Jvm time 1 hour behind system time

hi
I'm running java on hp-ux 11.11
since the system time has changed to dst, the java applications are still showing the old time (1 hour behind)
for example
now.get(Calendar.YEAR)+"/"+now.get(Calendar.MONTH)+"/"+now.get(Calendar.DATE)+" "+now.get(Calendar.HOUR)+":"+now.get(Calendar.MINUTE)+":"+now.get(Calendar.SECOND)+":"+now.get(Calendar. MILLISECOND)
will give the output
2005/7/16 1:28:58:905
and the tcsh date command will give the output
Tue Aug 16 13:28:58 IDT 2005
any ideas on how to synchronize the jvm time with system time?
thanks
Yiftah

I can only confirm that's its true for me too. I was ok on Win98 but shows up on WinXP with summer time (during winter time it was ok. )

  • Synchronize system time and set system time zone in SAP

    Hi,
How to Synchronize system time and set system time zone in any SAP system?

    Nabarun -
Setting of the system time may be different depending on your enviroment and systems.  (Windows, AIX, etc)
Windows enviroment you can use a time server or net time command, I believe its simialr with UNIX but I do not know that command.
Setting the time zone in SAP is done through the IMG in client 000.  You can get there with transaction SPRO.
Once in the IMG, navigate to:
    SAP Netweaver
    General settings
    Time Zones
Maintain Time Zones (here you can define the time zone settings/rules)
    Then go to:
    SAP Netweaver
    General settings
    Time Zones
    Maintain System Settings
There you can change the time zones for the system.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot GR due to the time difference between System Time & Local Time

    Hi All,
We are facing any issue where the user can not do the GR as per the scheduling aggreement before 9:00am. We figured out the root cause being the difference btween the system time & local time but we are not sure. The system date is behind a day before 9:00am. For e.g. when it is 1st January 23:59 hrs system time, the local time is 2nd January 08:59 hrs. The system is not allowing GR for the earlier / later date.
Can anybody tell us what could be the issue?

  • How to display the Date Time using the System Time zone

    Friends,
Can anyone help me with below scenario..
I have to display Date Time on a jsff page, This value associated to one of Transient View object populated from the database.. Is there any way I can handle on the screen to display the same date /time bassed on the system time zone ?
I know one way how we can handle it.. while populating to View object we can set the time based on the system time zone.. but it would be easy and simple if there is any approach I can use on UI layer itself..
    thanks

I don't understand why this display doesn't pay attention to the date/time format settings that are set in the language and text prefs.
Those settings are used for date OR time, and provide for different displays depending on the space available. The menu bar does not have a fixed space available, and wants both date and time.
In Leopard, it used the medium time format. To get the date and time, you could modify that format to include the date, but that could cause problems with software that happened to use the medium time format and expectede just the time. Also, you might want to change the medium time format without changing the menu bar display. For these reasons, Snow Leopard's menu bar clock uses its own formatting for data and time display.

  • Capture Time Changed by System Time Zone?

    Hi All,
In Lightroom 1.4, changing the system time in Windows XP changes the capture time!
This seems crazy...I take photos in different time zones, and have the camera set correctly in that timezone (or adjust it to be correct in Lightroom). I'd rather not change my system timezone to "Bangkok" to correctly see data for photos from Thailand.
Anyone have a solution or workaround? Is this fixed in LR 2?
    Thanks!
       Alex

This post seems to explain a lot.
    http://www.lightroomforums.net/index.php?topic=359.msg13336#msg13336
So I'm stuck having Lightroom adjust times based on the timezone of my OS? Or is there a workaround?...maybe saving and re-importing metadata? (Can't get this to work either, even using some complex procedure I found using Exiftools and a batch file...)
I can understand the capture time relying on the OS for timezone at the time of import, but Lightroom should not continuously adjust it every time you view...
    Thanks,
       Alex

