JTrek 1.1 From Compaq

hi! I am using JTrek 1.1, a Java instrumentation tool that enables you to write Java applications that examine and modify Java classfiles. I was hoping someone might have experience and/or knowledge about it? I need some help with an exception I am getting when I try to call .passStack().
Also, maybe others can help me with this Java Exception I get? (It happens when I try to call .passStack(): I want to communicate the arguments of a method I am trying to monitor...but I can't seem to do it and get this Exception :( :
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.VerifyError: (class: permissions, method: openFile signature: (Ljava/lang/String;)Ljava/lang/String;) Expecting to find object/array on stack
        at java.lang.Class.forName0(Native Method)
        at java.lang.Class.forName(Class.java:140)
at mac.MaCMain.main(MaCMain.java:41)Any ideas? I have been surfing on the Web and I wonder if I am encountering a bug in the JVM? I am using JDK 1.3 . Hmmm?
Further, with the call to new FileInputStream(filename) to open a file, is the filename argument put onto the run-time stack at the instruction "invokespecial FileInputStream"? Is not the run-time stack structured:
top-element to bottom-element:
0. object reference
1. ... method arguments
*thank you!

Errors like these tend to mean that a piece of code was compiled for a different version of the method than it thinks is there.
Suppose I made a method like this in one class
public void foo( String s )
and called it from another class like this
a.foo( "Hello" );
I compiled it all. Then i went back and changed foo to be
public void foo( String s, int i )
compiled it, but didn't compile the call (a.foo("Hello"))
These are the kinds of errors you would see, i believe.
It's possible that compaq just foobar'ed the jar file.

  • Pc slow to boot from Compaq Screen

Hi, I have a Compaq PC and the other day it started playing up alot (on a real go slow) I decided to format it and put fresh windows on to start all over again but this hasn't fixed the problem. When I turn the PC on it sits on the big red Compaq logo for 2 mins 30 secs and then it takes 7 mins 21 secs to eventually get to the log in page. I have tried using Windows 7 64bit and Windows Vista 32bit but seem to have the same issue either way. I have a PCI card in the computer and took that out to test but still the same issue. I also have changed the ram around and put the original ram back in but still the issue continues. I read on the HP website to try other Hard Drives and this also hasn't helped and also moved the cable to other slots but still this continues. I popped the CMOS battery out and put it back it but still no help. The issue does seem to be down to the Motherboard or something like that? I am not and expert by any means with computers and have only tried what I have read to try so any help from you guys would be great but could you please explain in simple terms?
I really do beg of your help....
    Thanks in advance

  • Can I swap my HDD from compaq 621 to compaq C700 (FF411PA#ACJ)

I have a two laptops of same company compaq but different models both shows a problem. One problem is HDD and another problem is motherboard sothat I decided to that I changed the HDD. (1) Compaq 621 - Support for 9.5-mm, Serial ATA, 160-GB, 5400-rpm and (2) Comapq C700 (FF411PA#ACJ) - Support for 9.5-mm, Serial ATA, 320-GB, 7200-rpm. Am I changed or not because difference of 5400rpm and 7200 rpm ?

Maybe a tiny bit more heat but the laptop will have no problem handling it. If heat concerns you get a solid state drive. They have no moving parts so generate almost no extra heat. Seriously, today's 7200 rpm drives produce less heat than 5400s from a few years back. If you get one with a large cache of 32 megs it can actually produce less heat than a 5400 rpm with an 8 meg cache because the drive will be accessed a bit less.

  • Compaq Multiport Evo n800c wlan help needed(long)

I am having problems getting my wireless network module working.  I ran the hotplug script when i first attempted to get this working.  The difference with the multiport card, is that to initially enable the device one must enable it by pressing, function(Fn)+F2.
When i enable the device with this key press i notice that the prism2_usb module is loaded via lsmod.
    prism2_usb 76932 0
    p80211 32272 1 prism2_usb
When i researched the module needed for this multiport device, there are many different opinions on compaq multiports, as well as many problems with them.  The Orinocco modules and and Prism modules were mentioned as "working" modules(via hp linux forums/googling/mailing lists).
I assumed that the prism modules were the correct ones to use, since they are loaded when the device is enabled(i assumed these modules were selected by hotplug). Maybe this is where I am wrong, but moving on.
I then downloaded the wirelesstools package so that i can utilize the command iwconfig, and to help with wlan devices.
Im very new to arch-linux, so I dont know where to go at this point. The wireless networking does not work with this module loaded.
    iwconfig

    RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
I do think something is wrong with the module maybe, because of the fact that no hardware address is represented.  I could be wrong being that im new to arch/linux.  But again I do not know how the multiport modules from compaq work.

This makes me further the thought of the module not being correct, because the wlan0 device is not even recognized.

