copied class111.jar,classnsl.jar,class12.jar to catalina_home\libNope, wrong. You should be using the newer JDBC driver from Oracle, and you only need one. Why put 111 and 12 versions there? That's the right place to put them, though.
unable to connect to database yet No code. Can't tell.

Upload file in JSP with Oracle Database 10gR2
How to upload file with oracle database 10gR2??
i can't find how to upload..
i've tried to create a procedure in oracle and execute in netbeans but the file save in directory and then from directory save to database.
it means the file save in 2 location, in directory and database..
does anybody know how to save file direct from the JSP file into database without save in directory?
this is the procedure..
create or replace PROCEDURE load_file (
p_id number,
p_photo_name in varchar2) IS
src_file BFILE;
dst_file BLOB;
lgh_file BINARY_INTEGER;
BEGIN
src_file := bfilename('DIR_TEMP', p_photo_name);
-- insert a NULL record to lock
INSERT INTO temp_photo
*(id, photo_name, photo)*
VALUES
*(p_id , p_photo_name ,EMPTY_BLOB())*
RETURNING photo INTO dst_file;
-- lock record
SELECT photo
INTO dst_file
FROM temp_photo
WHERE id = p_id
AND photo_name = p_photo_name
FOR UPDATE;
-- open the file
dbms_lob.fileopen(src_file, dbms_lob.file_readonly);
-- determine length
lgh_file := dbms_lob.getlength(src_file);
-- read the file
dbms_lob.loadfromfile(dst_file, src_file, lgh_file);
-- update the blob field
UPDATE temp_photo
SET photo = dst_file
WHERE id = p_id
AND photo_name = p_photo_name;
-- close file
dbms_lob.fileclose(src_file);
END load_file;Well your Oracle procedure is designed to load a file, so that's what it does. If you want it to load from a data stream such as an upload, you need to rewrite it accordingly.
So far this is not a Java question at all. -

I am using a servlet that retrieves the BLOB from the database, sets the MIME type and puts it in a stream. The code is :
package TestQueryITM;
import javax.servlet.*;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
import java.io.*;
import java.util.*;

public class MIMEServlet extends HttpServlet {
DbConnect myDbBean = new DbConnect();
int Id=6;
String MIME ="plain/text";
public void init(ServletConfig config) throws ServletException
super.init(config);
public void doGet(HttpServletRequest req,HttpServletResponse res)
throws ServletException, IOException
try
String content_type = new String();
String filename = new String();
// Load the Oracle JDBC driver:
Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
// Connect to the database:
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection

// It's faster when auto commit is off:
conn.setAutoCommit (false);
// Create a Statement:
Statement stmt = conn.createStatement ();
try
BLOB lob_loc = null;
java.io.InputStream in = null;
int pos = 0;
int length = 0;
OracleResultSet rset = (OracleResultSet) stmt.executeQuery (
"SELECT text FROM test WHERE ID = "+Id);

lob_loc = ((OracleResultSet)rset).getBLOB(1);
MIME=rset.getString(2);
// File binaryFile = new File("C:/aantekeningen.doc");
// FileInputStream in = new FileInputStream(binaryFile);
in = lob_loc.getBinaryStream();
// This loop fills the buf iteratively, retrieving data // from the InputStream:

Problem in Oracle Database Connectivity in JSP
I am having big problem such as Oracle Database connectivity problem
Following code i am used for database connection. but it throw an exception call class not found exception.
Pls any one can help me. With a sample code for Oracle Database connection in JSP
Class.forName ("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
String url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@172.25.44.54:1521:bbo";
con = DriverManager.getConnection(url,"user", "user123");
Thank youWell i've never used oracle or their drivers before but i'm presuming that you'd go to oracle.com or something and look for downloads. Otherwise you could goodle for Oracle JDBC drivers. Then just follow the instructions.
Again i've never used JSP but if you have a manifest file somewhere you'll need to put a class-path: entry in their referecning the jar file with the driver so that it is availble at run-time.

