JRE and EBS 12.1.2/3

APPS - 12.1.2 (upgrade to 12.1.3 in QA testing)
APPS Tier hardware - Linux x86_64 - SLES 10 SP2
DB - 11.2.0.3 - zLinux - s390
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My next question is about JRE and the recent updates/vulnerabilities published by Oracle
Our server team is currently pushing out 7u13 to all users desktops. Our Apps tier servers are still at java version "1.6.0_20".
Over the past couple of days, users who log in are encountering security warnings - when trying to invoke the forms engine.
Steve Chan's blog has posted about this in his blog @
I am aware that I have to follow through with Note 437878.1 to upgrade the Forms tech stack.
However knowing that this is a long drawn out process and not likely to happen tomorrow or even in the next three/four weeks, is there another way to upgrade our JRE on the Tech Stack to a more recent version -
Running which java returns /ds01/mclebs/SID/apps/tech_st/10.1.3/appsutil/jdk/jre/bin/java
Is there any way to upgrade java here without the Forms Tech Stack Upgrade (assuming this is also included in the patches detailed in Note 437878.1
Thanks
  • Whats is difference between Java JRE  and  Java SDK
    Hi,
    what is the difference between Java JRE and Java SDK...
    i think both of them have the same set of files to be installed...
    I am not able to understand where they differ
    The JRE (Java runtime Environment) contains just the stuff necessary to run Java and the SDK (System Development Kit) contains the extra stuff necessary (and also helpful) to develop in Java.
    Hi,all!
    What is the difference between j2sdk1.4.1_03/jre and j2re1.4.1_03?
    Why there have two JRE? Which one we should use?
  • Webcenter and ebs R12 integration
    Hi,
    We are having trouble with integration of WebCenter 11g PS3 with Oracle E-Business suite R12.1 in some of our ebs environments.
    The step to set up E-Business suite portlet connection >WebCenter > Settings > Service Configuration > Portlet Producers > WRSP Producer failed with errors like :
    Failed imports exist for producer /oracle/adf/portlet/E-Business Suite WSRP Producer_383c5156-9596-4eeb-a005-8b218dc41c33 which is currently not registered in this application.
    A request to the producer URL "http://<host>:<port>/OA_HTML/portlets/WSRPServiceDescriptionService" resulted in a status 500 response with fault string "Internal Server Error (Caught exception while handling request: oracle.webdb.wsrp.server.ContainerRuntimeException: An internal error has occurred in method ConsumerRegistration.<init>())". The fault code given was "{http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/}Server".
    The attempt to register the producer with ID '{1}' for connection '/oracle/adf/portlet/E-Business Suite WSRP Producer_10ce66f7-704f-4512-be60-f297896a6eee' failed.
    Also, tried with WLS command - same errors
    wls:/ecm_domain/serverConfig> registerWSRPProducer('webcenter', 'E-Business Suite WSRP Producer', 'http://<host>:<port>/OA_HTML/portlets/WSRPBaseService?WSDL', timeout=100, server='WC_Spaces')
    It basically timeout. If timeout increases, it takes longer to hit the same error.
    This error is only occurring with setting connection to ebs running 2 apps nodes and on RAC database on 2 db servers. Anyone has integrated with ebs with RAC db and multiple apps servers successfully ? If so, what version of Webcenter and ebs ? I've logged an SR and has not progressed much in the last week or two.
    I am not sure if this is the right forum, pls let me know if there are any other appropriate forum for this.
    Thanks in adv,
    Mary
  • Install JRE and OpenJDK Side-by-Side [Unecessary - So Solved]
    As far as I know this is impossible, but if there is a way to install JRE and OpenJDK side-by-side, that would be great.
    The reason I would like this is that there is a specific webserver I access that simply will not work with OpenJDK. It's a known issue that may or may not be fixed any time soon. On the other hand, I would like to install freeCAD, but this depends on OpenJDK and not JRE.
    So as of right now, there is no way for me to have freeCAD installed and access this webserver. Now if JRE and OpenJDK were installed side by side, then this wouldn't be a problem. The other option, is letting users install freeCAD with and OpenJDK or JRE dependency, whichever best suits them.
    Is anybody else in a similar boat as this?
    Where do you see this requirement?  I don't see anything that specifically depends on openjdk6.  The only java deps I see are in opencascade.  It depends on java-runtime and makedepends on java-environment, which can be satisfied by jre + jdk.
    When I went to install, it was forcing me to install OpenJDK and uninstall JRE.
  • OracleADF and EBS compatibility
    Are OracleADF and EBS compatible? Sorry if the question is easy or silly, but I think that there are some things that should be taken to make it compatible if they are not fully compatible.
    Thanks again for your time!!
    Fern,
    Search on the OAF forum OA Framework
    We have discussed it a couples of times though to give you a summary, there are no standard guidelines, integration available for Ebiz with respect to ADF at present.
    In general, Java maintains upward compatibility (older code runs in newer Java releases.)
    Certain exceptions are made, and each major Java release identifies these. The current document can be read here:
  • Can JRE and MVM Coexist???
    In an IE6 environment, I realize I can install both the MVM from MS and the JRE from Sun, and that I can toggle the use of the JRE within IE's advanced settings, but...
    Can they both be used by different apps at the same time? I've got a PDM web app that needs the JRE, and a web-based colaboration tool that needs the MVM...
    Thanks for any input.
    By using the <EMBED> tag instead of <APPLET>, you can force the browser to detect the JRE even if MSJVM is the default. The JDK incudes a utility (HtmlConverter) that will convert your <APPLET> statements for you.
    Downsides (there's always a downside, isn't there?) are that I don't think <EMBED> is supported by all OS/browser combinations in the same way, and many corporate firewalls block embedded content, so you gotta be careful where you use it.
