JSP Spec - Chapter "JSP.8.9.1 Synchronization Points"

Question

Hello,
i was wondering if the following excerpt from the section "Generated Simple Tag Handler (MySimpleTag.java)" present in "8. Example Simple Tag Handler Scenario" of the Javadoc of the Package javax.servlet.jsp.tagext, and also present in the JSP spec on page 2-83 :

jspContext.removeAttribute( "var1",
JspContext.PAGE_SCOPE );
is coherent with the table "Table JSP.8-6 Variable synchronization behavior" of the JSP Spec on page 1-187.
In that table, for AT_BEGIN variables and "Beginning of tag file" there is no mention of a Page->Tag synchronization.

I would agree with you. It is inconsistent.
It also seems that the example code there does not execute - at least not in Tomcat. Executing it as is results in a ClassCastException because of the varReader attribute.
In this case, I would say follow what the specification says in the documented section, not what the example generated code shows.
And then test it yourself in on your server - just to make certain :-)
