JSF IBM (RAD) Components examples

Hello I am using RAD/Websphere for my JSF development and was wondering if there are any sample (examples) demonstrating the IBM-JSF tag capabilities (for eg say example code using hx:inputHelperDatePicker ) .
MyFaces has some excellent examples for its Tomahawck jar which are easy to understand does IBM JSF have something very similar to that .

There is no technical API documentation freely available. "Officially" you should do some (expensive) IBM-courses to learn about using IBM-JSF in WSAD/RAD. Then you will get some documentation. Blame IBM ;)

I suggest you to play somewhat with that WYSIWYG JSF editor of RAD/WSAD and meanwhile check the generated JSF code and backing bean code (the so-called pagecode). Read the code, learn from it and try manually rebuild the code without using that WYSIWYG stuff.

ADF With IBM RAD 7

Hi,
I work on a project which is currently using RAD 7 as IDE. The application is already developed and is running fine with websphere and RAD IDE. We are trying to redevelop some of the existing pages with newer technology to improve look and feel. For that we are evaluating using ADF. By going through the documentation I was impressed with the components that ADF offers compared to the what IBM offers. Is it possible to use ADF libraries in RAD 7 for development? Can any one provide steps to do the same?

Hi Swarna,
As far as I know, the ADF framework as a whole can only be used within JDeveloper. But for an already existing framework, you could use some of the components of ADF. I worked on a project that is developed in IBM RAD / Eclipse and uses parts of the ADF framework.
I understand you are mainly looking for new technologies for your front end. In our project we used the open sourced ADF Faces components of ADF 10.1.3. They are open sourced as part of the Apache MyFaces project, under the Trinidad subproject. The component set is indeed much more extensive than IBM's components. The only downside is that there are no nice icons and property panes for non-IBM components. So don't try this if you fear hand-coding some JSF XML.
Whatever set of components you are going to use, you might want to check Facelets as an alternative to JSP as container for your JSF components. There is a nice introduction to Facelets on the website of IBM.

Error in using the apache jars with jsf-ibm jars

Hi,
I am doing an application which needs apache jars for implementing the custom component(calendar).The WEB-INF/lib folder contain the jsf-api,jsf-impl jars along with the myfaces and tomahawk jars.When i tried to run the server i am getting the following error

How to install Flex SDK in IBM RAD?

Hi All,
I'm new to Flex and facing some trouble in installing flex 4.6 sdk in my existing IBM RAD application.
There are few flex files that are included in the new release and I need to work on those files (test/debug) to make sure that existing application is not affected with these files.
I have installed Flash Player and latest Flash Builder 4.0 and 4.6 plugin on my system for this purpose.
The Flex SDK, however, I'm not able to configure on my RAD.
Because of this, I'm not able to see the Flex Prespectives in my RAD and mxml & as files are giving error in text editor.
Please guide -
1. How to configure the latest Flex 4.6 SDK in RAD.
2. Apart from what I have done already, do I need to do anything else to debug/test the newly added flex files in my RAD.

Arie the thing is that i saw the post you mentioned above and it's kind of tangled,isn't there anyway or any sourceful website for step by step guide because i already mentioned that i am a brand new c/c++ programmer and i have no experience how to do programming in c/c++ as i am android and java developer using eclipse tool so visual studio is somewhat a new world for me.
Please if you have any step by step guidence link or website in your mind,do let me know i anxiously look forward for a step by step guide,but let's say if you don't have anything i want it's perfectly fine i ll try to dig more and work and look in VS 2010 because may be i am new and that's why i can't find the SDK integration.

Software problems with IBM RAD version 7

We have recently upgraded a handful of our developer PCs with IBM's Rational Application Developer version 7 from version 6. After the upgrade all of those PC's show no software installed, but everything else is showing up fine. When reload a machine from the OS up, and we install version 7 alone without upgrading from version 6, everything works fine. Uninstalling IBM RAD from an affected machine then reinstalling just version 7 does not fix the problem. Has had any similar problems, and if so what did you do to correct it?

Problem with fixing pagerdeluxe and progressbar while using jsf-ibm.jar

hi,
I am having a jsf data table with <hx:pagerdeluxe> to navigate, and i am using (jsf-ibm-unknown-vers.jar) jar, this works fine. I need to insert a progress bar in my jsf and used <hx:progressBar> but this was not available in the old jar, So i upgraded my jar to jsf-ibm.jar when i ran this progress bar works fine but he pager deluxe shrinks and unable to navigate.. I am using jboss server .... Can any one help me out about regarding this. So that both works fine

Consuming JSF & ADF Faces Components in Portal Page

I am totally new to Oracle Portal environment and doing some analysis of using Portal in our application.
I was reading that we can create JSP Portlets like adding scriptlets, expression and other JSP & HTML elements.
Is it possible to consume JSF & ADF Faces components in Portal page? I mean, is it possible to create JSF Portlets?

