JSP not reloading with weblogic 4.5.1 & SP13

Hi All,
          We are using weblogic 4.5.1 & We recently upgraded to service pack 13 on Sun
          Solaris 2.6, JDK1.1.7b
          It seems that the JSP gets recompiled if the JSP-file changes(in fact for
          each hit from browser, its compiling again!!), but some times it isn't
          reloaded (the changes are not visible in the generated HTML-file).
          It seems, whenever JSP changes, weblogic recognizing that JSP has changed &
          its compiling. But its SOME TIMES not reloading the class. So whenever
          new request come from browser for that JSP, again its compiling the JSP!!
          but again its not reloading. If I restart the weblogic server, its working
          fine. BUt we don't want to bounce the server for each change in JSP..
          Any help is appreciated.
          thanks,
          -ramu

          Make sure that your JSP workingDir is NOT in your WEBLOGICCLASSPATH. If it is - the JSP will load correctly
          or compile and load correctly the first time. Afterwards it will compile, but not reload.

  • JSP Refresh Problems with Weblogic 8.1

    While Integration testing with Weblogic 8.1, when I make any changes in the Java classes (like interface changes), the JSPs are not able to recognize them. If the interface being used by a JSP changes, the JSP starts giving compilation errors. The other Java classes of the project though, run fine with the changes.
    Have wasted a lot of time in this situation . PLEASE ANY1 HELP!!!
    regards,
    SR

    Not sure on the first problem, store-version-in-cache is a valid element. Make sure you are using the same version of the Mapping Workbench and the runtime library. Please attach the XML for the version locking policy that was generated and the error message.
    The abstract method error seems to indicate that the setFetchSize method is missing on your driver.
    setFetchSize has been part of JDBC and JDK since JDBC 2.0/JDK 1.2, how old is the driver that you are trying to use? I noticed the COM is uppercase, so I assume this is a very old driver, can you use the more update version? TopLink requires JDK 1.3 support as a minimum.

  • JSP Not Working with Thin Driver

    My JSP is not working with Oracle thin driver but it is working with Oracle OCI driver.
    From my jsp i am calling a stored procedured and passing 170 parameters to the procedure. This JSP works with Oracle OCI Driver configured as thrid party drivers in iAS6.0 SP2, but not working with Oracle Thin Driver configured as third party drivers in iAS6.0. My thin driver JDBC Connection URL is as follows:
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION =(ADDRESS_LIST =(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = MAPDBI01)(PORT = 1521)))(CONNECT_DATA =(SID = MAPS))).
    I have to give this URL because my production server deployment consists of iWS4.1 SP5 and iAS6.0 SP2 in different solaris boxes and Oracle 8.1.7 Database server in another Solaris Box. There is a pool of proxy servers between iAS6.0 box and the oracle box.

    Wim,
    I'd really appreciate it if you could provide some sample code. A complete, small, simple java class that I could copy and try out would be wonderful -- if it's not too much trouble.
    Thanks heaps (in advance :-),
    Avi.

  • How to switch to a different JSP / EL implementation with WebLogic 10g?

    Hi everyone,
    we have a web application (JSP + servlets), that runs fine on Tomcat 5.5. We are porting it to WebLogic 10g3 - we've solved all of the issues except one. Some of the EL expressions are processes correctly in Tomcat, but it fails in WebLogic.
    For example we have a custom tag (component inherited from a SimpleTag), that renders a combobox. The component has "textExpression" attribute, that it evaluated like
    String text = (String) pageContext.getExpressionEvaluator().evaluate(textExpr, String.class, pageContext.getVariableResolver(), null);
    but if the expression has two parts - i.e. something like "{...} {...}" - the parse fails, for example with the following exception:
    javax.servlet.jsp.el.ELParseException: Error occured while trying to parse '${(option.partner.jmeno eq null && option.partner.prijmeni eq null && option.partner.nazevSpolecnostiFoPo ne null) ? option.partner.nazevSpolecnostiFoPo : option.partner.jmeno } ${(option.partner.jmeno eq null && option.partner.prijmeni eq null && option.partner.nazevSpolecnostiFoPo ne null) ? '' : option.partner.prijmeni}'
    weblogic.jsp.internal.jsp.el.ExpressionEvaluatorImpl.parseEL(ExpressionEvaluatorImpl.java:171)
    weblogic.jsp.internal.jsp.el.ExpressionEvaluatorImpl.parseExpression(ExpressionEvaluatorImpl.java:134)
    weblogic.jsp.internal.jsp.el.ExpressionEvaluatorImpl.evaluate(ExpressionEvaluatorImpl.java:125)
    Is it possible to switch the JSP / EL engine to Jasper? I'd expect some property pointing to ExpressionEvaluator implementation / parameter in the deployment descriptor but I haven't found anything like that yet.
    thanks
    Tomas

    Anyway I've achieved some progress with the Jasper - I've found that when precompiled using the JspC compiler from Jasper package, the resulting servlets are inherited from org.apache.jasper.runtime.HttpJspBase and thus should probably use the "proper" JSP EL implementation. But I still can't use these servlets from Weblogic, as I receive java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class org.apache.jasper.runtime.PageContextImpl.

