JRE version with Forms 10.1.2.3

I just finished installing the patch set 3 for Forms Services 10.1.2.0.2 to update to version 10.1.2.3. The purpose was for our users with Windows 7 IE 8 to be able to continue to use Forms.
I understand that this requires JRE 1.6.0_20. However, most machines still have 1.4.2_XX. I am able to use the updated version on my machine that is XP and IE 7 w/ the 1.4.2 JRE version. One of our users with IE 8 gets this message in the Java Console:
Java Plug-in 1.6.0_20
Using JRE version 1.4.2_12-b03 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
He has the new one installed but it forces use of the old one.
Does anyone have a suggestion in configuration with working around this issue for users that will use either version of JRE w/ this Forms update?
I think an answer would be to uninstall JRE 1.4.2 for users w/ IE 8 but we don't have admin control on our machines.
Not a critical issue but your advice/help is appreciated.

Phil,
When you upgraded, did you modify the formsweb.cfg to change the JRE requirement? If you didn't that would explain the message your user is getting:
Java Plug-in 1.6.0_20Using JRE version 1.4.2_12-b03 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM>
As Chidu suggested, change the following lines in the Formsweb.cfg on the app server:
jpi_codebase=http://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_Developer-Site/en_US/-/USD/VerifyItem-Start/jre-6u22-windows-i586.exe?BundledLineItemUUID=D.uJ_hCujxcAAAErFOQkgqsv&OrderID=pYCJ_hCuGowAAAErCeQkgqsv&ProductID=mCuJ_hCyot8AAAEri7RGXQzG&FileName=/jre-6u22-windows-i586.exe
jpi_download_page=http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javaee/downloads/index.html
jpi_classid=clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-FFFF-ABCDEFFEDCBA
jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.6.0Note: The above entries are JRE U pdate independent - meaning any version of Sun JRE 1.6 will work; it is not specific to update 21 (current update version).
Hope this helps,

  • Problem selecting the right jre version with jnlp

    I am using Webstart 1.4.2.
    When instaling, it correctly found 2 jre versions on my system, 1.4.1_03 and 1.4.2.
    Because our application currently is not working with 1.4.2 I need to force webstart to use 1.4.1_03.
    I tried to set the tag <j2se version="1.4.1_03"
    When loading from the websever I get a "Error Code 11 (11 Could not locate requested version) "...same if I explicitly set to 1.4.2.
    I suspect that webstart is checking the "platform version" which are set for both to 1.4 and not the "product version" (see java preferences in webstart).
    Does somebody know if there is another jnlp tag I can use to force a specific version? or any other workaround.
    In my opinion this is a bug webstart should check the product version

    Hi Leah,
    Have you tried double clicking?
    If this doesn't solve the issue, you might want to try using a different version of the browser and disable the pop up blocker on your browser.
    Please try this out and let me know.

  • I have been getting java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ZeroApplet.class and java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JavaToJS.class crashes with JRE version 1.6.0_26-b03-384-10M3425 VM executing a Java Applet. Is Apple aware of this problem? No longer supported?

    My web page uses a Java Applet to allow my visitors to replay chess games; the Chess Viewer Deluxe applet was written by Nikolai Pilafov some time ago and has been working properly for some time (until recently). I don't monitor this part of my site regularly so I am not sure when it began to fail. On his web site [http://chesstuff.blogspot.com/2008/11/chess-viewer-deluxe.html] he has a link to check LiveConnect object functionality (which fails for OBJECT tags). His recommendation is to "seek platform specific support which might be available from the JRE developers for your platform".
    I have been getting java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ZeroApplet.class and java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JavaToJS.class crashes with JRE version 1.6.0_26-b03-384-10M3425 VM executing a Java Applet. Until I checked the LiveConnect object functionality, I was unable to identify the source of the console error messages. This does seem to be the smoking gun.
    Is Apple aware of this problem? Are these classes no longer supported? Has anyone else had this problem? You can attempt to recreate the problem locally by going to my web page: http://donsmallidge.com/DonSmallidgeChess.html
    Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

  • How to Connect SQL Server enterprises Manager Version 8.0 with Form 6i

    Dear experts
    I want to know that How can I connect SQL server Enterprise Manager Version 8.0 with Forms/reprots 6i.
    currently I have oracle 9i database at server windows 2003 and I also connected with client (my PC) I work on server.
    I also have SQL server in that server 2003 machine and this SQL Server also work with other clients that have VB program.
    I want to know that can I connect with this SQL server with Form 6i?

    You can't. The closest thing would be to create links in an oracle database to the SQL Server database using Heteregeneous Services and connect forms to the that.
    This forum is for the SQLDeveloper tool. You will get more complete answers in the "Database General", or "Heterogeneous Services" forums

  • Using tag OBJECT on a machine with multiple jre versions

    Dear friends,
    i guess that this question has been already answered, but i can't find the thread with all infos i need.
    So please excuse me if i'm redundant.
    This is my problem:
    i have a web application that runs an applet, embedded in an html page;
    by now the applet is loaded with the standard tag <APPLET>.
    I found many Sun's official pages talking about the use of OBJECT tag to specify the jre version that is supposed to run the applet.
    I tried many ways but i can't reach the way to avoid loading the applet with the latest jre installed on my pc.
    Here is the code of my OBJECT:

    So i have to find a way to tell the browser which jre has to be called.
    Thanks in advance for help.

