Jump Menu target="_blank"

Hi,
I am using DW CS5. I have added jump menus to each page, but I cannot get the links to open in a new browser window. What do I need to do (to the javascript?)  for this to work?
Thanks.
Strider

1) Add a GO button to your Jump Menu.
2) Select the GO Button and go to the Behaviors Panel.
3) Hit the Plus sign.
4) Select Open Browser Window.
5) Leave the URL field blank. Select desired attributes.  Hit OK.
When the GO button is clicked, Your Jump Menu URLs will open in new browser windows.

  • Jump Menu Target

    I have a jump menu and want it to send html documents to an inline frame that sits inside an editable region on a document made from a template. The jump menu itself sits inside an editable region as well.
    The jump menu dialog offers only "Main Window" as a target. So I will have to modify the code. Here is the iframe with the ID "EventContent":
    InstanceBeginEditable name="Editorial Content" -->
        <iframe src="BestWeek/100825_1.html"width="607" height="671
    " scrolling="No" frameborder="0" class="iframeAlign" id="EventContent"></iframe>
        <!-- InstanceEndEditable --></td>
    The jump menu's code is:
        <form name="form" id="form">
            <select name="eventJump" id="eventJump" onchange="MM_jumpMenu('parent',this,1)">
              <option value="#" selected="selected">Event Archive</option>
              <option value="#">Roger Moellendorf, 2010 October</option>
              <option value="#">Archive 1</option>
              <option value="#">Archive 2</option>
                                            </select>
          </form>
    In the "onchange" property I replaced "this" with "EventContent", without luck. So, obviously that's not the right way to do that. What is?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for looking at this, Murray. Here is the code for the whole page:

  • Using jump menu to load swf to a target...

    is it possible to use the selections of a jump menu, once when one is selected to load a .swf to a certain target on the page.
    i.e. at www.meadowlarkco.com/index2_new8.htm I have a jump menu with selections within it. Is it possible for instance once I select "flatbed services" for it to a load a new .swf movie to a location on the page, much like an empty mc holder would be used. Then when each new selection is made from the jump menu it will load the according .swf to the same location.....how would I start this script to change my current jump menu?
    thanks for any help provided

    For many reasons, a JumpMenu would not be my first choice for this.  You need a stable cross browser media player embedded into the page and a playlist of files to pull this off.
    Have a look at Wimpy Rave with Full Advertising / Playlists (NOTICE: this link contains auto playing sound and video).

  • Using jump menu in one frame to open page in another frame - works in IE but not Firefox

    Hi,
    I'm a beginner designer. I've been working to create a template for a website in which there is a banner in a frame across the top and three frames beneath - left for navigation and middle and right for content that can be compared.
    I have created two jump menus in the left frame using Dreamweaver's option for it (insert/forms/jump menu): one menu to load pages in the middle frame (in the code this is 'left') and one menu to load pages in the right frame (in the code this is 'right'). Both menus use a go button.
    Using Internet Explorer and allowing active content to run it works fine. In Firefox clicking 'go' does nothing however I have links in this navigation that will open a page in the middle or right ('left' and 'right') frames and if I use these the jump menus will now work.
    How can I get it to work straight off?
    Any feedback is welcome (except regarding not using frames!).

    Given that it doesn't work initially in Firefox then it does once I load a page in the destination frame I decided to create a page with a link to the frameset. Using the link to get to the frameset the jump menu now works perfectly. Must be one of the wonders of using frames. Well I guess that's solved but out of curiosity, any ideas for why it wouldn't work when the frameset is loaded on its own?
    It might be due to the fact that you're using XHTML 1.0 Transitional, a DOCTYPE that does not support framesets. Try converting to HTML 4.01 Transitional or HTML 4.01 Frameset if you do not need or understand XHTML. Or use XHTML 1.0 Frameset if you really need XHTML.

  • Removing Address Bar from target="_blank"

    From what I understand this is not possible to remove the
    address bar via
    Javascript when opening a new window simply using
    target="_blank" - correct?
    This was posed to me as a question from a fellow at work.

  • Dynamic Jump Menu Problem in CS3

    I'm trying to create a link in a Jump Menu to a Detail Page.php by setting the parameters in the menu item to match a value in a recordset. When selected from the menu, a new page should open with a subset of the original php page. So far I haven't found a method to transfer a value in the menu to a url parameter which can be used by the target php page. Any suggestions appreciated.
    Regards to the List

    Nevermind. I was over-thinking the problem and adding dynamic parameters, when a simple solution was all that was required.