    I have a problem with a signed applet. The applet is signed correctly

  • Index.html as a link not working with Weblogic 6.0 SP2

    we use weblogic as a webserver with one of our web applications.
              The index.html page is a soft link pointing to one of 2 pages.
              1 page is a site up page and the other is a site down page.
              Using a soft link worked fine with WL60 sp1 but when we moved to SP2

    Terry,
              This is a known problem, and CR058420 was opened to address this
              issue. For 6.0, there is not a patch available. The recommended
              solution is to upgrade to 6.1 and apply the appropriate patch.

  • Configuring PAM login modules with weblogic 6.1

    I am trying to configure my own PAM login module to work on the same JVM as weblogic.
    I have my own security policy that does not rely on weblogic however when trying
    to login after creating a specific login context :
    LoginContext loginContext = new LoginContext("XXLogin",subject,
    callbackHandler);
    loginContext.login();
    The JVM tries to invoke weblogic's own internal server login module. It looks
    for the callback the login module uses and then fails.
    The same problem ocurrs at weblogic startup. Weblogic appears to overide the -Djava.security.auth.login.config=jaas.config
    with their own login configuration file:WLHOME\lib\server.policy. Is this supposed
    to be a standard PAM login configuration file or weblogic's own interpretation
    of it ? (It is called a policy file which normally relates to grants and permissions
    in JAVA). Anyway we modified this file to include our own login module under a
    different AuthenticationConfigurationName. However weblogic attempted to use our
    login module as well as their own. According to the jaas api when creating a login
    context the application configuration name is specified however weblogic appears
    to be ignoring this !! Also we have found that a PAM configuration file that we
    had did not parse with weblogic, however it worked with the standard PAM configuration
    file parser. This implies that weblogic does not use the standard parser. Any
    help welcome !!

    Hi Parthasarathy,
    Thanks for the pointer. Your suggestion was the first step to getting our Security
    Model to be compatible with the WebLogic 6.1 model. As suggested I removed the
    the default LoginModule (ServerLoginModule) from the Server.policy file and replaced
    it with our Login Module. Then we defined JVM properties for the weblogic.management.password
    property in the startweblogic command file to supply the authentication information
    required by WebLogic.
    The next problem that I encountered was that we use files in the jaas.jar for
    Authorisation when I tried to access these files (e.g. javax.security.auth.Policy)
    I got a sealing violation as the JVM had previously loaded other class files in
    this package from the weblogic.jar (as weblogic uses these files for authorisation).
    It was possible to get around this problem by putting the jaas.jar ahead of the
    weblogic.jar in the classpath.
    After this I just needed to set up permissions in the weblogic.policy file for
    authorisation and we were there.
    Regards
    Paul

    the Server.policy file and replace the name of the

    what technology are you using for Tuxedo or weblogic connectivity? If WTC then you can. if Jolt then you can't because tuxedo 8.1 jolt is not compatible with weblogic 10.3

    Hi,
    1] Remove following from server.xml
    <Context path="/SEA" docBase="SEA" debug="0"/>
    2] Paste SEA.WAR (test WAR file) into /webapps of TOMCAT
    3] Start Tomcat Server - This will create SEA folder under webapps
    4] Stop server.
    5] Add following to server.xml
    <Context path="/SEA" docBase="SEA" debug="0"/>
    6] Start Tomcat Server
    7] Access the URL.
    This will work. Somehow Tomcat does not extract war file contents which are mentioned in server.xml.
    I have Apache Tomcat 4.0.3 and faced this problem. The above solution works for it.

    I created a jar file of the required classes, and placed it in the same directory as the jsp file. My jsp code then looked like:
    <jsp:plugin type="applet" code="nz.astarte.ganttapplet.GanttApplet"
    codebase="."
    archive="GanttApplet.jar"
    jreversion="1.3.1"
    width="400" height="175">
    <jsp:fallback>
    Plugin support could not be determined
    </jsp:fallback>
    </jsp:plugin>
    This works fine. However I would expect to be able to move the jar file to some other directory, so that the jar file and jsp files are separated. I spent hours trying to work out why it wouldn't work when I had the jar
    file in WEB-INF/classes (under the jsp file directory) and had codebase="WEB-INF/classes/". In the end I put the jar file into a directory I defined separately called wotnot and defined codebase="wotnot/"
    Now it works. However I still think I should be able to have the jar file anywhere, including WEB-INF/classes and would love for someone to tell me why not!
    Thanks, Andrew

