  • Running JSP Excel report from Forms 10g

    Perhaps this had been discussed before, though I didn't find an exact solution.
    We have a JSP report that displays data in MS Excel. Works fine if called from the url.
    The report shall be called from the form passing a parameter list with PARAMFORM=NO.
    Problem: reports runs as designed but opens up an empty Excel spreadsheet. No errors, no data..
    We are using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT with desformat=spreadsheet and paramform=no.
    We can't use just web.show_document alone since quite a few parameters need to be passed.
    I've read in one of the posts that a paper layout need to be created (in addition to web layout) to run RUN_REPORT_OBJECT. We've done that, but now it does not open EXCEL, and displays paper layout in a browser.
    So, how to call JSP (Excel) report from Forms passing parameter list without displaying the parameter form?
    Thank you

    What is the complete Application Server version you are using? Be sure you are using 10.1.2.2
    What platform and version is it installed?
    What version of Excel is installed on the client?
    Does it work if you use an RDF report?
    Try this:
    o Change DESFORMAT to DELIMITED
    o Append the following to the end of the URL created in the WEB.SHOW call:
    &mimetype=application/vnd.ms-excel
    The result should be the same as using SPREADSHEET.

  • Re: [iPlanet-JATO] sp3 jsp compiler problem

    Weiguo,
    First, Matt is correct, the regular expression tool is perfect for general text
    substitution situations, and as a completely independent tool its use is not
    restricted to migration situations (or file types for that matter).
    Second, I sympathize with the unfortunate trouble you are experiencing due to
    Jasper's (perhaps more strict) compilation, but in what way did the iMT
    automated translation contribute to these inconsistencies that you cited?
    1. Changed the case of the tag attribute to be the same as what's
    defined in tld.
    example: changed OnClick to onClick
    The iMT does not generate any OnClick or onClick clauses per se. In a
    translation situation, the only way "OnClick" would have been introduced was if
    it had been part of the pre-existing project's "extraHTML" (which was written
    by the original customer and just passed through unchanged by the iMT) or if it
    was added manually by the post-migration developer.
    2. Removed attributes which are not defined in tld.
    example: escape attribute only defined in three tags
    but in some pages, it's used although it's not defined as an
    attribute
    of certain tags. The jasper compiler doesn't like it.Can you give soem examples? Is there a definite pattern? Again, this might be
    similar to the OnClick situation described above?
    3. In an end tag, there can't be any space.
    example: </content > doesn't work. </content> works.
    Again, the content tag would never have been generated by the iMT. There was no
    equivalent in the NetDynamics world, so any content tags in your code must have
    been introduced by your developers manually. Its a shame that jasper is so
    particular, but the iMT could not help you out here even if we wanted to. The
    constants that are used by the iMT are defined in
    com.iplanet.moko.jsp.convert.JspConversionConstants. From what I can see, the
    only situation of a closing tag with any space in it is
    public static final String CLOSE_EMPTY_ELEMENT = " />";
    But that should not cause the type of problem you are referring to.

    example: </content > doesn't work. </content> works.
    As I see it, we have two options to go about solving this problem:
    1. Write a script which will iterate through all the jsp files and
    call jspc on them. Fix the errors manually when jspc fails. Jspc will
    flag the line number where an error occurs.
    2. Write a utility which scans the jsp files and fix the errors when
    they are encountered. We should define what's an error and how to
    correct it. It's best if we combine this with solution 1 since we
    might miss an error condition.
    Actually, there might be another option, which is seeking help from
    you guys since you have better understanding of JATO and iAS. Can you
    do anything to help us?
    We would be happy to hear your thoughts.
    At last, I would like to suggest modifying the moko tool so that
    these rules are enforced and the generated JSPs work with the new
    compiler. This is for the benefit of any new migration projects.
    Thanks a lot.

    Thanks a lot Matt and Mike for your prompt replies.
    I agree completely that iMT doesn't introduce the inconsistencies.
    About the three cases I mentioned, the third one happens only in
    manually created JSPs. So it has nothing to do with iMT. The first
    two are mainly due to the existing HTML code, as you rightly pointed
    out.
    The reason I made the suggestion is since we know that case 1 and 2
    won't pass the japser compiler in sp3, we have to do something about
    it. The best place to do this, in my mind, is iMT. Of course, there
    might be some twists that make it impossible or difficult to do this
    kind of case manipulation or attribute discard.

  • HELP.....!!!!! Chinese jsp compilation problem.....

