JTree Explore System Drives,Folders and Network Share

Hi all,
I need to list all the drives,folders and Network Share if any using JTree in a combobox similar to windows explorer.Please help me
Sathya

this will help you a little:
File f [] = File.listRoots (): returns all the drives: the local && Remote ones
to list directories & files you do something similar: File f2 = f[0].listFiles ();
check on file/fir: f2[0].isDirecoty() or f2[0].isFile()
Tip:
You probably were planning on reading all files and directories and then showing them. If you did, DON'T. It will take forever! Just list the roots, if a root is selected list it's directories & files, if a directory is selected list it's subdirectories & files and so. Also try creating a DirectoryListener which is active when the directory's contents is visible and which will relist it's contents when it's contents is changed.
enjoy, will be fun!

  • How to sync both from hard drive folders and from Aperture?

    I have the following problem. So far I was syncing photos directly from my hard drive folders and everything was fine. Recently I decided to add some photos from Aperture albums. When I did this all previous photos synced from HD were deleted. When I switched back to syncing from folders, the photos from Aperture were deleted. It looks that it is impossible to sync from both sources. Anyone had this problem and found the solution?

    I couldn't figure this out on my device, so I just consolidated them into one sync folder by copying photos.
    Good thing I have extra disc space.....

  • Watch Folders and Network Drives

    Hello,
    I'm trying to find a solution to this and it's driving me crazy. I would like to use a network drive as a watch folder in PSE. I have PSE3 and am curious if this has been fixed in PSE4 (which removes the network drive after you add it, which is very annoying).
    I'm curious if anyone has gotten this to work through either using an NT domain account for the file service or any other solutions.
    Any ideas?

    Well I finally figured out a way to get this working, but it's truly a pain. I moved all my machines into a domain and ran the "Adobe Active File Monitor" service under a domain account that has permissions on all shares I want to watch.
    It doesn't seem to work with mapped drives - instead you have to go in through the network neighborhood, but it does work. At that point you can have PSE watch folders pick up changes on a network share.

  • Window 8.1 system unable to access network shares via VPN connection

    Is there something inherent to Windows 8.1 that prevents it from accessing shares on a domain?
    I know that it cannot join a domain, but does that also mean that it cannot access shares which are on a domain?
    My problem is that I have several user that are running windows 8.1 that are connecting to our network via a VPN.
    The users have domain accounts but their computers as windows 8.1 cannot joined to the domain.
    So to access network shares they have to use their domain credentials to create a VPN connection.
    Once connected the user can RDP to systems on the domain using their domain accounts, so I know that their user names/passwords and permissions are correct. They can access these systems using the computer name, so I don't feel that I have a DNS issue.
    They can see the shares on our file server, but when they try to access their departments shared file, they receive an access denied message. There are a few shares that are completely wide open, shared to all users and all departments but they cannot access
    those shares either.
    You can ping the file server, from the the client when they are connected to the VPN but you just cannot access any of the shares.
    So...
    I am thinking that it has something to do with windows 8.1 and not being able to join a domain, but I cannot find anything to explicitly support this thought.
    Other users running a variety different OS (windows 7, OSX, Linux) can all access the shares without any problems via the VPN, so I am a little stumped.

    I have done some more testing and oddly enough I can map a drive if I use the IPaddress, but not the computer name, when checking the check box "connect using different credentials"and providing they users domain credentials.
    This seems to point to a DNS issue, one would think, but I can hit the file share server by name \\fileserver.dev.lan
    I can see all the shares, so dns seems to be fine right?
    So I don't understand why I can map a drive using do the IPaddress and not the machine name, but yet I can see and ping the server by name?
    When I try to create a mapped drive by machine name I receive the following message:
    Windows cannot access \\fileserver.dev.lan\all
    You do not have permissions to access \\fileserver.dev.lan. contact your network administrator  to request access.
    But if I use the \\x.x.x.x\all using the very same user and password I get connected with no problem.
    This only seems to happen on windows 8.1, which leads me to think that has something to do with OS.
    I am thinking about upgrading to windows 8.1 pro, but I don't want to go though the hassle and expanse is the OS is not the problem.

