JSP application component issue

I have an existing documentation repository, accessible through java classes. I'd like to use the portal content management features (folders, shared editorial/publication rights) to manage these documents. Can JSPs (created as application components for the content area) take advantage of my existing java classes. Am I permitted to create the sort of application links of the type allowed in the pl/sql application components? Note: this is not a question about web providers, but JSP item in content area.. Thanks for any advice.

  • SAP R/3 application component issue

    Hi all,
    My issue: SAP R/3 application component hierarchy node in RSA6 got saved in $TMP package as local object. When iam transporting the request from Dev to QA this hierarchy is not getting transported and all the application components in ECC QA are assigned under not defined node as individual node.
    Not only this when i replicate the data sources in BI side in QA these data sources are replicated but come under unassigned nodes because of the missing main node.
    So can any body help me in removing this main node from the $TMP folder and save this in a transpotable package to transport that to QA ECC and the same to replicate in BI.

  • Complete BI Beans JSP Application Issues

    Hi,
    I have few issues with using BI Beans in a JSP based web application
    1) I have created a new project of Complete BI JSP Application in Jdeveloper 10. When I run this application there are NULL Pointer exceptions logged on the console. But it doesnt effect the application and the application runs smoothly. Can any one suggest what is causing these NULL pointer exceptions.
    2) Secondly, I want to use my custom logging using log4j for this application, but since everything is done in jsp itself in this application, there is no scope of java classes for logging. Can anyone advise me what is the actual way of doing it.
    Regards,
    Vigo

    peter is right, Use the same driver version as that of your database. Copy the classes12.zip and nls_charset12.zip from database_home\jdbc dir to your application directory.
    Hope it works

  • Issues with deploying BC4J/JSP applications on OC4J

    To everyone who's been having problems deploying BC4J/JSP applications to OC4J.
    We are aware that you're having problems deploying to OC4J, and we're working on them. OC4J was not available in time for us to add support for OC4J deployment to the JDeveloper 3.2.3 release. In addition there are some bugs in the first release of OC4J that have an impact on BC4J applications. This note describes the issues, and how we plan to address them.
    Issue 1: Classpath problems
    People have been getting "class not found" or "properties file not found" errors when they try to run their JSP. The answer is to make sure that all relevant archives and your JSP's .properties file are in the OC4J classpath - there's a note addressing the .properties file problem at http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum99/HTML/000028.html. In general though, setting up the classpath can be tricky.
    Issue 2: JSP TAG NOT RELEASED ON END TAG. SAME TAG IS REUSED.
    This issue affects JSP pages whose behaviour relies on a tag instance being cleaned up as a result of release() being called.
    Your tag will not be released, and subsequent instances of the tag will reuse the first instance, rather than instantiating a new
    one.
    Issue 3:JSP SCRIPTABLE VARIABLE NULL
    A scriptable variable set in a tag cannot be accessed by a scriptlet. For example, this JSP code will throw a
    NullPointerException, because the scriptlet cannot access the value of resultRow:
    <jbo:Row id="resultRow" action="CURRENT" datasource="customer_vo1" />
    <%
    session.putValue("FIRSTNAME", resultRow.getAttribute("Firstname").toString());
    %>Workaround: Add a line of code at the beginning of the scriptlet to explicitly get the variable's value from the page context, for
    example:
    <jbo:Row id="resultRow" action="CURRENT" datasource="customer_vo1" />
    <%
    resultRow = (oracle.jbo.Row)pageContext.findAttribute("resultRow");
    session.putValue("FIRSTNAME", resultRow.getAttribute("Firstname").toString());
    %>
    What we plan to do
    To address issue 1, we're currently testing a utility that installs the BC4J runtime libraries to OC4J, and provides a script to start OC4J with the correct classpath. We plan to post this by the end of this week, along with instructions for deploying a BC4J application to OC4J; deployment will be a lot simpler after running the utility.
    To address issues 2 and 3, we're working on a second utility that installs BC4J runtime and provides a fix to the JSP compiler. We plan to post this second utility by the end of next week.
    We do apologise for the problems you're having; please bear with us as we work on making it easier for you to deploy BC4J applications to OC4J.
    Thanks
    Blaise

