JPDA 1.5 Sun Connectors

Hello,
I'm trying to use the connectors described in http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/jpda/conninv.html
Namly I'd like to try these connectors:
SA Core Attaching Connector: sun.jvm.hotspot.jdi.SACoreAttachingConnector
SA PID Attaching Connector: sun.jvm.hotspot.jdi.SAPIDAttachingConnector
SA Debug Server Attaching Connector: sun.jvm.hotspot.jdi.SADebugServerAttachingConnector
But don't see them returned as available connectors. Do I need a supplemental library or anything else? I'm using SunOS 5.9 with the jre and jdk posted as of 9/13/2005.
Thanks

Everything is in jdk5.0. You can check which JDI Connectors are available by doing this:
jdb -listconnectorsYou should see 3 Connectors name sun.jvm.hotspot..jdi.SA<something>. To test that you can use them just start an application and get its pid. Then try:
jdb -connect sun.jvm.hotspot.jdi.SAPIDAttachingConnector:pid=<pid>Hope this helps.

    There are some small differences such as the JNDI naming method. But the big problem is during auto-deployment where I get the following error:

    Has anyone any ideas as to which XML file tag needs ammending to get an ear to auto-deploy? Or is there a better way in which to craete an ear file?

    Andrew -
    In the past there have been problems with the Deploytool from Sun as relates to Orion. I don't know if those problems have been worked out, but none-the-less I gave up on that a year or so ago. I use ant to create my ear files in practice but am currently evaluating the JDeveloper beta and thus far am reasonably impressed with the ease of use. I would give that a try if you have the bandiwdth to download it. Investigate Ant for another alternative - though you have to create your own web.xml and ejb-jar.xml files (as well as the application*.xml files). Sometimes I use the sucky tools that come with Orion (OCJ4) to help out as far as creating the related XML files and to create the ear file. Depends on my level of tolerance that particular day.

    Hi Kelvin,
    I am able to connect through LDAP browser.
    I am able to do provisioning also.
    I followed the following steps to do recon
    1. i imported iPlanetXLResourceObject.xml using Depolyment manager.
    2.In Task scheduler, stop execution and disable check boxes are not checked ,XLDeleteUsersAllowed is set to true, user container is set to one of the LDAP branch,
    Trusted source to true, rest of the values are default values.
    3.In ITResorce, in the Recon Attribute Lookup Code is set to AttrName.Recon.Map
    I scheduled a recon task and deleted a user in LDAP.
    I am getting the above said error,should i set any other values other than these.
    Kindly suggest me the approach,
    Thanks,

  • Bulk provisioning to LDAP using sun connector

    Hi guys,
    I am able to provision only single OIM user at time to LDAP directory using sun connector.
    Could any one please suggest me the approach of how to provision multiple users at a time.
    divya

    What Octavian has said is right have 2 it resources and then have a ItResourceLookup Field in your process form. You can either have it to default to any one of the ItResource (OID server) or you can allow the admin to select this during direct provisioning. Depends on how you are doing provisioning i.e. direct or request based or policy based.

  • Sun Connector for Mac OSX Entourage

    In the same way as MS Office has a connector for Sun, is there a plugin so I can get Calendar on Entourage to work with the sun java server?

    The website has a disclaimer which states that you can't claim any rights based on the contents and also that Nokia is not accountable for (obvious) errors.
    It has been widely stated and known that since the latest update of this app, which was made by Microsoft, OS X 10.7 is the minimum requirement which in all fairness is not unreasonable.
    Again as this application is a Microsoft product I suggest you go talk to them on this.