Make sure you've inserted the appropriate

I do have to most recent wlan-ng26 drivers: wlancfg version: 0.2.1-pre21
I tried to figure out the exact chipset but I had no luck with this, since the multiport device is on a usb hub/uses usb.  So this device was not listed in lspic, and I have the ohci-hcd module loaded via rc.conf.
    I also have included the line, wlan0="dhcp" n INTERFACES=(lo eth0 wlan0), in my rc.conf.
Which brings me here, with no idea of what to try to do.  I hope I have included enough information.  If anyone needs any more information I will gladly provide it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i0m also relatively newbie for wireless, but at least i have mine working
what i wonder about your config, is, why do you use wlan0 ?
i myself have eth0 (normal, using e100), eth1 (firewire), eth2 (wireless, using orinoco_pci) and it seems to work like this:
    modprobe orinoco_pci
(what is managed for you with hotplug, hopefully)
    then
    iwconfig ......
using all options needed for the net i want to login
    then
    dhcpcd eth2
    and then it works simply
so i have nowhere wlan0, but i don't use hotplug for this
anyone knowning more feel free to correct me :-)

  • Solaris x86 on Compaq DL360 (P21) server

I am having issues installing this OS on the server in the title... it is a DL360 with Dual PIII 998 processors and 1.4G RAM.
I setup the RAID controller at statup to use RAID1 with 2 x 36G drives.... and then boot from the Solaris Disk 1 (no the installer disk)...
I am using the RAID controller driver supplied from Compaq for Solaris 8 and at the first stage it successfully is added during the installation process....
The process goes through as per expected, setup network, setup drive layout and even install required OS modules.. then it happens....
... the request to insert the disk holding file CPQARY2 pops up, disk is inserted but the message 'file cannot be found on disk' is returned....
Silly thing is that the system has already used this driver from this disk to load the HDD RAID conntroller info into memory... it even installs to the disks with no problems....
Is this an issue because the drivers are for Sol8 and not 9??... and does anyone know where and if I can get the drivers for 9??.. they are not on the website for this server model....

did you make any experiance regarding Solaris 10 X86 ?No, but...
Unfortunately there is no Solaris 10 driver for the
built in SmartArray of the DL360 (P21) available.... I expect that the same workaround is OK for Solaris 10, that is,
rename the DU/sol_28 directory to DU/sol_210 on HP's driver
    update floppy.

  • Update BIOS from DOS command line?

Hello, I'd like to be able to flash the BIOS from the boot prompt or with a USB/CD/DVD based tool. I cannot open any OS even from live DVDs. My Presario SR5507F came originally with Vista installed but over the years it was upgraded to Windows 8.1. It gave us years of reliable service but sometime last fall the PC started experiencing seemingly random reboots and powerdowns. Things got pregressively worse until the PC was unusable. It would run for 15 or 20 minutes and then reboot. The problems started shortly after a Windows update, so I thought this was a patch or driver update issue. I tried reverting an removing patches to no avail. I also tried installing Ubuntu and Fedora, but they exhibit the same issues. Fedora is worse than Ubuntu, though. I tried to reinstall Windows 8.1, then 7 and finally the original Vista 32-bit OS but all Windows installations fail at some point during drivers installation. The computer just enters an endless reboot cyle and Windows cannot be installed. I ran memory tests but they all pass and I can use a text based OS, such as DOS. I have tried to reflash the BIOS, thinking it may have been corrupted during one of the reboots, but since I cannot install any version of Windows, the BIOS flash tools refuse to work. I need to be able to flash the BIOS from the DOS command prompt or at boot. Is there such a tool from Compaq/HP? Thanks!

The BIOS file is found on THIS PAGE and is listed asMCP61PM-HM Motherboard BIOS Update 5.271.5 MBAug 2, 2012sp40911.exe Open the download after it is complete with 7-zip by right clicking on the sp40911.exe, then extract the Net5.24 to a known location.  AWDFlash downloadJust rename the file to 524.bin and use awdflash from DOS.Use  awdflash 524.bin /cc/cd/cp/py/R

Here is what most places sell, not sure it is an exact match and would require soldering skills

You might call HP Parts and see if they offer one for your specific model.

  • EMachines E211H 21.5" Widescreen LCD Monitor for Compaq sr1230nx model

This monitor is supposed to display at 1920 x 1080 resolution but it is not listed as an option amongst the three (non-widescreen) resolution choices within display settings (windows xp OS).  I have updated the drivers from compaq site and emachines site upon emachines tech support initial request.  What can be done for this monitor to display at proper widescreen resolution...as of now it is displaying a stretched/fuzzy image.

I know this is an old thread but it looks as if it is still viewed often.
I would bet the problem was that you might have had insufficent power. The Advanced Docking Station uses the 150watt Powersupply, not the 125watt one issued with the laptop.

