JSF with ServletExec 4.2

Hello,
I am trying to deploy simple JSF webapp in ServletExec 4.2. At the time of deploying I am a getting error. See the error shown below,

Any Suggesstion ?
Thanks.

I found the problem. In ServletExec 4.2 the taglib URI for tld files does not work if tld files resides in jar file. In order to work I copied "html_basic.tld" and "jsf_core.tld" in WEB-INF/classes directory of webapp and in the JSP page I used,
JSP Page:
<%@ taglib uri="jsf_core" prefix="f" %>
web.xml:
<taglib>
<taglib-uri>jsf_core</taglib-uri>
<taglib-location>/WEB-INF/classes/html_basic.tld</taglib-location>
</taglib>
Since the tld files exist in both jar file and in WEB-INF/classes directory, there is a conflict and it gives me "Renderer for type 'Time' already exists"
Is there is any solution, the URI will work in ServletExec 4.2 without copying in WEB-INF/classes directory ?
Note: Not by deleting the tld from Jar files and copying to WEB-INF/classes, this works for me.

  • Tiles / JSF with single tiles-defs.xml file, no templating JSPs?

All the examples I've seen for using JSF with Tiles use many JSP files for the templating information, resulting in twice as many JSP files as you would have in, say, a typical Struts project.
When coding in Struts you can forward to a tiles definition, meaning that if all your page layouts are defined in tiles-defs.xml, then you only need to provide the JSPs for the non-standard parts of each page.
With JSF it seems that you need to provide a JSP for the template for each file (which might end up being a single <tiles:insert... />, and the JSP for the non-standard bits for that page.
Is there a way to either a) combine those two JSP files into one (by maby using a <tiles:put ... type="string"/> - tried this, couldn't get it to work), or b) get something similar to the way Struts + Tiles works?

It does not work by default. It is a fact.
Source for Struts, Tiles and even JSF are open now. I.e. everybody who has interest can research this question.
I got this reply from another forum for this question and I am currently working on it. Lets see if we get somewhere.

I updated the web.xml file, created the faces directory under my examplesWebApp active domain with the jsp files, it finds the UserNumberBean class but it still crashes with the above.
One problem I was having while deploying it that Weblogic Server did not allow me to copy jsf-api.jar, jstl.jar, etc under web-inf/lib.
So I added all required jar files under bea root/config/samples/lib and updated startWeblogic.cmd
Please help with how to deploy correctly the samples:

  • Working on JSF with Frames

    Hi All,
I am currently working on JSF with Frames. I was able to have the frames implemented in JSF. I have 4 frames with the following layout
    Frame1
    Frame2 | Frame3
    ------------------------------------------

    Sorry, the question is
I have a commandNavigationItem (list) in frame2 and when I click on one of the component of the navigation list, I want to the JSF page loaded in Frame3.
Currently it is getting loaded in Frame2 itself. i did set the targetFrame parameter of commandNavigationItem but still it loads in Frame2 itself.

  • Connect to dbf file from jsp with servletexec??

I am trying to connect to a dbf file from a jsp page on an win2003Server with ServletExec. But i get the exception "no suitable driver".
    It works fine with the exact same code and file on my winxp machine. This is the connectionstring: url = "jdbc:odbc:;DRIVER=Microsoft dBase VFP Driver (*.dbf);Sourcedb=E:\\Data\\der\\Solutions;Sourcetype=dbf";
I can create a "Microsoft dBase VFP Driver" odbcConnection from the controlPanel and than use the connection from MicrosoftAccess and it works as it should. But I can't use it from the jsp code like this: url="jdbc:odbc:testdriver" .
It feels like I am missing something in servletexec. Like a classpath to the odbcdriver. But in all my other installations I have not done anything more than installed the servletexc correctly and added the classpath for parser.jar and jaxp.jar.
    Am I missing something here???
    Zoktrax