    Hi, I have been trying desparately to deploy
    a simple example JDeveloper application for months and months.
    I HAVE NEVER BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN DEPLOYING ANYTHING.
    I don't know much about webservers and I am relying
    on the instructions from JDeveloper help and this website.
    I have already tried Apache, and WebLogic
    because there are instructions in the JDev help.
    No luck.
    Now I am trying to use OC4J on 9ias because there are instructions.
    I have read the instructions about how to install a BC4J
    app on OC4J about 25 times, but I can't get this thing to work.
    It works fine inside of JDeveloper.
    I create a BC4J project using the scott
    schema (just the dept and emp tables).
    Then I create an empty project for my JSP client.
    I choose JSP Application from the web
    objects and it connects to my BC4J project.
    As I say, when I run it in JDeveloper, there is no problem.
    In the instructions for installing BC4J
    in OC4J, it first says install JDev 3.2.3 and OC4J.
    This is done, and it tested fine.
    Then it says to install the deployment software.
    No problem.
    But when I deploy the app according to the instructions,
    it just hangs (like Rick Wang's program did).
    The main.jsp page loads and displays correctly,
    but when I click on the links to the DeptView.jsp
    or EmpView.jsp it just hangs.
    Here is the entire batch file I'm using
    to start OC4J: cd c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home\lib

    java -cp C:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home\orion.jar;%CLASSPATH%
    com.evermind.server.ApplicationServer
    pause
    The file al_BC4J.jar contains my application.properties file
    and my connections.properties file, as well as my business components.
    All of the files referenced in my classpath are
    present in my c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home\lib directory.
    I noticed that Raghu's classpath contains a file called jdev.jar
    So does the classpath of another fellow who says
    he was successful in deployment (his name is Jeffrey Jackson).
    I searched my JDev_3.2.3 for this file and found it nowhere.
    I also searched my OC4J home and my 9iAS for this file and
    found it nowhere.
    It is nowhere on my C:\.
    Is this file necessary?
    I will also try removing my application.properties file
    and my connections.properties file from my BC4J .jar file
    and put them in a separate .jar file at the root level (as Raghu did).
    However, Jeffery Jackson did not do this and says he was
    successfull in deployment.
    ***DO I NEED TO JAR UP ANY OF MY THE FILES FROM the JSP

    I have read over all of the discussions at: http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum2/HTML/008232.html

    I had very similar problems with adding the correct JDeveloper .jar files to Tomcat's lib folder, but did eventually resolve my issues.
    The problem I am having now, however, is the following error message:
    Error Message: oracle.jbo.html.RequestParameters.addParameter(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;)V
    Yes, I have deployed the bc4jhtml.jar file from JDeveloper to Tomcat\common\lib!
    My web-app is a very simple BC4J JSP application. I have one BC4J component in its own project and JAR file, and one JSP referencing that BC4J component - I deploy the BC4J JAR along with the WAR file from the JSP project. Needless to say, the JSP works fine within JDeveloper..!
    I'm using JDev 9.0.3 and Tomcat 4.1.12. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    S.

              That's true. Several customers have asked to keep the deployment in it's original form instead of compressing
              it in .war file. Currently there's a known issue with engg.

              I followed the sequence you described and tried to deploy the webapp on managed servers. I do not get the errors
              that you are seeing below. Could you tell us how are you deploying the webapp on managed server?
              Also would you mind sending your webapp? i will see if i can deploy your webapp in my environment..
              BTW, is this with SP1 or without SP1?

    I have oracle PL/SQL application performance issue. To open a screen populated with 7,000 records takes 5 minutes.
    I have used SQL Analyze to get Index recomendation. Indexing did not help that much.Switch on a trace on a user who is just about to run that screen - let them rip.
    Stop your trace. Get your trace file. Run it through TKProf.
    Read the book by Cary Millsap that Sybrand recommends (or take a look
    at Chris Lawson) - i.e. read up on trace files and looking at them.
    Get the SQL that is run by the user and try running it from SQLPlus
    on the server (no network or app issues) - set timing on.
    That would be my approach.
    Do you think upgrading or replacing with newer machine can improve performance? Getting a newer machine often satisfies the geek's primeval urge to
    get his grubby little paws onto fancy shiny hardware - it may well
    work for a while, however you're not tackling the underlying cause
    of your problem, and it will (probably) reappear when the limits
    of the new RAM/CPU have been hit.
    If you what is suggested above, at least you'll be able to say
    to your management - "well, if we get a new server, performance
    will improve by this much, until we have (say) 14.000 records in
    the table, when performance will go back to the way it was before".
    Until you run a trace, you will have no idea if the problem will
    scale linearly with the no. of records or how it will
    behave into the future.
    You cannon manage what you cannot measure.

  • How to Create Listbox in a JSP Application

    Hi.
    I'm new to JDeveloper. Can someone show me how to create a Listbox (that gets it's values from a database table) in a *.jsp form? This listbox is linked to a database table field. I'm not using BC4J nor EJB. I've created a JSP application with ADF using a Model1 (or MVC pattern) architecture -- which I based on the JDeveloper10i tutorial (http://otn.oracle.com/obe/obe9051jdev/ADFmodel1/ADFmodel1.htm). I've tried using render on the field in the view object entity, refresh the Data Control Palette and then drag the table view entity to a *.jsp page as input form. But I can't see the field in the form being displayed as a list box.
    Please help.
    thanks,
    christina

