JSP Home Interface Problems
Hi, I am havin some problems trying to create a home interface in a JSP from an enterprise bean, i am using the following code :
<%!
private AddressBook addressbook = null;
public void jspInit()
try
InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
Object objRef = ic.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/TheAddressBook");
AddressBookHome home = (AddressBookHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(objRef, AddressBookHome.class);
%> <%!
addressbook = home.create("a","a","a","a","a","a","a");
catch (RemoteException ex)
System.out.println("Couldn't create AddressBook bean."+ ex.getMessage());
catch (CreateException ex)
System.out.println("Couldn't create AddressBook bean."+ ex.getMessage());
catch (NamingException ex)
System.out.println("Unable to lookup home: "+ "AddressBook "+ ex.getMessage());
public void jspDestroy()
addressbook = null;
%>
<%
addressbook01 = home.create("b","a","a","a","a","a","a");
%>However i cannot access the home interface in the body of the JSP, i.e. where addressbook01 is trying to be created. Does anyone know a way around creating the home interface so that it is accessible in the body of the JSP?
cheers
Milan,
I will attempt to answer some of your questions. Others I need a little more detail on:
1. There isn't a way to run a JSP directly from JDeveloper to TomCat. Our internal server, Web-to-Go, is what we provide for local testing and debugging.
We do, however, support remote debugging JSPs against TomCat. You can find out more about how to set this up from the online help, and also from the JDev 3.1 Remote Debugging Online Demo Walkthroughs available on the JDeveloper OTN page.
2. I'm not sure why this is happening, but I would just answer 'No', if your edits are getting wiped out. I have not experienced this problem myself when I select 'Yes'.
3. Are these JSP files that JDeveloper has created (i.e. via the JSP Web Application Wizard), or ones you created yourself? Does this happen each time you open the project? What are your HTML source and root directories set to in your Project Properties? Are the JSP files located there?

Problem in compiling home interface
my home interface is this:
package examples;
public interface HelloHome extends javax.ejb.EJBHome
Hello create() throws java.rmi.RemoteException, javax.ejb.CreateException;
and on compiling i get the following error message:
cannot resolve symbol
symbol: class Hello
location: interface examples.HelloHome
Hello create() throws java.rmi.Exception,
^ javax.ejb.CreateException;
I have just started on ejbs can someone help.
thank you.Does anyone have an answer for this query? I'm experiencing the exact same problem...
Please give some insight into this situation. Maybe it's something very simple, but when you start out like me even the smallest problem is a big one.
thanX in advance for any help given -
EJB problem with home interface
Hi firends
I am beginner to EJB world, and trying first EJB object i.e. Hello World program
I prepared first Remote interface, HelloBean and it compiled also properly.
names of program
Remote interface : Hello
Bean: HelloBean
Home interface : HelloHome
But after preparing Home interface it fails to compile at position of create()
the declaration is
public Hello create() throws RemoteException,CreateException
compilation error pointing at Hello in above statement saying 'Cannot resolve symbol'
The fact is all these files are located in same directory only
can anyone help me in this problem as I am eger to execute my first program and want to go further in EJB
thanx in advance
MandarHi Mandar,
How are you setting the classpath and what exactly is it set to?
Unresolved symbol can only mean that the class cannot be found in the classpath. If two files are in the same directory and one has a dependency on the other then adding '.' to the classpath is all that is needed. Questions to ask yourself. Are the files in the same directory? does either include a 'package' statement? and are you absolutely certain that the classpath is set correctly (type 'set' at the command line)? Also if you have set the CLASSPATH variable, using -classpath with the javac command will override the variable.
Check everything above and if you still have problems maybe we can get some more details if you can post the entire error message.

ClassNotFound while narrowing JNDI ref to ejb home interface
Hello everybody
I'm quite new to BEA WebLogic. I deployed Jasmine application on Bea WLS7 (example
app from Mastering EJB 2). But when i tried to use login servlet, it threw an
exception ClassNotFound when narrowing ejb home interface (obtained via JNDI).
EJBs are in .jar file, and web files are in the .war file, maybe this is the problem.
Should I copy ejb classes to .war file, or make some tricks with CLASSPATH, or
maybe there is better way to make it work (maybe via J2EE references or something
like this).
Thanks in advanceStrange. And you do not have any application classes in the system
classpath?

Yes, both were packed up into one .ear archive>>

Servlet - EJB, caching home & context problem
Hello,
I just run into the following problem:
I created a thin client which accesses the EJB's via a servlet.
In this servlet I cached the InitialContext und and the reference
to the Home interface. While creating the initial context I provided
login/password to access the EJB so it can't be accessed from the guest
user.
The first method call works as expected, any further call results
in a RemoteException - Insufficent permissions.
Any hints? I'm using 5.1, SP6.
Zhanxs in advance
MarcelThe security creditials you suppplied to the IntialContext are only applied
to the thread that created the InitialContext. I have only found one
work-around - Construct an otherwise useless IntialContext each time a
thread attempts to use and EJB or its home. This is inefficient and almost
(not quite) destroys the advantage of caching the stubs.
Is there any other solution? Any thing coming down the pike?

Error in accessing the create method declared in Home interface
hi,
I have create method in home interface which takes the following syntax:
public ShipRemote create(ShipPK id,String name,int capacity,float tonnage) throws CreateException,RemoteException;
In the client I create a remote object and try to call this create method, but I get a compilation error :
it says unable to resolve the symbol with a cursor pointing the create method
interface sampleEJB.ship.shipInfo.ShipHome ShipRemote remoteRef=(ShipRemote)homeRef.create(spk,sname,5000,100.7);
how can i resolve this.
I have implemented this create method in my beanhi i have compiled the client interfaces and the bean successfully.
I have also imported the classes in the in the client code .
I even deployed my jar successfully, but i have problem in accessing the create method specified .
thank you -

JNDI lookups of home interface
JNDI lookups are expensive timewise. Our question is ... would it be
pratical to lookup all our EJB Home interfaces once at startup and store
these references in a global class accessible to all clients? These home
interfaces then become readily available factories for acquiring instances
of remote interfaces. Is there anything wrong with this picture? Is this a
problem because these home stubs are not reentrant and may be accessed
concurrently by more than one client? Is there a problem with have one home
reference create multiple remote references of an ejb?
Any light that can be shed on this question wouls be appreciated.
Thanks.
tiffany
San DiegoI'm using a Singleton class to cache HomeInterfaces. The first time a
HomeInterface is requested, the JNDI lookup is done, after that, all
requests to that HomeInterface are handled by the cache. Works great, no
problems. AFAIK there are no problems with storing the HomeInterface
reference and reusing it.
Hope that helps,
Nils

Why do we need a home interface and remote interface for a ejb.
Must these interfaces be there for each ejb?Why do we need a home interface and remote interface
for a ejb.The Home interface is like a factory for getting to your beans. The remote interface is what you use to speak "directly" to the bean. It's remote because the bean is usually on a remote server somewhere (not in the same VM as your client code). The same is true for the home interface in terms of it being remote.
The corresponding LocalHome and Local interfaces are for use when the bean in question is not remote.
Must these interfaces be there for each ejb?You need either a Home and Remote or LocalHome and Local interface for all beans except Message Driven Beans. -
Home sharing problem: I have never set up home sharing but I feel I the concept and how it works. I recently (last 2 months or so) deauthorized, first time ever, all computers with my iTunes account. I have 3 computers authorized. I am trying to set up home sharing but get iTunes says:
"Home Sharing could not be activated because this computer is not authorized for the Apple Id "#########@###.com". Would you like to authorize now?" I click "authorize" and get the next error " You cannont authorize more than 5 computers. You have already authorized 5 computers with this Apple ID. To authorize this computer you must first deauthorize one of the other computers."
Can someone help or shed more light on my problem?
Thanks,
RichardHome Sharing is designed to work on your local network not across the internet/cloud.
Stuff is accessed under the Computers column where your local iTunes library on a local computer would appear.
Home Sharing would share your iTunes content (i.e. stuff stored in itunes on the computer, not in the cloud) with AppleTV or an iPad etc on the SAME network.
AppleTV2 will not be able to see itunes content on the work computer over the internet. It's not designed to. if the work computer was on the home network it would.
iCloud is in it's infancy and is not a mature product - iTunes TV Show purchases appear on AppleTV, but currently music does not unless you are subscribed to iTunes Match. I find this rather odd to be honest, along with the inability to buy music on AppleTV2. Movies purchased in iTunes are not authorised for iCloud viewing currently either.
Maybe it has something to do with iTunes Match 'getting in the way' - i think they assume you'll use that whereas you really want to be able to access Purchased music from the cloud without subscribing to itunes Match which is overkill for some.

I don't understand, because as of EJB 3.0, you don't really need a home or local-home interface anymore...Using @SecurityDomain("exemplo1") in my EJB and NOT providing jboss.xml, it works.
@SecurityDomain("exemplo1")
@RolesAllowed("yyy")
@Stateless(name="UserManagement")
public class UserManagementBean implements UserManagement {
public void add(User user) {
}Damn! This is some serious shit... I dont want to configure this in every single EJB.
EJB 3.0 is nice, but some small trivial details like this and others, that was forgotten by Sun, piss me off! -
I can use Mail at home, no problem. But when I travel, I can receive mail but not send it. I get a "server can't be reached" message. Yet when I send a photo using iPhoto, it gets sent. Help!!
To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try the following:
*Restart the operating system in '''[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_mode safe mode with Networking]'''. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode Windows 8], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows 7], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-vista Windows Vista], [http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true" Windows XP], [http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564 OSX]
; If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates. -
How to find out local or home interface was used ?
Hi !
are there any ways in the code of methods ejbCreate and ejbRemove in my entity EJB to find out were they called via local or home interface provided that my bean has both local or home interfaces ?
Thenks in advance.Why should you care, this logic should only be implemented in the client (SEJB or Servlet). Even then it should only be used to check if there is a LocalHomeInterface. If not you get the RemoteHomeInterface. I don't understand the question completely.

Interface Problems in Yosemite
Problem shows up when using software other than the native OS X apps.
If I attempt to close a window behind the app that has focus by clicking the red x part of the semaphore buttons (top left on every window) it will not work unless I change focus to that app by clicking the bar at the top.
As an example if I'm using Byword to view a document while composing an email in Airmail once I finished and move on to viewing, say a receipt, in Airmail and want to make a copy of that receipt and place it on the desktop. I'm done with Byword and it is covering the desktop so why not close it and get it out of the way. I move the mouse pointer over the red X part of the semaphore buttons and click, nothing happens. I have to bring Byword into focus by clicking the title bar, then click the red x to finally close the window. If the app below Airmail happened to be Safari the red X works properly.
On my Mac Mini using Yosemite this works properly for all apps.
This is only a slight problem but I have been having the odd quirky interface problems for the past while and I'm worried that something has gone south and these may end up adding together to make a very large problem. Initially I had problems with PopClip which seemed to be screwing around with the interface buttons in Rapidweaver 6. I removed the app to clear that problem using AppDelete.
While trying to diagnose this problem I have removed all the auto login apps that I can and rebooted several times to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