  • VM supporting "real" hot swap through JPDA (VirtualMachine#canAddMethod)

    Hi,
    as far as I can see the latest sun VMs (both 1.4.x and 1.5.x) do not support "real" hot swap (e.g. adding new methods to a class, implementing a new interface etc.)
    it seems to me that this feature is dependant on the VM implementation.
    So my question is: Is there a VM around which provides this feature ?
    I am asking because I want to use the full hot swap features in the myEclipse workbench, but whenever I'm doing anything that changes the class structure (even adding private methods !!!) myEclipse will tell me that hotswap failed.
    Thanks & best regards
    Aschorle
    PS: I guess the following methods should return true:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/jpda/jdi/com/sun/jdi/VirtualMachine.html#canAddMethod
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/jpda/jdi/com/sun/jdi/VirtualMachine.html#canUnrestrictedlyRedefineClasses()

    I've got the same question.
    I'm using j2sdk1.4.2_04 and the canAddMethod method is returning false.
    Could it be there is a difference in return value when I lauch the remote VM using the CommandLineLaunch connector instead of the AttachingConnector?
    If someone can give more information about the subject, please do so.
    Kind regards,

  • Watching all fields that are in scope using JPDA

    Hi,
    I'm helping develop a debugger using JDI and have a question about watching certain types of variables that are in scope.
    I can watch local variables by getting the current thread's StackFrame and can watch static fields of outer classes by getting their corresponding ReferenceTypes. However, I can't find a good way to watch non-static fields of outer classes that aren't shadowed.
    Example. Debugging the following code:
    class A {
    int x = 5;
    class B {
    public void foo() {
    System.out.println("x = " + x);
    public void callFoo() {
    B myB = new B();
    myB.foo();
    The result of calling callFoo on an instance of A is "x = 5" as it should be.
    Clearly the method foo() can see what x is. However, it seems to me that to watch the value of x (a non-static field) at any point while I'm debugging, I have to have use the thisObject() method of the appropriate StackFrame and then call getValue() with x. However, if my current thread is suspended within the foo() method, it may not always be possible to retrieve the correct StackFrame (e.g. if foo() is called from some other class such as my debugger event handling thread).
    Basically, it'd be nice if you could point out that I'm just not seeing some nice call like getValue(Field f) that will get the value of an instance field that is anywhere in scope, especially those in outer classes. Or if you see anything I'm missing or another way to watch instance fields in outer classes, your help would be greatly appreciated!
    James

    I'm helping develop a debugger using JDI and have a
    question about watching certain types of variables
    that are in scope.You would do this by creating a com.sun.jdi.request.WatchpointRequest
    and restricting the scope of the request to the object specified. This
    is done by adding filter(s) to the request before it is enabled. For
    more information, take a look at:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/guide/jpda/jdi/com/sun/jdi/request/WatchpointRequest.html#addInstanceFilter(com.sun.jdi.ObjectReference)

  • OIM & SSH Connector - Batch does not complete

    Hi All,
    i'm fighiting against a strange behavior.
    I installed the last ssh connector on the Identity Manager. First Lookup (for groups etc...) works fine. When I launch a full reconciliation, the scheduled job produces a reconciliation event for each user that is in the passwd.
    Unfortunately, after the job termination, the system does not provides link ad-hoc functionalities, and if i try to do something on a reconciliation event, the system tell me that "Batch is not completed".
    The last line connector log trace says:
    [2012-03-16T12:37:27.285+01:00] [oim_server1] [NOTIFICATION] [] [OIMCP.TELNETSSH] [tid: Thread-3286] [userId: oiminternal] [ecid: 0000JORBQ9AADSwpGC4Eyf1FOlsL000002,1:29674] [APP: oim#11.1.1.3.0] SSHRecon::running the Recon thread for the ITResource securelog: FINISHED
    Someone has some suggestion to solve thi issue?
    Thanks in advance

    You need Version 9.0.4.2 of the sun connector to use the installer feature.
    check metalink for an update or install the connector "old school" by importing the xml files manually.

  • Ultra 10 with Creator 3D and VGA monitor

    On the back of my Ultra 10 there are two connectors for monitors: one is the usual VGA connector and appears to be connected to the motherboard, the other is the traditional 13W3 Sun connector, apparently located on a Creator 3D card that came with the system.
    I have a Sun monitor, and I can use it with the Ultra 10 using the 13W3 connector; unfortunately, however, it is quite old and would like to connect the box to a newer monitor. So I tried to simply unplug the Sun monitor and plug in a VGA one, but nothing happened. Uhm, what am I forgetting to do?
    Incidentally, another silly question: supposing I do manage to connect a VGA monitor, what device will generate the display? The Creator 3D (that does NOT have a VGA connector) or the onboard device, whatever that is (since the VGA socket is connected to the motherboard, apparently). This could be relevant for the speed of graphics rendering, I suppose.

    This topic seems to re-appear every so often.
    <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_cool.gif" border=0 alt="Cool">
    The UPA framebuffer will be more capable that the onboard ATI Rage chipset,
    which only has 4mb of video RAM and you will not get 24bit color if you set its resolution higher than 1152x900.
    You could also consider reconfiguring the system to run dual monitors.
    Search these hardware forums, keyword "xservers" (plural)
    I just saw about 35 hits.
    Then when you're ready, review the complete contents of the following file (case sensitive):
    <b>/usr/dt/config/Xservers</b>
    Depending on how you customize that file, you choose which monitor is console and which is the 'other one' ; you decide which is the left output and which is the right-hand screen; you could even run the output in a monitor spanning single GUI mode, although with disparate monitor models and different framebuffer chipsets, that may not be pleasing to the eye.
    ( see the man page for Xinerama )
    If I recall correctly, you can also find the user profile for a contributor named <u>ultraspec</u> and glance through a few of their postings, where they mention a DB13W3 to HD15 adapter cable.
    Edit: Oh, until such time as you do invoke the Xservers file within Solaris, I think the onboard circuit is disabled so long as the Creator card is physically inside. Remove the Creator card and the onboard is spontaneously your graphics output.

  • Retrieving the caller of a method

    I have used JPDA to get details about any methods being invoked, I would like to now get the details of the invoking method.
    I have used the com.sun.jdi.request.*; and com.sun.jdi.event.*;packages to get to call the methodEntry method
    whenever such an event occurs. From this I can get the details of the the method which is being invoked, however when
    I use the code below to get the caller method(which exists in a different class) for a method in class Test the following is printed
    out:
    Caller instance of Test(id=53)
    This is the code I am using:
    void methodEntryEvent(MethodEntryEvent event)  {
    String methodName = event.method().toString();
    System.out.println(methodName);
       try{
             System.out.println( "Caller " + event.thread().frame(0).thisObject());
            } catch (IncompatibleThreadStateException itex) {}
    }I would really appreciate it if someone could advise me on the way to get this to work as intended.
    Thank you
    Dave

    then calling it's frame() method with index 0, which
    from what I understand is supposed to return the
    stackframe containing the caller method.Are you sure ?
    frame
    public StackFrame frame(int index)
                     throws IncompatibleThreadStateException
        Returns the StackFrame at the given index in the thread's current call stack. Index 0
    retrieves the current frame; higher indices retrieve caller frames. The thread must be
    suspended (normally through an interruption to the VM) to get this information, and it is
    only valid until the thread is resumed again.
        Parameters:
            index - the desired frame
        Returns:
            the requested StackFrame
        Throws:
            IncompatibleThreadStateException - if the thread is not suspended in the target VM
            IndexOutOfBoundsException - if the index is greater than or equal to frameCount() or is negative.(from: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/jpda/jdi/com/sun/jdi/ThreadReference.html#frame(int))

    i got this error:
    Note that JAVA_HOME is the path to the JDK, while JSWAT_HOME is the path to the jswat.jar file. The <JAVA_HOME>\lib directory must contain the tools.jar file in order for JSwat to start. This file contains the JPDA classes (com.sun.jdi) used by JSwat. If the file containing these classes is located elsewhere in your system, you must make the appropriate change to the command used to invoke JSwat.
    when trying to run bat file. so i updated code and ran it , like this

  • Reconciliation on OVD (configured to point to OID)

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where I need to reconcile on OVD which will provide a modified view of OID.
    Since there is no connector available for OVD, I have configured IPLANET connector for OVD.
    Using this connector though I am able to PROVISION Users into OID with OVD in between, it is failing to reconcile users on OID
    When I run reconciliation, I get the following error:
    *INFO QuartzWorkerThread-1 XL_INTG.SJSDS - Problem searching directory: javax.naming.OperationNotSupportedException: [LDAP: error code 53 - LDAP Error 53: [LDAP: error code 12 - Unavailable Critical Extension]]; remaining name 'cn=Users,dc=ad,dc=mycompany,dc=com'*
    There are some links on OVD reconciliation, but of no help for my case -
