JSP on NT server

Can we run jsp on NT server

yes ofcourse but not in IIS, you need Tomcat or some other servlet container for NT.

  • What is the difference between jsp :include and server side include

    what is the difference between jsp :include and server side include(request dispatcher include method)????
    i understand that both request dispatcher include method and jsp:include take dynamic data,so when would one use request dispatcher include and when jsp:include.
    Is the usage interchangeable?i believe jsp include is used only for jsp/html but include directive can be used to include servlets ,jsp and html....correct me if i m wrong and
    do suggest if u hav ny other diff in this context...

    The difference really is: in what format do you want your inclusions? If your environment has many Java developers and only a few designers that focus mainly on, say, Flash, that might push you more towards the server-side include() directive. Or, if you have a large set of pages that receive dynamic content that is displayed in a consistent fashion (such as a workflow header area on a page).
    If, on the other hand, you have more web designers, there may be a greater desire to deal in markup rather than Java code. Java developers themselves might prefer to view markup (JSP) that more resembles the eventual output than something occuring in Java code.
    Finally, there are considerations of tiering. While it is totally possible to (and I have previously) implement 'view classes' that render markup or generate layout templates, JSP's offer, IMO, a subtle, psychological advantage. By forcing a developer to work in a different format, markup versus Java source, the separation on view from controller and model becomes a bit easier. It is still possible to make mistakes, but if a developer at some point notices, "Wait, I'm in a JSP, should I be importing a java.sql class?", then the choice to use JSP includes has paid off in spades.

  • How to forward from a jsp  to another jsp on another server

    I am facing issue in forwarding to a jsp residing in another server. While using response.redirect(url), the response is send back to the browser and then redirected(which is not expected as it would create problem in production). i am facing issue while using the <jsp: forward> tag and forward() as they seem to be taking relative URL. Please help me with this issue.

    probably, you could use <c:redirect url=""/> tag to request to jsp on another server and pass ur parameters as 'GET' so that u can get all your respective params values. Other way (or crude) way is to do a scoket or HttpConnection to post your all datas via 'POST' and expect respective values on the server side.

  • Help with customised login JSP on SSO server

    Our customised version of the SSO login page JSP is required to access a database table in order to retrieve a dynamic message to display. This means we will need to create utility java classes in order to connect to the database and retrieve the information. We will also ideally need a data source on the SSO APP Server that we can reference in order to avoid hard-coding environment specific connection data.
    Can anyone help out on where we will need to install the utility classes and where the data source can be created in order for the login JSP to see them. Is there any other configuration we need to consider e.g. classpaths etc?
    The coding we are fine with, it is the actual "what goes where and don't forget to include this" that we are unsure of.

    Hello St***,
    Did you accomplished the cusomized SSO logon page with database access. If yes can you please provide met with some examples and instructions how to accomplish this.

    I am trying to set up a local host JSP server, do you know any good youtube or tutorials in general that would help me set up a local host JSP server? Or could you post the steps here and your source (if any).
    I am looking for something similar to XAMPP as in this youtube tutorial: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=KWRB-maTVyM&feature=rec-fresh However, any help would be greatly appreciated.
    By the way, I am very new to JSP and was wondering, XAMPP includes Apache, is Apache a JSP server?

    You need a Java web container to run JSP/Servlets. A commonly used one is Apache Tomcat. It is not the same as Apache HTTP Server which can only serve static files.
    You can find Tomcat here: [http://tomcat.apache.org].
    How to install/use it, just check the User Guide: [http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/index.html].

  • Where does Javascript run within a JSP in Commerce Server

              I am currently using BEA Commerce Server and written some JSPs to be used in the
              application. I am trying to carry out some validation of some fields in my JSP
              and thats how javascript came up.
              The question I have is that does the javascript that I want to put on the jsp
              run on the server or on the client like a normal html page? The questiion sounds
              basic but I am considering writing a class to carry out validation as the user
              could turn off javascript on browser.

    The Javascript is returned inside the page, just as if it were a static
              .html file that you had put Javascript into. Thus it works entirely on the
              client. The client is unaware of whether a JSP engine put the page together
              or whether it is was just a static HTML file.

  • Not able to run jsp on content server

    Hi,
    I am trying to create home page for the website using file type as jsp. File creation was successful but when I try to run the web page, instead of launching the web page its asking to save the file. Can any one let me know whats the problem. Is there any setting needs to be done for jsp pages.
    Thanks,
    Abhijit

    if you do a view source is the jsp outputting any HTML at all?
    can you tell if the page is loading and just not displaying?
    You might also want to check the server output.
    To see that you can selecte "System Audit Information" from your Admin Menu option (you must be logged in with sysadmin privileges to see this)
    Click "view server output" link on the menu bar.