May be you can do something like this!
    data: l_time like sy-uzeit.
data: l_time1 like sy-uzeit value '06'. "6 hrs to be deducted from system time
move sy-uzeit to l_time. "this is system time
    "write l_time.
    "write:/ l_time1.
    SUBTRACT l_time1 from l_time.
write:/ l_time. "This is 6 hrs behind system time

  • Difference in SAP Time Zone - Time in SAP System

    Hi,
I am facing a problem in the SAP system time zone settings.
In my ECC and BI systems the System Time Zone and the User Time Zone is maintained as INDIA. When I check the system status using System -> Status -> Usage Data, I find the below mentioned details.
    Previous logon       10/26/2009  11:20:41
    Logon                                         11:43:25
    System time                                12:48:13
    Time zone               INDIA           23:18:13
The problem is the time shown after the Time Zone INDIA - "23:18:13", where the time should be "12:48:13". The mentioned time in the field should be the same as the system time. At the OS level I find the date and time of the system to be correct. We are running on
    date
    Mon Oct 26 12:52:21 CDT 2009
I have tried re-setting the timezones to CET and restarting the machine, but still the TimeZone Time does not change.
Because of this I face issues in functional transactions where the after the 24th hour in a day, the date increments and users wrongly choose the entries in the From date field in many transactions.
Please share a solution for the same.
    Thank you
    Regards,
    Vineeth

    Vineeth,
When you use System > Status in SAP, it lists the system time zone - which in your case would be 12:48 and be CDT.  This appears to be correct and it matches your OS time.  The time mentioned underneath "system time" is the time zone assigned to your SAP user ID in SU01.  This should not be relevant to any data, but if you wish to change it you should be able to via SU01.
You said "The problem is the time shown after the Time Zone INDIA - "23:18:13", where the time should be "12:48:13" "
Most likely "India time" is specified in your SU01 profile.  This is normal to have a local time for this; and its probably not related to your issue.  The system time is what is important.
    Hope this helps,
    Ian

  • System time and java

    hi all,
i have the same application running in two machines, in only one of them i have administrative privileges, after 1 hour, the system time in the administrative one is 10minutes advanced.
could you give me any explanation of that if my code don't uses any function to change the system time?
    thanks
    mykro

Could be something is wrong with the box. Could be a hardware failure. Could be some faulty software somewhere. Could be a virus.
Could be that the server is syncing up with a different box and that different box either has the right or wrong time.
Could be that some admin is coming along at the half hour mark, and is resetting the time using their watch.

  • System Time and Local Time

    Hi all,
Our system are config to have a different time zone with the system time. Just wondering what type of fields will take the local time and which type will take system time. We found that dates like document date/time will take local time but created by date/time will take system time. Why is this so?
We know that for job scheduling will run at system time. Is there a way to let the system know to run at the local time? Users find it very troublesome to adjust the timing.
Rewards will be given to useful answers. Many thanks.
    Regards,
    Janet

