIN_ORGEH
ORGEH has PERNR, attribute OBJID and the Supply function GET_ORGEH.
PERNR has OBJEC structure , attributes PERNR, CALC_AMT, ENAME and supply Function GET_PERNR
OBJEC has the structure objec strucutre

I dont understand why PERNR > Pernr is not being read ? why is it telling me it is empty?
Any suggestions ?

The testing Org unit does not have any pernrs , as a result it was not allowing NULL values at the NODE PERNR level ( though NULL VALUE for the PERNR attribute is set).
On passing some dummy values, the Error is cleared.
I was even populating the Chief of the Org values as default to avoid NULL Values.

Server name cannot be resolved using VPN connection

I've just installed Windows Server 2012 and Exchange 2013. I previously was using Windows SBS 2008 with Exchange 2007 and I was able to connect to the server via VPN and create an Outlook account and connect to the Exchange server no problems.
Now with the WS2012 and Exchange 2013 everything is working fine but when I connect to the VPN from outside the network and try to create a new Exchange account in Outlook, I get the error "The name cannot be resolved. The connection to Microsoft Exchange
is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."
When I'm on the VPN I can ping both server name and IP address no problems so that isn't the issue. I've searched the net and tried multiple things including turning off firewall on both sides.
To clarify my setup I have two WS2012 servers. One is DC and VPN server, other is Exchange 2013 server which has both CAS and Mailbox roles.
I have a suspicion that the issue is to do with certificates. I don't have a valid bought SSL certificate, I am just using self-signed certificate. Can anyone verify that this is the issue or could it be something else?

Since you don't have a valid SSL certificate, you can try to manually configure Outlook to connect to your Exchange server by the following steps:
Go to your Outlook mail settings from Start > Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles > Add.
If you cannot locate the Mail icon in Windows Control Panel, turn on Classic View (click
Classic View on the left side of the Control Panel window).
Specify your Profile Name and click OK.
On the Auto Account Setup page, select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and then click
Next.
On the Choose Service page, select Microsoft Exchange or compatible service and click
Next.
On the Server Settings page:
- Specify your Server FQDN as Exchange server name (you can find it in HostPilot® Control Panel >
Users & Services > Advanced Settings).
- Type your Exchange Mailbox Username (email address).
- For the Offline use option, make sure that Use Cached Exchange Mode is selected.
- Click the More Settings button and switch to Connection tab.
- In Outlook 2013 you can specify the time period for which email items will be kept offline.
Select the Connect to Microsoft Exchange using the HTTP option and click the
Exchange Proxy Settings button.
-Specify Exchange proxy settings.
-Type the URL for your proxy server in the Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange field.
You can find the correct URL in HostPilot > Users & Services > Advanced Settings.
-Make sure that both the options On fast networks and On slow networks are checked.
-In the Proxy authentication settings box, choose Basic Authentication.
If you want to have Outlook save your password, read the Knowledge Base article on
How do I save my Outlook Password? for more information.
Click OK, then Apply, then OK
to return to the Add New Account window. Click Check Name.
If you have set everything up properly, you will see a window requesting authentication.
Enter the complete primary email address as the username, and enter the password for the mailbox.
If you have entered the username and password correctly, the username will now be underlined, and the entry in the Microsoft Exchange Server field will also be underlined.
Note: If your server is Exchange 2013 the server name will get underlined and will resolve into a name that looks like
[email protected].
Such a conversion is expected behaviour for Exchange 2013 mailboxes.
Click Next, then Finish, then OK to save changes.
Start Outlook and log in, using the same credentials as in step 9.

Palm Pre crazy symptoms: "phone offline", will not charge battery, will not start, error message "an error has occured that cannot be resolved"

This is a long description of a series of problems with my new Palm Pre. You may wish to search the text to find your specific issue(s). There is no solution in my post. Look for possible answers in the responses to come.
I bought my Palm Pre 4 days ago and it arrived 2 days ago. Phone worked great. Last night I plugged in the phone and updated the OS. After completion, I selected "Done" and went to bed.
- First Series of Issues: "Phone Offline", will not charge battery -
In upper lefthand corner of the phone there is the message "phone offline". Although the phone has been charging all night it reads "26% battery". I called the general Sprint tech support number and we tried the following things:
1) Restart phone (press and hold power button, then select "turn off". after power down, press and hold power button to power on.)
2) Reset the phone (several different ways - call tech support so that you do this correctly)
The individual at Sprint then sent me to another tech support person, presumably 2nd tier.
- Second Series of Issues: Error message "an error has occured that cannot be resolved" -
Sprint tech support person #2 also had me restart and reset the phone in a number of ways. In her words "we've tried every palm pre trick I know" and each time the phone was unresponsive. Often we received the error message "phone is offline". We did a full erase and after that the phone would no longer restart. At this point the error message came up saying "an error has occured that cannot be resolved" which referred me to www.palm.com for assistance. I think it's important to note here that this was not the typical error message (black screen with white letters) but rather the blue sky background with a semitransparent box over it with white text.
Sprint tech support person #2 then connected me with Palm support and the dance continued. Again we tried a whole bunch of resetting and restarting and erasing options. Palm support instructed me to go to: www.palm.com/rom to download WebOS Doctor, which I did. I downloaded the file. While that was happening he had me hold the "volume up" button and plug the phone into the charger. This caused a USB symbol to appear on the phone. When the file was complete I received an error message that the file couldn't run. Palm tech support person seemed surprised. I mentioned that I was on a Mac and he said he couldn't help me. He then transferred me to another Palm support person who works with Mac users.
Palms tech support person #2 then informed me that I should have selected the "mac" download option on www.palm.com/rom. I verbally walked her through the whole series of webpages, telling her that it says that you need Windows (version whatever) or Mac (version whatever) but that at no time was there an option to download a different WebOS Doctor for different operating systems. After some more discussion she told me she would have to have someone call me back tomorrow.
- Third Series of Issues: phone stuck on USB symbol -
So at the moment the phone is completely useless. Not fantastic. I booted up the mac in Windows 7 and downloaded WebOS Doc and received the same error. I also ran Windows Vista virtually and received the same error. Later this afternoon I'm heading into work to try the same thing on Windows XP.
In the meantime, I got onto this forum and located a thread that provided a direct link to the necessary file:

After downloading that file, which I realized could totally be a virus, I was able to get WebOS Doc working on my computer. It required that I recharge the phone completely before beginning and now it's on the screen that says "Don't disconnect your phone" and the file is at 3% complete. Only... it's been at 3% complete for almost 30 minutes.
I am hoping that Palm will follow up with me tomorrow, but I'm leaving at 7am on a business trip and would love to have the thing working. Any suggestions are welcome, even if you can just tell me how to get the think disconnected safely before my flight tomorrow. I don't fancy getting through security with my phone wired to my laptop.

Hello and welcome to the forums;
Our phone support is open every day Monday through Sunday, although there are different hours of operation for the weekend. If after a webOS Doctor reset you are still experiencing the same problems, I would likely recommend replacement, either in a local store for your carrier or through our technical support department.
There may be additional technical support offered or suggested over the phone, this would need to be done first before a replacement could be issued.
