JRE run-time arguments in deployment.properties file all versions of PlugIn

G'day,
A user can specify the run-time arguments for the JRE via the Java Plug-In's control panel. This results in a (property, value) pair being written to the user's deployment.properties file. I'm trying to compile a list of the property names used by various versions of the Plug-In. Here's what I have so far:
1.4.2_*
javaplugin.jre.params
i.e. one set of run-time arguments for all JREs known to the plug-in.
1.5.0_*
deployment.javapi.jre.V.args
where V is a JRE version number, e.g. 1.5.0_16, i.e. custom run-time arguments for all JREs known to the plug-in.
1.6.0_00 .. _07 ("classic")
deployment.javapi.jre.V.args
where V is a JRE version number, e.g. 1.6.0_07, i.e. custom run-time arguments for all JREs known to the plug-in.
1.6.0_10 .. ("next generation")
deployment.javaws.jre.N.args
where N is an index into the list of JREs known to the plug-in, i.e. custom run-time arguments for all JREs known to the plug-in.
These have been determined by sampling a couple of updates for each of the X.Y.Z versions listed above, i.e. not an exhaustive test by any means. Therefore, if you could expand on this, esp. pre-1.4.2, post 1.6.0, assuming they use the same deployment.properties mechanism, it'd be appreciated.

Though U area is not kerenl, you may be careful to read data using copyin() functions.

    Our organisation needs to deploy JRE7U25 to over 4000 workstations. Our desktops are running the following Windows and IE combinations:
    WinXP 32 Bit/IE7
    WinXP 32 Bit/IE8
    Win7 32 Bit/IE8
    Win7 32 Bit/IE9
    Win7 64 Bit/IE8
    Win7 64 Bit/IE8
    We use the 32bit JRE installer across all environments and all IE browsers use 32Bit IE. On all of our environments the Deployment.properties and config files no longer work due to what appears to be a bug in the JRE7U25 installer. Our deployment files are as follows:

    deployment.system.config=C:\WINDOWS\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties
    deployment.system.config.mandatory=true
    Deployment.properties
    deployment.security.level=MEDIUM
    deployment.security.level.locked=

    Both files are being copied to the following location:

    After the installer runs and deployment files are copied to the workstation the deployment.properties and config files look like this:

    I have tried changing the deployment.config file as follows in an attempt to fix this to no avail:

    None of the above mentioned works. So all our required settings in the deployment.properties file are being overwritten when opening the Java console? Our other major problem is that Changing the registry key to 0 in order to disable the next generation plugin does not disable the next generation plugin in Jre at the usual location as it worked for us machine wide (across multiple profiles for JRE6U29):

    ^^I have observed on a fresh install of JRE7U25 that the above mentioned registry key no longer exists in this version so a computer wide disablement of this option is no longer possible via the registry.
    On our 32Bit and 64bit machines running the 32 bit JRE 7U25 client when we disable the next generation plugin it keeps enabling itself again. Even when we run the javacpl.exe to run as administrator by changing the compatibility settings and disabling the next generation plugin it enables itself again. This is a huge problem for us because our company Oracle web based applications need this plugin to be disabled in order to run the apps properly.
    These are major obstacles for our deployment as we desperately require assistance or any advice in addressing these issues as there appear to be numerous bugs with the JRE7U25 release. Thank you in advance.
    Update 7 July 2013:
    I have observed that if you have the following options in your Deployment.config file it doesn't allow our java webstart apps which use jnlp extensions to run.
    1. deployment.system.config=C:\\WINDOWS\\Sun\\Java\\Deployment\\deployment.properties
        deployment.system.config.mandatory=true
    2. deployment.system.config=C:\\WINDOWS\\Sun\\Java\\Deployment\\deployment.properties
        deployment.system.config.mandatory=false
    3. deployment.system.config=C:\WINDOWS\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties
        deployment.system.config.mandatory=true
    4. deployment.system.config=C:\WINDOWS\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties

    The jnlp file association is also broken on Windows XP workstations with JRE7U25. We are having to manually associate the .jnlp file extension with javaws.exe on workstation for Web start apps or else users cannot lauch JRE whn clicking on .jnlp links.
    The only Deployment.config syntax which allows our Webstart applications to run is as follows:
    deployment.system.config=file\:C\:/WINDOWS/Sun/Java/Deployment/deployment.properties
    What a mess!

If I removed the system deployment.properties files and configure the user deployment.properties file, both IE and Firefox work fine.
    I find it interesting that if I set the configuration through the control panel, then apply the system deployment.propteries file, the user deployment.properties file reverts to defaults when the system file is removed.

  • $USER_HOME variable not working in Java7u55 deployment.properties file.