The WSRP provider, which is shipped with Portal 10.1.4, would provide this functionality through the JSF bridge. You need to install Webcenter to get the bridge. This makes me think whether you should use Oracle Portal or rather decide to go for Webcenter as development platform, especially if you have a J2EE background already.

JSF Portlet using IBM RAD 6.0 and tomahawk.jar

I am trying to use the tomahawk Date tag in a JSR 168 Portlet using IBM's RAD 6.0 but am unable to make the date's calendar button show. Has anyone been able to successfully make this work? I have the filter
defined and tag mported.

I encountered errorThere are countless kinds of errors on the world. Unfortunately you didn't mention which one you got. Can you please copypaste here the complete message and the stacktrace here? Errors are not to be ignored, they can certainly be helpful in finding the solution. You as developer should know that better.
At least I can tell you that you can just mix component libraries with each other as long as you don't mix JSF implementations with each other. The IBM Faces Client Framework is just a component library and so is Tomahawk. But for example MyFaces and Sun RI are JSF implementations and cannot be mixed with each other.

File Upload problem: JSF, IBM WPS and Portlet - Please HELP Vey Very Urgent

I want to upload a file from the front end using JSF and Portlets deployed on IBM WebSphere Portal.
I have used Apache's commons file upload functionality as the file upload provided in JSF doesnot work with portlets and the action event is not invoked If I keep enctype="multipart/form-data". So I included 3 forms in my Faces JSP file.
1) h:form = For displyign error message on screen
2) html:form = Include the enctype="multipart/form-data" and the input type file for uploading. And a submit button
3) h:form: Here I have a command link which is remotely excuted on click of sumit button in my html form. This is to invoke the action event in the pagecode to get the bean value from the context.
Now in the my doView method in the portlet, isMultipartContent(httpservletrequest) always returns null as the content type is text/html and not multipart. Onclick of the submit button in the the html form I am calling a javascript function which sets the __LINK_TARGET__ to the command link in the 3rd h:form which will call the page code.
The problem here is action is invoked only when I return false from the above javascript else it will trigger for the first time and from second time onwards it will not invoke the action event in the pagecode method. Whent the javascript function returns false, the content type is always text/html. However if I return "true" from the javascript the content type is multipart/form-data, but the action is not triggered for the second time. So basically when the javascript functions returns true, for the first click everything works perfectly. When it returns false, the content type is text/html, but the action is invoked in the page code every time.
Returning always true would solve my problem with the content type, but the action with the command link will not get invoked always as its some type of problem with h:commanLink :(.
I guess I gave too much info. Heres my code stepby step.
Can somebody please tell me , how I should also invoke the action in the page code and get the content type as "multipart/form-data" at the same time.

one more question. Is there a way where I can submit two forms ?
Thats is submit 2nd form only when the first form is submitted.
I tried this it works.

document.form2.submit();
But If I dont put an alert(basically it disables the parent page) in between, only the second form is submitted.
If I put a delay of say 3 seconds in between then it will throw a SOCKET CLOSED error in the code triggered due to first form submit.
Thus disabling the paresnt page for a few seconds is reolving my problem.
Any ideas ?
Well Basically when the Alert pop's up the parent page "STALLS" and thus the form2 does not submit till I click on OK, Is there a way I can stall the browser/Parent JSP page using JAVA SCRIPT ??

JSF dynamically changing components name or id.

I have a question that I am trying to find an answer.
I have a dataTable setup and in each column, I have a select table.
I would like to give these components specific names for each occurrence. For example:

JSF:adding dynamic components on update.

Well I am using a same form for two purposes. One if for creating a new service and one for editing it. In this I have a button on clicking it I get two new input text boxes.

Why don't you make use of a h:dataTable? Just adding a new SomeObject to a List<SomeObject> would be enough then.

R u using axis. If you want to stick with axis and don't want to use JBossWS there is nothing else you need to do. Move all the axis to Jboss. If you plan to reimplement all ur services in JBossWS here it is:

Enterprise Portal: Testing Components Example

Hello,
I am developing enterprise portal component iviews which also connects to a SAP R3 backend system.
For a long time I am searching for automatic testing tools or guides for that. But only the very short documentation about the Enterprise Portal Unit Test Perspective in the NWDS was found ! But this is really useless for me as I cannot see any practical example. The meaing of that is clear, but I need a real example, not only a method returning a string!
Can anyone lead me out of that dark and show me a way how testing of JSPDynPage could be done in NWDS??? Examples are needed as well, please!
