Jumping to anchor on loading a JSP

Hello all,
How do I load a JSP page so it is scrolled to a given anchor name?
I guess it should be something like URL#anchorname like usual but I use tomcat and I also need to pass a parameter to the page with page.jsp?param=value and tomcat wants to add ;jsessionid=34234sdfa to it so how do I format it?
The final URL without the anchor is something like
MyPage.jsp;jsessionid=jk24jlk5wj?param=value
so where do I put the anchor tag and will it work at all?
thanks,

Hi,
Not such a javascript guru myself but I believe that anchors aren't actually part of the forms.elements part of the dom.
Try looking it up in the anchors part (see below). Not sure how you do this by name though.... Anyone else???
document.anchors[0].focus();Thinking about this, I've never tried to use focus() on an anchor before - but don't see why it shouldn't work...
Oh, and finally - in your first example, have you tried the following?
MyPage.jsp#anchor;jsessionid=jk24jlk5wj?param=value

  • Unable to load the '.jsp' file

    Hi all,
              We use Weblogic 8.1 sp3 and are devloping a struts based application.
              I have deployed my 'ear' file (containing a '.war' and a '.jar' file). We use struts. Our '.war' file, contains the pre-compiled 'jsp' classes (we have changed our web.xml to indicate that we are using pre-compiled jsps. I can show my web.xml file if you need).
              When I click on my 'submit' button, I see that my action class has been invoked and it's spitting out messages to the stdout. Everything looks fine. But, when it is trying to load the '.jsp', I get the following error.

  • Printing without loading the JSP to the browser

    Hi All,
    Looking for help desporately on how to have different JSPs printed with out loading actual JSPs onto the browser.
    The scenario is we have an application with 17 different views for the same data and we should be able to provide a screen where the user can select the pages what he wants to print. Based on the selection only those JSPs are to be printed irrespective of whether the user had viewed the JSP or not.
    Also the program should be smart enough to set the print type to landscape or potroait based on the width of the table. (Assuming width is known). Are there any libraries avaibable in java for controling the "print" functionality in servlets and JSP.
    To mention, I'm good if the solution works in IE 5.0 and above
    Thanks in advance and your time is very much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Kishore

    Here's my thoughts on this, but not necessarily a solution. Summarized extremely simply, the app server is going to parse your .jsp files and turn them into java source and class files...servlets. I'm sure each app server creates and names it's parsed files differently, and i'm not sure if you can actually specify how this is done. Even then, you're stuck with java servlets that are being processed as the user is running the pages. The html, to my knowledge, is never stored on the server side. So what you're essentially asking how to do is specifically state which jsp's you wish to parse, run the servlet that is created, and then store the html so that you can print out the page, and also specify, or determine, the names of the html files that were created. All without the user ever looking at the page. Right.. doesn't seem too hard :) I'm gonna look into this, cause i'm curious how it might be done, if at all. Anyone else's opinions suggestions are also more than welcome.
    Also the program should be smart enough...Lol...Only if the programmer is :)

  • How to prevent re-loading the jsp before servlet execution gets over

    Hi,
    From jsp, I am calling a function in js. From javascript function, I am calling a servlet in background frame after doing client-side validation. Before the servlet execution gets over, javascript function is getting over and it starts reloading the jsp again.
    I want to restrict the re-loading of jsp till the background servlet execution gets over.
    In background servlet, I am doing query execution.
    Its urgent. Please help me with this question.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sri

    For the time being, one suggestion would be to time how long the sql statement takes to execute. Lets say 1.5 seconds.
    Go into your javascript function and add say a 1.5 + .5 = 2.0 second delay before the javascript function completes (submits the page).
    This is a temporary fix. I doubt there is a better fix to this without knowing a great deal of AJAX and how it handles asynchronous communications.
    I don't know what the javascript function for creating a 2.0 second delay, but I imagine there is one in a javascript book.
    Once you implement the temporary fix above, I suggest you redesign your project to avoid these asynchronous problems by treating
    all your JSP pages as simple display pages and not embed any business logic in them (or in the javascripts). All processing should be done back on the server via servlets.

    Sure - just make the link to the anchor:
    <a
    href="page.php#anchor"
    onclick="popupscript('page.php#anchor');return false;">
    Open my popup window</a>
    Making the link attribute (href=) the same as the popup
    window means that
    people who are visiting your site with javascript turned off
    will also
    get the information from the page. The 'return false' in the
    onclick
    event means that the href won't fire if javascript is turned
    on.