  • Unable to set menu target items correctly

    Hi,
    I have an issue when I try to set the target items in menus.
    (Excuse the long explanation)
    Firstly let me explain what I am trying to do.
    I have 4 pages which are linked to each other that provide more detail for each page. Page 1 shows the highest level of summary i.e product category. Select a category and then link to page 2 , the sub-categories page, select a sub-category and link to page 3, the products page, select the product link and link to page 4 showing associated customers for product.
    I have created a menu and displayed it as a bread crumb.
    Home > Categories > Sub-Categories > Products
    When navigating back up the menu structure it works fine. The problem happens when I place on Page 1 (Home) a top 10 product chart with links directly to page 4. You can only specify target items in the menu from one page to another. Level 4 menu (Products) sets the right sub-category item for Level 3 (Sub_Category) but the Level 2 menu targets (Category) are not set because I have jumped over the levels.
    Any ideas how to set the targets on all menus from the last menu when jumping over the sequence.
    Thanks,
    Burke

    Can you provide a bit more context? What tool are you developing this GUI in? Is this an Oracle Forms app, a custom Java GUI, a series of JSP pages?

  • DW CS4 Help with jump menu opening a new window.

    First, I can't believe that Adobe left out an easy to use behavior to do this.
    I have some jump menus, and I would like the selection to open up a new window and have the content appear there.  I saw a couple of old topics here that offered some suggestions, but they didn't work for me.  I could get it to open a new window, but the content was not there.  I saw where you need to add a "GO" button, and add a "Open New Window"behavior to it.  That is what opened the new window with new content.  I do not have the "GO" buttons on the jump menus in this code, but did try it and it didn't work.   If anyone can help and tell me how to do it, and where to place the code, I would greatly appreciate it.

    I'm confused by your post and code.  Adobe has a function to do this.  In the Insert Toolbar under the Tab "Forms" there is an option to create a jump menu.  The only options that menu gives you is the same window or a frame on the page (a very outdated action looking at it now).  But with basic knowledge of links you insert the menu and you will get code like:
      <select name="jumpMenu" id="jumpMenu" onChange="MM_jumpMenu('parent',this,0)">
    The "parent" denotes that this will open in the same window.  If you change that to "blank" then it will open in a new window.  A "Go" button is optional and also available in the DW GUI when you set up a jump menu.
    http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_a_target.asp

  • With FF15 on Win7, when I click a Google Reader link (that open in a new tab when clicked, target="_blank" style), the new tab opens for a second, then closes.

    The tab will not crash if I right-click, open in new tab, or middle click. Other sites with target="_blank" seem to be ok with left click (Google+ links for example). But Google Reader links seem to be completely broken.

    Seems to be an adblock plus issue in my case. When I disable adblock it never happens. When I enable it this occurs on most links on google, twitter or reddit. Somehow seems them as pop ups I guess. Probably will have to fiddle with adblock plus.

  • Making a javascript jump menu post the parameter value to a jsp

    I have got a HTML page with a javascript jump menu on it which is intended to post the user selected parameter to a jsp. However I do not know how to get the jump menu to post the data in the same way that it is done with a submit button. I don't want to use a submit button, hence the jump menu. Does anyone have an example that they can let me use.
    function jumpPage(form) {
    i = form.SelectMenu.selectedIndex;
    if (i == 0) return;
    window.location.href = url[i+1];
    document.writeln('<FORM><SELECT NAME="SelectMenu" onChange="jumpPage(this.form)">');
    This bit of Javascript just opens the selected window but submits no data to it.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    In order to get your data passed through to your second page via parameters, you must do one of two things.
    1) Actually submit the document. Since you don't want a submit button, you can accomplish this with document.form.submit(). However, you must specify a URL in the "action" attribute of your form tag.
    2) Construct the URL with the parameters listed in it. (ie. myJSP.jps?user=foo&password=bar ). This is not too bad if you've only got a few parameters... rather tedious for more than a few.
    What situation are you in where there are multiple parameters to pass with a Quick Jump setup? Usually, all you need to do is determine which page they need to head to, and simply forward. If there are other fields in your form, an automatically forwarding Quick Jump is potentially problematic, since they could select that field before filling out other necessary fields... just something to think about.