  • Calling a external Java method from JSP - using Tomcat server

    Hi all,
    I am trying to call a method in an external Java file from my JSP. I am using Tomcat server.
    I have my class within the package package "mypackage" and it is called myclass.class. It has only one static method mymethod() which reads from a file and writes to a file.
    I compiled the java class and I put the class file under webapps/ROOT/web-inf/classes/mypackage/myclass.class
    I am trying to say something like this from my JSP file(which is under webapps/ROOT) :
    <%@ page import = "mypackage.myclass"%>
    <% myclass.mymethod(); %>
    I am not instatiating the class as its a static method.
    This is what I get while accessing my jsp file :
    javax.servlet.ServletException: try to access class mypackage.myclass from class org.apache.jsp.index_005ftest_jsp
    To put my problem in a nutshell, Can someone guide me how to access a method of an external class from a JSP page? I have a bunch of pages doing the same operation so I thought I would have it in a method and call it from every page. Even though I tried to put the file under web-inf/classes, The JSP is not able to see the class.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    -Uday

    I have a situation that is a bit similar. I have successfully used beans for storing methods used in JSPs and used by other methods in the same class as was suggested above. Now I would like to break some methods into another (utility) class since they are lower level and can be used by lots of things. They are for database operations (given a String query and String dbname, it queries and returns ResultSet for example). I want to have them in a separate class for reusability and OOP.
    I am having problems calling those public static methods in the public class from my bean that communicates with the JSP. I can't compile the class that calls the method in the database ops class. I get an error like :
    loginHelper.java:45: cannot find symbol
    symbol : variable sqlHelper
    location: class dbHelperBean.loginHelper
    and when I include the package name in the call I get
    loginHelper.java:45: cannot find symbol
    symbol : class sqlHelper
    location: package dbHelperBean
    That's strange since the package of both classes is dbHelperBean and the class is indeed called sqlHelper. I tried to compile it in the same directory as sqlHelper as well. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks for any help.

  • Including the output of a jsp in one server into the a jsp in another serve

    Hi,
    I have a web server(w1) which contains a jsp file (jsp1).
    I have an application server(a1) which contains a jsp file (jsp2).
    Both w1 and a1 are running in different machines.
    I want the output of jsp2 to be inserted into jsp1.
    The control should always be in jsp1. Just like a method call jsp2 should be executed and results are to be included in jsp1.
    Hope my explaination is clear.
    include tag is not working for the above scenario.
    Can anybody help me with a piece of code.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sathish E.

    Why don't you just create a new URL object to jsp2 read in the stream and write it into jsp1.
    For example:
    // this is jsp1
    URL url = new URL( "http://www.somewhere/jsp2" );
    HttpURLConnection con = ( HttpURLConnection ) url.openConnection();
    con.setRequestMethod( "POST" );
    con.setAllowUserInteraction( true );
    con.setDoInput( true );
    con.setDoOutput( true );
    // Post any arguments here.
    OutputStream os = con.getOutputStream();
    os.write( ( "FNAME=" + fName + "&LNAME=" + lName ).getBytes() );
    os.flush();
    reader = new BufferedReader( new InputStreamReader( con.getInputStream() ) );
    // Read response from jsp2
    while ( ( line = reader.readLine() ) != null )
    // write the response into jsp1
    out.println( line );
    Hope this helps,
    Nick

    I'm using the Sun Reference Implementation of J2EE. I'm deploying a session EJB in one J2EE app on one machine, and accessing it from a JSP in another J2EE app on another machine. My lookup code that is called from the JSP first sets the properties of the InitialContext as follows:

    I'm going to answer my own question, because I kept searching the forums and eventually found the answer... maybe someone else in the same situation will find this answer here too. I got the answer from the following thread:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=13&thread=256151
    Basically, if you are doing a JNDI lookup with "java:comp/env" prefixed to the JNDI name, the app server will try to do a lookup within the current machine. If you leave that prefix off, it will look up using whatever properties you set in the InitialContext. At least, this is how I understood it from the thread I mentioned above.

  • Inserting date from a jsp into sql server 2005 database

    i need hint or code to insert the date get from the jsp page to database.
    i am using a servlet to do all database related things. i.e making connections, executing prepared statement queries
    thanks
    sekar.

    The variable needs to be outside of the string to be recognized as a variable. You need to remove the variable from the string, then concatinate it onto the string (and concatinate any remaining string parts - the closing paren). For example:
    stmt.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO table VALUES ('test', " + companyID + ")");
    Hope that's clear enough and helps. Good luck on your thesis!

  • Unable to compile JSP in Java Server