    Hi,
I found this info in one of the SAP sites i found this may be useful to you.
The easiest way to prevent any time zone problems is to run everything with UTC (formerly GMT - Greenwich Mean Time). But while it’s a good idea for servers, end users will most likely complain about being confused (my family doesn’t - my home systems are on UTC to prevent the hassles with summer/winter time). And if you implement SAP using local time on the server, while your users are in different time zones, things can get slightly complicated. Just try searching in OSS with search term “sy-timlo”.
The main problem is that some fields in SAP are stored as server local time (and date), while others use user’s local time. In general, as SAP explains in many OSS notes, any date/time that is written by the system is server local time, and any date/time that can be manually entered by users is in respective user’s time zone. To help us even more, the time zone used is not stored in documents, but only in user profile, so to be really sure which time is meant, one has to find the user who did the data entry or update, and then find the time zone and do conversion if necessary. SAP gives a good example in OSS note 636992. There, a user sitting in Japan creates a notification about, for example, machine breakdown, entering local time. Several hours later, a colleague in Germany looks at the notification and thinks that the machine has been down only a few moments, while it’s actually several hours!
Things are enough confusing if you are analysing some problem by looking at the data. And if you are creating documents (material movements, accounting postings or production order confirmations) from ABAP programs with, for example, BAPI functions, you have to be especially careful because the system will run checks on date and time fields, with different logic. In general, the posting date (BUDAT or, as in BAPIs, POSTG_DATE) and several date/time fields like EXEC_START_DATE, EXEC_START_TIME, EXEC_FIN_DATE, EXEC_FIN_TIME, EX_CREATED_DATE/TIME in confirmations in the BAPI function BAPI_PRODORDCONF_CREATE_TT are your local date and time. While creating order confirmations, the system will check the date/time against the user local date and time and will prevent creating confirmations in the future. In contrast to PP, the BAPI to create a goods movement - BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE - assumes that posting date is a local date, but doesn’t complain if it’s in the future. The potential problems can be hard to find and detect: if you have small time differences, the posting date can differ only during one-two hours per date - only then you will get an error when posting an order confirmation. For all those fields mentioned above you should normally use the system fields SY-DATLO and SY-TIMLO if they have to be populated with current date and time. If the data is provided by an external system, then either the system has to care about the correct time, or your ABAP program has to do time zone conversion.
In certain situations you can assume that if a document is being created for some plant, then the current server time can be converted into local time of the plant, if you know the time zones of both. The server’s time zone, or more exactly, its difference with UTC, can be found in the system variable SY-TZONE. To find the time zone of a plant, you can use the logic that can be found in the function CO_R0_SET_LOCAL_DATE_AND_TIME.

  • How to filter list items by current system time in search result wp or result source SharePoint 2013

I want to display Items with PressDate less than or equal
to current time in my search result webpart in SharePoint 2013.
It is working fine for current date but not considering current time.
    {searchTerms} ContentType="ABC" PressDateTime<{Today+1}
Above query not supporting for Now(), due to that it
is showing items which are less than or equal to current (today's) date.
How can I compare time with current system Time?..Thanks in advance.

You can achieve the same by using a Current Date Offset in a CAML Query to Filter List Items.

  • Actual System Time

    Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone could help me? I'm looking for a method to retrieve the actual system time. The time that I'm after is not the time that would be displayed on the user's clock, since this can be changed by the user, and is not a question relating to time zones, but the underlying time on which the actual time is calculated from.
The reason for this is I am hoping to have a time which cannot be changed by the owner of a device, so that when each device is first configured, it sends this time to the server so that it can by synchronized (by the server storing the difference between the device's system time & it's own against the device name in a database), and then offsetting the times in any data from this device by this amount. By doing this, even if the local time of the device were to be changed by the user after it's initial configuration, we would still get the time from the server (without the device needing to contact the server to get it's time). This would allow offline devices to be synchronized whilst protecting from user hacks.
    Many thanks in advance,
    JB

    Hi folks,
thanks for all the feedback; it seems that you're right about users being able to change the time even at hardware level & about my proposed solution being impossible. For anyone coming to this post looking for a similar solution, here's what I've found out.
I had thought that the date & time were kept up to date by a hardware clock that constantly ran (even when the computer was turned off), that the system could use to work out universal time (by offsetting the hardware clock by an offset amount given when the time was last synchronised), and then the OS applied the time zone to this corrected time.
This is not far off what actually happens, except that in my theory, the hardware clock ran all the time, with the system time being offset from it, but running in parallel. What actually seems to happen is that when the computer boots up, the hardware time is read in as the system time (taken as either universal or local depending on the OS / config). The OS then applies the time zone offset as required (depending if an application asks for local or universal). However, when the system is shutdown, it updates the hardware clock with its own time (since the hardware clock is not very accurate, the OS time is considered more reliable since it is likely to have been synchronised with a more accurate clock). This means that should a user change the time, when the device is shutdown, the hardware clock is updated with the user's correction.
The only solution to my problem therefore seems to be to use universal time (avoiding daylight savings issues), have the system synchronise with the server when possible, and use security to block the users from altering the time.
    Thanks again,
    JB