  • Hyperlinks (target="_blank") and buttons on same page problem.

    Another interesting problem.
    I have a hyperlink that is set to open in a new window (target='_blank') and execute the 'hyperlink1_action' on the server.
    The framework executes the javascript function 'hyperlink_submit' (in the formElements.js library) when a hyperlink is clicked. This function sets the 'target' property on the form and also creates a hidden field that identifies the hyperlink that was clicked.
    This works fine and a new window open up with the required data.
    However, now if I click a BUTTON on the ORIGINAL page, a NEW WINDOW pops up and the WRONG DATA is displayed due to the form target setting and hidden field that were created by the 'hyperlink_submit' function called prevously - ie. the changes to the form made by the 'hyperlink_submit' function are NOT rolledback/overwritten when the button is clicked. How annoying!!!
    Am I doing something completely wrong or what?
    Anyway, I feel better now. Have a nice day!

    OK. In the absence of any replies, I've come up with this superhack that I put at the end of the page which fixes the form...
    <f:verbatim>
    <script>
    var f = document.getElementById('form1');
    f.oldsubmit = f.submit;
    f.submit=function() { setTimeout(function(){resetForm(f);},250);return f.oldsubmit(); }
    function resetForm(f)
    f.target='';
    for( var i=f.childNodes.length-1; i >=0; i-- ){
    var n = f.childNodes;
    if (n && n.name)
    if (n.name.indexOf('_submittedField')>-1)
    f.removeChild(n);
    </script>
    </f:verbatim>

    Guillaume,
    The built-in tabular form feature only supports one tabular form on each page. You'll have to put the two forms on separate pages. Or use simple reports as the detail reports with edit links to an edit form page.

    Marc

  • In Firefox 5 links with target="_blank" don't open in new window or tab. Is there a way to make them do that?

    I've search some info about this and it seems like there's a lot of people that are annoyed by links opening in new window/tab and that the 'target="_blank"' is not valid in strict XHTML. I'm guessing this could be reasons why Firefox 5 ignores the 'target="_blank"'. But in some cases you really want to open a new widow, in my case I'm using a flash application and want to open links in new windows from there and then the ctrl-click doesn't work. When opening the link in the same page and then go back the application is reloaded and it's state is lost. Probably should try to find out if there's some other way to open links from a flash application, but I'm wondering if there's a way to make Firefox 5 open 'target="_blank"' links in new tabs.

    I don't know how to delete my question, anyway I'm not having this problem anymore. In our organisation the IT department deploy Firefox updates with certain settings and limitations, in the tap-options the checkbox for opening new windows in new tabs where checked but disabled. They made some changes to make this checkbox enabled and now it works as expected if it's check new windows open i new tabs and if it's not in new windows. They never opens in the same tab as they did before.

  • TARGET="_blank" in button URL?

    I have a printing servlet I want to call from a button. This works fine, but I need the link to open in new browser window, where the pdf can be shown. I have tried this for button URL:
    http:&#47;&#47;wmsi001494/rapportServlet/rapport?skemaId=&P71_SKEMA_ID. TARGET="_blank"
    But this does not work. Does anybody know how to get it working?
    Regards Pete

    I tried popupURL, popUp2, and window.open javascripts to open a window using a button. They work fine with HTML pages but fail when I try to open a PDF file.
    The URL I'm using to open the PDF references a function I created following the HOW TOs (e.g. download_my_file?p_file=#ID#). The only alteration I made to the HOW TO download function was to open the file instead of downloading (Content-Disposition: inline instead of attachment).
    Has anyone else had this problem or found a way to open a PDF file that is stored in the database into a new window using a button instead of a link? I should also mention that if I use a link (e.g. href="...download_my_file?p=file#ID#') it works, it just doesn't work if I have to use Javascript to open the file in a window.
    I really need to use a button instead of a link, but can't figure out how to make it work!
    Forgot to mention, the error message reads:
    "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found." It's an Adobe Acrobat error, but it opens fine when opened with a standard link.
    Thanks,
    ~Dan

  • How do you make a link open on a new page (typically the target="_blank" command) in MUSE?

    how do you make a link open on a new page (typically the target="_blank" command) in MUSE?

    Newer version does not have the same interface.  I'm stuck trying to understand how to add a "blank" target to a hyperlink...  See how your screenshot has a dropdown associated with the "Hyperlink" object?  Mine doesn't...