  • Portable Homes / Mobile Homes and Network Shares

    So, i'm now using portable home and its working pretty well.  Gave up on using Profile manager to configure it and using WGM instead.
    But, I also have a variety of network share points that I'd like to have available on the road, including when I don't have internet.  Right now, I can access them via VPN which works ok, but is there any way to sync share points just like my home folder?
    In my setup, I'd be the only user who has this level of access to the share points---i woudn't set up any other users to be able to sync them.
    Doable?
    I currently use dropbox, but dropbox really isn't secure enough for my business (healthcare), and I can't really use dropbox to sync network shares
    I've looked at Owncloud, but it looks like the only way that Owncloud will sync network shares is if I give read/write access to those folders to the _www user, and I don't fully appreciate the security implications of that and would like to avoid it.
    Anyone got a better idea for making the contents of several network shares (on an OSX server) synchronize to my laptop (which is bound to the server and has a mobile home) for on and offline use?

    Aren't you going to run into update conflicts when someone back at the office updates files you also update when offline?
    Perhaps a cellular data plan would solve your problem?

  • How to get "fast user switching" and network shares playing nice

    I've been alternating between banging my head against a wall and reading every forum I could find to try and get a reasonable compromise between using "Fast user switching" and sharing a folder from a file server.  It baffles me how the network share/mount model of OSX/AFP is completely killed by fast-user-switching; this is a big problem with Apple requiring users to be actively logged in to share music/video from iTunes which therefore essentially requires fast-user-switching if anyone else wants to use the computer.  (anyone find it odd that you can share files without being logged in, but sharing songs requires an active login for each user who is sharing?  Apple: time to make iTunes sharing a service!)
    For the sake of example, lets just say I want to share my /Groups folder from my desktop and have it be accessible to my laptop.  Here are all the things that I tried:
    Apple Method 1) Share /Groups in the Server.app on the desktop (running Lion Server), use finder on the laptop and drag the share icon to "Login Items", alternative use a startup Apple script using "mount volume"  Both of the options work and will mount the /Groups folder under /Volumes/Groups, of course when the second person logs in via fast-user-switching (and occasionally the first person for no apparent reason), they will get /Volumes/Groups-1 since /Volumes/Groups is already taken.  Tomorrow we log in a different order and now the previously /Volumes/Groups-1 user has their mount at /Volumes/Group and vice versa.  Any links, aliases, finder sidebar references, and application settings which pointed to yesterday's location are now BROKEN.  Not very user friendly to my mother-in-law who is trying to find those pictures of the kids and doesn't know anything about mount points. I also can't reasonably mirror the file location structure on the desktop so that application preferences that are synced between the two (portable home directories) work.   fail.
    Apple Method 2) Use automounter and set up by hand direct maps for /Groups or an indirect maps for the children of /Groups.  Now it will automatically get mounted to /network/servers/SERVER/Groups/ on the laptop and on the desktop it will automatically create a similar symlink structure so that the same path (/network/servers/SERVER/Groups) work both on desktop and laptop.  Cool.  Except when the second person logs in, the /network/servers/SERVER/Groups/ mountpoint is already owned by the first user and they don't have any permissions to access it.  Fail.
    Apple Method 3) Use mount_afs and specify directly the mount-points.  Have each user have their own startup AppleScript which mounts /Groups to a different location (e.g. /Users/Shared/username/Groups) that way they don't conflict with multiple users.  On the desktop, set up symlinks from /Users/Shared/username/Group to /Groups so that it will be the same as the client and applications settings will work when synchronized back/forth by portable-home-directories.  Will it work, yes it does, but what a bear to maintain.  Is this really what I should expect to do just to have multiple users on my desktop and laptop (which again is essentially required now if I want to do any type of iTunes sharing).  This can't be what apple expects.
    What I ended up doing - the "not quite apple" solution.
    Non-Apple Method 4) After a read of "Autofs: Automatically Mounting Network File Shares in Mac OS X" (http://images.apple.com/business/docs/Autofs.pdf) at the very end there is a single paragraph  of "Kerberized NFS": "A Kerberized NFS mount can have multiple connections from multiple users, each using the correct user’s credentials for each transaction. This allows administrators to support multiple users, each authenticated with their own credentials to the same mount point. This is very different from AFP and SMB mounts," (emphasis mine)
    It appears that by using good 'ole NFS (abeint with Kerberos for security!) you can actually have multiple users on the same mount point.  Roughly following the guidance at https://support.apple.com/kb/TA24986?viewlocale=en_US.  What I needed to do was:
    1) create /etc/exports on my desktop and add a single line "/Groups -sec=krb5".  The existence of /etc/exports triggered a start of nfsd which no longer has any GUI options in Lion.
    2) Add a line to /etc/auto_master on my laptop "/-  auto_mymounts" to reference a new direct map.
    3) Create /etc/auto_mymounts and add a single line "/Groups         SERVER:/Groups" to create the direct map.
    THAT'S IT.  Three lines in three files.
    Now when I log into my laptop, there is a /Groups that is a network mount of my desktop's /Groups, same location AND it works for all of my users, even simultaneously.
    In the end I'm happy with what I've got, but man was this a difficult path just to support fast-user-switching.  In Lion, Apple appears to be getting away from NFS (no longer turned on by default and remove from the GUI controls) but clearly this really useful functionality which doesn't exist in AFP.
    I'm really curious, after all this work.  Any other ways to accomplish this?