  • JSP: work with TomCat 5.5.9 and NOT work with TomCat 6.0.16

    Hi all,
    I'm Antony and I have a problem with a .JSP page of my server.
    In my server there are 2 users: "u1" and "u2"; there are 2 TomCat, version 5.5.9 and version 6.0.16. There is Apache WebServer version 2. The 2 TomCat servers have the same configuration files: server.xml and web.xml (in the dir /conf of the main server's root). They not work simultaneously.
    When the user "root" launch the TomCat 5.5.9 all work fine: the server will show correctly the JSP pages of "u1" and the pages of "u2".
    When the user "root" launch the TomCat 6.0.16 the JSP pages of "u1" work fine but the JSP pages of "u2" not work: it seems that there are problems with the path where the server want to search the pages of u2.
    In the server.xml there is this code (for the handle of u2's site):
    <Host name="u2site.com" appBase="/home/u2/public_html/">
      <Alias>www.u2site.com</Alias>
      <Context path="" reloadable="false" docBase="/home/u2/public_html/" debug="0"/>
              <Context path="/manager" debug="0" privileged="true"
                  docBase="/usr/local/jakarta/tomcat/server/webapps/manager">
              </Context>
    </Host>and this code (for the u1's site)
    <Host name="u1site.com" appBase="/home/u1/public_html/">
      <Context path="" reloadable="false" docBase="/home/u1/public_html" debug="1"/>
              <Context path="/manager" debug="0" privileged="true"
                  docBase="/usr/local/jakarta/tomcat/server/webapps/manager">
              </Context>
    </Host>The problems with the JSP pages of u2 are one of the following:
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: /login2.jsp(4,0) The value for the useBean class attribute com.u2.beans.access.Autenticator is invalid.and this one that appear with the pages that have the inclusion of another JSP page
    /u2page.jsp(3,0) File "/../support/_formatting.jsp" not foundI think that the TomCat know how to find the page that the browser request to Apache WebServer (and that the webserver request to Tomcat by the connector) 'cause for pages that haven't inclusion or call to method in packages all work fine...but the TomCat have problems to locate the pages included or the method located in a JAR (the jars are located in WEB-INF/lib/ of the u2's site).
    How I can resolve this problem with TomCat 6.0.16? I repeat that with TomCat 5.5.9 all work fine...same configuration!
    Any ideas?
    Thank you very much,
    Antony.

    Hi stevejluke, 'cause in the page "/supporto/_formatting.jsp" there are only the definition of some variables it's normal that the output at the browser it's a blank page.
    The problem it's that Tomcat 6.0.16 cannot know how "navigate" the pages beginning from one...it know where is the "x.jsp" page requested directly by Apache WebServer, where is "y.jsp" request directly by Apache, where is "z.jsp" requested directly by Apache but if "x.jsp" request, includes, "y.jsp" Tomcat cannot know where "y.jsp" is located. There is some file where I can "say" this to Tomcat?
    The page "/mostre/elenco_mostre.jsp" includes directly the "/supporto/_formatting.jsp".
    Another thing: in /mostre/elenco_mostre.jsp there is an inclusion directive for /supporto/_formatting.jsp that is so:
    <%@ include file="../supporto/_formatting.jsp"%>you can see that the included file is "../supporto/_formatting.jsp" and NOT "/../supporto/_formatting.jsp"...the "/" at the begin of the path is included by Tomcat!
    In the catalina.out there are this lines, when the page is called:
    Jul 6, 2008 3:15:00 AM org.apache.catalina.core.StandardWrapperValve invoke
    SEVERE: Servlet.service() for servlet jsp threw exception

    Maybe the problem it's that Tomcat want the conf file in "Server/Service/Engine/Host/Context" ? I must move the block HOST of the server.xml file in this path?
    Good Sunday and thank you!

  • Java Webconsole ELResolvers for JSR not registered with the JSP container

    Trying to rebuild a LDAP server running Directory Server 6.1. Just installed Solaris 10 u9 on a SunFire V240. Loaded most recent recommended patch set dated 2011.02.02. Anyone have an idea what is causing this problem for the JAVA webconsole and how to fix it?

    hi,
    it is tomcat-6.0.20, JSF-RI 2.0.2 (Mojarra)
    a whole bunch of libs and jquery4jsf (though really buggy in this manner, because all components could you rewrite for JSF2-components, etc.)
    Unfortunately it is somehow a config error, because i haven't got it earlier, since i changed PhaseListener and Authentification with JAAS (sample from Ed Burns:
    http://weblogs.java.net/blog/2006/03/07/repost-using-jaas-jsf, but with JDBC-based authentification)
    cheers,

  • Pre_compiling jsp's with weblogic.jspc error

    Hi all,
    Im using weblogic 11g weblogic.jspc to try to pre-compile JSP's that were created with struts 1.2.x under OC4J 9.0.x.
    The jsp's do compile under OC4J's jsp compiler.
    Im getting many errors that seem to be related to the version difference between struts1.2.x used with OC4J and the struts bundled with weblogic.
    I'm trying to "force" the weblogic.jspc to use the older version of struts but have not been successful.
    This is on Windows XP SP4 box.
    So far I've tried:
    adding the -classpath option
    adding the -d option to specify a directory
    adding the -backwardcompatible option
    adding the -librarydir option
    here's my command line format:
    java weblogic.jspc -classpath .;c:\...\struts.jar;WEB-INF\struts-bean.tld;c:\...\struts-validator.jar;c:\...\struts-nested.jar;c:\...\strutstest2.0.0.jar...
    -backwardcompatible -d WEB-INF addNote.jsp
    heres a sample of output:
