Join ERP Systems

Hi,
I am not sure whether this is the right area to ask this question, but giving it a try.
1. I have 3 or more SAP HR systems which have got employees and different services in them.
2. Now I want to move all the data to either one of them (meaning moving the other 2 systems data to one of the 3 systems) or have an entirely new system and move all the data to this new system. Is this possible?
If it is possible, how will the services be ported? Meaning, there could be different services used in these different SAP HR systems. SO when I move, how are these processes/services moved?
Also, if you could throw some light on doing the same thing on SAP Finance systems.
Also, what could be possible bottlenecks in such a case.?
Thank you for you help,
Sam..

Consolidating/Merging multiple SAP systems is not an easy task and requires good analyzis. Whenever I worked on such projects we recommended to consolidate the systems into a complete new system because of client independent configuration that might be different on each system.
This is not just a technical project but should include functional resources as well.
It is not the data part that causes trouble (in most cases!) but the configuration  - what a surprise!
You will certainly have infotypes that are used in all systems - are they configured the same?
Which infotypes are only used in one system but not the other?
PD configuration different in each of the systems or the same?
This is just a small list of questions that need to be answered - there are maaaaaany more.
I really doubt that this can be answered in a couple of lines tough.
:-)Harald

    Hey Tomby,
Good to know about your idea. I was thinking on similar line, although my motivation was only 'fun' to do this. However, I have good expertise over other RIA platforms like YUI, jQuery etc. Let me know if I can help you any where. I am available at [email protected]

  • Evaluation of an ERP System

    Hi All,
W.R.T. to following tangible benefits from an ERP systems, in your opinion what should be the way to evaluate the current legacy or Erp and prove the advantages of SAP over it.
Empirical or Tangible Benefits from ERP System
    1>Inventory Reduction
    2>Productivity Improvement
    3>Order Management Improvement
    4>Financial Close Cycle time Reduction
    5>IT Cost Reduction
    6>Procurement Cost Reduction
    7>Cash Management Improvement
    8>Revenue / Profit Increase
    9>Transpiration / Logistics Cost Reductions
    10>Maintenance Cost Reduction
    11>On-time Delivery
And if somebody can suggest more tangible benefits in terms clients bottom-line he / she is welcome to join the discussion?

you need to look at the landscape the current system is in.
How many systems are required for the full end to end processes?
    User friendly?
What can SAP do that the other systems cant?
Will these things/ processes add value to the business i.e. MSS/ ESS, SRM, FSCM
How much manual work is required for month end?
SAP it can be automated, and the key month end closing should be able to be reduced.
Hope this gives you some ideas of what else to consider.
Please award points if this is useful.

  • How to analyse the main memory usage in SAP ERP systems?

    Dear expert,
I'm doing a research work about analysing the main memory usage in SAP ERP systems.
I would like to find out what is load in buffers and when. That means, which process have the control of these memories and which are always performing something, tables loaded, and so on. Becuase I tried to isolate the space needed by a simple webservice call (create one material) in my test system, but even after a $SYN there are something stored in the buffers. I use a BAPI to avoid the execution of the SAPGUI and its repercussion in the system (I know the BAPI called uses resources too, but when I run this BAPI to get the statistics, it's like ST02, I get different values). Could someone help me or recommend something specific to read? Thanks a lot in advance.

    Dear expert,
Thanks a lot for your answer. The point is now that I want to isolate the memory used by a webservice that I call, I mean, I would like to know how many memory is this webservice using in each buffer. And could you tell me where could I read something about the order that things happen in SAP System when a webservice is called (always memory related), that's which steps are done to store data in buffers and so on. Thanks in advance.

  • Communication between PC/RM Backend and ERP System

    Hi,
Is it possible to have communication between PC/RM Backend and ERP System by cresting RFCUSER with user type communications data instead of Dialog user.
Because of audit policy , none of DIALOG user should have SAP_ALL profile.
Is there a option to set up communications  between PC/RM Backend and ERP System without a Dialog user setting.
    Pravin

    Hi Pravin,
You are right and the user should be always communication or system. GRC AC allows for the user to be communication or system. Can you try with PC/RM RFC user and see if it works? It should work

  • Error when publishing a supplier to ERP system

    Hello experts,
I am implementing ESO 5.1, SP9 with Integration Package to a ERP 5.0 system.
When trying to publish a vendor to the ERP system, I am getting the following error in ESO:
"Unable to create the file: \Vendor__20110823172054719.xml"
System provides no further information, and can't find anything on ESO logs.
I hope you can point me in the right direction as to how I can get this issue resolved.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
if you are using FTP, make sure the property is ftp.temp_dir is configured to point to the right path. if not, in the Integrated System Config object, make sure the Export Directory value is maintained. Make sure the path/folder you maintain here is on a shared drive so that it can be accessed from all application servers in the cluster.
    Thanks,

  • Need suggestion on importing BC SET : UKM_DCD_CUST in SAP ERP system

    Dear Gurus,
Client wants me to import BC SET : UKM_DCD_CUST into SAP ERP system. I have found BC SET : UKM_DCD_CUST in T code SCPR20.
I have read most of the SCN discussion and got two way to import BC SET into ERP system as given below. But I need the appropriate way to do this. Can any one help me in this?
    1. SCPR20 -> Activate BC set -> create customizing request to import into another system as per link :Business Configuration Sets (BC Sets) and their use - Basis Corner - SCN Wiki
    2. Create TR in SE01 in 000 and import into required client  as per below proc:
    Usual procedure
    1) BC SETS will be attached to SAP note usually. Download it and unzip it , you will get a *.bcs file
    2) Call transaction SCPR20  BC set --> Upload In the dialog box that then appears, specify the files that you unpacked
Import the set BC into a package that you have defined. activate it with the "Expert mode"
    3) You will also get a *.txt file with prog id , obj etc entries , then you have to go to SE09 and create a transport request in the source client of your Solution Manager system (client 000). Open the *.txt and copy the entries it contains into the transport request. Use transaction SCC1 to import the data in your Solution Manager client(s)
    Thanks,
    Anand Aseri