    Hi,
    Could someone please help on the above mentioned?
    I'm using JDeveloper 3.2.3 for my program development under Chinese windows platform. I have created a simple JSP page, which contains few static Chinese words and I have included the line
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8"%>
    at the top of the page. When I tried to compile it using encoding "UTF8" (under compiler option), the compiler gave me this error:
    C:\Program Files\Oracle\JDeveloper 3.2.3\myhtml\Chinese_html\ChineseList.jsp
    Error: (0) sun.io.MalformedInputException.
    Btw, when I have removed the line <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8"%> from the page and compile, I've got this error:
    C:\Program Files\Oracle\JDeveloper 3.2.3\myhtml\Chinese_html\ChineseList.jsp
    Warning: (0) ISO-8859-1 character set may not match project compiler setting.
    C:\Program Files\Oracle\JDeveloper 3.2.3\myhtml\Chinese_html\ChineseList.java
    Error: (0) malformed input character in C:\Program Files\Oracle\JDeveloper 3.2.3\myhtml\Chinese_html\ChineseList.java.
    I do appreciate your help on this. Thank you.

    Here's some info one of the JSP Developers sent me:
    1. HELP.....!!!!! Chinese jsp compilation problem.....
    The customer is trying to parse a document generated by
    Windows's notepad. When saved in UTF-8, the byte
    order mark is saved too. We have a know bug that
    JSP parser doesn't recognize Byte Order Mark. The
    bug is : 1915285.
    2. CHINESE CHARACTER ON JSP
    . SQLPLUS depends on NLS_LANG setting. If you
    check the windows registry, the default of NLS_LANG
    depends on the OS. The user environment is Traditional
    Chinese, so does NLS_LANG. If we set NLS_LANG
    to .UTF8, SQLPLUS dumps the data in UTF8, however,
    the command prompt will have problem displaying them.
    . For JSP, as mentioned in a previous mail:
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8" %> for all languages
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=GB2312" %> for simplified Chinese
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=Big5" %> for traditional Chinese
    . When you enter Chinese characters on a browser,
    the data is automatically converted to page encoding
    (UTF-8 in your case) before sent back to the server.
    But your receiving servlet/JSP needs to have request
    encoding set correctly.
        I'm not sure about the JDeveloper environment,
    but here is a simple JSP you may try to verify your
    OC4J environment:
    a.    To set up the schema:
    connect scott/tiger
    create table tab01(col varchar2(100));
    b. Edit the connect string in nls.jsp
    c. Run the nls.jsp in oc4j instance.
    <!-- nls.jsp -->
    <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" %>
    <%@ page import="oracle.jdbc.*,java.sql.*,java.io.*"%>
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE>Hello</TITLE></HEAD>

    MS Office for Mac does not really support Arabic.  But you may just have a font problem.  Disconnected letters means a Windows font is being used.  Change the font to a Mac font like Geeza Pro.
    For better Arabic support, try OpenOffice.

  • Reports 10 - 9 + Excel Jsp - Memory problem?

    Hi,
    If 9 Reports out of 10 work fine, and the last just hangs, I think that means it can't find enough memory.
    So how could I increase its own private area on an AIX server?
    And: What would the options be for the "vmstat" command to isolate a given report?
    Many thanks for your help

    Well, I think that's the main issue... this is the recorded activity with the machine just started. If I open for example Photshop (as I work with it) and a few other light programs, memory jumps pretty easily over 8GB and therefore system starts using swap working hard on the HD.
    I don't understand why with nothing running I only have 2GB available out of 8.
    Thanks

  • Insert to excel problem

    Hi all, i got a problem when using jsp to import some data to excel by importing org.apache.poi. Then, the excel contains macro , so when i use response.sendRedirect("xxx directory of the file xxx") to display that file, click enable the macro, the file cannot open and make the cpu usage very high, however it will not happen when the user choose disable macro. So, why would this happen? since i need to enable it to do other sorting part, or any other good way i can approach with the excel? Thank you very much.

    JSPs do one thing well - generate HTML. There aren't intended as general purpose transaction handlers and they certainly don't know how to generate XLS files.
    To generate an XLS file try the POI package, which you'll find links to from www.sourceforge.org.
    To generate one in a web server environment use a servlet, and call the POI classes from that.