  • Hyperlink set to open new window & jump to anchor tag, doesn't jump

    I am generating Flash Help output in RH7.
    We have content hyperlinks that are set to open in a new window (target="_blank") and jump to an anchor tag in the destination topic (a href="newwindowtopic.htm#anchor")
    This works fine if I compile the file as is.
    However, we edit the whtopic.js topic in order to remove the "Show" link that appears when you open context sensitive topics. We do this by adding the following code at the end or the addShowButton function:
    setRelStartPage("ourstartpage.htm");
    show();
    Replacing the Show link worked fine in RH5 and it works fine in RH7. However, in RH7 when we replace the "show" link to have the TOC load when all topics are called (not just the start page), the ability to open a new window AND jump to the anchor tag is no longer working. When you click the hyperlink the new page opens, but only to the top of the page, not to the bookmark (anchor). The anchor jump does work if the hyperlink is set to open in the current window in RH7.
    The issue exists in IE7 and Firefox.
    Any ideas?

    Hi there
    Why are you editing the JavaScript file? Did you know that when generating FlashHelp you have an option to turn off the Show link?
    Additionally there are ways to link to topics so the TOC is visible and synchronized. These are described at this link right here.
    Cheers... Rick

  • JSP on BEA  Weblogic: random error when loading a jsp page that uses a Bean

    Hi!
    I wrote a simple jsp page that stores a String in a JavaBean, and then forwards to another jsp page to display that String. The jsp pages are deployed on a BEA Weblogic 6 Server, but I get a weird behaviour when loading the page into my browser. Usually I get an error message:
    /Response.jsp(9): class 'query.jsp.QueryBean' could not be loaded
    probably occurred due to an error in /Query.jsp line 9:
    <jsp:useBean id = "queryBean" scope = "request" class = "query.jsp.QueryBean" />
    But the funny thing is that after reloading the page a few times it eventually works. The bahaviour seems to be totally random - sometimes it works, sometimes it claims not finding the JavaBean class.
    Anyone experienced something similar?
    Thank you very much,
    Charlie

    Is QueryBean.class located under '<appname>/Web_inf/query/jsp/'?
    If it is please try changing the package name to something else like com.myclass or something like that.

    I am facing problem in loading very few jsp pages. The situation is something like this.
    Server: WebSphere
    I have a top frame and bottom frame.
    When the user keep on clicking the same link in the top frame, not giving time to get loaded in bottom frame,
    on the server the error "Servlet Error: Connection reset by peer: socket write error: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset by peer: socket write error" was coming.
    My bother is not on the server-side. but on the client side.
    On the client side, the html of two requests are getting overlapped and displaying(see at the end for sample output of html). In this HTML, if you observe, you can find the line "Error 500: Connection reset by peer: socket write error
    ". Above to this is the half-content of the previous request and bellow is the actual page need to be loaded. And the output was a merge of actual page with the code of the previous request.
    Is it the problem of Websphere or coding?
    Can you help me resolving this problem?
    thanks
    naveen
    Output HTML (for example):
         Contract Name:</td>
         <td class="Label" ><input type="text" id="contractName"
    size="25" maxlength = "100"></td>
         <td class="Label" >Owner:</td>
         <td class="Label" colspan="2"><select id="owner" class="Label"
    size="1" style="WIDTH:200px">
         <option value="_______________">_____________</option>
         </select></td>
                   </td>
    Error 500: Connection reset by peer: socket write error
    <html>
    <head>
    <title> welcome </title>
    <link rel="STYLESHEET" type="text/css" href="Scripts/SSheet.css">
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
    <!-- This .js script files contains all components, which is used -->
    .... and so on
    </html>

    Hi
    I have Observed that "java.net.SocketException: Connection reset by peer" is caused due to manual malfunction performed by the user in the browser like sending multiple request to the server stopping, moving forward, moving backward when a request is placed to the server and waiting for it to get it done.
    More clearly if the User Selected an option from the browser and send a request to the server and followed by sending another request immediately to the server and by this time Server is processed the first request and is started writing the result to the JSP/Browser (Same client), by this time the 2nd reqest from the same Browser/Client is interrupted the first one and ohhhhhhh..... problem , you got an error "java.net.SocketException: Connection reset by peer".
    If any one could figure out more Please update me too appreciate !
