Just got a new Macbook Air. Music library from ios devices/itunes isn't showing up on itunes on the mac. How can I get it to work?

How can I get my previously purchase music to show up in itunes on my macbook air? Not sure I want to import and use up hard drive, but would like to have access to my songs/playlists on my computer. It says homesharing is turned on for all my devices using the same apple id.

iTunes prefs > Store - Show iTunes in the Cloud.

In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them), particularly any DivX extension to Safari. However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/en/software/mac

I just bought a new MacBook Air because my MacBook Pro 2008 died completely. I own a Time Capsule and it backed up regularly. I'd like to just move over all my data to my new 256GB MacBook Air, but it doesn't seem to be recognizing the Time Capsule over WiFi? I had the Time Capsule set to backup over Ethernet. Does this mean I can only access my files vs. Ethernet? Does that mean I need a USB to Ethernet adapter?

Backing up other Ethernet doesn't prevent access via Wi-Fi.
If the Time Capsule creating a wireless network? If not, you'll need to configure it to do so in order to allow the MBA to connect to it. If it does, can you connect the MBA to the Time Capsule's network?
Depending on the amount of data you want to transfer, using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter would help things run faster.

Just got a new macbook air I added 2 google email accounts to the mail program. The mail downloaded thousands of emails and now on the top right hand corner I get bombarded by notification of these emails from 3-4 years ago and it is non stop.

I am not sure why it is notifying me of old emails I know it is new just downloaded in the program but it should only notify me of recent emails shouldn't it?

If your email client (Mail) it set to never delete emails from the server, they stay there waiting. The server doesn't track what you've already downloaded, so a new setup of Mail just grabs whatever it finds on the server. You can change this in Settings, but for now, you have all your old emails to sort.

In short, think of it as a graphical interface (e.g. window, menus, etc.) that can work across multiple systems. Applications written to use an X11 interface can run on any OS (Mac, Linux, Unix, Windows) with a suitable X11 server (such as XQuartz, mentioned above).
The pros are that such an app can run anywhere. The cons being that it's kind of a lowest-common-denominator effect so it doesn't look like most native applications.
One cool effect, though, is the remote nature of X11 - it's possible to run an application on a remote machine (over the LAN, or even over the internet) and have it display its output on your local X11 system, so your mouse clicks, keystrokes, etc. are transmitted over the wire, processed by the server, and the results displayed on your screen.
As to whether it's worth it - there's no harm in downloading and installing it - it won't do anything unless any app you're running calls for X11, and any application that needs it will tell you so.

HT4859 if my music library is on an external hard drive, will iCloud still back it up? I can't get mine to work they way it's supposed to

I can't get iCloud to back my music up, and I'm wondering if the issue is that my library is on an external drive.

That's true if I want to back up my entire library - which would be awsome. But according to the iCloud page on Apple I should be able to find my Purchases on iCloud without having to sign up for iTunes Match. When I go to iCloud I don't see an icon for music.

The only thing I've downloaded was spotify. Safari won't open and other thing I try to do take really slow then freeze. It started a few days ago when I tried to download pictures.

Since your Air is so new, the best thing you can do is call AppleCare. It's a free service and they will help you figure out exactly what's going on with the computer.

But does this service work for Thailand too??

After 3 weeks, probably not, but it's up to you to at least try. If you purchased your computer through Apple's online store in Thailand, there's a phone number you can call. If you purchased the product through a premium reseller (iStudio, for example), you should take it back to the store. If you purchased it from a dodgy storefront in Pantip Plaza, or MBK, you can always ask...but, I'm guessing that they won't help.

You don't need to delete anything from your phone or you old computer.
Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer or backup to /Music/ on new computer.
If you cannot use the old computer or don't have a backup...

Then immediately make a backup of your new computer.
Get an external drive and plug it in and use -> Time Machine