  • Java variables calculation on change in JSP (Excel replica)

    I have a excel sheet that I need to replicate in JSP (using struts 1 framework). Now everything is done but I am stuck at the calculation part. As you might have seen in excel, some columns are calculations based on other columns.
    So if I change field 'a', 'd' field should change automatically based on its formula (let's say, d=a*1.1 +b*2.1).
    Now I tried to use the funstion in javascript where I read 'a' and 'b' values from JSP, then I calculate and everything works fine. But when I try to assign the calculation result for field 'd' in JSP throush javascript, 'd' does not change.
    function adjustCalcs ()
    var a = eval("document.form.al.value");
    var b = eval("document.form.b.value");
    var dCalc = ((a * 1.05) + (b * 1.1));
    document.form.d.value = dCalc ; (this is where it should change the value of field 'd' in JSP, but ti won't...donno why?)
    Or is there any better way to do these dynamic changes in JSP ? Would appreciate the insight.
    Thanks,

    Fine. What's your problem in JSP side then? Do you want to let Java take over the calculation and "dynamic stuff" ? Then you need to let Javascript submit the form to the server side during the change event so that JSP can then display the result using taglibs/EL. But this is less good for user experience as this costs effectively one HTTP request and the user would see a "flash of content". Alternatively you can use Ajax for this to do it all asynchronously.

  • Excel Problems with Mt Lion

    Funny with an Excel file with many sheets (14) on my 17" MacBook Pro, using Mail, if I click on the Excel file to open it, all I get a sheet however all the data does not display in the Excel file.
    However if I take the same file and drag it to my desktop, letting it create a new file then open the file all the data is in the Excel spread sheet.
    Just wondering if any one else is having a problem with Excel, Mail, & Mt Lion?
    thank you for any reply John

    I've upgraded to Leopard and also have had difficulty printing in excel (using Office for Mac 2004 Student/Teacher Ed)....Word, Powerpoint, and Entourage all print fine.....and I print fine off the internet and in Apple iWork (Numbers, Pages) and in "Mail" . REally strange.....
    I am able to open files in excel, but cannot print them....
    I'm a former PC guy.....very set in my ways (I was) until I bought my wife an iMac G5 last year, before Intel came out. Anyway....she loved the Mac so when my Laptop hard drive fried, I decide to take the plunge and am I glad i did......
    I'm frustrated about this glitch with excel in Leopard....but for those of us who have attempted to (and succeeded) upgrade Microsoft Operating systems (though you never really succeed....Microsoft just keeps fixing things...with new patches or new service packs!).....well you know what I mean....upgrading to Leopard was a breeze.....I just wish I could figure out this problem with printing in excel!
    I would drop excel and just use "Numbers", but I work with all PC users (using various versions of Office) so I need to make sure they can open my "Numbers and Pages" files and even amend them if needed,...which I don't know they can do??????? i know I just jumped subjects here...but anyone have any thoughts on this too?
    To summarize:
    1. problems printing in excel with Leopard upgrade on macbook.
    2. can PC users with Office 2004 (I don't think any use the new 2007)....open my files from email if I generate them with Numbers or Pages?
    Thanks,
    Steve D.

  • Script for the SAP report - download to excel - problem

    Hi all
    I know that similar problem had already been discussed but going through the solution presented in
    any of that topic I was not able to be successful  (I am beginner in terms of VBA and SAP scripting)
    What I would like to do is simply create the SAP script which based on the parameters filled
    in in the excel sheet (user form created) will connect to SAP and make the report which I would like to have saved on my local drive as an excel file.
    Everything is ok till the moment I would like to save it.  As you know SAP records the macro only till the moment some window pops up (where and under what name you would like to have your report  saved)
    Could you please advise  ?
    As a screen I attached also point where macro stops (maybe this makes difference)
    Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
    Below my code.
    Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
    Dim MojaData
    MojaData = ComboBox2.Value
    Dim Companycode
    Companycode = ComboBox1.Value
    Dim Depreciation_area
    Depreciation_area = ComboBox3.Value
    If Not IsObject(Application1) Then
    Set SapGuiAuto = GetObject("SAPGUI")
    Set Application1 = SapGuiAuto.GetScriptingEngine
    End If
    If Not IsObject(Connection) Then
    Set Connection = Application1.Children(0)
    End If
      If Not IsObject(session) Then
         Set session = Connection.Children(0)
      End If
    If IsObject(WScript) Then
    WScript.ConnectObject session, "on"
    WScript.ConnectObject Application1, "on"
    End If
    Dim sbar As String
    sbar = session.findById("wnd[0]/sbar").Text
    session.findById("wnd[0]").maximize
    session.findById("wnd[0]/tbar[0]/okcd").Text = "/n s_alr_87011990"
    session.findById("wnd[0]").sendVKey 0
    session.findById("wnd[0]/usr/ctxtBUKRS-LOW").Text = Companycode
    session.findById("wnd[0]/usr/ctxtSO_ANLKL-LOW").Text = ""
    session.findById("wnd[0]/usr/ctxtBERDATUM").Text = MojaData
    session.findById("wnd[0]/usr/ctxtBEREICH1").Text = Depreciation_area
    session.findById("wnd[0]/usr/ctxtSRTVR").Text = "0003"
    session.findById("wnd[0]/usr/radSUMMB").SetFocus
    session.findById("wnd[0]/tbar[1]/btn[8]").press
    session.findById("wnd[0]/mbar/menu[0]/menu[1]/menu[1]").Select