2). Client copies bring the Customization data but not WorkBench . So you might have to do transport of copies from Old Dev to >New Dev.
So you are saying that the system copy from Production will not bring Workbench data and I need to bring Workbench data by transports?
*system copy from Production will bring Workbench data also, but when you do client copy from development system again on top of client which already has production customization, data and workbench requests, Production customization and data will be overwritten from development customization and data (it depends on the profile you choose for the client copy) *
However  Development Workbench requests are more and also has ongoing development work which might not be available in production client and those (Ongoing development workbench requests) you need to import in new system as transport of copies after the client copy
3). If you do system copy from Production and do client copy from dev...obviously Prod customization will be overwritten with Dev rite ?
That's what I expect to happen,
Ok, however, You might need to get Development Work too from the old dev system and don't forget about setting up of partner profiles in WE20.
It's just a thought ,  Do you have testing client in Dev, if not,You can leave the production client in development system and use it as testing client.
Create new client which is client copy of Old Dev and import WorkBench requests *
    Thanks,
    Arjun

  • Consuming and Providing Web Service with JD Edwards ERP system

    Hi,
I would like to create web services with c++ or java OR any other easier way .
I need to use that web services to use in Share point to interact with JD Edwards ERP system .
Pls Note : Since not having license for JD Edwards, I need to create and call from Sharepoint Web service to JD edwards.
and not from JD edwards web service.
Could anybody guide me in this.
    Thanks in advance.

I had this error again so I thought I would post my solution:
The issue is SAP needs to know the certificates being used by the web site being called.  These certificates are automatically installed in your browser but need to be manually installed in SAP.  This is what I did:
    How to find/install new certificates
Make sure you run Internet Explorer as an Administrator so you can export the certificates
Go to the web site that SAP is trying to call in Internet Explorer
Double click on the lock in the address bar
    View certificates
Find the certificates that are being used
Tools --> Internet Options --> Content --> Certificates
Click on the “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” tab
Find the certificate identified in step iii
    Export as a CER certificate
Click on the “Intermediate Certification Authorities” tab
Find the certificate identified in step iii
    Export as a CER certificate
    Go to STRUST in SAP
Import the Certificates in the “Anonymous” or “Standard” SSL client
    Save
RESTART the ICM via t-code SMICM  <-- Critical!!!

  • RFC lookup to PI system or other ERP system.Which is better?

    Hello experts,
I have a scenario[RFC>PI(RFCLOOKUP,SOAP LOOKUP)->SOAP] where I have to  fetch or update  the data in the table using RFC lookup in the mapping.
To store or update  the data ,I have created a table in PI system and through RFC LOOKUP I am fetching the data in the message mapping.
Some PI developers prefers not to create this elements in the PI system  and suggested a way to create them in the ERP.
I wanted to crosscheck with you all  whether Lookup to PI system is better or to ERP system in terms of  performance, security and std maintenance.
-Conceptually, they see PI as a communication tool, not the best option for storing data, which is an ERP function.
some prefer  ERP option  to Simplify the upgrade / system patching processes. As No Z-Objects makes the checking process much easier and there is no need to adapt those objects to the new release environment.
    I appreciate your valuable suggestions.

    Hello Souvik,
Thank you so much for your reply.
But in my case the RFC lookup will be executed twice because the authorization data(token ans sign values which is stored in PI) is valid for 12 hours.
if I find that these data is expired ,I have to do a soap lookup to get these details from a webservice and also have to update the same in the PI table using RFC lookup. All these activities are done in message mapping.
so first RFC LOOKUP is used  to fetch the data and if expired,I get these details from a webservice and update(executing second time RFC LOOKUP) in PI table ,so that next time when request comes ,I will fetch these details from PI table instead from webservice to send message  to the receiver.
same functionality is required for 4-5 scenarios, all acessing the same PI table.
So Kindly advice considering these situation, will the performance, security, maintenance  be good when doing RFC lookup to other ERP instead of doing RFC lookup to PI system .
    Kind Regards,
    Kubra.

  • How can Oracle ERP system reduce the total cost of ownership

i have read a report that describe the advantages of using Oracle ERP system in different organizations ; it is mentioned that
"+Oracle’s ERP solution suite helps customers achieve 30-80% lower total cost of ownership, benefit from a predictable cost model, and reduce risk+".
So does this means that Oracle ERP system reduce the total cost of ownership because it provides cheaper price comparing to other ERP providers, or it is meant that using Oracle ERP system will reduce the total cost of ownership for other assets in the organization by 30-70% ?
    Thanks

    My thoughts:
    1) Oracle ERP (or any ERP) typically replaces numerous applications. Each of those applications needed separate licensing fees, separate support mechanism, and separate employees in your organization to support them. By consolidating into one, it is easier to support it.
    2) Normally, Oracle ERP is cheaper than SAP but it certainly not the cheapest ERP in the market. There are some smaller ERPs which are cheaper but may not offer the breadth that Oracle offers. In fact, Oracle offers a small business ERP that is quite cheaper than EBS.