    Hi Shay.
    Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry for the misuderstanding but I have no clue on terminology used in JDeveloper. The "view object" entity I was referring to is the "<TableName>View" view object (e.g. EmpView) under the Model->Application Sources->Mypackage folder where the "<TableName>" entity object file also resides. I think I'm using the Business Component bec. I have this step in the tutorial that I based my application on.
    I have trouble following the tutorial link you gave me (for the ADF Business Component Popup list) bec. when I select the table field in the "Data Control Palette" Panel, the only values I see in the "Drag and Drop As" poplist are "Value","Label","RenderValue" and "Input Render". I can't see the type "Single Select List". Do you why is that?
    thanks,
    christina

  • Deployment of simple jsp application in Oracle 10g AS

    Hi All,
    This is a critical issue. We have a JSP application which uses the plain old java objects to esltabilsh database connection and same old java objects to perform the business logic.
    All java file are packed in a jar file and all jsp's and other files(GIF,CSS etc) are copied to a folder.
    So what should be the steps to deploy this application to the Oracle 10g Application server.

    Thanks for the update.
    But application is already developed and is Runing in the 9i As and now we have to deploy it to the 10g server.
    Some steps that i am following to deploy the application are:-
    Steps for the deploying the A+ Web portal in OUGD
    1)Copy the “aplus” folder(containing related jsps,css and gif files) and aplus.jar file to
    “<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv”
    2)     Go to the following file
    "<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/etc/jserv.properties” and add the following lines,
    #APlus
    wrapper.classpath=<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/aplus
    wrapper.classpath=<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/aplus.jar
    #APLUS CONFIGURATION
    wrapper.bin.parameters=-DWV_GATEWAY_CFG=<<ORAHOME>>/iAS/Apache/modplsql/cfg/wdbsvr.app
    3)     Go to the following file
    “<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/etc/zone.properties” and add the
    following lines
    Append the following line to “repositories=”
    <<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/aplus,
    <<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/aplus.jar
    4)     Go the following file
    “<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Apache/conf/apps.conf” and add the following lines
    Alias /aplus/ "<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/"
    <Directory "<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv">
    Options Indexes MultiViews
    AllowOverride None
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
    </Directory>
    but following this steps i am not getting the result.

  • JDev9i-Beta;How could I run two JSP applications in Jdev enviroment at the same time?

    Hi,
    I have two JSP applications located on different directories. I wanted to run both applications at the same time in Jdev enviroment. But the second one failed.
    More info:
    I successfully ran Application1, then minimized the browser and ran Application2, then again minimized the second browser. After I maximized the first browser(Application1) and tried to go thro pages, I received page not found. Because Jdev sat up the Class Path for the newer application(Application2) and looks for pages there. I believe thats why I could not run both at the same time. How could I get around of this?

    hi,
    can you provide more details on this. Are these jsp files part of the same project or different projects. I can not duplicate this issue. Please provide us more information.
    Thank you

  • Transport Error on Data Mart Application Component

    Hi All,
    I have to transportthe export data source for my DSOs. I did use transport collection to make sure all the relevent objects are collected. When I transport the export data sources everything is going fine, but the DM (Application Component for the export data sources fail and put the object in repair status).
    The 8* data sources are active and available in the myself source system and the update rules from the DSO to Cube is also active, but the info source is not there because the Data Mart - Application component failed. It says as follows in the transport log.
    'Object R3TRAPCODM is in repair status. Therefore, it cannot be imported'.
    If the object is in repair status, can I ask the basis guys to re-import with over-write option? will it fix the issue. I could not see the repair statuis on the object as it is an SAP component.
    Or
    anyone tell me how to transport export data sources. I am in BI 7.0 but using RSA1OLD setup.
    Anyclues....?
    Thanks,
    Alex(Arthur Samson)

    I am closing this question. Identified the cause of the error.

  • Datamart application component  tree invisible

    Is the R/3 application component hierarchy and BW application component hierarchy same
    I read on service sap ,its NOT
    so how to get the Datamart tree visible with all the 8*datasources ,as of now its not visible but if i go to RSA6 ,i see all those datasources under the component called DM and DM-IO
    now how to get this DM and DM-IO from RSA6 to appear in the datamart tree section from below path
    RSA1>Sourcesystem>Datamart-->Datasource overview
    currently nothing appears here ,BUT R/3 application component is visible properly under
    RSA1>Sourcesystem>R/3-->application component
    thanks

    None of the answers are correct,I  do have mentioned clearly am talking of here the DATAMART (8*)appl comp  hierarchy and not R/3 appl comp  hierarchy ,R/3 is visible.
    Also its not that just one or two 8* datasource do not appear in the datamart appl comp  hierarchy ,the whole tree itself is dissappeared,it was visible just a day back,so the tool-->settings replied do not solve the issue ,it was already tried though.
    R/3 and datamart appl comp hierarchy both are separate totally.
    thanks