  • Wifi On/off button on Compaq CQ60-207el

Hi guys, I've recently bought this notebook from Compaq ( Cq60-207el), everything work fine except the Wireless On/off button that is always turned off, even if the card is working. The problem is that the only way to turn off the wireless is manually from Arch.
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5001 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)
This is the wifi card model from lspci. I use that with madwifi drivers.
So, how can I enable this button ? (people with a very similar model of note told me this works on ubuntu, not perfectly but works)
    Thanks!

genisis300 wrote:no way to be 100% sure but if you press the button and run dmesg along with ifconfig etc all indications are that the card is no longer active. If memory serves the way they do this is to turn of the transmitter not the hardware.
Oh ok because it's the trasmtiter that dissipes energy.
    Thank you mate!
Hope with the next kernel we'll get light on button !

  • Compaq CQ presario 56 and 70

I have a Compaq CQ70 series running Vista. that can not start at all. Seems like is not getting power from the adaptor. I used another adaptor to no avail.
All I care at this moment is to be able to use the hard drive where I have a lot of data and programs that I do not waht to loose.
Given the above, I am thinking to by a refurbished
COMPAQ Presario CQ56-219WM Notebook Intel Celeron.
    My questions:
Can I take the old Compaq CQ70 hard drive and replace it to  CQ56?
Can I also can I add the memory cards from Compaq CQ70  to CQ56?
    thx

Need the exact model number of the CQ70. It is possible it will work to just plug in the old hard drive and go but generally not advised. The memory is likely compatible but again we need both full model numbers.

We had the same problem. It wasn't until we updated our NVidia driver to the latest version were we able to run the Universal Installer. The weird thing here was that we had the same driver version on another machine and we were able to run the U.I. The difference was that one one machine, we had a NVidia Vanta video card from Compaq. On the other machine we had a NVidia Vanta\Vanta LT from NVidia. Hopefully, just upgrading to the latest video card drivers will solve your problem.

Up until about two weeks ago I had no issues with my mac.  Then I installed Lion and about two days later the following occurred:
Macbook Pro 15in Unibody - drops wifi connection with numerous routers and different locations.  I turn Airport Utility off and it won't ever turn back on.  Restart is the only option...  Alternatively the mac will sometimes just freeze and I can't move the cursor or type at all.  Booted into BOOTCAMP partition and that freezes as well.
So, now I have bought a new Solid State Drive and done a fresh install of Snow Leopard.  About 5 seconds in and it froze again - so I restarted - and about 20 mins later the Airport Utility did the same issue, dropped the wifi and wouldn't turn back on after I turn it off.
Reset PRAM, Airport Utility did the same again.  So far, touch wood, only the one freeze since the new HHD and PRAM reset...
ANY IDEAS AT ALL WHAT THE HECK THIS CAN BE?  It is SO annoying I have been scouting the net but can't see an obvious solution.  I have however been shocked at sooooo many cases similar to this with the Macbooks...
    Thanks guys

Yes it will work just fine. I sell and set them up quite a bit with both PC's and Macs.
All N routers at the moment are all based on draft N protocol, even Apple's own Airport routers. So the Belkin N+ will work at N speeds if you set it to N mode only. Ofcourse for broad compatibility with all sorts of WiFi devices it is best to leave it in mixed mode.
For some background, i have used all sorts of makes of routers from Compaq/TrendNet (favourite)/Microsoft/Netgear (current favourite)/Dlink...and so on over the years, NOT any issues.
Apple's Airport extreme base stations (which are still draft N) aren't any more compatible than a Netgear or Belkin N router.

  • Belkin N+ Wireless router and MacBook Pro 15" Unibody

Will this router work with this laptop? Will it connect via N speed or G speed?

  • SIGSEGV signal (no mapping at the fault address) :  in _XmAddHashEntry

I have ported a motif based program from Compaq Tru 64(in Tru 64 program is running without any problem) to Solaris 8. I have used Forte developer 6 C++ compiler. Program compiled & linked successsfull. But during runtime 'XmCreateMainWindow' method call generating SIGSEGV signal. Debugger says 'signal SEGV (no mapping at the fault address) in _XmAddHashEntry at 0xfee79ff0

Tough to debug this from the information that you posted but it appears that _XmAddHashEntry is being called with NULL (0x0) as the first parameter and the instruction that is causing problems is the load at 0xfee79ff0 that is trying to use the first parameter (%i0) with the offset of 0xc.  This address is going to be in the kernel space somewhere and the segmentation violation is pointing out that the kernel isn't happy about you peeking at it's unders.
Perhaps you can backtrack from the call to XmAddHashEntry to see what object or class is expected as the first parameter and deduce how that parameter might be getting set (or not set as it were) to NULL.
Also, you mentioned that you're moving from a 64-bit OS. Did you compile your program with the -xarch=v9 flag?
Another thing to check is your stacksize variables. There are two which control the size of various aspects of the stack.
from the C-shell you should type:
    unlimit stacksize
    and
    setenv STACKSIZE 40000
The first sets the overall process stacksize to whatever the system will allow (unlimited). The second, controls how much any individual thread can take for its stack. The second won't effect your application unless it's multi-threaded.