  • IE 7 problem with jre version 1.4.1

    We are experiencing a problem with a site that is running java applets. It requires version 1.4.1. After logging into this site, a second window should appear. There are several times when that second window will attempt to open but then closes immediately. The only fix that I have found is to open the Java Console (tools>Sun Java Console) with the browser open and then immediately close the console.
    Is there another workaround or fix?
    Thanks

    Starting in JRE 5.0u7 and 6, we have family clsid support for the 1.4.2 and 5.0 JRE family. Please refer to Deploying Java Applets With Family JRE Versions in Java Plug-In for Internet Explorer for details. In your HTML page you can specify the 1.4.2 family clsid so that the latest installed JRE 1.4.2 version on the machine will be used. Note that we no longer support JRE 1.4.1. Please migrate your applet to JRE 1.4.2 or newer JRE versions.

  • Pressing Tab key in IE with latest JRE version

    Hi,
    I have question about typing "TAB" key in Java Applet in internet explorer with JRE 1.05_08 or above.
    When I type any key other than "TAB", the function, processEvent, will be called 3 times to process the events: keyPressed, keyTyped and keyReleased. However, when I type "TAB" key, processEvent is only called once to process the event: keyTyped and the focus goes outside the applet.
    Is there any way that the focus won't get lost when typing the "TAB" key?
    Note that this problem only happens in IE browser with JRE 1.05_08 or above. It works well in Firefox and netscape with any JRE version and works well in IE with JRE 1.05_06 and below.
    The following is my code:
    import java.applet.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    public class KeyEventDemo extends Applet implements KeyListener, FocusListener {
         public KeyEventDemo() {

              addFocusListener(this);

              System.out.println("KEY RELEASED: e="+e);
         public boolean keyDown(Event e, int key) {
              System.out.println("keyDown: e="+e);
              return false;
         public boolean keyUp(Event e, int key) {
              System.out.println("keyUp: e="+e);
              return false;
         public void processEvent(AWTEvent e) {
              System.out.println("processEvent : e="+e);
         public void focusGained(FocusEvent e){System.out.println("FocusGained");}
         public void focusLost(FocusEvent e){System.out.println("FocusLost");}
         public void paint ( Graphics g ){
              this.setBackground ( Color.blue );
         public boolean isFocusTraversable() {

  • Silent uninstall issue with JRE Version 1.7.0.60

    we use the following install/uninstall string for quite a long time without any problems:
    Install:
    msiexec /i "%~dp0x86\jre1.7.0_55.msi" PROG=0 INSTALLDIR="%ProgramFiles%\Java\jre1.7.0_55" /qn REBOOT=ReallySuppress /l* Installx86.log TRANSFORMS=jre1031.mst METHOD=joff SKIPLICENSE=1 JU=0 AU=0 REMOVEEXISTING=1 JAVAUPDATE=0 AUTOUPDATECHECK=0 SYSTRAY=0 ENDDIALOG=0

    The uninstall script even runs silent when Java runs in a browser while uninstall is executed since version 1.7.0.55.
    With the new JRE Version 1.7.0_60 a window appears during silent uninstall saying that i have to close the browser to proceed. I think it has to be a bug because we use the MSI-Installer with "/qn"-property and there should never be any window but an errorcode on the command line.
    It happens with x86 and (if a x64 Internet Explorer Tab is open) with x64 silent uninstall.
    Can someone confirm this behavior and report this bug? Or can someone tell me where I could report this bug myself?

    I'd say you can report the bug on http://bugreport.java.com/ under "Submit a Bug".

  • JRE version problem (XML Parsing)

    Hi,
    I posted a question earlier about an issue I'm having with an applet running in the Eclipse IDE but not in-browser. I have checked the JRE version for both and the browser is running 1.6.0_01 and the IDE is running 1.5.0_06. Now I could uninstall the former to force the browser to load the latter I believe but that doesn't solve the issue as I would need it to run on the newer JRE version.
    So my question is, what would cause the following error to occur in a later version of the JRE?
    Exception in thread "Thread-9" javax.xml.parsers.FactoryConfigurationError: Provider org.apache.xerces.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl not found
    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

    It has nothing to do with new or old version of jre it has to do that the explorer jre (5) can not find the jar file it needs. It is looking for the class org.apache.xerces.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl but it can not find it.
    In you Eclipse you do have this jar that's why it is running, just copy the jar to the lib or lib/ext folder in the jre 5 and everything should work.

  • Jinit or JRE version?

    Jinit or JRE version?
    I am working on a large Forms, Reports & Discoverer 6i upgrade to 10.1.2.0.2 project.
    We are unsure as to which JVM and which JVM version to put through our build process. User desk tops will be a mixture of NT and XP.
    Reading the product statement of direction JRE would appear the way to go. Counter to that is our relative inexperience with the products, particulary on the OAS side and with JInit coming with the product it is also a strong contender.

    The error does not look like a webutil client side problem - it looks more like a server side issue - perhaps the runtime not being able to find the webutil.pll.
    Check your FORMS90_PATH in the webutil.env file and make sure it's not too long (>255 chars) if it is split it and use ORACLE_PATH as well.