    I'm trying to setup a separate cache directory for an AppV Java 7u55 package. In the deployment.properties file I created the following entry:
    deployment.user.cachedir=$USER_HOME\\AppData\\LocalLow\\Sun\\Java\\Deployment\\Java7cache
    But upon initiating an application I do not see the folder created and populated with cache data. This is what I see in the Java7 control panel for the cache path after my edit:
    My question, is $USER_HOME still a valid variable for use in the deployment.properties file and if so what is the path that it points to?
    UPDATE: So I did find where at least for me this path led to on my desktop a directory called $USER_HOME was created with the rest of the above location following it. Is this correct?
    How can I my current setup deployment.user.cachedir=$USER_HOME to go to this location: C:\users\<user account>\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\Java7cache\ ???

  • Portal Run time error after deploying custom logon page par file in portal

    Hi Experts,
       We have customized the standard portal logon par file for client XYZ and imported it with the same name (com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par)  in portal.
       It is working fine for XYZ . And another client ABC wants the same customization for them also. So we took the par file from XYZ and imported it in ABC system. But in ABC system, we are getting Portal Run time Error. When we checked the logs, it is showing error in LogonBean class.Wwe have included the necesary jar files. Could anyone help us in identifying what is missing?

  • HttpProxyServlet - need run-time config NOT deploy-time

              I've looked through a lot of the traffic and haven't seen
              anything along the lines of this question. I have a system
              which we compile and build and then start up in a specific
              mode (i.e. production, development etc). All of the config is
              done at application startup time (the config.xml file is dynamically generated).
              The problem is that when configuring the
              web.xml for the HttpProxyServlet we must enter in a URL for the
              redirect to go to. What I really want to do is along hte lines
              of entering in a property-name, the value of which will give me
              the URL, i.e. instead of:
              <servlet>
              <servlet-class>
              weblogic.t3.srvr.HttpProxyServlet
              </servlet-class>
              <init-param>
              <param-name>redirectURL</param-name>
              <param-value>http://myRedirectPort</param-value>
              </init-param>
              </servlet>
              I would like to do something like this :

              com.myapp.HttpProxyServlet

              4. Would it be easier to write my own proxy servlet ?

              5. Is it programmatically easy/possible to register the
              HttpProxyServlet in my own hand written servlet.

    The messages are not informative at all.
    Can't this be handling automatically?
    Can't this get flagged earlier when you are building?

    This one may or may not be DSC specific, but the following type of Build Errors are not very helpful:

    Something I noticed - the Build Spec contains no info about it.

  • Deploying properties files outside of the web application in WebLogic 8.1

              I am wondering if it is possible to deploy a web application and place configuration files (properties files, log4j xml files etc...) in a folder somewhere within WebLogic that is on the Server instance classpath. This would allow me to edit the config files and restart the server without having to hack into the web application .war file and then redeploy.
              I am really looking for an equivalent of the /applib folder in Oracle 10gAS (each OC4J server instance has an /applib folder which is on the classpath of the server).
              Is there an equivalent for a weblogic server instance?? (i.e. not just for the entire weblogic server but for individual sever instances).

    WLS 9.2 includes pretty advanced features in this area. Both deployment plans and application libraries could be used. There's also a domain/lib directory where jar files can be placed and are visible throughout the server instance.
              Unfortunately 8.1 has none of these features. In 8.1, your choices are to either add these into the $CLASSPATH, or package them in the application.

  • Run Time repository mapping deployment hangs.

    We use 9.2 client on XP and repository on SUN.
    we did install awhile ago a serverside 9.2 client, but not sure it is still there, as other people did install 10.2 on the same SUN box using different Dtabase repository.
    When deploying mapping into the run time reposotory the progress windows hangs.
    Any suggestion?

  • Run Time Error When opening PDF File on Computer

    I am getting a run time error when I try to open up PDF's on my computer.  The error message reads, "The application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way.  When I click ok the error box I get a message that says adobe reader has stopped working and the program has been closed.  FYI I am using the latest version of adobe reader

    Operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium..
    Version of Adobe Reader is 10.1.13.
    Any thoughts on what the issue is?

  • After some running time I cannot download large files via any browser.

    I am running OS X 10.9.2 on a 27inch iMac 2013 model.
    If I keep it running (without sleeping) for some time, perhaps a week, I can no longer download any large files via any browser. It will start and after a very short time go down to 0 B/s, stall there and at the end aboft with an "Unknown network error" or something similar.
    Has anyone seen similar problems?

    Open router set up using http://192.168.1.1  .....you will see username & password .....leave username blank & in password use admin...............
    Click status tab..........check firmware version .......download the latest firmware from http://linksys.com/download ..........
    Udate the firmware ....reset the router for 20-30 seconds ........ later on reconfigure the router ........

The message is: Exception:http://java.lang.NullPointerException in class com.sap.xi.tf._MM_EDI_HospitalsToORDERS05_ method filename$com.sap.aii.mappingtool.tf3.rt.Context@545f545f
    Can we test this in message mapping itself ?