    In my example above, yes I chose to mount the share "Groups" to the top of the root since that is where I put it on my server and I wanted to keep them similar; but that was just my preference, it isn't a requirement.  You can export and mount from other directories.

  • Dolphin and network shares

    Hi,
    this is buggin me for sometime and now I decided to post this problem, so maybe someone can help. I have mapped through dolphin an ftp server with movies,music etc. I have added to smplayer.desktop this:
    X-KDE-Protocols=ftp,http,https,sftp,smb
    Without it smplayer would first copy localy the file on ftp server and that playit. This would stream the file and play. The problem is that FTP server uses plain authentication (local users on FTP server) so when I click the file, smplayer opens but nothing happens. In log says:
    [12:06:04:084] BaseGui::checkIfUpgraded
    [12:06:05:280] MplayerProcess::parseLine: ''
    [12:06:05:280] MplayerProcess::parseLine: '[ftp] command 'PASS no@spam' failed: 530 Login incorrect.'
    [12:06:05:280] MplayerProcess::parseLine: ''
    [12:06:05:280] MplayerProcess::parseLine: 'Failed to open ftp://[email protected]:21/home/john/nameofmovie.avi.' (I have changed this, for security reasons)
    With vlc, the behaviour is the same:
    Network interaction failed:
    Your password was rejected.
    Your input can't be opened:
    VLC is unable to open the MRL
    I see that vlc and smplayer don't see the mapped ftp network share as local map but are trying to stream the files directly from the server and ofkors there is no prompt for password(although the vlc and smplayer do pickup the user somehow).
    Over NAS evertyhing works, probably because NAS doesn't use authentication... I have tried also mount with curlftpfs but he performance is poor.
    And I have also tried with samba, doesn't work - in dolphin mapped the same network share with samba(i have samba also on server), tried playing the video file or music,and vlc/smplayer doesn't stream. Although the log entry is a little bit diferrent, my bet is that this doesn't work because ftp and samba use authentication...
    Does someone know how to fix this behaviour? I could just use NAS, but I have also windows pc in home network which doesn't like NAS and the version is Pro so doesn't have services for unix as an option which includes Nas client. Basically, I would like to just use ftp and stream music and videos from ftp server...
    Or dolphin and kde doesn't support this feature, you can just browse and copy/pase/delete files through dolphin and that is it?
    Tnx.

    Well dolphin uses kde kio fire protocol witch is very limited in that respect, use eighter smb4k or systemd to mount it at given folder and this will work

  • IPad and Network Shares/Network File Browsing

    I've heard of enabling WebDAV via IIS on a File Server to allow iDevices to connect to a network share within the network, but are there other ways to view file shares within an enterprise network(aside from third party apps, or cloud-based apps such as Dropbox)?

    I think you will need third party stuff.  If you need security and ease of use  go with a Cisco ASA and Anyconnect.  This will give you both internal and external access.

  • Issue with Windows Explorer search function and network shares.