Try putting a Class.forName( "my.jdbc.DriverClass" ) before DriverManager.getConnection( url, user, password ), where "my.jdbc.DriverClass" is the fully-qualified class name of the JDBC driver class. I think that JDBC driver classes have static initializers that register the driver class with the DriverManager. I had a similar problem and the Class.forName( ) fixed it.
If that doesn't work, double-check your URL.

untill now i did and found who is logged in and what are his type( admin or user) .now i want configure the web.xml and faces-config.xml based on policy fileTo the best of my knowledge, there is nothing in the standard NavigationHandler which accounts for JAAS security. If you wanted, you could create a custom NavigationHandler to do this. If you think the idea is worthy enough, you could issue an enhancement request to the specification ([https://javaserverfaces-spec-public.dev.java.net/]).

  • XSQL Servlet Version 1.0.0.0 with ServletExec 3.0 on Windows2000 IIS 5

I am attempting to establish an XML connection to Oracle 8i in a Windows2000 IIS 5 environment. The .xsql/index.htm loads perfectly, but when i try to run helloworld, I recieve the following error.
"The XML page cannot be displayed
Reference to undeclared namespace prefix: :'xsql'. Line 2 position 13
    <xsql:query>"
The other examples load up the HTML but do not load any of the active XSQL information.
    Configuration:
I have installed Suns JDK 1.2.2 and JRE 2, ServletExec 3.0 on a windows2000 box running IIS 5. ServletExec seems to be functioning perfectly. I installed the Oracle Servlet 1.0.0.0 by configuring ServletExec's ClassPath, Alias, and Servlet Configuration, mapped the .xsql extension to the servlet, and setup the XSQL virtual directory according to the documentation. I am trying to connect to to an external Oracle 8i database, and have adjusted the parameters in the XSQLConfig.xml accordingly.
    null

The helloworld example doesn't work in XSQL 102. Tested using xsql command with http url. See below. If I put xsql: in front of connection in helloworld.xsql, the error moves from column 13 to 36, so now the trouble lies with xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsql". What has changed? How do we solve this?

Swing is GUI library for use in desktop applications.
JSF is a web application framework which runs on an application server and is accessed by clients via web browsers.
To fully understand what you have done, try accessing your application from a different machine than the server.
To answer your question, don't invoke System.exit() if you would like the process to continue. But that is the least of your problems.

  • Is in JSF (with Creator) a tehnologie similar with Tiles?

Hy! I'm new and I want to ask: is in JSF a tehnologie similar with Tiles? How can I make my jsf pages to have some header and footer? Of course, in Creator.
    Thank you very much.

In general, by design, JSF is a much more flexible framework as JSF is built with integration and extensibility in mind. JSF isn't easier than Struts when developing by hand, but using Sun Java Studio Creator can make it much much easier and greatly increase your productivity.
Take a look at the Craig McClanahan's Weblog (He was the original creator of the Struts Framework, and was the co-specification lead for JavaServer Faces (JSF) 1.0 )
    http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/craigmcc/20040927#struts_or_jsf_struts_and
A good place to learn more about JSF is JSF Central .
    http://jsfcentral.com/
As for your second question, you could use 'Page Fragment Box'. Check the online help for "Page Fragment Box".
'This component enables you to include a page fragment in a page. A page fragment is a separate, reusable part of a page that can be included in any number of pages. For example, you might want to put a common a visual element like a header graphic in a page fragment and then include it in all the pages in an application......'
    Hope that helps.

  • Jsf with popup window jsf and .xhtml?

    hi,
    HI,
I am using example at http://www.jsftutorials.net/interface/jsf-popup.html
for popup with jsf using javascript.
In main form when click on button or link, i am opening popup window , and getting values
from popup window to parent window.
Here I need to pass some parameter or value to popup window without refresh the parent.
I know with how to do jsp. but i am looking sample
how to send parameters when we use parent and popup jsf forms with .xhtml.
    Thanks

    Hi Mainak,
    have a look to Thread:
    Popup Sizing
As you can see there is not yet a way to set the Popup size.
You have to find the good combination of fields and length in order to get a nice UI.
The WDA engine try to set the best size, help it...
