Junk Characters in the Output of  Reports2.5

I have created Report in Reports2.5 which is giving good output display
But when I Register the Report in Oracle Apps & see output
it shows Junk Characters in the place of Labels
e.g. Revenue Report
will come like sg0Revenue o7Report
Can any-one give me the solution for this
Regards / Shailesh ( [email protected] )

This is probably due to the prt file that's being used to format the output. I'm willing to bet that the headings are in bold, and the prt file being used has includes some control characters to tell the printer to switch on and off bold - when you view the output file those are the characters you're seeing.
To switch this off simply remove the control characters from the prt file being used.
Hope this helps,
Danny

  • Junk Characters in the output XML file after Parsing

    Hi
I am using DOM parser to parse an XML file.
After parsing the input XML file, i am fetching some contents
from the same and also putting the same contents in the parsed output file which is also an XML file.
The problem here is that the after putting the contents to the output XML file from the input XML file,
some junk character appears at the end of each and every tag in the outputfile.
The junk character is some thing like this : " ampersand hash thirteen and a semicolon "
(*THE MESSAGE DID NOT ACCEPT THE SYMBOLS KINDLY TRANSLATE THE ABOVE WORDINGS*
    INTO SYMBOLS)
This character gets appended at the end of each and every tag in the output file due to which the output file
is not recognised as an XML file.
Please let me know as to why is this character appearing and also please suggest some solution
    for the same.
    -Thanks in Advance.

If i got incorrect characters in the output of sap script? HOW TO CORRECT IT?

    Hi Sunil,
Debug the script and check where exactly those are getting populated. Definately you will get it. Check the conversion parts means character to numeric conversion.
If your version is 4.7E then select unicode check box in the reports attributes. It will display the error message so that we can solve very easily.Hope this helps you, reply for queries, Shall post you the updates.

  • Java - InputStream - Weird Characters in the Output!

    Hi,
I have a software which outputs lines of numbers one by one. In another java program, I use BufferedReader as follows:
    BufferedReader input = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(pr.getInputStream(),"US-ASCII"));
where pr is the process which runs the software. For each line in the output stream, I try to check whether the first number in the line is greater than a certain value and if it is, I write to another file.
The problem is, when I run the software repeatedly (in a linux cluster) like 10 simulations simultaneously, one of them have got @^@^.... characters followed by some huge numbers. So, I tried eliminating that line alone by using String.matches command but now, it seems even after that I get the error - so, I think it might mean that it is actually during the writing process that the problem occurs. I use BufferedWriter like the following to write it: (I do flush it after writing.)
    BufferedWriter out=new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(tmp_file));
I would greatly appreciate if someone can help. This thing really seems to be a huge bottleneck!

  • Junk characters in the purchase order fax received from the fax machine

    Dear Experts,
I am facing the following issue.
I am sending the PO form to a fax number from ME22N using the FAX medium. The PO form is designed by sapscript.
I am getting the fax too from the fax machine. But it is not in the format designed by sapscript. I get junk characters printed line by line. For 1 page of PO form, I get around 7 pages printed with the junk characters.
I checked the trace in SOST, it is taking the device type converts OTF to PDF.
I checked the settings in the SCOT transaction. The device type is set as PDF1. I changed various device types but still the same.
The printer I am using is Fuji Xerox - DocuCentre-III C4405
Any idea how to get the form in the right format.

    Dear Sruthi,,
U can done through this by the BADI ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST. IN that there is a Method  PROCESS_ITEM.
Just Implement ur Code inside this and u can change the Texts here.
    IF_PURCHASE_ORDER_ITEM_MM - IF_LONGTEXTS_MM~GET_TEXT
By this u can get the texts and for setting
    IF_LONGTEXTS_MM~SET_TEXT
Hope this can solve ur probs.

  • Junk Characters from the DB

I'm trying to access the SQL server 7.0 through JDBC to retreive the content of our weekly news article.I have couple of questions regarding that ..
1.We are receiving junk characters( a square box) for the special characters in the content of the article. The datatype of the column is text.
2.We want to do pagenation which is not there in SQL server. i.e. we are required to access all the 30,000 recrds from the DB but display 10 records at a time to the user. The user has a option of going to "more" or "prev" links on a any given page.
Any assistance in these issues will be appreciated..
    Thanks !!!

    Solution to your problem
No. 2 Well I think u can take the whole data in a vector and can send it through session bean. Now when u require records from a perticular recordno to another recordno u only have to send the lower limit and the upper limit.
There anothet I want to mention here with asp and sqlserver 2000 pagination is posible and in that case sqlserver 2000 supports pagination. U can try that also.

  • Bitmap reports(Junk characters)

    Report Gurus,
Whenever I am converting a character mode report to bitmap, I end up with lot of junk characters in the report output. And at most of the times I've to manually play around with the fonts of the layout and after lot of hit & trial's the output appears. Can anyone shed some light on why does this happen? Why does the output turn into junk if one is converting a character mode report to bitmap? I am running the reports in Oracle Application's framework, does that have anything to do with this?
Let me know your thoughts on this.

  • Junk Characters on first two pages of Cheque Printing SAP Script.

    Hi All
I implementing cheque printing for one of our client's Oman based subsidiary. I have copied the standard SAP Script F110_PRENUM_CHCK into a Z-Form and maintained its original language as EN. I have commented out all the unnecessary peices of information in all the windows and customised as per my requirement.
Now the problem that i am facing is that when i execute this script through the standard driver program RFFOUS_C, i am getting junk characters on first two pages of the script. The info displayed comes in the HEADER and MAIN Windows. The desired output is coming in the 3rd, 4th and 5th pages.
Please let me know how should i get rid of these junk characters.
    Regards
    Harsh
PS: All info printed is in English only.

    Hi
    Thanks for your response.
Yes, the remittance advice header info is getting printed in the HEADER Window and its contents in the tabular structure are in the MAIN Window.
I am passing EN as the language.
Adding to this, the report RFFOUS_C gets executed and i am checking the spool that is created which has the junk characters on the first two pages.

  • Junk characters in data transfer Program

    Hello ABAP gurus,
i am facing the problem in an custmom made ABAP Interface program. the program has an option of downloading the files in local system(Windows system) and in Unix system (AL11). when i dwnload the files locally and feed that file to a CRM system, the CRM processes the file correctly but in case if we schedule a job then the CRM reads the file from Unix system and generates an error showing the junk characters for the special european characters. please request you guys to help me in this regard.

    Hi,
When you download the file locally are able to see the junk character in the file.
Logon on to the unix system and check the file content there and if any junk characters are there, usually when we upload the file then you will have those junk character being populated at the end of the record, open the file in unix and then remove those characters and reprocess that again, it will get through.
    Thanks,
    Mahesh.

  • Square boxes instead of Japanese characters in pdf output of a crystal rep

    Hi All,
Did anyone of you ever faced such an issue, where the pdf output of a crystal report shows square boxes instead of Japanese characters when the output is saved in pdf. However the crystal report output looks perfect. I have saved the ouput in xls and rtf formats the characters look perfect as required, the issue we have is when the output is saved as pdf.
I have language pack installed on my machine.
My guess is that the few Character's width is not sufficient and few Characters in other fields appear perfect in pdf. I have to test this, it might take few days before I can access this report. Before that I want to gather information. If anyone has solution to this issue please let me know.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Could you please answer the following questions
1.What version of Crystal Reports are you using?
Go to Help-> About to find out.
2.What is the font you are using on the report?
Try to change the font style to MS Gothic or Arial Unicode MS, most preferably MS Gothic.
And export the report to PDF format.
    This may help you