    Hello all,
    I hope all is well, I am having a very odd issue.
    One user when they access a particular network drive, and try to use the explorer search function it prompts the following error
    Runtime error
    Program:
    This application has requested the runtime to terminate in a unusual way. Please contact application team for support.
    I have checked the event viewer on both the user machine and server hosting the share, not events show up regarding the issue.
    I have tried with the user machine in safe mode with networking, and the issue still occurs
    It of course is not telling which application or program is causing this.
    I have confirmed all windows updates are up to date.
    I have gone to the windows search in services and swapped the 1 for a 0, that opened up three of the four network drives for search
    the last one is still causing this error.
    User computer is windows 7 professional 64 bit
    server is windows server 2012 64 bit.
    I am at a total loss as to why this is happening on two machines out of ten.
    any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.
    Cheers
    Josh

    Hi Josh,
    What operation did the user act and how to use the explorer search function to cause the issue? Please check if the issue still exists after the user does the same action locally.
    You could refer to the thread below to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Watched folders and network mapped drives

    Using watched folders feature, If I select one of my network mapped drives, PSE7 display a message saying the path is wrong :
    Any chance it could work ? Thank you ...

    You gave us no details on how your clients are configured.
    If you are runnning Windows clients, then you need to enable machine authentication ON THE WIRELESS CLIENT and on ACS. Since you are using TLS, you also need to have a machine certificate on the computer.
    Machine authentication will allow the wireless computer to connect to the wireless network BEFORE the user logs on. In this way, login scripts and drive mappings will take place the same way they would with a wired connection.
    I believe you can search Cisco.com for an article that talks about the ACS and client settings for machine auth.

  • Sync folders to network shares?

    I set myself up a windows server, running AD, print services, filesharing, network installation stuff, and what not. I got bored really, but I figure I may as well make use of it, since I don't know what else to do with a dual P3 system. actually, to be honest, the whole reason I got the dual P3 was so i could get some hands on experience with server 2008
    anyhow, after much trial and error, I managed to get some shares mounted in fstab via cifs, one of which, is a backup folder for myself.
    basically, what i want, is to have my home folder on this machine synced to the one on the server. I tried devicesync, which works....which was a bad idea because as it turns out, it wants to replace everything everytime, so its not really a viable option.
    so I'm looking for something that can sync my data to the server, pretty much the way that it is, so that i can access it across my network in the same manor of organized chaos that I do locally. I figure a weekly cron job will come into play, but right now I just need something that can do the incremental changes, adding new files and modified files.
    I'm hoping that if i can get this setup the way I want, rather than scattering stuff across multiple machines, I may be able to keep stuff on the main linux machine I use, and as long as things stay synched with the network folder on the server, I might just be able to quit scattering stuff across so many machines, and just have everything on the main machine, and then the network backup that i can access from any machine, since I'm running AD, and managed to get some login scripts to map my folders
    any suggestions?

    thats a start, I'm sure it should do the job.
    but I'm looking at the examples on the site, and it seems they have splitting files by the day of the backup. I'm safe to assume thats not necessary?
    just started looking at the wiki page, should have thought to check for that first.
    it should do the trick, if i can figure it out, I thought I was a tech guy.....until I went linux....windows I can do in my sleep...but some of the linux stuff, man........at the same time though, rsync looks like a much simpler and straight to the point than anything i've found for my windows clients, i hate the windows backup for splitting files into folders in all sorts of wierd ways, and I really don't consider offline files an option for backup, I don't know why that would ever be suggested, at least for my scenario....
    anyhow, Thanks a lot for the speedy reply, I'll post back with results, or if I need another suggestion, but I'm 99% positive rsync is what I'm looking for
    just thought i'd note, I'm actually quite impressed by that specific wiki page, props to whoever wrote it, for breaking down the commands and explaining the switches, saves me doing rsync --help to get that info, jsut a nice touch I feel I sometimes don't see often enough