    MJ MJ - I cannot replicate a screen like you have to test it but here's what I would suggest:
    Immediately above the command that brings up the SAVE AS dialog, insert these lines:
    ... your code up to here.....
    FileName = "C:\Apps\Notifications.txt"     '<----- enter your save file path/name
    Wshell.run "C:\Apps\DataLoad.vbs " & FileName,1,False     '<-- call up the loader program
    ... then continue with your code....
    Then build a program "dataload.vbs" as follows:
    Dim FileNam2
    Set Wshell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    Do
    bWindowFound = Wshell.AppActivate("Save As")
    WScript.Sleep 1000
    Loop Until bWindowFound
    bWindowFound = Wshell.AppActivate("Save As")
    if (bWindowFound) Then
    Wshell.appActivate "Save As"
    WScript.Sleep 100
    Wshell.sendkeys "{TAB}"
    Wshell.sendkeys "{TAB}"
    Wshell.sendkeys "{TAB}"
    Wshell.sendkeys "{TAB}"
    Wshell.sendkeys "{TAB}"   'make 4 or 5 depending on the platform 4:XP, 5:Win7
    WScript.Sleep 100
    FileNam2 = WScript.Arguments.Item(0)
    Wshell.sendkeys FileNam2
    WScript.Sleep 100
    Wshell.sendkeys "{ENTER}"
    WScript.Sleep 100
    end if
    This should do the trick of copying your filename into the filename box in the SAVE AS dialog.As I said, I did not get to test it but that is the theory.
    Trial-and-error is the only way in many cases.
    Good luck
    Regards
    Umur

  • Smartview 11.1.2.2  Excel Problem

    Hello,
    I installed 11.1.2.2 smartview after uninstalling 11.1.1.3.5 as 11.1.2.2 has been certified to be backward compatible. Every time i open Excel i get the following message.
    C:\Hyperion\Smartview\Bin\HSTbar.xla could not be found. Check the spelling of the filename, and verify the file location is correct.
    Did anyone had this issue ? If so please let me know how to get rid of this issue.
    Thanks in advance

    I had a similar problem with an install of 11.1.2.1 where the uninstall of the older version left a registry entry behind. Try looking in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Excel\options] and there should be some OPEN commands in there for Smartview. I guess depending on the install it could be different, but I think the correct path would be C:\Oracle\Smartview\Bin\HsTbar.xla. If you see any OPEN commands with the directory you mention below (C:\Hyperion) I would think you would want to change or delete those (unless of course that is the right directory) and then renumber the remaining OPEN commands to be in sequential order.
    Obviously, backup the registry before trying any of this as this may be a completely unrelated problem from what I had.

  • JSP include problem

    I am facing problems with the JSP include functionality in my project.
    What I want to do is to include jsp files on the fly i.e depending on the business need I should be able to swap in and out jsps from the main jsp.
    I plan to do this by feeding the file names in a request attribute and then including the files in the order given.
    But on using the jsp:include there is no output generated by the included jsp.
    There is no error either in the log or in the page directly.
    Please help me in finding out what exactly is the issue here.
    the files are index.jsp --> rightRailIncludeFiles.jsp --> dynamically loaded jsps (These may themselves contain other included files)
    index.jsp
    <div id="right" class="testRight">
        <%@ include file="rightRailIncludeFiles.jsp" %>
    </div>
    rightRailIncludeFiles.jsp
    <%
        out.println("<h1>Dyna Include</h1>");
        String fileNames = (String)request.getAttribute("jspFiles");
        String[] fileList = fileNames.split(",");
        out.println("<!-- Files : " + fileNames + " -->");
    %>

    } catch(javax.servlet.ServletException e) {
    out.println("<h3 style=\"color:red\"> Error :"+e.getMessage()+"</h3>");
    %>
    *inlude_1.jsp (This file includes another file which has some common code)*<jsp:include page="include/inlude_1.jsp" flush="true">

    <jsp:param name="setType" value="${request.adSetType}" />

    <jsp:param name="height" value="${request.adHeight}" />

    Good morning,
    I am not sure that could be the real problem , but I guess your app server does not like the fact that you broke the try catch in two parts. In any case, you should not do that :) Mixing code and display is very painful for maintenance :)
    Have you tried to remove the jsp:include and see if the output is correctly produced?
    Best Regards