How to connect oracle database using DSN from jsp

Using odbc tool i have created the dsn name but ithe connection does not make .here is the code that i have tried
Connection connection = null;
try
Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
catch(ClassNotFoundException Exception)
out.println("error occoured during loading the driver ");
try
out.println("getting the connection");
connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:deepak","scott","tiger");
out.println("connection getted");
catch(Exception exception1)
out.println("error occoured ");
pls help as soon as possible
Sorry, for my englishyou are actually using JDBC so the DSN entry does not matter.
2 things.
Make sure that your oracle database driver is in your classpath on your tomcat server.
I.E. copy the file classes12.jar into your common/lib folder of tomcat, or into your WEB-INF/lib folder of your application. and RESTART your server. classes12.jar can be found on the internet or more easily somewhere within your oracle installation. just search for it.
Make sure your jdbc url is correct. I believe it goes like this.... fill in the blacks
connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:scott/tiger@MyOracleHost:1521:MyDB");Note how the username are passed in the first string there fore there is no need to pass additional parameters. This method may be depriciated, but if so, just take out the user and pass from the string and continue to pass them as 3 seperate strings.
connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:MyOracleHost:1521:MyDB","scott","tiger");That should get your connection. if not, post your errors. -
Insert date time into oracle database from jsp
pls tell me ,from jsp how can I insert datetime values into oracle database .I am using oracle 9i .here is codethat i have tried
html--code
<select name="date">

<option>2</option>
<option>3</option>

</select>
<select name="month">

<option>1</option>
<option>2</option>
<option>3</option>
<option>4</option>
</select>
<select name="year">
<option selected>dd</option>
<option>2004</option>
<option>2005</option>
<option>2006</option>
<option>2007</option>
</select>
here the jsp code
<% date= request.getParameter("date"); %>
<% month= request.getParameter("month"); %>
<% year= request.getParameter("year"); %>
try
{ Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"); }
catch (ClassNotFoundException exception)
try
Connection connection = null;
out.println("connectiong the database");
connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@127.0.0.1:1521:orcsid","scott","tiger");
out.println("connection getted");
int rows = 0;
String query_2 = "insert into mrdetails values(?)";
String dob = date+month+year;
prepstat = connection.prepareStatement(query_2);
prepstat.setTimestamp(4,dob);
rows = prepstat.executeUpdate();
out.println("data updated");
catch (Exception exception3)
out.println("Exception raised"+exception3.toString());
}To insert date values into a database, you should use java.sql.Date. If it also has a time component, then java.sql.TimeStamp.
Your use of prepared statements is good.
You just need to convert the parameters into a date.
One way to do this is using java.text.SimpleDateFormat.
int rows = 0;
String query_2 = "insert into mrdetails values(?)";
String dob = date+"/" + month+ "/" + year;
SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SImpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyyy");
java.util.Date javaDate = sdf.parse(dob);
java.sql.Date sqlDate = new java.sql.Date(javaDate .getTime);
prepstat = connection.prepareStatement(query_2);
prepstat.setTimestamp(4,sqlDate);
rows = prepstat.executeUpdate();
out.println("data updated");Cheers,

Database locking using JSP and Oracle database
Dear All
I am reading about how to do database locking in general and i want to implement these mechanisms using JSP pages and oracle database, but i have the following questions:-
1.If i write a “select for update” quesry in the JSP page will it locks the record ? or it will not lock the record because the connection between the JSP pages and the server will be stateless in most online systems?
2.If i write all my jave code in transaction , something like this:-
• Begin transaction
• Commit or
• Rollback
Then should i be worried about the locking issues or the database manger will handle the locking mechanisms to insure data integrity(and what the default mechanism (if any) that the oracle database manger use to do the locking)?
3. If the answer for question 2 is no, then how can i handle the optimistic and the pentemistic locking using JSP pages?
BROne way to solve this issue is as follows:
* You add a new column to each database table called 'version' which is of int type.
* Each time you alter any field in a record, you increament the version number.
* When you read a record and display it, you store the version number in your code
* when you go to update the record, you write your sql something like this:
update person set firstName=? where personId=? and version=?
Where the version is whatever you stored locally. If someone altered the record in the database while your
end user was looking at it, the version numbers will not match and the sql statement will
return zero as the number of records it altered. If its zero, inform the end user someone altered the record
while he was looking at it and weather or not he wants to proceed.
The chances of two people altering the same record in a table while both are logged in and viewing the same set of data is small so such collisions will be few.
You only need transactions if you are updating more than one record at a time (in the same table or multiple tables).
You dont need it for reading records if you use a single sql statement to read (for example: to join multiple tables).
In general, you get a (pooled) connection, use it, and close it as quickly as possible in a try/catch/finally block. You dont hold onto it for the duration of the user's session. A book on JDBC should help clarify this. -
I need help with paginating my Oracle database records in JSP
Please can someone help with a script that allows me to split my resultsets from an Oracle database in JSP...really urgent..any help would be really appreciated. I'm using the Oracle Apache http server and JSP environment that comes with the database...thanks
First thing you have to do is decide on a platform and
database. Check to see what your server supports. Whether it is ASP
and MSSQL, PHP and MySQL or less likely Cold Fusion. -

Oracle jpublisher bug or bug in Oracle database 10g ?
Hello,
i`m trying to call web service from pl/sql in oracle database 10g v10.1.0.2.0.
I`ve used this tutorial:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/jsp/callout_users_guide.htm
used oracle as 10.1.3 web service callout pack for 10g v10.1
and jpublisher 10.2, which has generated pl/sql wrapper package and proxy classes.
I`ve imported with loadjava dbwsclientws.jar and dbwsclientdb101.jar into my user called wscallout.
Also imported proxy classes.
When i`ve tried to call pl/sql function, i`ve got this error:
java.lang.VerifyError: (class: oracle/j2ee/ws/saaj/soap/SOAPDoc, method: getDocumentBuilder signature: ()Loracle/xml/parser/v2/DocumentBuilder;) Wrong return type in function

I haven`t found anything about this issue in oracle metalink, regarding to ORA-29532.dude if you are using jdeveloper 10.1.3.x for development of web service the library you have loadded into database dwwsclinet etc or sopa.jar or mail .jar will not work
for getting the output for the web services developed on jdeveloper you need following file to upload on database
wsclient_extended for 10.1.3.x.0 where x stands for your version
wsclient_extended.jar which can be downloaded from
http://download.oracle.com/otn/java/oc4j/1013x0/wsclient_extended_1013x0.zip the stands for subversion
xstands for your version
after downloading above file upload it
open up the socket by command
on SYS schema
SQL>call dms_java.grant_permission('YOUR_SCHEMA','SYS:java.net.SocketPermission','<IPaddress ofcomputer>:<portnumber>(eg 10.8.11.98:8888)','connect,resolve');
SQL>call dms_java.grant_permission('YOUR-SCHEMA','SYS:java.util.PropertyPermission','*','read,write');
SQL>call dms_java.grant_permission('YOUR-SCHEMA','SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission','createClassLoader','');
SQL>call dms_java.grant_permission('YOUR-SCHEMA','SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission','getClassLoader','');
SQL>call dms_java.grant_permission('YOUR-SCHEMA','SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission','setContextClassLoader','');
SQL>call dms_java.grant_permission('YOUR-SCHEMA','SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission','setFactory','');
SQL>call dms_java.grant_permission('YOUR-SCHEMA','SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission','setIO','');
SQL>call dms_java.grant_permission('YOUR-SCHEMA','SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission','shutdownHooks','');
SQL>call dms_java.grant_permission('YOUR-SCHEMA','SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission','accessClassInPackage.sun.util.calender','');
Now make a jar file which contain all your class files of proxy put that jar file on database an compile that jar file on database it should work than convert it into java stored procedure and invoke that procedure

Connecting to an Oracle database after clicking on a foi
Does anyone know how or have any examples on how to connect to an oracle database after clicking on a 'feature of interest' in MapViewer? I want to be able to click on a 'feature of interest' on the map, and have a list of records from an oracle table displayed using the identified key of the foi. I am able to create the feature of interest, and add the event listener for 'mouse click', but am unsure how to connect to the database at this point. I have been able to connect to the database in a different jsp, but not from here. Thank you.
1. Create a JSP page that does the database query. It should take the foi id as an input parameter.
2. In the foi mouse click listener, display the JSP page in iframe. The iframe can be placed outside the map or inside the info window. The function should do something like this.
function myClickListener(point, foi)
mapview.displayInfoWindow(point, "<iframe id='my_iframe_id' frameborder=0 width=300px height=400px />", 300, 400) ;
var myIframe = document.getElementById("my_iframe_id") ;
myIframe.src = "http://myhost/myjsp?key=" + foi.id ;

Uploading Data from a Flat file into Oracle Database
Hi,
I am a novice to Java . SO, please bear with me. I have a reqiurement where I have a flat file or excel file from which I need to read the data and insert into Oracle Database. The falt file will exist on the client machine. I have been reading and I see this can be done through I/O Streams. Correct me if I am wrong. I am looking for a sample code to get started. Any Java expert has an answer for it, I will appreciate it.
ThanksTry UploadBean. It allows to upload files (from a browser) in Oracle.

Front End to Oracle Database - Advice Needed
Hi
My company has recently purchased an Oracle Database. Are there any advantages in creating the front end in Oracle as opposed to writing the front end in Java.
I am interested to know if one method is preferred over the other. I was planning on writing it entirely in Java.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