  • System.out.println and Network Adapter problem

    Hello,
    I am encountering a 2 strange problems. I have 2 oracle application server instances, one dev and one production.
    The first problem is when I type System.out.println in the JSP's i am able to see the output in both \opmn\logs\oc4jinstance. But the System.out.println in the java classes or bean show up only in development logs but not in production box.
    Is there a setting I am missing here?
    The second problem is on our development machine the application works fine, but as soon as we deploy the application on production I encounter:
    could not open new connection: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
    I have a class called DBUtils, which uses a 3rd party library to get connections from the connection pool as below. Using JSP I call the getConnection(). On my dev Oracle Application Server Instance it works fine, but on production I get the error. Can it be there is a setting that I am missing on the production box?
    When I use a JSP and connect to the database without using the DBUtil class. I can connect to the database fine. Also using the DBUtil class with production oracle IP address on the development machine lets me connect with no problem, but production machine does not let me.
    public class DBUtils {
    static ConnectionPoolBean pool;
    static {
    System.out.println("DBUtils() - before connection pool bean");
    pool = new ConnectionPoolBean();
    pool.setDriverClassName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
    pool.setdbURL("jdbc:oracle:thin:@IPADDRESS:PORT:SID");
    pool.setUser("USERNAME");
    pool.setPassword("PASSWORD");
    pool.setInitialConnections(1);
    pool.setIncrement(1);
    pool.setSoftMaxConnections(40);
    public static Connection getConnection() throws SQLException {
    System.out.println("Getting Oracle Connection");
    return pool.getConnection();
    public static void returnConnection(Connection conn) throws SQLException {
    System.out.println("Returning Connection");
    pool.returnConnection(conn);
    Thanks for your help in advance.

    Hi
    System.out.println is a method of PrintStream in IO which is used to print the output on console in java progs.Here in jsp ,the o/p is printed on server's console window.But out.println is totally different as, out is implicit object derived from JspWriter and is used sly to PrinWriter 's object is used in servlets.It's work is to write upon Browser.
    System.out.println() is normally used in jsp for debugging purposes only.

  • How does this system sound? (And network storage)

    Hi All,
    I'm gonna be getting a new setup soon, thought I'd run it past you guys here.  Really it's an all rounder, I don't have a job in production or anything, but like editing in my spare time for fun (making filmclips out of movies and stuff).  It's not that easy to find good advise about setting up a system specifically for Premiere.
    So below is the details of what i'm thinking of.  The PC I have at the mo, i'm gonna turn into a Windows Home Server.  Has anyone used Premiere with networked storage before?  I plan to have OS/Programs on an SSD, and I'll probably have to stick a regular HDD in the box as well (probably a 1Tb seagate or something), then backup to the WHS.  Any thoughts?  Also what sort of impact does the graphics card have?  I'm thinking of getting a second card later down the track and SLI them.
    Cheers

  • How to 'Remove' user access from deleted dual boot system's users in existing operating system's folders and files?

    I have Windows 7 Enterprise Professional, accessed earlier from (now deleted) other dual boot operating system (User folder), which shows it's users as unknowns for folder properties in Windows 7 Enterprise Professional's "C:\Users\Aniruddha",
    which causes system not responding, how to 'Remove' these unknown users from folder properties of "C:\Users\Aniruddha"?
    Also "C:\Users\Aniruddha\Application Data" creates many of own folders within eachselfs end folder ("C:\Users\Aniruddha\Application Data" creates a "C:\Users\Aniruddha\Application Data\Application Data", "C:\Users\Aniruddha\Application
    Data\Application Data" creates a "C:\Users\Aniruddha\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data" and many) because of which system stops responding randomly, starts responding only for "ctrl+alt+del", why such self
    creation begins?
    Whether a standby user with same file structure copied from a user would dynamically link it's shortcut folders with Windows user from whom these folders were copied or whether there would be no link and for above said problem I would restore User's file structre
    back to normal just by copying from standby user?

    It seems your PC is infected with some malware. Use a trusted antivirus software with the latest definition updates installed to scan and remove the malware.

  • Moving from directly connected external drive to a network share.

    I've looked around and can't find a page on how to do this. I have an external drive hooked up to my iMac. I am using it for TM backups, so I have this directory on it (Backups.backupdb). There are also 2 sparsebundle images due to 2 other people in the office using this drive for TM backups.
    I am going to be moving this external drive to a mini we have here, which would mean I now need to take the Backups.backupdb directory and convert it into a sparsebundle image, since I'll now be backing up over the network.
    Is there a way to do that? I would really like to preserve my backups since it's pretty important for my work.
    Thanks.