  • Forcing the JRE WebStart runs in, with deployment.properties

    Our application needs webstart to run in a non-public JRE, i.e. one that
    does not have a registry entry. The problem is, if you run javaws.exe
    from one JRE, webstart can fork off a javaw.exe from another public JRE.
    We do not want this behavior, as it causes potential problems. I thought
    that creating a .0. entry for our non-public JRE in the deployment.properties
    file would solve the problem, and it does for most cases, but I still see some
    cases where a public javaw.exe gets run.
    What I need to know is, what logic does webstart use to decide which JRE to
    use. I have verified that it is possible to use a non-public JRE to run webstart,
    as long as the JRE has an entry in the deployment.properties file.

    Two problems with that:
    1. I cannot modify the 'deployment.properties' as it will interfear with the client PC's java installation. Plus, I would have to automated this modification somehow for every client PC the application is installed on.
    2. The JRE is installed with the application by an installer and not via a URL. I do not want to have clients with slower connections to have to download our JRE over the line just because I cannot force JWS to use the one installed with the application.
    In JWS 1.0 I could force this behavior in the javaws.cfg file. But the next version of our application is using JRE 1.4.2 with JWS 1.2, and the configuration files have been changed and moved around.
    I just need JWS to update my applications JARs and not bother with the JRE.
    Is there anything I can do?

  • Automatic Update - deployment.properties problems with JRE 1.6.0_05

    This is a Automatic Updated daisable problem.
    I have change the update policy values in the registry but still have one more problem:
    I want to deploy JRE 1.6.0_05, in earlier versions ie 1.4 there has been a windows\sun\java\deployment where the initian deployment.properties file is located. But in the 1.6.X ther is no such folder and the deployment.properies file is still "copied" when you start ie "javacpl.exe" . I would like to disable the
    choice "Download JRE automatically" in the javacpl.exe to "Never download..." but the initial choice when the file deployment.properties is created is "alway download..." .
    Am I still save only with the registry key changes, or do I have to change the value in the deployment.properies and if so, where is the "original" copy that copies the file into C:\Document and Settings\[user]\Application data\Sun\Java\Deployment\

    Try these steps to correct the problem, you need to be logged in as an administrator:
    1. Go to the group policy editor. You can get they by typing gpedit.msc into the Run dialog.
    2. Navigate to computer configuration->administrative templates->windows components->internet explorer.
    3. Disable "make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per-user)".
    4. Login with the user account and go to Internet Options.
    5. Go to the Connection tab.
    6. Click on the Lan Settings button.
    7. You may notice that the proxy settings are not correct. Change the proxy settings to be whatever is required for your proxy.
    8. Configure Java to use browser proxy settings.
    9. Open the java console.
    10. Set debug level to 5.
    11. Press 'p' to reload proxy settings. Use the trace messages to verify correct proxy settings were loaded.

    The Sun deployment guide is not any help, because there's no ducumentation about multiple value settings.

    I'm having the same problem as well. Java 7u21 (32bit), win7 64bit. All i'm trying to do is set
    deployment.security.level=MEDIUM
    in my deployment.properties, but it won't work, i have exactly the same deployment.config as the OP.
    I have noticed, if i go into the user deployment.properties for the user (C:\Users\<name>\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties), and delete the file, nothing changes (a new one just gets created with the non system wide settings). HOWEVER, if you open that user deployment.properties file, and remove the entries that you are trying to configure via the system wide deployment.properties, then the system wide deployment.properties comes into play and works.
    But obviously this is not something I want to have to do on every work station.

  • ICO file not displaying at run time?

    I an using fusion 11.1.2.1 32 bit. I have Copied the Icons as well as GIF files in C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_FRHome1\forms\java folder.
    At button property i set Iconic to yes
    and file = addrow
    Icon not display at run time.
    but when i set file = abc.GIF
    image is displaying at run time.
    My doubt is that ICO file not displaying at run time while GIF file are displaying.
    Do i need to change configuration ?

    To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
    Double-click My Computer, and then click Options on the View menu.
    Verify that the Icon file type appears on the File Types tab. If the Icon file type does not appear in the Registered File Types box, skip to step 10.
    Click Icon in the Registered File Types box, and then click Edit.
    Verify that the following settings exist, and then click OK:
    The Description Of Type box contains Icon.
    If there is a Confirm Open After Download check box, it should be selected.
    If the settings do not appear exactly as listed in step 4, click Remove, click Yes, and then click OK. If the settings do appear as listed in step 4, skip to step 10.
    Click New Type.
    In the Description Of Type box, type Icon.
    In the Associated Extension box, type ICO.
    Click OK, and then click Close.
    Use Registry Editor to view theHKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.icokey, and then verify that the default string contains the following value:icofileIf the .ico key does not exist, create it, and then insert the value listed above. If any other values exist in the .ico key, delete them.

    1. Create a “icons” folder and place all your gifs in there
    i.e. “c:\Oracle\Middleware\as_1\forms\java\<icons>”
    2. From within icons folder make a jar file of all the gif images:
